Duggars Returning to Reality TV?

There are rumors floating around that the Duggar family is returning to reality TV, as a few individuals claim to have seen them filming around Northwest Arkansas.

We know that fans are eager to see this super-sized clan reclaim its place in the TLC lineup, but we want to encourage everyone to proceed with caution when reading the tabloids. While some of what they report is fact, they have been proven in the past to have started many untrue (and also hurtful) rumors about Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their 19 children.

As of right now, there has been no official, public word from either TLC or the Duggar family regarding the possibility of a new show. Rest assured that if and when an announcement is made, we will share all the details. Meanwhile, we will continue to post the latest Duggar news and updates.

  1. I hope they do!!! BUT!! There is so much hate for this family right now I don't think they will return anytime soon :-(

  2. Not everyone loves the Duggars. For the sake of the children, the Duggars should not return to TV.

  3. Maybe the filming is for Jill and Jessa's show? I know the family makes cameos on their show.

  4. It's time for them to fade out of the limelight and focus on their families

  5. This family needs a lot of time to reflect, heal, revisit their "roots". It is not good for the children to be constantly in the limelight.

  13. I THINK TLC MADE A BIG MISTAKE BY TAKING THE SHOW OFF. I MISS THE DUGGARS AND HOPE TO SEE THEM ON TV AGAIN. PEOPLE DO MAKE MISTAKES AND SO LONG AS THEY ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE THEN I SEE NO REASON WHY WE CAN'T MOVE FORWARD WITH THE SHOW. PLEASE BRING BACK 19 KIDS AND COUNTING...

    1. Why do people on this blog always refer to the Kardashians when justifying bringing back the Duggars? First, they are not even part of the same network. Kardashians are Bravo--Duggars TLC. Its a very poor witness to judge the Kardashians in an attempt to make the sins of your favorite family look less "sinful ". I do believe that is what the Pharisees did.

  20. I have great respect for Michelle and Jim Bob. They showed themselves as people of integrity. Never were they prideful or thought of themselves as better! Michelle is a devoted wife to her husband but not a stefford wife. SShe shows people how to live in their faith no matter what curves life has thrown you. I don't cosign with their political views but their thoughtful of how others live. I wish they would return to TLC. I'm not interested in any other family because noone can take the Duggers place. I appreciate their conservative life style and I see them as being who they say they are and not playing to the camera! God bless them!

    2. Tabloids are nothing to be afraid of, if you have nothing to hide.

      Delete
    3. Don't be afraid of them, but don't trust them either. Tabloids get sued all the time for slander - some more than others. Reporting the facts isn't what their main goal is - otherwise they'd just be a newspaper. Creating sensation and drama is their goal. It makes them money!

    4. It doesn't hurt to have someone breathing down your neck all the time if you're a celebrity. It lets you know that if you slip, it's going to be all over the newsstand. Too many celebrities think they're untouchable & can do whatever they want with no backlash. Not good examples for others. Exposing them is sometimes what it takes to get them to go to rehab or otherwise reform their ways.

  41. Meant constructively (from a person who doesn't pretend to be without sins herself), if there IS a comeback show, and if it IS to be successful, there seems to be some missing humility from the Duggar parents still.

I am trying to offer a honest,Christian perspective here, with every giod wish for the Duggars' longterm future. It's only my view, but a very hinest one. It is important some Duggar fans don't fall into dismissing critics as 'haters' traps - many of us are genuinely horrified by what went on with Josh, and his parents' reactions (and I am talking about the abuse as a teen - the other stuff is bad, but not on that level).

We saw the interviews. Michelle said she had really 'believed' the public would see their viewpoint whilst she was waiting to see if 19 kids would be cancelled - and that's worrying. Many objective third parties, even Christians, can see there they did not seem to have a good understanding of abuse dynamics, even now, and there is genuine great concern about that (though that doesn't mean it can't be mended) - and many of us can independently scrutinise the situation on concrete evidence/statements we have in front of us, rather than accepting either side's position without scrutiny.

For me (and many others), it concerns me they seemed to be dismissing Josh's actions as just a 'curious boy in puberty'. If it were just that, he would have stopped after he was told he was distressing his sisters (otherwise healthy boys in puberty, with a more normative sexual empathy, would do that). He carried it on over a year. Even he said in his statement he stopped because he finally realised there would be consequences for him. I salute his honesty, and his efforts, but it does suggest he only stopped for that reason, rather than empathy for this victims (sexual empathy, not consequences, stops most boys/men behaving like that - and empathy can rarely be genuinely created where it is absent).

