  2. August 2022?? Why announcing so far ahead? Plus $18 (way too expensive) for a children's book? Sounds like a cute book but I have questions.

    1. The publisher is "testing the water" to see if there's enough interest in the book to make a profit. Seems rather overpriced IMO.

    2. Books are so expensive in general. Have you been in a Barnes and Nible lately?

      Delete
    3. I agree about the price. I remember paying that price for Harry Potter books when my son was young (about £15 uk money). They were hardback & some had almost 700 pages. A book for young children should not retail at this price, I know I wouldn’t have spent that on a book for my kids at 4-7.

    4. I agree, that is a lot to spend on a picture book for that age group. Most of our books are from the library book sale (the profits pay for library services all year) or from yard sales. There are tons of discarded and unwanted books circulating out there. And as someone else said, open any Bible to this chapter. You can get a Bible free.

    5. I think because they live in such an expensive area and such a lavish lifestyle they don't see that the price is too high. I don't think they connect with the average income people anymore and so 18.00 isn't anything to them. I think if Jessa or Jill wrote a children's book it would be reasonable priced because they aren't real materialistic like that and so they would sell their book at a fair price that we could all buy. I could see one of them writing a children's book.

      Delete
    6. That is awful high for a child's book. We take our children to the library and pick out books and you get to keep them for 2 weeks and we return them and take out more. I only buy books that are on sale which I pay an average of 6.00 for them. Eighteen dollars is no where near a price I pay for a children's book.

      Delete
    7. It's normal price, the book prices are going up just like the food prices. The highest I seen was between 25-30 books. So technically this is cheaper. They also have to announce ahead of time these days. TV shows, books and movies are being pushed back and announced WAY ahead in advance.

      Delete
    8. Anon 8:28 That isn't a normal price for a children's book. You can buy hard back children's books for 5-8 dollars everywhere. If you are buying a children's book for $18.00 and up then you are paying way more then you should be. lol

      Delete
    9. I almost never buy books anymore.. I would rather go to the library

    10. @3:40 PM - It actually is a normal price. Not sure where you been these days. Unfortunately it is... And also a lot of these comments are coming from the same person, 3 people are acting like a bunch of anons starting trouble.

    12. I have paid a lot more than that for a children's book. My son is almost 17 and paid more for some of his books when he was 2 and 3 years old. Depends on the quality of the book.

  5. The title of this book is grammatically incorrect. It should real "You Should Shine So Brightly". Brightly is an adverb in this sentence and it tells "how"...How will you shine? Brightly. These two should have know better and the proofreader is also a sad one.

    1. "It should real" - yes, a proofreader would be nice. ๐Ÿ˜„

    2. I’m not defending their book. I think it’s silly. But I’m defending their right to use language however they like. “Proper” grammar is not the only (or even best or most pleasing) way to speak. If you’d like to use adverbs in their proper form, please do so. But language is so very personal. I like seeing how all different people use language.

      Delete
    3. I'm tickled that your post criticizing their lack of proofreading has a typo.

      Delete
    4. Language is used to communicate. To do so effectively requires proper grammar. Children should be taught proper grammar from their early years, to give them a good foundation in school and to communicate in life.

      Delete
    5. The title should "real"? lol

      Delete
    6. @7:11, it is important that correct grammar is used in a children's book so children learn early.

How someone speaks shows the level of education the person has and how thoughtful the person is.

      Delete
    7. It's not lack of proofreading, it's lack of proper usage. I suspect Jinger hasn't had a lot of adverb lessons and the title of this book didn't bother her. But I agree, an adverb is required. If you don't want to use one, that's a reflection on you and your education.

      Delete
    8. @7:11 I disagree. Proper grammar is a beautiful thing to hear and to read.

    9. Nobody likes a grammar snob. Sincerely, someone with a PhD in English.

    10. Right or wrong, it's called artistic license.

      Delete
    11. It's actually not incorrect. That's how it's suppose to be. Be real now, the only time people try to correct grammar is when they run out of things to insult people.

      Delete
    12. "It should real," "should have know better." Yep, someone needs a proofreader!

      Delete
    13. No, the title is correct. There is clearly no expert writers trying to degrade them lol. Someone couldn't even spell grammar right in the comments lol. People who do this usually ran out of things to pick at or at least tried in this case. Please child, get off this site.

