New Season This Summer!

Tonight's two-hour special is the season finale of Counting On, and many of you have expressed concern over the possibility of it also being the series finale. On that note, we have an exciting announcement to share. The Duggars will be back this summer with a brand new season of Counting On!

    1. Really wish they would show how the couples support themselves. Jeremy has a pastor salary but how do Ben, Joseph, and soon Josiah support a wife and kid(s)? Just from filming or magazine interviews? Do they not pay any utility/healthy insurance type bills? Is that why they go with home birth (as a first choice, but many have been in the hospital in the end) to avoid the copays/bills? Something doesn't add up.

    2. They work for their family business. Do you watch the show?

  2. Cant wait! That would be cool it started in August of 2018! So we could have updates on both Kendra and Jinger's babies!

    1. I agree. I am looking forward to the new season. I sure hope it will be longer than 7 episodes. They always have so much to cover for it not to be.

    2. I agree with amount of episodes and longer than 4 to 5 weeks long.

  3. That's nice. I hope it lasts longer than this "season" did and has some new material.

    1. I don't think that a program that obsesses about the dangers of touching while courting and talking about who's pregnant and who's not to be completely clean or G rated. They don't need to bring those courtship physical rules up all the time and talk in circles about them.

    2. If you don’t like it don’t watch it.

    3. I would be anonymous too !!
Tell me are you always so jealous
Of happy people ? So sad for you !!

      Delete
    4. Why is it whenever someone disagrees with a response here, they claim that the other person is jealous? You must know that's not the case, so why say it?

      Delete
    5. Anon @ 5:07 If everyone who didn't like the show stopped watching the show would totally tank. Not everyone who watches is a diehard fan. The seasons figures are not great, they are mostly down on last year, they need all the viewers they can get.

      Delete
    6. Jealousy is a weak argument that doesn't hold water. I don't like it when someone accuses another person of it. I think it reflects more on the accuser than the accused.

      Delete
    7. I don't know why anyone is mean with their comments about this family. No one forces us to watch any show where we don't like the people , so jealousy comes to mind
the family seems as happy as any other I know. if I didn't agree with them, I certainly would watch something else, there is plenty out there.

    1. In response to wanting to see Grandna Duggars house--- Grandma Duggar lives right there in her and Grandpa Jim bobs big beautiful home with the little kids and also several adult grown kids. Great Grandma lives somewhere else now-- i think in her own home?

      Delete
    2. Everyone calls Great Grandma Duggar, Grandma Duggar!!! Don’t be silly!!!

      Delete
    3. Grandma had her own home but has been bumped from it twice now to make room for the teenage newlyweds. First Jessa/Ben, now Joe/Kendra.

      Delete
    4. Jessa wasn’t a teenager, and neither is Joe

      Delete
    5. I recall them moving a log cabin, that belonged to Grandma Mary Duggar from a piece of land she sold, to the Duggar’s 20-Acre property. We haven’t seen it pictured since. Remember the older boys were building a stem wall for it. I remember the kids touring it once it had been put on the property. So maybe she moved into that home. Then maybe Jana could get the guest bedroom located off of the laundry room that Grandma Duggars been in since Grandpa Dugger passed. That is if Jana wants to be in her own room. There’s a lot more space in the girls bedroom nowadays. And Ben/Jessas House was always a rental property. I don’t think Mary ever lived in it. And I’m sure they get a good deal compared to rental prices in that area since GMA owns and rents to them.

      Delete
    6. Kendra and Ben were.

      Delete
    7. Actually, Grandma Duggar owned Ben & Jessa's house and it's currently in Ben & Jessa's name per the Property records. Whether they bought it with their own funds, who knows?

      Delete
    8. Ben & Jessa's house changed ownership from Grandma to them for the whopping transfer price of $1.

      Delete
    9. The property transfer showed an amount of $1 at one time.

      Delete
    10. That's a legality. Our deed shows $1, but we sure paid more than that!

