    2. I hope she gives her body time to heal. It all seems fun and games now but it can have serious consequences on her body later. My grandma had 6 kids under 6 and now almost 60 years later she says her body is still suffering. She actually went on bc in secret because my grandpa kept wanting kids and she just couldn’t any more. I hope Joe is gracious with Kendra if she feels her body needs a break.

    3. I won’t be surprised if that happens.

    4. Yep in 2022 they’ll have a daughter named Queens in 2023 a daughter named Manhattan and in 2024 a son named Bronx.

    5. Yikes! That's too soon!

    6. Whatever floats their boat- For myself, planning our family size worked out very well. We have no regrets limiting our number of children to two.

      Delete
    7. In their pace, she can be pregnant within 3 months... I do hope they will think before they act... and hopefully not only about what mom and dad would advice them....

      Delete
    8. I don’t think they believe in family planning. She probably will get pregnant as soon as the breastfeeding effect wears off.

    2. No, they just liked the name Brooklyn when they were looking through a book of baby names they said in the interview ,but they might go for surname names who knows, Josiah and Lauren said they are going for alphabet theme, first Asa second Bella, if the third is named Casey they will have another grandchild named like a Bates grandchild as the Bates already have a Brooklyn, I like the name, I generally like surnames names.

    3. Not sure where you have it that there’s a Casey in the Bates family....🤷‍♀️ There’s Carson, perhaps you were confused with that?

  8. That name is full-out copying of Erin Bates.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well, the Duggars and Bates have kids with the same names too, Jackson and Josie. Why not grandkids? Besides, it would only be full-out copying if they had the same middle name too.

      Delete
    2. How is it copying? Erin doesn’t own the name Brooklyn. She didn’t invent it either. It’s a very common days these days. These 2 families are huge, obviously there’s going to be names in common. There are already Jacksons and Josies in both families. In neither instance is that copying 🙄

      Delete
    3. So... Erin doesn't have a copyright on the name.

      Delete
    4. No it isn't, erin’s daughter is Brooklyn Elise. Brooklyn is a very common name.

      Delete
    5. Is Erin Bates the only one in the world with a child named Brooklyn?

      Delete
    6. Actually the duggars used the name Brooklyn first its Josie's middle name. Anyway its their choice one name isn't limited to one family.

    2. It's unlikely that 8 more kids in 8 years would be "best for their family."

      Delete
    3. 11:26, eight kids in eight years is just speculation, not based on any knowledge we have about what they have in mind.

      Delete
  14. Happy for you all. Now slow down with all the babies. Let your body heal. It's not a race to see who can produce the most babies. We all also know children are a gift from GOD too.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Those gifts of God are allowed to come whenever God decides, they are not going to space them because they are not going to use birth control, they have said they will have as many as God will give them, anyway if they have decided that it means they have embraced they will have a large family maybe as big as the one Joe comes from, but they want to make the sacrifice because they love children as they view them as a gift from God not as a burden to her body or a burden that will give her too much to do, which I quite admire about them, so if Michelle was one in million I wouldn't mind changing that to two or three in a million depending how many of them decide to follow Michelle.

      Delete
    2. Sadly I highly doubt Kendra will slow down

      Delete
    3. Oh, my goodness. A simple congratulations is more appropriate than a lecture on family size.

      Delete
    4. 7:03 They are free to have as many children as they want, but I do not admire them or anyone who chooses to have a huge family. Not using birth control is a choice.

      Delete
    5. Why don't you admire anyone with a big family!? I have seven siblings, Which BTW, is a BIG family in todays standards, and my parents used birth control! Why would you say that?! You don't know them, or my family, either! Just don't! That comment made me sick to my stomach! Saying you dislike, or think poorly of someone because they CHOSE to have several children! Wow. I am sick to my stomach.

      Delete
    6. Unknown- You overreacted to my comment. I didn’t say I think poorly of big families, I simply don’t admire or think highly of them, just for the sake of giving birth many times. Why do they deserve admiration any more than anyone else?

      Delete
    7. 1:31, I'm sorry you were made to feel that way. I don't care if some stranger doesn't "admire" my family of five kids, but it's still a rude thing to make a blanket statement like that about people just because you would make different choices than them. Rather intolerant, actually. Would they like it if we said we don't admire people who only have one or two children? Of course not!

      Delete
    8. Unknown- Why should you expect a family that chose to have 7 kids to be liked or admired more than a small family, or a couple who has chosen to have no kids at all? How many kids you have shouldn't determine your value as a human being. I think that was the point of the OP.

