Quote from Michelle

On Sunday's episode, Michelle shared her heart with viewers regarding Josie and the new baby...

“I know that these challenges with Josie are different than anything that we’ve ever experienced before. And realizing that we’ve been blessed with another baby, I am still going to be on alert for Josie because she is definitely one that needs a little bit more care. But at the same time, I’m taking care of me and the new baby that God has given us and just trusting that we’ll make it through.”

  3. Michelle is such a wonderful woman of God. If you stop to think about it their family has something right. Fact #1 Right now Islam is expected to become the #1 religion in the nation. Fact #2 God said to replenish the earth and He never changed that command. Fact#3 Humans are the only creature to voluntarily choose not to have children. Conclusion Man in his greed to "have it all" (job, family, money, vacations, and things) has decided that following the comand to replenish the earth really means "have a couple children". Should Christians over the last century decided to follow God's command as Michelle and Jim Bob have the population of Christians would be dramatically increased. Thus, the # of Christians would be increasing and much larger a number thereby Islam would not be gaining so fast. But beyond that how many more Christians would be armed to help spread the Gospel. If every one of those potential children told only one person in their lifetime, hmmmm that thought is staggering. Man says it should be choice to abort our children or how many children we have but God said replenish the earth. Just for the record I preach to myself as well. This is not something God laid on my heart till the last 5 years. Wish I could have done things better.

  6. Some clarification details of a fact from anonymous. "Islam is expected to become the #1 religion in America". If so, it will be a long, long time before it happens.

Percent of American adults belonging to various religions in 2011: Christian 78.5%, Unaffiliated (includes agnostics, atheists) 16.1%, Jewish 1.7%, Other Faiths 1.2%, Buddhist 0.7% and then Muslim 0.6%. Even leaving out all other Christians to count only the most conservative Christian groups, they are still 43 times larger than Muslims. The conservative Christian churches in the United States have 26.3% of the adult population as members of their congregations.
In relation to growth, from 1990-2008 Christians as a whole lost 10% of their membership, however, Evangelicals, Pentecostals, non-denomination and unaffiliated-Christian groups grew between 0.3 and 3.5% during that time. Muslims grew 0.3% and adults unaffiliated with religion grew 6.8% (Statistics from the US Religious Landscape Survey and the American Religious Identification Survey both of which have reliable histories and documentation of their work)

I agree that if parents have the ability to have a large family with all it entails and feel God leading them to do so, then they should, irregardless of the number of Christians already in the US. I wish I could have had a large family. I also agree that many of us try to "have it all" instead of having what is best - our relationship with God.

  8. Hi Anonymous! (at 7:59 PM on Dec 2)

Josie is still more delicate than the average almost-two-year-old. For her, a minor cold or fever can turn into a major illness if the proper precautions are not taken. That's why she wasn't able to fly home from Israel with the rest of the family.

    Thanks for reading!

  9. Josie is getting so big! I just remember when she was still so tiny she was even smaller then my brother who was so very tiny at birth as well! Josie will get to the point were she will be a normal healthy little girl maybe a little behind on a few things but that's normal for a preemie!

  10. I have been married for almost 12 years now, had my first at 17. I grew up in church but never really had a relationship with the Lord. Anyways I always felt from relatives and my peers that having more than 2 or 3 kids was being irresponsible especially since I was so young....at #5 and #6 I actually had an abortion. I found a church where I actually grew to learn who I am in Christ and asked the Lord to forgive me. I started watching 19 kids and counting and found the Duggars to be an awesome example of what I wanted my family to look like. I have recently given birth to my 8th child! I am so thankful for God's word and families like the Duggars who live out their faith despite all the critisism.

  12. I admire you so much! Your whole family is inspiring and with my husband's cancer illness we are now experiencing, I gather strength from your life. You are helping others just by living the way you do.

Thanks you for raising responsible and productive children. I wish you the best with your next child, and I know God will continue to both bless and challenge you. We all walk through those experiences, and our choices define us as His children.

    You have chosen well.

  13. @Kay

Brother. America is not the world. Using statistics from just the nation you live in does not accurately represent the human race.

  14. I am a Muslim yet I admire the Duggar family tremendously. Muslims in the world are lacking the etiquette and character that many true Christians display. The Duggars especially. God Bless!

  15. Quality and quantity both displayed here!!!
There are many families...calling themselves Christians or Muslims alike who fail to adhere to God's Path. But then I see Christian families like the Duggars and Muslim families like my own and it feels good to see family values cherished.