    14. According to Oxford Dictionaries, bright is not only an adjective, but also an adverb, usually used with the verbs burn and shine. So, either bright or brightly works in the book title. However in speech brightly is almost always used over bright. Bright is used in poetic, literary forms. It seems that the grammar police have picked the bone quite clean here. Time to move on.

      Delete
    15. Every time a Duggar does something, someone always have to find something to pick at and act better than them. It's not that deep. People need to get over it. The people who correct other people's grammar (also misspelling grammar as grammer) are the ones that usually don't have anything left to insult someone so they try to use that. They act like some kind of refine 1800s backwash from a time portal. Their English, grammar and writing is FINE. It's suppose to be like that.

      Delete
    16. "Shine so bright" is like nails on a blackboard.

      Delete
    17. @1:14 PM - Good. I'm glad. It's a bit dramatic since it's no reason at all and it's absolutely correct.

      Delete
    18. 11:09, shine isn't a linking verb to make bright a predicate adjective, so bright(ly) has to be an adverb in this sentence. There's no word for it to modify as an adjective.

      Delete
    19. How about "You Shine"? Short, simple and to the point

    10. Anon 8:40. I'm not sure what Jeremy is doing now. He went to LA to attend a program, but they are rather vague about how long the program was to last and what sort of degree or certificate he was to get by attending it. They live a very affluent lifestyle in an expensive city. Most pastors don't make enough to support that lifestyle so I guess they do other things to earn money. Perhaps that's why they keep selling stuff on a web site and writing books.

    7. You do realize Unicef is a joke right? After all these years they should had done something better. And the royals, ha. They are there to pose for pictures.

      Delete
    8. They are a joke and they "should had done" something better? Obviously you don't know much about UNICEF. A charity that has been in business for 75 years is no joke. It's a fine organization that brought much-needed relief to children after WW2 and continues to do so.

      Delete
    9. @4:06 UNICEF is a credible charity that does a great deal of good in the world. As for the British Royal Family, they do more than pose for pictures. Do not confuse the antics of the lesser royals and "retired" members of the firm with the actual working members.

      Delete
    10. @11:22 AM - It's not a fine organization anymore. You need to do your research better. My school will not even touch that place. You think they are doing a great job, you go work there and see what they are actually doing.

    11. Agreed with you @9:24. It's sad but true. They are not who they use to be.

      Delete
    12. @9:24 Maybe you're looking at the wrong websites. US charity watch groups give Unicef a good rating, so does Forbes, and so do charity rating groups from other countries.

      Delete
    13. I dont live in the US 2:26, this is how I know how bad unicef is so drop it.

      Delete
    14. @8:16 I'm amazed that because you don't live in the US, you are able to know more about a US-based charity than US charity watch groups, Forbes magazine, and Unicef's own financial statement on file with the US government. Research the relationship between Unicef USA and Unicef before you disparage the entire organization.

      Delete
    15. @6:26 is not a US-based charity. It is part of the UN (but not funded) and has offices in many countries. UNICEF Canada has been rated very highly. It is a trusted charity here. @8:16, not living in the US does not give you any more insight into UNCEF's operations. Please explain your statements.

      Delete
    16. Unicef USA is the US-based charity for Unicef. Most people in the US refer to Unicef USA as just Unicef.

      Delete
    17. Unicef is not U.S. based.

      Delete
    18. UNICEF serves many countries around the globe with regional offices around the globe. However - their HEADQUARTERS are in New York City, NY, USA. The UNICEF headquarters are located at 3 United Nations Plaza, New York, NY. UNICEF USA's office is also in New York City at 125 Maiden Lane. Two separate offices - one for the headquarters that oversees all the global offices, and one for the US branch of the organization. So yes, they are "based" in the US - as in, that is their home address. And yes, Americans use UNICEF and UNICEF USA interchangeably because the regional office and the home office are both here in the same city.

    4. @8:00 People comment not from jealousy. They comment because the couple is not humble and seek to make money from self-promotion based on nothing more than name recognition.

      Delete
    5. Anon 10:17 I think the problem with how people feel about the Vuolos is that the Duggar fans are not the target audience of the Vuolos anymore. People who followed the Duggars admired their ministry work, their frugal ways, their many tips on helping people find creative ways to raise children to know and serve and love God. The Vuolos live a lifestyle of self promotion, designer clothes, expensive sushi and fine dining etc. etc. They love the Hollywood lifestyle. The Vuolos can live however they like but we are nothing like them. We are mostly hardworking folks who are involved in ministry, raising our children on a working man and womans income. We are frugal in lots of areas in our lives and we connect with like minded people. Our children aren't raised in excess and we don't want them to be. We don't chase after money or popularity and are content in our lives. The Vuolos target audience should be the people they are trying to be like which is the La crowd. I think that's why a lot of people say the things they do and act the way they do towards the Vuolos.