      Delete
    9. anon@7:03 I am not convinced that people who have huge families are necessarily driven by a sense that they wish to make tremendous sacrifices for their kids. Unfortunately, I think there are far too many people who have kids for mostly selfish reasons. Sometimes they are motivated by the desire for the attention pregnancy and childbirth brings, or an intense longing for having a helpless infant that depends entirely on them. The novelty wears off as the child becomes more independent and willful. Having one child after another can give some parents a sense of validation of their manliness or femininity. I'm not saying that the Bates are in this category, but having a lot of kids certainly brought them fame, money and notoriety they never would have had othewise.

      Delete
    10. 5:16, yep, her body, her choice. Isn't that what people who think it's ok to kill unborn babies say?

      Delete
    11. 1:31, God created families, pregnancy, human life. There's such an anti-Bible, anti-God spirit in our culture that attacks the things God created and loves. People who are blinded to that just can't see the good.

      Delete
  15. Congrats to them! I hope Kendra had an easier time of it with this baby and that she recovers quickly.

  17. Why do all married Duggar women constantly look at their husbands while speaking? Do they need permission to continue speaking?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I’m not a Duggar, but I look at my husband a lot while speaking because I absolutely love him! Maybe that’s why they do it?

      Delete
    2. When my husband talks to someone else in the group I look at him. I almost always look at the person who is talking. What would you look at in her shoes?

      Delete
    3. Yes. If he nods they can continue speaking.

      Delete
    4. Why is there always someone always criticize EVERY thing they do???? Can’t you just be happy that there happy!!!

      Delete
    5. If I were on camera, I would find it much less awkward to look at the person speaking (which is what I do when I'm not on camera) than be looking at the camera or staring off into space).

      Delete
    6. Well, let's see. When the husbands look at their wives talking, it makes them look interested in what their wives are saying. When they don't look at their wives, they look bored. I'd rather see an interested-looking listener than a bored-looking listener.

      Delete
    7. I think it's just a strange habit they've learned by being on camera so much. My husband would think I was off my rocker if I did that!

      Delete
    8. 5:24 I think the OP is referring to when the Duggar wives are being interviewed, they look at their husbands while they themselves are talking, not just when the husband speaks.

      Delete
    9. Who knows? Most of us look at the person we're talking to.

      Delete
    10. I think that is common courtesy to look at the person who is speaking. Good manners are being used to honor the other person.

      Delete
    11. Wow, can't believe how many people got this wrong! As 9:44 said, the OP was talking about when the WOMEN are speaking, and they keep looking at their husbands. I have noticed the same thing, and have no problem with them doing that. He is the leader, and she looks to him for support, encouragement and, yes, perhaps affirmation that what she is saying is ok. (Waiting for the fallout from my remarks!!!!!!)

      Delete
    12. @12:13. My husband is not my leader. We are equal partners in our marriage of over 34 years. I do not need my husband's affirmation that what I am saying is Ok. I am an adult, like he is. If he doesn't agree, he can speak up as I speak up if I do not agree with him. That is how equal adults he have.

      Delete
    13. Read it again: When the WIFE speaks, she constantly looks at the husband, WHILE speaking. I am not criticizing, I am not shaming, I am not saying it is wrong... do not assume my assumptions. I am curious. It is a normal thing to ask questions when curious.

      Delete
    14. anon@12:13 To each their own. I'm just glad my marriage is a 50/50 partnership and we make compromises. We both bring different strengnths to the relationship and work from there. I don't need to look to my husband for affirmation or encouragement when I'm speaking to anyone. I don't need to be told what to think or have a man make my decisions. Perhaps if we had more women in leadership roles, this world would be a better place for everyone.

      Delete
    15. I don't know why they do it, but it's odd.

      Delete
    16. @12:13 my late husband was NOT my leader we were 50-50. We made designs together. If I would have looked at my husband like that he would have asked me if I was crazy or if I was ill.

      Delete
    17. Maybe they look at their husband's because they feel more secure doing that than always looking at the camera.

He works for the family car lot business, remember the episode where Kendra called Joe at work when she wanted him to come home to reveal the surprise that she was pregnant with her second, Josiah works there too, I think it's great that Jim Bob sorts his children out with jobs, they are a good investment for him with the money he earned on the show all those years ago and it's a more secure job for his sons, no risk of being fired like when you work elsewhere, where I come from in Italy people who have businesses employ their children before taking on anyone else, it's called looking after your own.

