Mother-Daughter Time

In this scene, filmed shortly before Jinger Duggar married Jeremy Vuolo, Jinger goes through old photos with mom Michelle Duggar. At 8 lbs, 7 oz and 20 inches long, Jinger was one of Michelle's smallest babies. According to her parents, Jinger was a very obedient child, perhaps because she watched Jessa frequently get into trouble.

On another note, what do you think of Jim Bob and Michelle's newly decorated master bedroom?

  3. Aw, that was a sweet video. It's always fun to see pictures we haven't seen before, too. I do have to admit that that's probably one of the last color schemes I would choose for my bedroom, though.

  4. Here we go with the new seasons, bittersweet, etc. Cute baby pix.

  5. The room decor looks unsophisticated for a master bedroom. The colors and bedding print look more like a college dorm.

    1. Okay Martha; as in Stewart or Stuart or however it's spelled. Can see you think you are a professional at decorating. How about what appeals to us, not the masses so every house doesn't look like a cookie cutter copy of the last ones we have already seen?

    2. @2:25
Totally agree! Every house/room I see looks so cookie cutter. If that's the kind a of room they want let them have it! I think it looks nice!! :-)

I feel similar; however, to each their own. I mean it is just pillows and blankets.😀

    5. Lillie and Ellie asked what people think of the decor. Anon 12:20 gave her opinion. Chill already.

    6. Everybody has their own tastes in decorating. As long as you don't have to live with it, there shouldn't be a problem for you.

    7. Life would be boring if we all liked the same thing. They don't make queen/ king sized bedding for dorm rooms, so it isn't necessary to make that kind of comment. It is nice to change things up sometimes. The color is bright and cheery.

    8. Simmer down, Anon @ 2:25. She asked what's people think and this poster did just that. And she's right.

    9. Isn't this the girls' room? If so, it's not a master, and "dorm room" would be a perfect design fit! ;)

    13. Because Lilly and Ellie asked, honestly I would not be able to sleep in that room...way too much pattern and too visually "loud" for a highly visual person like me. It is more on trend with the college-age set style wise, but if they're happy with it so be it. I was surprised because I would think that as busy as their lives are and with the number of children still at home, they would have opted for something more restful (i.e. more monochromatic or "softer", restful complimentary colors) for their private quarters. It doesn't seem to fit with their overall decorating style, but to each their own.

      Delete
    14. And so? It's what they want. Not what Anonymous 12:20 wants.

      Delete
    15. I agree. It looks very similar to the girls' room.

    16. That green hurts my eyes and makes me queasy. I don't like the huge chevrons, either. Wonder which daughter decorated this room for them?

      Delete
    17. The problem is that the furniture is traditional and the new comforter is contemporary. So they don't match. But I like the brighter colors in that room.

  6. Hello there I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. I know this mini segment is devoted to the two of them spending some mother-daughter time. I politely request that there are not more rehashing of Jingers wedding. It is such old news and it can alienate fans and viewers simply by people becoming bored with the same old content. I am surprised that the duggars public relations team have not advised them on the repeat and repeated continual approach that TLC uses as potentially dangerous to their brand? Again I mean this politely so if possible can you Lillie and blog contributors please see if this can stop rehashing jingers wedding? Honestly and politely I am losing interest and because of this constant feeding of the same old thing, (jingers wedding) there is a good chance other people may be feeling the same way too!

    5. I've been a fan of the Duggars since they appeared on TV and they aren't boring me. This is also a fan blog, and they aren't a brand - They are a FAMILY. If you are losing interest, just don't click on the link or anything that has to do with Jinger. Simple as that.

    6. Justamom- If you think about it, the bottom line for TLC is money- trying to come up with new material all the time would be expensive and time-consuming. As long as people keep watching, the format won't really change.
It seems that it would be most practical just to have a few specials once in awhile, rather than trying to keep a series afloat.

      Delete
    7. 4:39- Sure, people can skip the videos that don't interest them. However, I think the point that Justamom was making is that if enough viewers are turned off by the repeat footage and same topics, they will tune out altogether. If TLC or the Duggars are not concerned enough about ratings to step up their game, the show will not be around much longer.

      Delete
    8. Yes thanks that is it exactly. Some people will quit watching the more that the same content is reused and subsequently the ratings could suffer.

    1. awful? how so?

      Delete
    2. Right?! Children should never be described as obedient. What a controlling and abusive household.

      Delete
    3. She said compliant not obedient

      Delete
    4. What's wrong with having obedient children? I know many parents with well behaved children.

      Delete
    5. Yeah, to be a obedient child is strange for this generation because parents don't raise their kids right anymore.

      Delete
    6. Wow, you must had been a not-so-obedient child? I feel sorry for your parents.

      Delete
    7. Seriously? I have five kids, and a kid who is "very obedient" makes life a lot more pleasant for all of us. I don't get the push for kids to do whatever they want. How is that preparing them for the life most people have, where you have to obey the law, obey your boss, etc.?