      Delete
    6. I think it's because the Vuolos want special recognition based on a TV show that no longer exists. They're not living the Christian principles that a pastor and his wife should be living. They are showing off their new lifestyle which doesn't fit them or become them and it wouldn't become anyone else either. Someday they might figure out that what's important in life isn't what restaurant you go to or what pen you carry or what sneakers you wear. Until then, it's hard to watch them try one money-making venture after another.

    1. The book is not even out yet. From what I read from their last book, it's pretty well written. These days books need to be a bit more modernized because NOBODY uses big words all the time. Not even in college. This is a childrens book by the way and please it is offensive to suggest any kind of improper grammar which you spelled incorrectly lol, I mean if you really want to go there we can but everybody comes from different places. The people that I assume you try to correct online like you tried to correct and failed with the Vuolos English might not be good yet and even people across America, from different states write and says things differently. Even for example: Tomatoes - Tomaters. Potatos - Potaters. Chamo-MILE tea - Chamo-MEAL tea. Please be kind and understanding. I would think in 2021 we wouldn't have people like you still doing that type of thing. Also, if you are upset by the price of the book which let's be honest here I am sure is just another thing you wanted to try to pick at with them more than anything, you should be more upset with the food prices right now. A book at the cost is pretty good and normal. Books usually run about $14.99 to $20.99.

    2. 8:08 I agree with that.

    1. There's nothing wrong about self-promotion and in fact it the most encouraging way these days. Being promoted by someone else is out of style and they also take money from author's earnings which is not right being that they did not write the book themselves. Promoters and Publishers are on their way out and it's about time. They are honestly a joke and take way to much credit. I seen it done way to many times.

    2. Funny how everyone loved the music CD the Duggar girls put out a few years ago....every bit as much self promotion as this book.

    3. I'm weary of their attempts at business schemes. Find one thing and stick with it. Are you a pastor, a coffee roaster, a candle maker, a hat seller, a SAHM, an author, what.

    4. Didn't know there was something wrong with self-promotion lol. I guess nobody should start their own business either.

    5. There is nothing wrong with self promoting. It’s how the Vuolos are going about it, is what’s irritating. Almost a year before it comes out is a bit much. That means they will be advertising it every other day for nearly a year. I recently viewed on IG, a real celebrity just announce his children’s book that is coming out in one month. Not a year from now.

    6. @12:30 PM So it must irritate you to when movies that are being promoted that don't come out until a year later... I hope you comment under their posts too.

    8. @ 8:01 Movies are promoting a whole crew of people. Everyone from writers, camera operators, actors, costume designers and even food and clean up crew. Everyone who gets up at all times of day and night to go and do their job. You get the point….hard working people.

    3. @9:21 It's a legitimate question because that business seemed to disappear as fast as it appeared.

    4. Sure you can. But the Vuolo’s don’t continue with what they started along with the new. They are very good at starting and quitting.

    7. 2:59 I think it was just something that their book promoter offered as a way to get more attention and money while promoting their book. It was never intended to be an ongoing business, and turned out to be a flop.

    8. They want to try different things. It's okay. How many jobs have you tried?

    9. Hey 11:58, I am sorry that what you gone through to make you petty against the Vuolos. Did it make yourself feel better? Probably for a while until you find something else. And if it isn't that please enlighten me on your success in life. You had no major flops? How many jobs you had? How many times you changed your mind? A lot of people have hobbies and jobs. Sometimes it doesn't always work out. It is not something to criticize over. You can have a stable good money making job for 20+ years and decide its not for you or your job gets shut down. A job is not 100% guaranteed. That's just life. I hate even admitting this but I went to college and got a great paying job until the pandemic hit and it caused the business I was working at to close. I had to move into an apartment. I lost the very first home I purchased. I raised my kids in there. I left behind a lot of years and great memories. It nearly sent me in a heart attack because I was so upset. I found strength to go on and realize I still can have a roof over my head. I am not on the streets yet. I can do this. There is a bigger plan here. I am working kinda the same job I had but for less until or if my old job comes back. Life happens that way and you just take what you are given.