I'm not dismissing Josh, or any genuine attempts he has made to change. I do believe he's been trying, even if he still seems to have an empathy problem (look how he risked his kids', wife's, and family's interests again for sexual kicks).

But I still get the feeling his parents are in denial, certainly on the abuse - last time they were interviewed, they still appeared to be minimising, and not understanding the impact on the victims properly (Michelle even said it was only happening while the victims slept - the police reports are clear they accepted it happened whilst some victims were awake. Jim Bob said 'it wasn't rape, or anything like that' - no, it wasn't. But it's the forcing someone into sexual behaviour without their consent - and repeatedly, it seems - that causes the damage. Michelle also seemed to talk about how some of his victims 'probably weren't aware they were touched inappropriately' - a comment which suggests she hadn't spoke to her daughters, who had been sexually abused, at any length, to discover what they knew or not, etc).

I don't know if you will publish this, but I urge you too, or at least pass it onto the Duggars. I'm just one voice, but I would hope it was clear I'm not a hater, and am trying to be constructive based on my honest views, and perhaps they can reflect on my views amongst the thousands of others they must have received - even if my words are difficult, I am actually trying to help, and do not pretend I have never sinned. I only offer my honest input, and I do wish them the best.

    2. You have some excellent points. Too many fans think that any comment that is even slightly negative is hate speech. It is not. In fact, pointing out some of the discrepancies in comments made by the Duggars is more of a loving act than uncritical support. For the sake of all involved, the Duggars should remove themselves from the spot light and try to understand why Josh Duggar has no empathy and heal themselves.

  43. I know everyone is offering their opinions, good bad AND ugly, which is a shame, but when you go public, your life is an open book. But being Christians you're really picked to pieces by those that don't have the same beliefs. Christians don't profess to be perfect. As a matter of fact we know we have sin like everyone else. With all the junk offered on tv I would much prefer to watch the Duggars. If TLC doesn't want to film them, I would be happy to watch you all on another station! Hang in there, we'll be watching for your family to return to tv!!

    1. You assume that they are being criticized only by non-Christians. There are many Christians who do not support the Duggars. Most non-christians would not have watched the show. And would not even care about the Duggars.

Yes, people make mistakes and are hyprocrites, like Josh Duggar. But Josh Duggar is not the only reason why people do not support the Duggars returning to TV.

By the way, there are many educational shows being aired on TV. Watch a news affaires show. Watch the news. Watch a show on Animal Planet.

  60. Children grow up & move away, have their own children, spouses, homes, & careers. Duggars now have 3 married children. When that happens, the dynamic changes. All families have problems & when you're public, most difficult. Out of Jim Bob's control

  67. I really doubt they will do it in the same way or capacity but of course we'd love to see the family in some respect! After all that everyone has been through it's probably too much, but the family is certainly large enough to find loop hopes here!

  68. Jim Bob and Michelle you and your family set a good Christian example of how to trust God in all things. If the opportunity is offered to come back on tv I hope you pray about it and find a way to say yes. I know being on a weekly program may be intrusive at times but everyone who are Christians know as you do that God will see us through all things. Thank you for your time.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. "I hope you pray about it and find a way to say yes." - what if the Duggars pray about it and hear God say 'No'? Finding a way to say yes would be going against Gods will ie disobedience, wouldn't you agree?
Praying isn't just asking God to bless opportunities given to us in life no matter how good they seem, or presuming whats happened before is what God wants us to do now - God brings different seasons in life even in ministry. And the Duggars have vocalised before being on TLC & in people magazine is their ministry. Has the season of them being on TLC in their ministry ended?
As much as I'd love to see them back on TV like you, I also respect that God may be moving them to other things as He cares for them & knows what's best for them far greater than I will ever do.
Regardless, I'm sure the Duggars would pray if TLC gave them an opportunity for a new show and I hope wait & listen for Gods answer first even if it's a no. Blessings.

  74. I think it's selfish for us to want the Duggars back on TV. I miss the show terribly but as much as this family has been through, I think it's time for them to live their lives out of the public eye. I've loved watching them over the years and feel like they're part of my extended family but I'd rather them not be on TV at this point. They'll only get raked over the coals time and time again and get asked the same questions about Josh time and time again. People will use them to pain all Christians in a bad light and I don't think we need any more of that. Just my two cents.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Agree. Josh's actions have brought such a reproach to the name of Christ and his followers. They really need to step away from the cameras. This show seems to have lost the ministry element that it had early on.

