Duggar #14 Turns 18

It won't be long before all of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's children have reached adulthood. Today is Justin's 18th birthday, and he's No. 14 in the Duggar family lineup. Perhaps the most exciting thing that has happened in Justin's life recently is his relationship with Claire Spivey, which was announced in September.

  10. This family confuses simple teenage boy-girl attraction with lifetime commitment. It's like you can't have one without signing up for the other. I can't imagine a parent expecting you to marry instead of dating. Eighteen is not mature enough for marriage and there's no reason to rush into it, not if you're allowed to date. You learn a lot about yourself and other people through dating.

    1. This was actually how it was done in "the olden days," and it seemed to work then, so let's let them do their thing.

    2. You'll have to imagine it now,he's engaged! actually they got to know each other even better through courtship as they focus on their hearts, their goals and on the actual seriousness of marriage, they are ready for all the responsability, after all they have had their fair share of responsabilities, everything their parents have been doing so have they from working to helping with children and chores so when they marry it won't be a shocking change as it would be for another young person who didn't have to deal with responsibilities before.

    3. In "the olden days" you were lucky if you lived past 35 or 40, and a lot of women died in childbirth. These are not the olden days. No 18 year old needs to get married to hurry things up.

  11. 😀 Happy 18th birthday🎈 Justin Samuel Duggar. I hope you had a great birthday today. May God bless your day. I can wait to see what he has in store for you. I really can't wait to see you & Claire's courtship, engagement, wedding & honeymoon. I can't wait to see everyone on counting on in season 12. I can't wait for the show to come early in 2021. 1. I agree, someone's life choices should not be made for entertainment purposes.

    2. Justin & Claire, may decide to wait until the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, to get engaged, and eventually get married. It will depend on what their priority is, between, wanting to have their wedding as soon as possible, and wanting to invite as large a group as possible, to their wedding. If Claire has been picturing her wedding, as having as many guests as possible, she might be inclined, to push a potential wedding date, to the end of the Covid-19 pandemic.

    3. They already announced it today.

    4. Well, Covid isn't going anywhere. At some point they will have to decide to live their lives. Did you know that the WHO said that a vaccine isn't going to be the end of it, that we will have to employ the other tools in their "toolbox." I shudder to think what that means.

  14. I can't imagine an 18-year old rushing into marriage. He is so young, and he might get married next Spring and have a baby the following year. Why not look around, study something, travel.

  15. If he proposes on Thankgivings, when is the earliest they can get married? April? It could be very pretty, like cherry blossoms everywhere.

  19. I can't imagine letting my 17-year old son move to another state to live with his girlfriend's family. I'm not impressed with the parents on either side.

    2. Nor am I. I don't know why the parents on both sides encouraged this relationship in the first place. Now he's engaged and a wedding will soon follow.

  20. My 18 year old daughter has a boyfriend and I always advise her to take it VERY slowly - she’s way too young and inexperienced to commit to one person

    2. You wonder if he’ll “let” her keep it shortish?!? It’s her hair, not his. He can give his opinion but he has absolutely no control over how she wears her hair.
