  5. So glad some of the older kids are rejecting having camera's covering the actual birth. What John and Abbie did was way classier. Cute baby.

    1. What Abby and John allowed on Gracie's birth was well done. One could tell Abby was in pain but spared from hearing her screaming. May God continue to bless beautiful Gracie.

  7. Goodness me a month old already, where has that time gone. Hopefully the little one is settling in well & not keeping mummy & daddy up too much at night. It’s hard to even remember the first month with your new baby as you can feel so exhausted that it all goes by in a haze. Once things settle & the little one gets into a routine it’s lovely to start really enjoying parenthood. It’s such a learning curve that first month, no matter how used to babies you are, I know I felt like a fish out of water with my son & I had years of experience with babies. It’s so different when it’s your own child. Sending Abbie & John much love at this very special time. Enjoy every minute of your new little family, the time goes by so fast & before you know it they are grown & off to college.

    1. Too bad the Duggars don't believe in college.

    2. Agreed! My first baby is three weeks old today and I am so glad I am keeping a journal of this period with her. A lot is a haze for sure. It really helps to write most of it down for myself.

    3. Elipeel. What an excellent idea about keeping a journal to help you remember that first precious month that goes by in such a haze. That is an idea I would very much like to mention to my midwives at work, as it is something very positive for new mums to do that they can look back on in the years to come. I truly wish I had kept a journal of my little ones first month, especially my first baby. Thank you for sharing that idea, I think a lot of new mums would get a great deal of benefit out of doing the same thing.

    4. Keep going, Elipeel! I recently found the journals from my little's early years, and I wish I had kept it up. So much fun to go back and reread.

    7. At some point the college tide will turn. I'm sure we'll start seeing it in this new generation.

    8. A couple points: It all depends on the baby. Some are good sleepers from the start, so the parents aren't so tired. Second, as to college -- Let this family do what they want to do. Last I heard, none of them were on the public welfare rolls.

    9. Learning curve? It's just a baby, they eat, poop, and sleep.
It's a matter of just taking care of this little human, feed them on time, watch that they have clean diapers, sleep enough, take outside for fresh air. It's pretty much like a new puppy, you just take care of them.

    10. Nope, 2:15, there's a learning curve. Do you know Fuzzyferet's background in working with new moms and newborns. She knows what she's talking about. Sorry, it's not as simple as you make it sound.

    11. 2:15 it is a learning curve. Every baby is different with each child. It's not like a new puppy. You train a puppy, you raise a child.

    12. Well, technically you can train a child too. It's called potty training, not potty raising or even potty teaching. 😉 People are also trained when it comes to new jobs and athletics. Train is not a word that solely pertains to animals.

  10. Abbie is probably recovered by now from the drama of childbirth and can start enjoying the baby.

  12. i think it is really sad that annabell (joy and austins miscarried baby)won't be able to grow up with her cousins but she will see them one day in heaven so sad but so sweet at the same time.GOD BLESS THIS FAMILY!! <333

    1. It is very sad. 4 baby girls born around the same time, and Annabell is in Heaven. I'm sure Joy will try to have another baby soon, only a new baby can heal this. Lauren was so depressed after her miscarriage, and now she seems to be very happy having Bella.

  13. Very cute :) I bet John and Abbie are enjoying parenthood so far. Even though the first few months are hard. It gets easier as they grow!

  14. Ellie,
This is the first time in a while that no Duggar ladies were expecting (at least not publicly). Can you tell us when the last time this happens was?

    1. I;m not Ellie, but after Marcus was born in June 2013, the next grandbaby was Israel who was born in April 2015. So between June 2013 and end of May 2014 (when Jill got married and became pregnant) no Duggars were pregnant!

After that, Israel was born in April, then Meredith in July, then Spurgeon in November 2015. It did not take long for Jessa to get pregnant again, so she gave birth to Henry in February 2017, so she probably got pregnant in April 2016. Between November 2015 and April 2016 noone was pregnant.

When Henry was born, Jill was already pregnant with Sam, and Anna with Mason. When Mason was born in September 2017, Joy was already pregnant since May 2017 and then Kendra got pregnant in September 2017, and then Jinger got pregnant around October 2017. Then Gideon, Garrett and Felicity were born in 2018.

It was a short period between July 2018 and September 2018 when nobody was pregnant (Jessa got pregnant with Ivy and Lauren with Asa in Sept. 2018).

After that girls were getting pregnant like crazy. Only now after Gracie's birth nobody seems to be pregnant.

    2. After Felicity was born until Jessa got pregnant with Ivy (2018)

    3. So the last time a Duggar was not pregnant was for like 1-1.5 month in the Summer of 2018, and before that from June 2013 to May 2014, 6 years ago?

After Jill got married, Duggars started getting married fast. It was 6 years between John and Jill to get married, but then Jill got Married in May 2014, Jessa in November 2014, babies started to come. Then 2 years later in November 2016 Jinger got married, and it got crazy with marriages - Joy in May 2017, Joseph in September 2017, Josiah in June 2018, John in November 2018. I seriously expect someone to start courting and get engaged soon so that they could marry this year and then got pregnant. Jed, Jer, Jason.

  16. I think Joy will get pregnant soon, or maybe she is already. It's been over 7 month since they lost the baby in June 2019. I remember Lauren said it took her "a long time" to get pregnant after her first miscarriage, but she got pregnant around February 2019 and the miscarriage was on October 2018 (max 4 months prior). Maybe of course Joy is resting emotionally, working with Austin on houses, she likes this, maybe its what she needs now, not another baby.