    2. If people really do love the Duggars, they should stop thinking of themselves and think what is best for the children of this family.Every news source will be after any fault they can find, if this family returns to t.v. God will show them a different path to spread the word if He wants them to continue. Raise your children teach them, and keep them out of the media.Do what is best for them and get on with the best intent for raising children without causing them any more pain.

  76. So many people give their opinions as if they were all knowing. The Duggars are God fearing people. I trust that they would ask God for His wisdom and that God will give them an answer that they will follow. So really when people give advise to them, it should only be to remind them to fast and pray and to only ask God for wisdom. People do not know God's bigger picture.

    ReplyDelete
  86. All in all I hope they don't come back.
I wish all the young ones to find their way and be happy, but they shouldn't have a public space.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I think they are famous enough. They can do fine without being on television. If they really want to do good and have a positive ministry they don't need a television show. It is especially harmful for the children to be constantly in the public eye.

  88. I would love to see the Duggars return to TLC.

  90. Opinions are just that. Certainly the Duggars pray for wisdom about what to do regarding initiating another contract with TLC. If this is the plan and ministry that God has for their family, then they should do it. If not, then they should decline. I know of someone who lives in their area who said that TLC crews were indeed in the area, but that does not mean anything.

  91. I really believe this famiy needs to remove themselves from the public eye completely. That means TV,magazines, twitter, facebook and any other type of social media, especially for the sake of the youngest children including Anna and Josh 's family. I fear monetary gain may even unknowingly be playing a part in this desire to be so public. I know so many fans.myself included.have been uplifted by this family, but the recent past points directly to a need fir massive healing. Neither TLC.UP network or People magazine care one bit about the Duggars other than their financial bottom line. It's time to leave the media out of their lives and be healed. God bless.

Having cameras in their house is all many of these children have ever known but it's really up to the parents to protect their children and I so hope Jim Bob & Michele can see the damage staying in the spotlight is doing to their family. I am still in shock that many family members were on that recent special where they spoke of their disappointment, etc. with Josh. Such a personal matter (their thoughts and feelings about their brother). How such detail was shared on national TV boggles the mind. I felt for them early on after the 1st scandal but it's hard to do so when they keep putting themselves in the spotlight.

    2. I agree. I thought it was extremely disrespectful to Josh--despite what he has done. To further his public humiliation by his own siblings is unfair. How is that Christ-like? Doesn't the Bible teach love covers a multitude of sin? How are they covering their son, brother, and husband from his she by making TV specials?

  92. Why have they been seen filming?

  93. I am still wondering why a family with such strict moral values agreed to appear on a channel like TLC, who has a wide range of tv shows including Jazz or Naked and afraid. I mean, the Duggars probably don't even have TLC at home, so why did they sign with them?

    1. It gives them a place to reach out to others with their evangelical values. It is a broad-based way to live out their call to witness. And the money doesn't hurt.

    2. TLC didn't used to be that way. But like most things, it's always about money.

  94. I think that the UP channel should have a show for them. TLC doesn't deserve them.

  95. I think everybody makes mistakes, even big ones. Michelle and Jim-Bob did not handle it properly, who knows how anyone could handle their son behaving like a filthy creep like that. As for Josh he has proven himself to be ungrateful for his upbringing and for the love of a good family, and wife. I don't agree with all they do, but then I don't have to. I don't think it was right the victims Relived this publicly, that was very unfair. I do enjoy watching how they handle life and I think the family should not suffer for the disgraceful behaviour of one, just as it is not the whole churches fault if there is a bad minister. I think the family should be given an opportunity to show how they have faced this challenge, and hopefully will return with a more open heart to those that are different, perhaps this can stop some of them from throwing stones...

  96. What really bothered me was the way Jim Bob went on Fox and stated that what happened was not uncommon, and that he knows other families going through the same thing or "worse." It really made me wonder what kinds of people are going to church with him but doing who knows what behind closed doors other times. What kinds of people are the Duggars running around with in their tight social circle, that they know these facts about all these problems? How many of us know so many families with a problem like this that we could toss it off as being common, like Jim Bob did? (Not anyone I know.)
