Merry Christmas from the Duggars

What does a Duggar-sized Christmas card look like? All 28 of the Duggars (Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their 19 kids, Grandma Duggar, Anna Duggar, Derick Dillard, Ben Seewald, and Josh and Anna's three kids) are featured on the family's 2014 Christmas card.

Next year, the Duggars' Christmas card will be even bigger, as they will add at least two more grandchildren to their brood. Jill and Derick Dillard are expecting a son in March, and Anna Duggar is 11 weeks pregnant with her fourth child. Jessa Duggar married Ben Seewald on November 1st, and if the newlyweds follow in the footsteps of Jessa's married siblings, another Duggar baby announcement will be made soon.

  1. Where is this 'card' from? Is it an actual Christmas card that Lily and Ellie got in the mail? Is it an email card? Or is it posted on social media somewhere? It is a lovely card for sure! Merry Christmas to the whole Duggar Clan from anonymous!

  12. This is a beautiful picture of their family. I love the Duggars. The only thing is Jesus wasn't born on December 25th or even in December. Shepherds were in the fields watching their flocks by night, and were visited by angles. The angles gave a major birth announcement of the messiah whom they were to go see in the manger. The shepherds didn't bring their sheep out in the cold winter weather. They stopped taking their sheep outside after the fall harvest. Jesus...also known as Yeshua (His real name) was probably born during the feast of Tabernacles/Sukkot in the fall. This year that happened in October. All the trappings of Christmas have absolutely nothing to do with the birth of Jesus/Yeshua. The magi weren't at his birth...as scripture states they visited the messiah in a house when He was around two years old.

  27. So what that Jesus wasn't born on December 25th? That is a date that the POPE chose, after prayer with the Holy Spirit for inspiration for all Christians to collectively come together all over the world to celebrate that event...an event which we know did take place. That date was chosen to sway attention away from the pagen winter solstice on December 21st. It was decided to help pagans turn to Christianity...nothing improper about celebrating together as a whole. ...strength in numbers.

Man...what pressure on a very young couple. What if they have problems? I wouldn't want that scrutiny on my marriage or fertility.

  34. There are historical and biblical records of Zechariah's (John the Baptist daddy) service in the temple. Luke chapter 1---v.8-11 says: So it was that while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his division, 9 according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot fell to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. 10 And the whole multitude of the people was praying outside at the hour of incense. 11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense." The honor of burning incense in the temple happened once in a priest's lifetime. Once he fulfilled this obligation he was no longer eligible to perform this duty.
During his service an angel told him he would be a father, and that he would call his son John.
Zechariah served in the temple during the feast of Shavuot (this year that fell on June 7th). You can do a search in the Old Testament to find verses which point to when his priestly linage service fell. So now that we know around the time Elizabeth conceived John we can figure out the time Jesus/Yeshua was born.
In Luke chapter 1:26-33, Elizabeth is six months pregnant with John the Baptist. During this time the angel Gabriel visits Mary and announces that she would give birth to the messiah. This visit from the angel fell in December/January. Mary received news she would conceive the Son of God. If you look nine months from the conception of Jesus/Yeshua, He would have been born during the feast of Tabernacles/Sukkot, which falls during September/October. So if we want to remember His birth we should do so during the Feast of Tabernacles.

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt (tabernacled) among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14
Don't you find it interesting that the Son of God was born in a manger. He was born in a temporary dwelling...the most humble of beginnings. During the Feast of Sukkot/Tabernacles people dwell in sukkah's, which are temporary dwellings. The feast days of the Bible are not just for Jewish believers but for everyone. Jesus/Yeshua kept His Fathers appointed feast dates. He did not keep man made traditions like Christmas.

  37. 22 Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. 23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch." John 10:22-23 The Feast of Dedication is Hanukkah, which commemorates the re-dedication of the Temple in 165 BC by the Maccabees after its desecration by the Syrians. It is marked by the kindling of lights.

  38. when we grew up and got married and left home to begin our own households, we made and sent our own Christmas cards as adults. Our parents didn't keep including the grown children on their cards. I considered it a wonderful, special, and grown up privelege to finally be able and grown up enough to do my own cards.

  39. To go along with anonymous #12. In the Bible Jesus said to Commemorate his death and not his Birthday. The Christmas Holiday is a Page celebration! Also it is lying telling your kids that Santa Claus is bringing you presents and that is one of God's commandment, thou shall not lie. Nice picture of the Duggar family but if they know the Bible they should know Dec 25 is not even close to Jesus Birthday.

  40. Christmas is NOT a pagan holiday. The winter solstice is the pagan holiday when the Druids worshipped the evergreen for it did not turn brown during the winter; as they didn't understand why that occurred. Astrologically, Dec 21st is the "shortest day of daylight" in the year. Christmas has nothing to do with that.... it was an added on commemoration of the birth of Jesus to draw attention away from pagan practices. The actual date of Christ's birth isn't known, whether it be in the Spring, Winter, or whenever. It is a date chosen for all Christians to come together to commemorate this event in unison. The gift giving is taken from the wise men who gave the Christ-child gifts of gold, frankenscents and muhrr. I do agree that the gift giving of today has gone way out of control and shouldn't be the focus of the holiday but connected to it because of this biblical act.

Romans 14:5&6. So wheather you choose to celebrate Christ's birth on Dec. 25th or every day ... I wish you all a blessed Christmas!

  44. I wonder if Ben and Jessa feel a lot of pressure about immediately having children. If for some reason, one of the Duggars actually CAN'T have kids, I hope he or she will not feel like a total failure. Children are a wonderful blessing, but are not the only wonderful or good thing in life.
