7-Month-Old Evy

Evelyn Forsyth is seven months old, and older brother Gideon recently turned three. Austin continues to build homes, while Joy stays home with the kids. It's hard to believe that Joy and Austin will celebrate their four-year wedding anniversary in May.

Evy recently had an appointment with a specialist because of a concerning bump on the back of her head. Thankfully, she received a good report.

  2. She looks just like her brother!! Cute smile!

  3. Cute kid. I'm glad Austin is working hard to provide for his family. I hope he has obtained his contractor's license for the house building activity. I'm not on board with the Duggar's habit of engaging in the building trades without the benefit of formal training and the proper licenses.

    1. It may not be a requirement in their location.

    2. Anon 4:20. That seems unlikely. Besides that who would want to buy a house that was built by an unlicensed contractor?

  4. Precious little one with her mama's smile.

  5. Joy and Austin, what a beautiful little girl and your son Gideon is so handsome. They both have smiles that light up their faces. Congratulations! Ruth, a faithful viewer!

  6. Why is she wearing any kind of band on her head if there's a potential problem with the way her skull is growing?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'm familiar with those bands. They are very softly stretchy, not anything restrictive.

    2. I thought the same thing. I hope the cranial specialist the took her too told her to cut down the headbands.

    3. I don’t think it affects skull growth 😂

    4. They had her checked out and there isn't a problem.

    5. I was wondering the same thing myself.

    6. I watched the video on their channel about the baby's skull. She was examined by a specialist and found to be ok.

    7. Soft and stretchy fabric shouldn't be a problem. Do people with foot problems go barefoot all the time?

      Delete
    8. People with foot problems usually aren't at the age when their foot bones are trying to grow and fuse the way skull plates are. A baby's head is constantly growing and changing and putting anything on it that would restrict it seems wrong.

      Delete
    9. If she has a bump on the back of her head, what do you think a piece of soft, stretchy fabric is going to do to damage that bump?

      Delete
    10. @7:16 Her skull sections were not growing together as smoothly as they should. Baby skulls have pieces that all have to work together as they grow, not be squeezed in any one way.

      Delete
    11. 4:22, if the issue is a bump I don't think something restrictive is going to make it bigger. 😄

      Delete
    12. 4:22, this is soft fabric, not a tight band. Her issue was a bump. Soft fabric isn't going to do anything with a bump, like soft socks aren't going to affect a foot problem (unless it's like an open wound or something).

    13. You'd think that (7:22 and 11:25), but the science behind keeping even a soft headband in place says otherwise. Less than a gram of pressure can move preemie skull bones, and a gram can move an older baby's skull. Those are nearly no pressure at all, yet they have an effect. You know how skulls can flatten simply from sleeping position, too.

    14. Good point, 4:22. Perhaps this was taken after they found out she was ok. Or maybe her bump was on an area not covered by the headband.

  7. Dear Joy and Austin, Evelyn is so cute sitting up. I think she looks like you Joy. I love the picture. I can't believe Gideon is almost 3. Congratulations on your anniversary coming in May. I hope to see the family on Counting On. Natashà b

  12. How cute wow it doesn't feel like 4 years already!

  13. You don't need to point out that Joy stays home with the kids. It's a pretty well-established fact that the Duggar women don't ever work outside the home.

    1. So what if they choose to stay home??

      Delete
    2. So they would rather raise their own children than trust a stranger with them, what's wrong with that? I'm sure one wage is enough to keep the family fed and clothed, they even own a house so they must be doing OK,and they obviously want their children to grow up loving their mom more than a babysitter!

    3. Thinking the blogger can post what she likes.

      Delete
    4. It's also a well-established fact that they try to get sponsorships from products and companies. They can't work outside the home but they can post selfies with hair and face care products and clothing.

    5. 3:55 If they can earn a little money on the side while being a SAHM, what's the problem? To be clear, I do not subscribe to the Duggar belief that women should not work outside the home. I am a firm advocate for young women learning a trade or getting post-secondary education in order to establish work experience. You can't depend on a man to support you forever- stuff happens. If a couple can afford to have one of them stay home with the kids, that's great.

    6. @6:25 My friend's daughter is a childcare worker with a 4-year degree in early childhood education. Hardly a "stranger" to children, maybe for the first 5 minutes. She has more training in taking care of children and doing what's developmentally appropriate than your average SAHM. She's not a "babysitter." Another friend owns a daycare and has a master's in education. Her daycare is also a pre-school. Again, not "babysitting." That's not what you call the specialists who are paid to take care of children all day while parents work. She has a lot of parents who would be "on assistance" (I know how people here don't like that) if they were not able to work and didn't have good daycare. Do not put down daycare workers! They are very skilled and caring.

      Delete
    7. Um, some day care workers are skilled and caring. And putting down SAHMs is off-putting.

    8. I don't care how many degrees a person has. A mother knows her child best.

    9. @7:53 In a perfect world. If what you said was true all the time, then there wouldn't be a need for social workers or foster homes. Fathers either, for that matter.

    2. @1:16 Evy had a lump on the back of her head. The pediatrician had Joy and Austin take Evy to a specialist to get it checked out. I think they thought there might be some irregularity in the growth of the skull. But it turned out that Evy was ok. You can watch the episode on Joy's YouTube channel.

    3. She was developing a bump on the back of her skull and they were concerned it was abnormal growth. Had to go to a childrens' hospital to have it checked.

    2. Genetics usually cause people to resemble family members. I'm surprised you've never noticed that!

  20. Some of us wish we could see a picture of the baby's back of head. My baby had a bump. A dermatologist had to score it and take out a benign thing that was inside.

    1. Eww. I don't want to see her bump. I would think the child should have at least a little privacy about a medical issue without a bunch of strangers curiously peering at her.

    2. It wasn't a cyst or a boil or something you could lance. It was a bump in her skull bones.

    3. 5:06, sounds like Dr. Pimple Popper is the show you should be watching. 😄

    4. My baby daughter had a large bump on one of the skull bones. The doc just sawed it off with a tiny little electric saw. There was a lot of blood they had to keep squirting off with a little hose. I don't know whether to thank God or the doctors. I guess the doctors. God doesn't get involve with everyone's operations. Anyway all is fine . She's 5 now and doesn't have a clue it happened.

      Delete
    5. 3 :39.. really dumb statement! God was IN the office guiding the Doctors in His miraculous way. Yes the docs did a good job but thank God tjey didn't do something crazy like saw off something else! Lol

      Delete
    6. 9:58: Sometimes, despite the doctors' best efforts, the patient dies while having the bump removed. Maybe god was not in the operating room those times?

      Delete
    7. 10:15, everyone dies. Does that mean God isn't anywhere anyone dies? Nope, doesn't mean that.
