1st Photo of Baby Seewald No. 3

Earlier this month, Jessa and Ben Seewalds announced that they are expecting their third child. They have not yet revealed Baby Seewald's due date or gender, but he or she will arrive sometime this spring. Below is an ultrasound photo of their little one.

    2. While I applaud your correct use of “nor”, the intellect in your comment stops there. It’s obvious you are neither unbiased nor a logical thinker regarding this topic.

Babies don’t magically transform from a clump to a baby in the birth canal.

    3. You must be blind to say that the human in Jessa's womb is not a baby! Look it up, life begins at conception. Science can prove it!!

    6. That is an ultrasound PHOTO of a BABY. Curious to know when you think a baby magically becomes one, if not at conception.

    7. If not a baby, what is it then?

      Delete
    8. Second what original poster said. It is computer ink printout of a digital image, not a photo. A photo requires a camera and light sensitive paper which needs chemical development. And it is a fetus, not baby.

    9. You are entitled to your opinion. It is well known that the Duggars and most of the readers of this blog are pro-life conservatives who believe life begins at conception. For you to post what you posted on this blog is rude and intended to incite controversy. In other words you are a troll.

    10. Well the ultrasound picture shows no diffinite form of a baby, it’s looks like a blob. The ultrasound photos of her other children were more clear.

    12. 11:06, the definition of “fetus” is “the am unborn baby”, so yes, still a baby.

      Delete
    13. 9:28, you either need glasses or haven’t spent much time looking at ultrasound pictures. You can very clearly see the baby’s head, nose, lips and body. It is a side angle photo.

      Delete
    14. 9:28, no "blob" has a head, nose, mouth, chin, or spine, all of which are clear in the picture above. There are none so blind as those who will not see.

      Delete
    10. I agree with 4:11. Three kids is more than enough. After you have three, it's hard to give kids the attention they need and deserve. Also, not to mention the stress on the mother's body.

    11. Why would they do that? All of them say that they want to have as "many children as God gives them".

    15. That is Jessa and Ben's decision if they want to continue to have kids.

      Delete
    16. @1:50 I suggest you do some research. China now has a 2 child limit. A couple with more than 2 have to pay for the extra child's medical and education expenses themselves. The state will not.

China had to do something to limit its population growth. It did not have the resources to feed its over 1 billion citizens. I can only assume that those against population management would prefer that nature reduces the population by famine and disease. Now that China is fast becoming industrialized, it has relaxed the limit.

    8. If they didn't share then people would complain about not seeing it! Complain Jessa & Ben share too much. Complain Joe & Kendra don't share enough! Someone is always unhappy!

      Delete
    9. 2:38, I don’t think they posted it expecting people to be as excited as they are, they’re sharing it because people asked them to, because many people obviously care about their family and have become invested in their lives over the years. I don’t get why it’s offending OP.

    2. 5:25- Debating abortion is pointless. Better we spend our time working towards preventing unwanted pregnancies in the first place by providing free contraception to all women who request it. It's a win/win- fewer abortions and fewer unwanted children that may end up in the social service system due to neglect or abuse.

    5. 4:51 Put an end to abortion? You do realize it's medically necessary in some cases and in other cases it happens spontaneously?

      Delete
    6. 4:51- Great! There are many children languishing in our foster care system in need of permanent homes. There’s a shortage of foster families, as well. With so many claiming to be protectors of life out there, why is this happening? (And yes, my children are adopted.)

      Delete
    7. 5:25- With so many like yourself who advocate for life, why are there so many children in foster care unable to find permanent homes? Why are there not enough families willing to foster? I’m so tired of the empty rhetoric from so- called pro-lifers. Time for them to make it count for the living breathing kids who are forgotten.

    8. Criminalizing abortion will not stop desperate women from resorting to desperate measures to end an unwanted pregnancy. If you are so opposed to a woman's right to privacy and her right to choose that you'd force her to give birth under any circumstances, you should also be opening your home to at least one of the waiting foster care children, many of whom are special needs, who need a loving family willing to invest in them for the long term. No excuses.

    11. Yes. Life is precious. That thought makes me wonder why we need guns which for the most part are designed with the purpose of killing people.

      Delete
    12. Perhaps you should first read the proposed law in New York, before commenting on it. The new law allows abortion after 24 weeks in an “absence of fetal viability" and, if necessary to “protect the Mom’s life or health.”

A woman whose fetus has an absence of viability or needs chemo to stay alive does not need to see ultrasound photo of a healthy pregnancy. She is already KNOWS and probably has her own pictures to look at.