  28. Much of the grammar used in these posts right here are also used incorrectly. Doesn't anyone know how to speak or write in English correctly any more? This is sad that our educational system, public OR homeschooled, are in such a state.

    2. If I may correct you as well, it's not appropriate or becoming correcting someone's grammar these days and in fact it can look bad on your part. Especially since these days we have multiple ethnic groups that live in the U.S. that is still learning English under our new rules of education. Sadly their children will not even learn how to write cursive in school. They have to rely on their parents that did not have much chances of education themselves. They also don't write a lot in school at all nor do spelling tests - they use tablets which I am fully against. They need to go back to the books. The Vuolos did not make any grammar mistakes and as for Ellie, she does correct her mistakes when she gets around to them. It is her blog and I think that if you want true grammatical you will have to make your own blog or find a magical time loop. The only ones that care about grammar these days is only when they want to insult people. I think it's time to grow up. You sound like you are in middle school trying to act superior than the rest of the class when you are not. Please, take a seat and read for a while. Come back when you are ready to act right.

    3. @9:27 I don't know where you live or what level of exposure you have to public schools. However, as a retired teacher and volunteer tutor in my local school, I take issue with your very broad overgeneralization of public education. It is biased and unfair. My state's board of education determines the goals and outcomes for students and writing is just one of them. In fact, a certain amount of time each day must be devoted to the core content areas. Students are evaluated on their ability to convey their thoughts in written form, as well as use grammatically correct sentences and correct spelling. (Yes, we have spelling tests and cursive writing!) We are living in a technological age, so it stands to reason that students are using it- it's a part of life and to deny that is impractical and counterproductive.

    4. @7:49 AM - You must of retired 20+ years ago because they are not even teaching grammar in English anymore and the teachers have the nerve to get mad at their students when they have to write and than handwriting is terrible. I wonder why... maybe because they are on tablets all day at school. And no MOST schools do not have spelling test and cursive. I know a lot of parents who says this and sadly they discover this during quarantine last year.

    5. A few years ago I chose to homeschool my children as well as a few other parents I know. It was the best decision I ever made. My kids don't struggle in school and know a lot more than public school students. I enrolled my kids in multiple public schools and each of them have failed so many students. I don't see how these kids are going to be prepared for college. You really need to be on top of your children school. I don't know how many times I heard parents over the pandemic be applaud over their childrens e-learning and homework. The system is not what it use to be. A lot of the 3rd and 4th grade read and write like they are still in kindergarten. They do ONE math problem. They don't teach english the same way and I can confirm no they don't do spelling tests like they use too. Now that my kids are homeschool they get spelling tests. They barely teach these kids history and science too. I heard the 6th to 12th grade curriculum is just as bad and a joke. A lady I go to church with her daughter graduated at the top of her class and when she got to college she couldn't even do the work because the school failed her. It's time to homeschool your kiddos if you are a stay at home parent. I understand some people have jobs, I quit to make sure my babies have what they need because I am not paying to have a school fail my children if they want to go to college. All these retired teachers for twenty-thirty years ago and back would be shocked and angry how they run these class rooms now.

    6. @7:59. Here, it is the opposite. Parents are concerned that their children have fallen behind because of the pandemic. They were thrilled that their children are back in school. Not every child does well with e-learning. Some do not have the attention span required; others need more instruction and still others did not have an adult who could sit with them and monitor their progress. Ihe number of complaints about how little the children are taught have decreased. As one woman told me, she never appreciated what the teachers actually do until she had to sit beside her child while he attended on-line classes.

The children here still have spelling tests. In fact, the spelling tests are in two languages, as many children are in emersion classes. Children are reading and writing in two languages by grade 2/3.

Science? Science is part of the curriculum from the earliest grades. The material feeds into the middle school and into the science high school courses.

Each year here there are thousands of high school students who successfully enter college and university. The overwhelming majority are public school graduates.

  31. I wish you would do away with all comments that attack or insult other posters. Having an opinion about the Duggars and what they're doing is one thing. It's what we're supposed to be talking about. Allowing comments that directly attack another poster is counterproductive and dragging down the reply section. How about you ignore those comments (or delete them) and stick to only posting comments about the Duggars and their activities? Example - talking about how the book is coming out early or costs a lot is fine. Telling other people that they need to grow up, are making themselves look bad, or that they are petty is not. There seems to be one person in particular (with bad grammar) who's attacking other posters lately. See 11/10 @9:27AM. This blog needs more editing of responses. This would be a better place if personal attacks weren't allowed any more.
