Video Featuring Lawson Bates

Hi blog readers! For those who are also fans of the Bates family, we encourage you to head on over to our Bates blog to watch a special video that Ellie and her husband filmed with Lawson Bates earlier this week.

Lawson Bates What Country Means to Me

  1. Ellie,
Hello! I mentioned this on your blog: Nashville Wife. I'm one of those that can't see some of your videos. I can't see this one with Lawson. There is no box, link, video, etc... The same is true for the fan files on the Bates' site. I still can't see them on Nashville Wife, either. I'm on a desktop with Windows using Chrome.
    Thank you!

*For a brief time, when the Fan File first started, I could see the videos. I do see the videos with Mrs. Duggar below with Jill's little boy. :) I also see the video promos on the Bates' site for the show tonight. The couples' dinner, etc... Hope this helps!

  2. OK...if you want to stereotype an entire segment of the US. Surely Lawson must realize that not everyone who lives outside of a big city feels or acts that way. Nor can you exclude city people from having the values he sings about. This is why I don't like "country" music. It paints a stereotypical picture of the population, and glosses over basic facts about rural areas, such as the poverty levels there or the lack of jobs. But whatever, Lawson. Keep selling the dream that things are exactly like what you sing about, even if they aren't.

    1. 1:44- It's called entertainment. Just like reality TV shows or the movies, the music industry does not usually make a point of accurately portraying whatever story they are trying to sell.

    3. Not always true, 12:15. Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn didn't hide the truth about their poor childhoods, with songs that were huge hits for them - "Coat of Many Colors" and "Coal Miner's Daughter." Lawson could learn a thing or two from them.

    4. At least it's not rap! The lyrics of most of those "songs" are disgusting

    5. I don't like this kind of music either. Just because you live in "the country" doesn't make you special.