@4:34 is right. Free and easy access to birth control plus government-mandated pregnancies leaves of up to 18 months, on reduced pay, plus other social programs will go a long way to reduce the number of abortions. Empower women by education to take control of their own lives. Teach men to do the same and the abortion rate will decrease.

By the way, countries which do not criminalize abortions and have universal health care ACTUALLY have a much lower abortion rate than that of the US.

    13. Anon 10:33 How dare you try and justify this horrendously barbaric slaughter of now even late term babies, babies who are actually due and in their ninth month in the womb. I have read the bill along with millions of others who have read it. Please people go to pro-life sites and see for yourself exactly what this new bill is about. To add even more insanity to this situation, Governor Andrew Cuomo lit buildings up all around N.Y. in pink to celebrate this barbaric new Bill. A spokesperson for planned parenthood said in excitement, "This is huge!!"
Please my sister's and brothers in Christ, go to pro-life sites and get informed on what has just hapoened. Let's pray and fight this good fight of faith standing against this evil practice of the slaughter of these babies who are created in the image of God. God said to Jeremiah, "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and I ordained there Prophet", and the same goes for each one of us. We are all known by God, and we are given a calling on our lives by God. Each one of these babies in the womb are also known and given a calling by God on their lives so please let's stand up against this horrendous evil bill because the unborn can't fight, but we can.

    14. 9:38, abortion is NEVER medically necessary. If the mothers life is in danger the baby can be delivered in at least an attempted chance to save its life, rather than murdering the baby and giving it no chance whatsoever. And having a natural miscarriage is not something you can control, when Christians talk about ending abortion, they are talking about purposefully killing a baby.

      Delete
    15. 9:36, um, try for self defense??

      Delete
    16. Anon 12:51 I realize you have strong feelings regarding abortion, but I see that you are overstating the law. No one is celebrating the killing of babies. Instead the bill offers people with a overwhelmingly bad medical diagnosis an option. It is not our place to sit in judgment on people's decisions regarding abortion. Quoting a Bible verse that was used to give a prophet "street cred" doesn't apply to ALL pregnancies. What happened to "judge not lest you be judged"? I learned long ago that reading material from sites that have an agenda doesn't give an accurate description of anything. I respect your opinion, but I also respect the right of people I don't know to make their OWN decision about having an abortion. I think life is precious but there is also the factor of quality of life for both the parents and a child with an overwhelming medical problem. Medical advances may keep the severely disabled alive, but at what cost? We have to make tough decisions in life and it's really not our call to tell other people what to do in these situations. For your own sake, please try to calm down.

      Delete
    17. 4:34 -- No, debating how to stop pure evil is not pointless.

      Delete
    18. Anon 1:42 I beg to differ with you about medically necessary. Having had an emergency D & E to save MY life there wasn't time to "deliver" a fetus. You really like playing word games. A woman's life can be in danger without them actually experiencing your typical miscarriage.

      Delete
    19. Anon 10:41 They are two different issues you are talking about. One has nothing to do with another. My best friend was raised in a Foster home and we are both pro-life supporters. To think that some people use the argument that if you aren't raised or maybe even loved by your birth parents and put in Foster homes that you would have been better off slaughtered in your Mothers womb is not only offensive but shows such lack of humanity. There are millions of people who are the best of us who not only triumphed over tough beginnings but went on to be some of the best blessings this world has to offer. So stop it with that nonsensical argument already!!

    6. 8.21pm oh dear you are feeling antagonistic. No one wants for an unhealthy baby and a parent to see them suffer so its natural to hope for a healthy baby. And it's a joy to experience both sons and daughters in the family. Obviously if the baby has a medical condition as my daughter did - we found out just after birth - of course we lovingly welcomed and accepted her and prayed hard. 8. Anon @ 8:22 People wish for a healthy baby because no one wants to see a child suffer, and if they are born with an illness or disability then life is going to include a lot of challenges including pain. If a child is born with a medical condition or disability I am sure it would be welcomed and loved like every baby, but surely it is kinder to wish health on a the baby, to me thats what what we all want for our children health and happiness.

      Delete
    9. I thought the same thing. Of course they don't want the baby to suffer in life, but it seems like they should welcome a baby regardless of their health status. I think a safe delivery for mom and baby is the most important.

      Delete
    10. Not any less welcome, but why not wish for a healthy child. Having a disability makes life so hard no one wants to see a child struggle in a world that already so hard to live in as a healthy person. Not that the child wouldnt be loved, because I assure you there would be plenty of love. But dont we all want our children to be healthy and not suffer. Dont mistake hopes for a healthy baby as a lack of love for an unhealthy one.

When someone wishes good health or healthy baby, for someone else, that is normal. The opposite would be to wish for a baby or someone else to have poor health, in which you or i would not wish upon anyone. Its just that simple, dont look for something further in that statement from the OP wishing for good health.

