Day in the Life with the Dillards

Hi blog readers! We hope you are all doing well. We wanted to jump on to highlight a video that Jill and Derick Dillard recently uploaded to their YouTube channel. Their YouTube videos are few and far between, so you definitely won't want to miss this one. It is a "day in the life" video, narrated by Jill. In it, they reveal that they are homeschooling Israel Dillard, who just turned 10, and Samuel Dillard, who turns eight in July. Freddy Dillard will be three years old in July.

  1. I am so disappointed to hear that they went back to homeschooling!

  2. Glad to see the Dillard's doing well. I was surprised to hear they had gone to home schooling, funny she didn't explain the reason. I laughed when she said, " this angle isn't very flattering...no I'm not pregnant". Bust days for their family.

  3. Busy, organized family..nice to see the boys doing swimming lessons. . Looks like the boys are super disciplined, to follow along with learning through the homeschooling videos. Headphones great idea to keep focused. I’m sure there are many homeschool groups in your area to enjoy for field trips and other social outlets.

  4. I don't understand how you can go out for a run/walk yet you have to go to the chiro because you're still suffering from the car accident. Seems you'd avoid pounding pavement if you were in that condition. Seems you'd be at an ortho doc and PT instead. I wonder if the insurance company of the person who rear-ended them is watching that video?

    1. Oh my, how critical. I was in a serious accident years ago, and besides PT I continued to walk regularly, as advised by the doctor.

    2. @2:32 It's true that some people "inflate" injuries and doctor visits when someone else's insurance company is paying the claims. Yet when the doctors aren't looking, they do whatever they want. Not saying Jill is pulling this, but it sure looks odd that they're out running around yet say they still need doctor visits and adjustments. Jill should have explained better.

    1. Don't forget Ellie has her own blog and the Bates and 3 little ones be patient with her please. She can see it without the capital letters too.

    2. Not sure what you mean by true locations, but if it's where they live or take the kids, for their personal safety I don't think that should be shared. Not all people have good intentions unfortunately.

    3. There is only so much room for the header at the top of the page....the family has kind of outgrown it. Perhaps a photo page makes more sense.

  6. Is that how home schooling is done these days?

    1. The beauty of homeschooling is the parents get the freedom to decide what is best for their family in that given timeframe!

    2. No, only the lazy parents put their children in front of videos all day.

    3. @11:04 I'm sure Jill is hands on for some of their lessons. Kind of unfair to judge by a quick peek at their daily routine.

  7. Jill indicated that this was a typical day "in the life"..included swim lessons, schooling etc., but I didn't see any mention made about shower/bath time. Do these people not bathe every day? If a typical day, why was Derrick home and not at work at work at the office? I am sorry to see that they switched to homeschooling. It seemed that Israel thoroughly enjoyed being in school with his classmates. Am I wrong? Please explain. Thank you.

    1. Derick recently changed jobs. Maybe that's it. Depends on when this was filmed.

    2. @7:12 Perhaps because you don't need to see them bathing? I'm sure they take showers

    3. It's all their choice. The videos or pictures were a sampling from more than one day.

    4. Not being snarky but if you gave everyone a day in your life would you share that you had a shower or bath?