  13. That just made my week.

  14. I wish they would bring back Josh and Anna I cannot believe how the American public have such double standards ,It seems ok to have an adulterer as a President ,Josh's problems shows that the Duggars are human like the rest of us . The Duggars are an amazing family

    ReplyDelete

    1. you are joking

      Delete
    2. Josh was claiming to be a Christian, and was speaking out against adultery WHILE he was committing it. I love Anna but don’t care to see him again. He’s brought so much unneeded pain to his family.

      Delete
    3. I feel like Josh and Anna should stay off the show and focus on their family and ensuring they have a healthy marriage. Why add any stressors?
I don't want to go too far into the past, but Josh's "problems" go beyond his betrayal of Anna and living a double life. I honestly don't think he belongs on TV now or in the future. His presence on the show also brings greater criticism on the rest of the Duggar siblings and I don't want them to get pushback for things they had no control over.

      Delete
    4. I say it’s time to show events how they really happen; if Josh and Anna are there don’t edit them out. Don’t interview them or focus on them, acknowledge them....the family didn’t divorce them. I am sure all of this is controlled by contracts and advertisers.

      Delete
    5. Oh, my, my, my. Now we’re bringing in the President. The President did not have affair during being President. Josh, had affairs during the show being on. President Trump, should not be in these conversations. I feel so sorry for Anna😢 My heart breaks for her and the children. Have compassion for her. I would love to see her and the children only. I love the Duggar families.

      Delete
    6. Take it up with the people who voted that adulterer into office. I'm willing to bet that a lot of them agreed with how the Josh scandals were handled, too. No double standard there.

      Delete
    7. I'm sure neither Anna or Jill are banned from TLC. They have both appeared on the show, albeit in a much reduced role, after their husbands left. However if the show is filming an event where they are walking around as couples, such as a wedding, it's pretty awkward to show the wife and not the husband.

I also think it's very possible Anna just doesn't want to be on the show anymore. The first Counting On season was very serious and many people, including Anna, did discuss what Josh did. But she looked miserable and I kept thinking "I really hope Anna CHOSE to talk about this, and not because she was pressured to by a family member or show producer".

So I wouldn't be surprised if she chose to leave, too. If she did then I'd want to respect that decision.

      Delete
    8. 4:07 PM -- If you're referring to Trump, how does what he did 12 years ago while a private citizen figure into anything? Or maybe you're referring to the President who committed adultery in the Oval Office?

      Delete
    9. Argh!! I’m so tired of arguing About Trump with Christians! I’ve never seen so many people harp on a man because he’s had more than one marriage? You say you couldn’t vote for him, but what was your alternative? Clinton? I hope you went and voted this intelligent man in so that we didn’t have to have that pro-abortion, pro-socialism, pro-choice woman in the White House. She would have been 100X worse than Trump. She’s a loose cannon and we would be seeing the major effects of her presidency right now. Why are you down on trump for his marriages? Do you not have loved ones, pastors, or friends who have been divorced? Do you talk like this about them? He’s been named Pro-Life person of the year for accomplishing more for the Pro-Life Agenda than anyone else. He mentions God in all His speeches while also talking about our unity as a country as One Nation — Under God! You read the Bible, look at all the leaders who had adulterous affairs, but who spoke with God and changed their ways? Have you ever thought that in this period in history, Trump is being used by God to not only piece back together our broken country, but also as a time for his own conversion? This is our problem with society now. We do not research facts for ourselves, rather, we continue to retell things we’ve heard without checking to see if they’re factually true or merely someone’s opinion...smh If anyone is interested in supporting articles, let me know. I’d be glad to post them.

      Delete
    10. Trump couldn't be further from God if he moved to another universe or dimension. He doesn't write his own speeches, speechwriters do. Speechwriters get paid to promote a party's agenda. Trump is merely a mouthpiece. Did you see that man go to church every Sunday before he became a candidate??

  20. Yay! Joy and Austin need to get there own flip that house show. I love see them working on house together. I do like see everyone else to.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That's highly unlikely. They just started their family. Let the kids grow up so they can help too. I wouldn't wish that on joy to be helping with flip houses with little babies in tow. You know the babies will keep coming.