      Delete
    8. I don't think it's the fact that she was "obedient" that is strange, it's the fact that she was described that way. They could have said "sweet" or "loving" but they chose "obedient." Another case of speak first, think later? But it's frozen on film the first way.

      Delete
    9. The way the Duggars compliment their children is very dry and lacking in unique details which convey sincerity and emotion. While many parents would reminisce on a funny story or unique trait about their child, the Duggars stick to a strict script of canned praise: heart for the lord, precious, sweet, obedient, a great helper, etc. If my parents could only ever say the same robotic things they loved about me as they did my siblings, it would be very sad. Something about those parents is just off.

      Delete
    10. Isn't obedience the goal?

      Delete
    11. Having an obedient/compliant child is a not always a good thing. It's not a good thing when the child believes or is made to feel (either by their personal experience or just their perception) that obedience equals approval, acceptance, or "love". Obedience is not keeping a set of rules to avoid punishment,it's a heart attitude of actually loving the other and wanting to cause them no harm. It's extremely sad that out of all the things a parent could say about their precious daughter, the thing most important to the parent is that the child is "compliant/obedient". Out of all the things, she could have chosen to say, she chose her/the parents' priority as obedience. Yes, as a mom, I want my soon to be sixteen-year-old to be obedient. More importantly though, I want her to be Godly, have integrity, love others, be a capable young lady, and fulfill her destiny. I love my daughter's enthusiasm, creativity, and heart for other people.

  11. I really enjoy seeing these videos I've never seen before It doesn't matter to me that it's old news. Whatever videos you have to share with us are greatly appreciated!
People do this all the time! They start complaining that it has gone for too long. They complained about Jill's wedding, Jessa's and now Jinger's!
You don't have to read the posts or watch the videos just move on. You'll see this complaining will happen again with Joy's wedding too. It's ridiculous.

    1. People complain because the continual discussions of the weddings for long after the wedding is over gets tiresome.

      Delete
    2. If a friend kept talking about her wedding almost seven months after it happened you would be looking for excuses to stay out of her way. I also think that its getting boring, it seems to be that this is almost all this priogramme is about. When I want to watch weddings/dresses i'll watch say yes to the dress.

  12. I enjoy seeing these videos also. I thought it was a really sweet video. Thank you for keeping us informed of everything that you can. :)

  13. I, too, agree that it's enough of Jinger's wedding already. Move on to new content. With all of those people in the family, no one is doing anything remotely interesting to post about? None of the older sons??, none of the younger-older sons?? How about Jana? Obviously she's doing nothing really either.
I agree that the parents' bedroom is awful. It does look like a college dorm to me. Not very grown up colors, it lacks any sophistication. Those colors would keep me up at night. Is the bedspread "USED AND SAVED THE DIFFERENCE?" How about the sheets, are they used too from the thrift store?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Definitely love when new footage is released, no matter what event it centered around! I don't understand why people are complaining. I think TLC just wound up with so much great footage they couldn't fit it all in the regular season (although I wish they would extend the seasons to be longer than 8 episodes). Please keep showing us newly released footage! We'll take it! :) P.S. I see a resemblance between Jinger and Josie based on thosr baby pics...never noticed it before! So cute!

  15. Maybe Jana designed the bedroom as part of a new business?

From what I can see of it (the video won't play), the walls and bedspread do seem loud enough to keep someone awake all night. I am not a fan of the chevron patterns that have shown up in many home goods lately. I hope it's a fad that will fade away.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree, fads are not a good design style. Classic and timeless always looks better for a sophisticated home. Leave the fads for apartments and dorms.

      Delete
    2. Maybe not everyone wants a sophisticated home or maybe they let one of the kids decorate. It isn't the wall color, so I doubt they will keep that design and color forever. Sometimes people just want something completely different. Bedspreads don't cost that much, and it is an easy change when they are ready for something different.

  19. I don't like that decor either. Adults' bedrooms should be soothing. There are too many colors going on in that room. The green is shocking and the stripes are jolting. It does look like a teenager picked things out.

  20. I think that TLC didn't have any time to air these segments that we see clipped here is due to the constant re-hasing of what we just saw before the commercial break. If they would quit doing that, as they do with their other shows too, they'd have enough air time to include these clips. TLC needs to take notice of this.

  26. This is such a cute video! I miss Michelle Duggar and I was glad to see her in this video. Her love for her children is incredibly! And their bedroom is so fun and bright!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Michelle has to be the most giving, loving, pleasant, caring, relatable, flexible, wise, beautiful women there has ever been. It bothers me when their family is criticized. Look how many fantastically prudent and loving children they have raised, not to mention how many they have inspired and guided through the years. She is so encouraging to me, whenever I am having a tough day or time, I always know I can take a peek at this blog and feel refreshed. I am a single 35 year old mother of 2, my oldest with slight autism. There have only been 4 women in my life that I have looked up to this much and Michelle is one of them...and I've never even met her in person!! My only request is that Michelle sit farther away from her steering wheel when driving. It is so dangerous to be that close in proximity to an airbag. I feel so protective of her as though she were my own auntie. Hinged and the rest of the kids hopefully understand they truly hit the Momma jackpot!!
