Duggars in Europe Part 2

Last week, we shared Jed and Katey Duggar's first video about their four-week trip to Europe. They traveled with their four children, as well as Jim Bob Duggar, Michelle Duggar, Johannah Duggar, Jennifer Duggar, Jordyn Duggar, and Josie Duggar. After traveling through Italy, they visited Disneyland Paris, the Eiffel Tower, and the city of Zurich, where the highlight was the Lindt Home of Chocolate. You can see all the details in their second 30-minute travel vlog

    3. Seriously. Why can't you take a trip without telling everyone about it?

    4. To show everyone they actually experienced some culture!

  3. Loved the video, wow did you pack a lot into the last couple weeks. Disneyland, Paris, what a dream, looks like all had a great time. What a treat to go to the Lindt chocolate factory..my favorite. The other theme park you went to in the video looked like a lot of fun. I got a kick out of Truit saying he missed Chick-fil-A. It was a nice balance of you going to Italy first and enjoying so much of the country side. What beautiful accommodations you had. I enjoyed all the different pictures of the Eiffel Tower and how it changed during day and night. When we were in France, we chose to do an excursion in the country, didn’t have time for the Eiffel Tower, wish we had.

  4. What kind of job allows you at that age to take a month off? Not "jealous," just wondering what sort of job you don't need to be so dedicated to that you can step away for a month and not have the business or your career suffer. (Or maybe it does suffer and you just don't care?) Is Jim Bob behind all this somehow?

    1. 1:21 obviously it’s because Jim Bob is self-employed with all his rentals, etc. Jed is either self-employed or family employed. This is a trip of a lifetime, great they have that flexibility.

    2. 1:21 your comment about if Jim Bob is behind this trip, I assume you mean did he pay for the trip. It’s possible he paid, he has been extremely generous with his children, buying homes, helping out with homes and giving money. They still have six children who are not married…probably trying to stretch their money out. I’m sure they are trying to be fair with all the kids.

  5. I don't like to watch their travel videos. They always act surprised or annoyed when they see things that are not like what they're used to back home. What's the point of traveling if you're constantly comparing other places to back home, and pointing out what you think is so weird there?

    1. Agreed. They make all Americans look bad! They should stay home and go to Silver Dollar City if they are going to have that attitude. I rolled my eyes so hard when Truett said he missed Chick-fil-A. I usually miss the food in Europe more than I miss the food in the U.S.!

    2. I agree too. A trip to Europe doesn't fit them. I don't know what they expected to find when they got there. Not 2000+ years of history and culture. Fast food and amusement parks like back home. Do they have any appreciation of different countries and different cultures? Have they studied European history or literature? They could have gone to Vegas if they wanted to see an Eiffel tower, and Florida or California if they needed to visit Disney. Paris lays its history of Roman settlement, kings, revolution, Monet, Voltaire, and WW2 at your feet. It's a waste to be there and not experience that.

    3. To each their own with where they want to spend their travel money. I’ve enjoyed parts of Europe without studying its history or literature. I don’t care where other people eat whether at home or on a trip so why would their McDonalds meals bother me either. The only thing off putting to me was when Katie was upset that the towing company hung up on Jed who was speaking English. As a receptionist in US, if I picked up the phone and someone obviously was speaking another language I may do the same. I might even think it’s just a prank call. When in a foreign company, especially outside of a major tourist are, never expect anyone to speak a language other than their own. Italians don’t come here and expect we all know Italian.

    4. 2:04. Silver dollar may be form of excitement, but some people like to add to their adventures, besides entertainment in their own back yard. After you explore the amusement parks in the US and all the natural wonders, you may be more interested in Europe. This video was proof of the amazing time they were having. Each to their own, some people like you may never want to travel.

  6. So enjoyed the videos. So sweet to see the extended family work and play together. What a sweetheart daughter-in-law Katie is, every parent -in-laws dream. It’s obvious from their interaction how much love and respect she has for Jim Bob and Michelle. Some people are so concerned about keeping boundaries, it’s nice that most of their daughter and son in laws are interested in developing a deep relationship, which take time and life experiences.

    1. @8:27pm I agree! There wasn’t any negativity, drama or griping! Just the family enjoying God’s beautiful creation and having fun in the little things, like watching the kids play in a playground or eating a meal together or enjoying the pool or an exciting Ferris Wheel ride! They all do love and respect each other! Glad they got to have this extended vacation together! They made a lot of Sweet Memories!

  8. How can you SAY they packed a lot in with Paris and Disney they did NO sight seeing ate fast food. They did Disney they could've stayed in the US and do that. What a wasted trip. Just my opinion

    1. 3:33. You should revisit the video.. it shows all the sights they saw, they were sightseeing the whole time except when they weren’t driving to get to the amazing locations. This is a once in a lifetime trip. You may not prefer to travel internationally, but obviously this family loved it.

    2. In their defense- I’ve been to Disney in Tokyo, it was a completely different experience than Disney in the US.

    3. @4:09pm I agree, Jed & Katie both said they loved their trip and enjoyed it so much. And that is all that really matters, making fun, sweet memories with your family wherever you go, like the simply joy of watching your kids enjoy eating gelato for the first time.

    4. I would love to do international Disney parks someday! It is definitely something I would make time for if I were near one. Plus Jed said something about how it was a treat for the kids.

    1. Let's be a bit cautious here. Jana may well want to do what Jinger, Jill and some of her other siblings do and not show her son's face.