    1. Exactly what is wrong with this fairly common girl name? Simply because you can say something doesn't mean you should.

      Delete
    2. Because Brooklyn is an actual girl's name. 🙄

    3. Here is another explanation of the name Brooklyn. I am showing my age, but I had three cousins marry "Marilyns", a combination of Mary and Lynn. More recently the name Caitlyn has been popular as combination of Kate and Lynn. So, Brooklyn does not necessarily come from Brooklyn, New York, it could also be a combination of Brooke (as in Brooke Shields) and Lynn. I like that take on the meaning. I think it fits Joe and Kendra's personality from their earlier choices. But we don't know which meaning they liked. The foloowing is from Wikipedia.

"Brooklyn is first name that has increased in popularity for girls in the United States and Canada in recent years.[citation needed] It has occasionally been used as a name in honor of Brooklyn, the New York City borough, but is usually regarded as simply a combination of the names Brook or Brooke, a name derived from an English surname meaning "one who lives near a brook" and the suffix -lyn, which is an element in other popular contemporary names in the United States.

The name was the 26th most popular name for baby girls in the United States in 2014 and was the 16th most popular name for baby girls born in British Columbia, Canada in 2006.[1] Spelling variants include, but are not limited to, Brook Lynn, Brooke Lynn, Brookelynn, Brookelynne, Brooklyne, and Brooklynn."

      Delete
    4. To add to my earlier post, the name Evelyn, the name of Joy and Austin's daughter, is a similar combination name, Eve + Lynn.

      Delete
    3. @10:18 am, I presume you were also allowed to play with your friends, life isn't just about fun you have to balance it out by learning to have responsibility also, I know some people who were never given any tasks to do at home growing up, their life was all about themselves and what they wanted, and to be honest they haven't turned out to be very nice people.

      Delete
    4. My mother had 3 kids under 3 years old and I was the oldest and loved to help out with my little siblings. They were like my little real life baby dolls and we have always had such close relationships. I know that Joe will help Kendra a lot and Garrett is getting close to the age where he can start doing little things to help as well. Before we know it, Addi will be taking care of Brooklyn as well!

      Delete
    5. Anon 12:46 I don't think anyone should be scolded for saying they preferred playing with friends to caring for a baby when they were a child. IMO that's pretty honest. IMO children should be given tasks to perform around the house but my mind boggles at the idea of small children caring for a baby. The care of a baby is an adult responsibility after all.

      Delete
    6. My mom had 4 kids in 5 years. I was the oldest. I hated having siblings that close in age. We were treated like quadruplets. Parents did nothing with us as indivduals. Always the 4 kids. My siblings were bullies and mom never listened about that or did anything. They still are, even as adults.

      Delete
    7. My baby sister was so much fun. We would give her bottles, dress her, help change her diaper, entertain her. My mom was her chief caretaker, but she would let us help with those things, and it was always lots of fun. When my younger two were born, their older siblings adored them and also enjoyed helping with them. There is nothing wrong with siblings helping. It doesn't mean they do the majority of the caretaking, it's just helping. Little children obviously don't need to be feeding or changing them, but they can certainly run and get a clean diaper or put a used bottle in the kitchen or entertain a baby for a few minutes with Mom in the room.

      Delete
    8. 8:06: Addie is only 15 months older than the new baby; they will be close sisters for sure but I doubt not even a 2-year old will be able to "help" with a baby just a year younger than her...

      Delete
    9. It's not a given that the older siblings will "love" helping with the younger ones. Some people do, others don't. And most of us are familiar with the oldest sibling being put "in charge" of their younger siblings and sent out to play by their overwhelmed mother. We saw the Duggars assigning older siblings to take care of younger ones. It may work for some children but others may hate it.

      Delete
    10. Addie is 1. What is she going to do? Give the new baby a bath?

      Delete
    11. The older children should not be made to help with the new babies. They didn't have them. Getting a diaper or a bottle is one thing, but taking responsibility for their younger siblings is wrong. What those older Duggar girls had to do was wrong. It's the parents responsibility to raise their own kids- by parents I mean both mom and dad.

