  9. I really really dislike it when at a wedsing they introduce the newlyweds as Mr. & Mrs. First name of the husband last name of the husband. It makes me feel like the woman has lost her identity doesn't matter anymore on her own but only as an extension of the husband. The new name made me think of that. Congrats!

    1. I don't think it detracts at all from a woman. It's just societal convention to designate the name of the family. You could say the same for the children -- do they lose their identity when referred to as "and family"?

Think of addressing Christmas cards. Isnt' it easier to say "Mr and Mrs Jim Bob Duggar and family" than to say "Jim Bob, Michelle, Josh, John David, Jana, Jill, Jessa, Jinger,................ Duggar"?

    2. Totally agree!!! I am a minister and I would say I present Jeremy and Jinger Vuolo.

    3. It's traditional etiquette - a formal letter or invitation would read Mr & Mrs Jeremy Vuolo. Its commonly used here in UK.

    4. In my mind, it doesn't mean a woman has lost her identity at all. It's just a way to describe the family.