      Delete
    2. Plenty of people buy, renovate and flip houses. There are more than enough shows of this genre on TV now. What would Joy and Austin do that’s so different? Or is the name Duggar enough to have the networks flocking?

      Delete
    3. Maybe Joy can do the house flipping while Austin cares for the babies.

      Delete
    4. 8:27, if Joys next baby is a csection she won’t be able to have 20 kids, so unless she and Austin adopt she wouldn’t have little kids in tow for too long.

      Delete
    5. People act like it’s great to flip houses but it’s honestly hard to make anything anymore with the price of materials gone thru the roof. We did a modest remodel on a bedroom and bath and it was ridiculously expensive when we did the work ourselves. Austin and Joy probably have 100k or more in their little house. That just seems like there’s no value in our dollar anymore. It’s not like wages have gone up to help average Americans afford this!!

      Delete
    6. The world does not need to see any more houses being bought, sold, flipped, or decorated! Too many already.

      Delete
    7. While it would be nice to see the Duggars doing more than courting, marrying, and giving birth, I agree there are way too many house flipping and home renovation shows out there that they'd be competing with for audience share.

I also get the sense the flipping shows are about to wear out their welcome anyway, as happened to the "interior re-design" type of show that features people making renovations to a home they actually plan to live in, that was very popular 10 years ago. The Scott Brothers are still popular, but their show is more a hybrid of the interior design and flip shows.

      Delete
    8. I checked the property records and Austin doesn't have any new properties in his name. I think he is probably working for his dad right now at the camp. Maybe they both will this summer.

      Delete
  21. I would love to see more shows about the family and less shows with one-on-one interviews of them talking about things we already know about. This season talking about "old-news" courtship and wedding plans, when already we know a baby is already on the way. Most of the shows are just repeats. This facebook page, which I love, keeps us so updated, that nothing is NEW on the show.

    1. All these house flippers have ruined the housing market. Where I live you used to get a house for cheap, not anymore. Everyone PAYS when people are flipping houses to earn a living. Housing market would be better if they would fix them up and rent them instead of selling and sending home values up so high that the low middle class gets priced out of the market. Tired of the house flipping shows on TV! Flippers cause inflation period

      Delete
    2. @1:46..I agree. They also cause problems for existing home owners. We have,on our street, flippers who purchased three houses. They thought that they would make money because the street has some very nice homes. They have ended up renting out the properties because they were asking too much money. The houses are not being maintainted.

      Delete
    3. Flipping is messing up my neighborhood, too. Yes, it's driving up home values for all of us, but it's given us buyers who don't care about the area or the neighbors. They want their profit and then they move on. The finished houses never seem to go on the market. They always seem to be sold behind the scenes to someone who's likely to resell soon, too. This used to be a stable neighborhood with people who lived here since the street was paved, raised families here, invested their lives here, and cared about each other and what was going on. Not any more. Flip and get out and flip again. It's sad to watch.

      Delete
  22. That's really great news! I'm glad it will be back in the summer and that we won't have to wait so long to see new episodes.

    1. I would like to know how they are doing as well. Also, has Josh and Derek been allowed to attend the family weddings even though they are no longer on the show?

      Delete
    2. 9:45, yes they were both at the weddings, you could actually see Josh in a couple shots

      Delete
    3. Wasn't Josh in Joe's wedding? Anna was on stage as a bridesmaid during the rehearsal. It looked like they used a stand-in for Josh while the cameras were rolling for that. There's a guy in a coral shirt shown from the back standing next to Anna, and I didn't recognize him. But on the actual wedding day, I think Josh was off on the far right of the group, with Anna.

Wasn't Derick in the pews somewhere during the wedding?

      Delete
    4. Debbie, why do you think they would not be allowed at the weddings? TLC DOES NOT control the Duggars to that extent. TLC would edit them out of any footage and, as nest they could, not film them. TLC will have to get them sign release forms for the times filming them is unavoidable, like if Jill or Anna or any of the kids are part of the wedding party.

      Delete
    5. TLC doesn't control what happens at the Duggar weddings? Then why were Josh and Derick not even allowed to sit with the rest of their family in the aisles at recent weddings? You're kidding yourself.

