Duggars Mourn the Loss of a Friend

Three days ago, the Duggar family lost a dear friend. Clark Wilson went home to be with the Lord after a two-year battle with cancer. He--along with his wife, Denise--knew both the Duggars and the Bates.

As a contractor, Clark was quick to use his talents to serve others. He and his family of 11 helped the Duggars build their house more than 12 years ago, and they helped the Bates add onto their house in 2008. We know that Denise and the family would appreciate your prayers during this difficult time.

    1. A funeral is a private matter, I doubt his family wants it broadcasted for America to see.

    2. I have watched private funerals online. Some funeral homes stream them these days, for out-of-town family and friends.

  26. Such sad news. I used to follow the Wilson family’s blog, but they stopped posting to it not too long after Clark got sick. I’m very sorry to hear of his death, and hope it was peaceful, and that he was surrounded by his family when it happened.
Love and condolences to the Wilson family, and to their community.

  27. The Holy Spirit placed him on my heart a few days ago, and now I know why. I prayed then that God was healing him for the sake of his wife and children. Now I praise God that Clark is not suffering any longer on this earth, but he is home with God in Heaven. I pray that God will comfort and strengthen his family and friends in their grief.

    1. I would hope the Duggars would step up and help their good friend's family. They alone could insure that family's financial comfort for years to come.

    2. 9:31 your comment is really inappropriate. This isn't about whether the Duggars give or not. It would be wise to think before you comment!

    3. They owe that man a lot, in more ways than one.

    4. Anonymous 3:31,
It is never wise to count another person’s, or family’s, money. Speculation aside, none of us know how much money the Duggars have, or how much they share with others. It’s no one’s business but theirs.

  38. Doesn't this man have a wife and a lot of children? Why would God see fit to take him and leave that family without their husband and father?

    1. Everything works together for good.... yes, even the sad and hard stuff. It’s not our job to question God, pray for strength and courage to move through this difficult time.

    2. Yes, he does have a wife and several children. God’s plan was not for death and suffering and separation, but God gave us free will, and with that, sin and death and disease were able to enter the world. Thankfully we all have an opportunity to be with God for eternity, so although Clark’s family will miss him while they are separated here on earth, they still have the hope of spending eternity with God and their loved ones gone before.

    3. That is a question we are allowed to ask God, but we may not ever know the answer this side of heaven. (Isaiah 55:8-9) Something that I have come to realize and find peace in is that God is God in all things, and I am not. I can trust that He is good, and hard times in life do not change that quality about Him.

    5. I think we are all at the mercy of time, chance, and our own fallible human bodies. Life doesn't seem fair at times, but no one ever promised us it would be. My sincere condolenscences to the Wilson family.

  40. This man gave his expertise and valuable time from his own family to work for free at the Duggars house. The Duggars were always accepting of donations and free labor when their show started and pulled them out of poverty. And yes, they were in poverty. 16 people in a three bedroom house is poverty level per person.

I certainly hope that Jimbob is giving back to his family above and beyond what Clark did for them years ago.

    1. Remember, they didn't own that first house. It was the church's, on church-owned land. They had to move out because the house was going to be demolished. If Clark (and others) hadn't stepped in to help them get the new house finished, they would have been in quite a bind. So yes, there is a debt of gratitude there that can now be repaid in another helpful way, in that family's time of need.

    2. Thanks to Lily and Ellie for posting my comment. I post here often and usually they don’t print for others to see. I am a Duggar fan. I started out watching their specials back when Clark was helping them build their house and I took some advice from Michelle as a mother and used it in my own young family at the time. Over the years and looking into The homeschooling and training that they adopted is what turned me off and made me a critic. I admired Their living debt free principle and wish I could adopt the same ideals. However over the years when Jimbob has never accounted for the TV money and how it is distributed amongst the children has bothered me when the Gosselins were hounded to no end of accounting for their TV money. EVerytime they filmed and the kids were mic’d Up for the show they are “working” the kids helped JB and M make what could be milllions of dollars for all we know but we don’t reallly see the fruits of that work. I don’t mean to put this under Clark’s thread, but he was a big part of their specials and gave his time and expertise to building the house they have.

  44. I remember watching both shows when Mr Wilson was part of those shows helping both families. I can still remember Kelly Jo Bates reaction when she was given the addition of her home as a Mother's Day gift. Mr Wilson appeared to be a wonderful man, a wonderful Christian and someone that lived the example that Christ set for us in helping others. My prayers and sympathy are with his family and all those who knew and loved him..