    19. Anonymous @8:22pm I don't think wishing for a healthy baby is saying that a child with a medical condition or a disability is not wanted. Most people don't wish for someone to go through the troubles that come along with those things. That's why it's a "wish" or a "hope".

      Delete
    20. 8:22 No, any baby is very welcome in this family but you don't wish disabilities on anyone.

    21. What do you hope for when your friend or family member announces a pregnancy?

    22. Who on earth prays for an unhealthy baby???!!! I have a cousin with a child with Down syndrome and another with a child with cerebral palsy. I know for 100% for sure neither of my cousins prayed for that. However, they have learned a lot and are amazing mothers. But NO ONE WANTS a baby with medical problems.

    23. I am just trying to get conversation going and maybe to offer a different perspective. Essentially when you say, "as long as he/she is healthy" or I hope or wish he/she is healthy, then when a baby arrives who has a medical condition or has a disability, essentially he or she is less than you had hoped for wished for, or said. If we truly believe that God is in control and that every life that He began is perfect then despite perhaps many challenges ahead, each life is just as valuable.

I am a Mom to five, three with medical or other disabilities. Yes, life is challenging for my kids, far more than for many others, yes, life is challenging for our whole family, however, all of my kids have a reason for being here. Me wishing that they be healthy, after the fact when they were already formed, wouldn't have changed anything. When my kids came into my life, and I realized what disabilities each one of them had, they didn't become any less desirable or less wished for. Yes, there were moments of fear (I am only human) but underlying I was confident that this was exactly the child I had been wishing for. Not a healthy different one.

No, I don't wish pregnant people or people who are waiting to adopt, "I hope you get a healthy one". My wish for them is, "How wonderful that you get to add another person into your life and that you get to be a Mom".

    24. @ 10:42, 8:22 didn't wish for a healthy child ,they stated people don't welcome disabled people and I replied that my autistic son was welcome but that does'nt mean it is'nt hard on all involved including my disabled son,and that was'nt an argument, just stating a fact, its a tough reality.

    25. Anon @9;21 Sorry but being born with an illness or disability is a totally different thing to having type 2 diabetes. The vast majority (although not everyone) of type 2 diabetes patients have the condition through years of poor eating habits, weight gain and no exercise, it is something that most of us can avoid but poor choices mean it is a huge health problem in the western world, unlike a little baby who has no choice in the condition it is born with.

    26. @8:22 no a baby with a medical condition would not be less welcome. But yes I pray they have a healthy baby and pregnancy. As a mother who is currently expecting a child who at the last appointment the Dr heard something wrong with the heartbeat it's scary and you loose sleep over it. I haven't gotten a full night's sleep for a while and I won't until I know how baby is one way or another. If my child had a heart complication doesn't mean it's not wanted it just mean I'll be faced with some challenges. I wouldn't wish what I'm going through on anyone even my worse enemy. So i will continue to pray for a healthy baby for everyone who is expecting

    1. What's wrong with Spurgeon and Henry? They don't do the weird names that celebrities often give their kids.

    2. Billy Graham?

    9. It could be Smith Wigglesworth!
Billy after Billy Graham is a good name as mentioned.
If a girl Catherine after Catherine Marshall or Susannah after Susannah Spurgeon!

  38. I will never understand why the Duggars celebrate babies in the womb so much, yet if they're born and put up for adoption, they "carry the sins of the fathers" and are scorned. (Jim Bob has said that.)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. When did Jim Bob say that?? And Jessa and Ben obviously don’t believe that as they want to adopt or foster in the future.

      Delete
    2. Some of them "talk" about adopting, but instead they just keep having biological children. These passionate champions of the unborn should demonstrate their commitment to the living, IMO.

      Delete
    3. I don't think you understand what that means and Jim Bob nevered used that sentence in birth / adoption discussion. It's not just the Duggars. Everyone posts photos of their child's ultrasound photo. I don't know where you are from but I will pray for you.

      Delete
    4. That's ridiculous. He never said that, or if he said that about the sins of the fathers he meant that they are influenced by their natural paraents. Very true by the way. We all know the whole Duggar family is very much for adoption.
We have also thought about adoption, but it's hard to really consider it when you can have enough kids on your own. So I don't blame any of them for being for it, but not actually doing it (yet). There are plenty of people who could and just don't want to.

  42. I’m pregnant with my 6th child now (due in May) and I’ve never had morning sickness with any of them. Heartburn around my 20th week unfortunately until delivery. And to think they say heartburn means the baby will have long locks and all of mine have been bald! Lol