      Delete
    6. Obviously the point Anon at 9:42AM made was that TLC doesn't control the Duggars to "that extent" meaning to the extent of actually banning family members from weddings (or from labors in the case of Jill). Not that they have no input at all.

  25. That's great news, just wish it'll be more than 7 episodes. This season went by too fast.

    1. I was wondering the same thing. In a previous episode they were fixing up the house for Grandma Duggar. Also, I wish the Duggars would move to UP. UP seems more family friendly and then maybe we could see more of Jill and Anna too. Love, Love, Love this show and Bringing Up Bates, too! Thanks so much for this blog! Y'all do a super job!

      Delete
    2. What is UP? I think Grandma must have decided to let Joe live there once he got engaged. Must not have been any other empty houses that Jim Bob could give them ??? Where will Josiah live? Maybe in the house James and Jason own?

      Delete
    3. The UP channel is 338 on Directv. That is the network that Bringing Up Bates is on. That is such a great show too and they are on a lot more during the year.

      Delete
    4. UP is the network the Bates are on. Everyone thinks it's a wonderful network because of that, but I guess they don't watch the other block of shows in the evenings on that network...one show in particular that is not exactly in the wholesome category...

  34. Curiosity has me asking, why do people refer to this show as Godly? Doesn’t the word mean in God’s image? Hardly how I would describe a TV show.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Most likely because of the Godly values and beliefs presented but those are falling by the wayside because the focus is hardly there any more like it used to be way back in the beginning.

      Delete
  35. I really wish the show would catch up on reality. They are more than six months behind I think?
They could definitely streamline the storylines- why do we see weddings twice? Why not cutting back on the endless flashbacks to the other weddings, why feature JB and M so much? Cutting this out would bring enough time to catch up and concentrate on the older children and their lives.

    ReplyDelete

    1. The show is due back in august by which time Joe and Kendra will have their baby and be a few weeks away from their first anniversary so the show is almost a year behind in that respect. Josiahs courtship appears to be the most recent thing to be coverec but by august they will probably already be married so again old news. Time to do a couple of specials a year, it makes more sense.

      Delete
    2. Agree. The time lag is terrible.

      Delete
  36. Just no. There's been too many rehashes of the SAME material. It's really getting old real fast. Courtship. Wedding. Baby announcement. Just insert a J name and there is the next 12 seasons

  37. Felt strange (to me)not seeing Jill, Derick and their children. When Jessa was recapping the season she did not even mention Samuel's birth - VERY POOR TASTE. TLC should be ashamed of themselves if they will not allow their names to me mentioned, I do not care if I see Josh, but would like to be kept up to date on Anna and the children.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Duggars fans will always find something to complain about. Now, it is that Samuel is not talked about as if everything the Duggars say is scripted. You assume it is the fault of TLC.

These are minors and TLC MUST obtain the permission of the parents before they appear or they are talked about on the show. Plus, just because fans are curious is not a valid enough reason to intrude on these children's privacy.

I think it is refreshing that Anna and Josh are keeping out of the spot light and protecting the privacy of their children.

      Delete
    2. Derick has been very clear that he and Jill opted to "quit" the show.

      Delete
    3. I feel the same. I'd also love to see how the younger children are doing as well.

      Delete
    4. Derick said he didn’t want his family on the show, stop blaming TLC

      Delete
    5. Derick said he doesn't want to volunteer for the show any more. Who can blame him? He could probably sell a story to a magazine if he needs extra income so why volunteer his time or his family's time.

      Delete
  38. I'm so happy the show is coming back this Summer. Like most, I wish the season was longer than 7 episodes. Will everyone (including Josh and Derek) be featured on the European show?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't get it. Why do Jessa and Ben act as though they're planning (or not planning) a next baby? How does that work with the "leave it up to God" thing? And I remember in years past, Anna would make comments about wanting more babies and raise her eyebrows while smiling at Josh as if she were asking him to be on board. Are they planning their families or aren't they? These interviews would indicate they are.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It sounds spiritual to say you are leaving it up to God but comments like these tell you otherwise. They have obsessed with constant testing too.

