Jinger on Daily Blast

The interviews just keep coming. Jinger (Duggar) Vuolo continues to promote her new book, Becoming Free Indeed, which has become very popular. Most recently, she was a guest on Daily Blast Live and The Christian Parenting Podcast. Have you read the book? What were your first impressions?

  1. Did they seriously say in the book that the Jonestown Massacre took place in Central America?

    1. It was South America. Guyana. Not sure what Jinger's book stated.

  2. I read the book in two hours. Jinger's faith mirrors my own in a lot of ways. I've had struggles that made me cling to jesus. The struggles were that of neglect and sexual abuse so somewhat different then jinger but struggles nonetheless. I am very inspired by jinger. She is amazing!

  3. And the interviews continue. Way to go Jinger. Her book sort of explodes the carefully crafted image of a happy family busily serving God with never a sad face or cross word.

    1. Who ever bought into that image in the first place? You could see it was all so forced.

    4. She is promoting her new book. This website is a fan blog that updates on almost everything about the Duggars except the ones that are going private now.

    5. Private or not, the grandchild list here needs to be updated so badly. There doesn't need to be any explanation about why there might be gaps between the kids, but at least give an accurate list of who has which children now and leave it there.

  6. I understand they want to sell the book and make money. Jinger needs to be concerned about over saturation. The public will tire of hearing from her especially if she's asked the same questions over and over and she answers with a scripted response....which she has been doing.

    1. She has done the same amount as other authors do.

    2. As soon as she stops promoting the book, it's going to fall into oblivion along with all the other books this family has had published. "Growing Up Duggar" is not even in the dollar store any more.

    3. 4:24 no book stays in any dollar store indefinitely

  10. Is Christian parenting supposed to be somehow better than ordinary parenting? Why that qualifier?

    1. It's not suppose to be any better. Everyone parents differently.

  11. Jinger is a real know it all now. She's decided she's the theological authority who everyone needs to clear everything up. Really she's just realized attacking her own is a great way to score big money so she's on the attack and nothing is sacred.i am sick of seeing g her face and I can't stand listening to her. I'm not interested in her trashing everyone for base gain.

    1. It's unfortunate how she worked out her first set of problems through a new church with its own set of problems. Will there be another book someday about "disentangling" from MacArthur?

      Delete
    2. I disagree. I don't see that Jinger is claiming any sort of 'spiritual authority". She's talking her experience of studying the Bible for herself and not just accepting what her parents told her. She moved from fear and anxiety to peace by doing that.

      Delete
    3. She was raised on man-made rules laid down by Bill Gothard and the IBLP. Why does it bother you so much that she's found freedom in Jesus Christ?

      Delete
    4. She has not attacked her family, she has said she believes they were trying to do something good. There is never a guarantee that a book will make money. It is her story to tell....you are rude.I don't care to hear more from you.

      Delete
    5. Are you part of the IBLP? lol

      Delete
    6. Jinger has openly berated the iblp and the founder who is way more educated than Ginger and who dedicated his entire life to conversions and growth in principles.

      Delete
    7. @3:47 Education has nothing to do with what sort of moral or immoral person you are, or how you treat others. Gothard's conversions and principles were his own ideas, for his own good. However, they did not stop him from becoming entangled in terrible personal troubles that no church and no society should condone.

  12. I haven't read it. I won't be reading it. I am very disappointed she is telling everyone she was raised in a cult. Parents do their best, making decisions to raise children the best they can. This should be honored not publicly disgraced. Her parents didn't do drugs or got drunk every night. As far as I know there was never any physical abuse. They wore dresses.... WOW. I think these issues were Jinger's issues and probably shouldn't be shared publicly to shame her family. Jim Bob and Michelle have my utmost respect, raising 18 children. Blame is not the way to receive true healing. I do pray that Jinger receives the healing she needs from the Lord.

    1. I'm not sure what you think a "cult" is, but the beliefs of IBLP pretty much meet that definition by most people's standards. Terrifying your children into obedience is NOT good parenting and that's what Jinger is calling out. I don't think Jinger is trying to "shame" her family. She's just relating her experiences and how they affected her. Talking about things is a path to healing.

    2. I was in that "cult." Ginger came to her own ideas from her understanding of life as a child. I never heard what she claims. I served in several ministries with IBLP, so I know what I'm talking about. We haven't heard her parents side either.

My opinion is it wasn't a cult. Were there some wrong things? Yes. Many. Many wrong things are believed by people though. Hopefully, one grows and develops and changes. No need to bash our parents.

To me, Ginger sounds like she's putting down her childhood to justify her current worldly lifestyle. She's hoping people will forget she fully embraced those beliefs at one time. Saying she was forced allows her the freedom to do what she once condemned.

    3. Jinger doesn't say a single bad thing about her parents. She just points out that the beliefs of the IBLP contained many man-made ideas not found in the Bible. She never says her family is a cult. She says that the IBLP community has many cult-like qualities. She is incredibly gracious and gentle in how she is expressing herself throughout.

      Delete
    4. @ 7:47 Part of being in a cult is denying that you're in a cult. Her parents made the decision to raise their children in a cult. That was not "the best they can." Anyone with a lick of sense who watched the show and took the time to read and learn about IBLP knew what was going on and was not surprised about problems both with that leadership and with that type of parenting.

    5. @5:59 That's like saying Russia has "many Communist-like qualities." Let's call things what they are.

  13. got the book from the library. I'm currently thinking she threw the baby out with the bathwater, but will withhold further judgment until I've read the book. However, i think she's being way to vocal/in the front/check me out right now. Its almost as if talking about it helps her to feel good about her decisions and she's seeking approval for those decisions like deep down she's doubting that they were the right ones. I've seen people do that. They make a decision then they tell everyone about it and keep telling like doing so will make them feel right about what they chose.

  14. I'm on a waiting list at my city library. I hear it's great and look forward to reading it. I support Jinger in her new-found freedom in Jesus Christ.

  15. I'm glad Jinger's book is doing well. I was raised in an abusive and dysfunctional home so I can relate to her. My parents were considered "pillars" of our Baptist church (Sunday teachers, deacons, etc.) and well regarded. Since it never occurred to me or my siblings to "go public" with our home life the facade they presented remained intact. However, as we became adults we all got jobs, packed our bags and moved out and made our own lives. I don't understand the adult Duggars lack of financial independence from JB and Michelle. If writing this book helps Jinger deal with her past, I see it as a good thing.

  16. I grew up with a very similar upbringing to Jinger. I was very much a part of IBLP and did many of the same conferences and opportunities as Jinger.

    1. @12:09 Your point is.....? Did you also put IBLP in the past? Do you feel it harmed you in any way?

  17. Anyone else notice the vocabulary in this book is not how Jinger normally speaks? Her TV appearances and homemade videos sound nothing like the book. A lot of the book sounded so anti-IBLP that I feel someone with an agenda for their own church wrote it. Hmmm. As my former English teacher would say, if you wrote this essay yourself, show me your notes.

  18. This book essentially was written by an employee of the Vuolo's church; not by Jinger. She supplied the stories and life experiences she had. After that, it was in someone else's hands. It's obvious.

    1. @7:48 You are quite correct. The speed with which the book was written and published is another clue that it was all handled by a professional.

    2. After seeing the words in print, I'm convinced that the use of colons, semi-colons, and choice of words were anyone's but Jinger's. She might have related the basics of her experiences, but they were definitely expounded on, arranged, and edited by someone who writes for a living.