  30. I'm from the uk so I couldn't see the video in the link but sorted it by checking out other websites and got to see photos,I was eager to see who she looked like,Brooklyn doesn't look like either of her siblings, Garrett looks a mix of his parents, Addison looks like Joe and Brooklyn is all her mama, the round face, downward curved nose, thin lips and deep set eyes, she's a cutie just like Kendra who is a pretty young woman, Kendra herself looks just like her mom, so Kendra's sister due in May might look just like Brooklyn they could pass for sisters!

  35. Oh yay. Congratulations Joe and Kendra on the birth of Brooklyn Praise. Love the middle name. It's so unique. Are Joe and Kendra doing a alphabetical order name theme for all their kids? They now have three kids named with the letters G,A,and B and their names start with J and K. All they need now is 6 more kids to use the letters C,D,E and F,H, and I so they catch up to K and go from there since they sound like they're going to have a large family and have each kid be spaced out between 1-2 years apart like Jim Bob and Michelle had their kids. 1. Please just remember having children/babies is not a RACE! Why keep saying Abbie, Jill, Lauren and Anna should be next . Enjoy the one's babies you have. Thanks for letting me share on this site

  38. So happy for them. And I actually do hope that baby #4 is on the way for them by the end of this year.

    1. You're probably right. Seems a bit much to me but guess it makes them happy.

    2. I really hope not. She has to give her body at least a year between pregnancies or her health will suffer.

    3. Why would you hope that they have another one so close behind the rest? How about a little breathing room and time to recover from the last one?

    4. My doctor says it’s not necessary to wait a year to birth a second baby. She says spacing them 10 or 11 months apart makes it easier to raise them because they will enjoy similar activities. So 5 kids in 5 years ties you down for only 23 years (when the youngest turns 18).
Much better than being tied down forever if you space them too much. I had 5 in 6 years, so I came close. I will be free from them in another 10 years. -Love from Queenie Lovehart.

  40. Hey all of you keyboard warriors. BE NICE. Their choice to have as many children as they like. They seem to be good parents. Leave them alone.

    1. Having children is the most destructive thing a person can to do to the environment, according to a new study. Researchers from Lund University in Sweden found having one fewer child per family can save “an average of 58.6 tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions per year”

    2. You have to realize that there are people, including Bill Gates, who want to reduce world population drastically and use the environment as a nice-sounding reason to do that. You cannot believe every study you hear about (especially when you can find studies to refute other studies).

    3. Research studies can be skewed to reflect biases, you know.

    4. So we should all stop having children, and in 100 years there will be no people to harm the planet. Great idea.

  41. Yet another tae on the history of the name Brooklyn. This time from Nameberry.
    Brooklyn Origin and Meaning
The name Brooklyn is a girl's name.
Extreme makeover: Brooklyn has gone from jokey Borough Boy name in the 1990s to the leading girls' name starting with B. The status of New York's Brooklyn as hipster heaven is ironic as few bona fide Brooklyn hipsters would choose this name.

Brooklyn first came into widespread public view via the first Beckham boy born in 1999, though it had already entered the lower ranks of the girls' list in 1990, rising to the double digits in 2005, as more and more parents began to see it less as a NYC place name by separating it into its highly name-y syllables – brook and lyn.

Brooklynn is one of several popular variations.

    1. Obviously the person who wrote that has never lived in Brooklyn NY. Oh the stories I could tell. Hipster heaven - ha. No.

    2. The name is not just a girl name. It can be boy too. Celebrities have used it for boy.

Now the next grandduggar will be born in teh Summer (Jessa's) unless there will be new announcements soon! I'm very surprised that Lauren and Josiah and John and Abbie did not get pregnant (or announced) yet. And maybe Anna will have another baby soon (she has babies every 2 years).

    1. I think it's really sad that it seems all the Duggar women are recognized for is whether or not they're pregnant or have just given birth.

      Delete
    2. I am not surprised, that Lauren, and Abbie, are both holding off, on their next pregnancies, as they both have a hard time, with their previous pregnancies. Abbie had severe morning sickness, which required going to the hospital for IV hydration. Lauren, had ongoing issues, with her progesterone levels, which required constant monitoring. Thus, I am not surprised that neither Abbie, or Lauren, has announced another pregnancy yet.

  52. Suggestion - How about pics of the 3 kids side by side when they were born to see how much they look alike or different!

  53. I hope she waits a few years before she has another baby. She needs to give her body a rest. Take the time to give attention to the 3 young children she already has. Having babies after babies is hard on a woman 's body. So is taking care of so many young children is hard physically, mentally and emotionally. These Duggar wives are not baby machines.