      Delete
    2. I recall those clips with Anna and Josh but the impression I got was that she was communicating "I want to have lots more babies, Josh, can we start working on that tonight, honey? *wink*" and it was the show's way of injecting a very subtle bit of adult humor. I also recall Anna saying interesting things about newly wed couples and when she expected them to get pregnant. Comments that would easily fly over the heads of young kids watching, but not quite G rated either. But nothing to do with whether Josh and Anna were actually making deliberate plans for another pregnancy.

  40. I'm sorry, I know you received a lot of opinions on the header, but I really hate it. It's way to small. You cannot see or read it very well. Part of the fun is seeing how much everyone has grown and changed, especially the twinkle in the little one's eyes. Please consider putting it back the way it was, I know it was big, but it's a big family and I really enjoyed those pics.Just add another row and don't worry about it being so big.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I really don't understand this obsession with the header that some people have, I hardly ever look at it to be honest. The purpose of the blog is for the admin to post news about the family and then people comment. Space is limited with the header and with such a large family it is going to be difficult to fit everybody in and its only going to get worse as more grandchildren come along and spouses get added. I think the admin should just use the most up to date group family picture and just change it when the family takes a new picture. Everyone has their opinions and I think the admin should just do what they want, because no matter what they do someone isn't happy.

  45. I'm waiting for the season where someone gives birth at a wedding reception, minutes after someone announces a courtship and someone else announces a pregnancy. Now that would be a dream come true for TLC. If this show continues long enough, that's a real possibility!

  46. It seems like the footage is already done for the next season, so why delay the release of it until Summer? This could have been their big chance to get caught up closer to real time!

  48. I don't like the header at all. I don't like that Josh and Anna and their kids are all squished into one pic. Their names all squished look weird and it makes no sense that Josie is with Grandma. Why can't you have a separate pic of Josie and Grandma separately?

  50. I'm so glad they've already made the commitment to another season, and we don't have to wonder if we've seen the last episode. I so wish the Duggars would move to another network that actually valued them and didn't judge them for not being "perfect." Christianity isn't about being perfect. Its about admitting that you aren't perfect, can't be perfect, and need a Savior to pay the death penalty that your crimes have incurred.

That said, I wish the show would talk about more than just weddings, births, and roasting coffee. I thought I heard someone say something at the rehearsal dinner about Joe returning from college, and I didn't know he'd been. We hear about those who are pastors, until they actually act like a pastor, and then they get vilified as though they have committed some shocking crime, when all they've done is assent to what the Bible says. The rest of the family, who knows what work they are doing, or what daily life looks like?

I love this family. They remind me of what normal looked like when I was a kid. Beyond that, in nearly every episode they convict me of sin, and lead me to apologize to my family and confess what I've done wrong. That only leads to better and better family life, and closer and more healed relationships.

    1. By the vilified I assume you are referring to Derick. Let’s turn this around.... let’s say someone went online and said something like “those Christians are fake, there is no such thing as a Christians, they are an abomination and Derick Dillard should be ashamed of himself for believing that Christian stuff. Let’s say the person making these statements was the star of another tv show on the same network. I am guessing that you would want that person off the air, after all how dare they say such things about something you believe in. Would you feel differently if the raw words were about your beliefs.

    2. Being a Christian and having a savior doesn't give you freedom to misbehave all you want, either, just because your sins might be forgiven. We all have personal responsibility.

    3. ITA Kathy. Derek made his point in a very uncharitable way. I mean, imagine if someone on another TLC show accused the Duggars of just exploiting their children, as Derek accused Jazz's parents of doing. Or perhaps kept referring to the Duggar courtships as "fake" and staged for the camera, or referred to their marriages as "arranged marriages" knowing that's not what the Duggars actually believe, the way Derek kept referring to Jazz as "him" knowing the family sincerely believes Jazz is a girl.

Now, Derek has been very vocal (or whatever the virtual equivalent is) about many issues since he quit the show. He seems to be happy with not worrying about offending TV sponsors anymore. Good for him.
