Joy at 25 Weeks

Joy-Anna and Austin are just a few months away from meeting their daughter! Baby Girl Forsyth is due on August 19th, which means that Joy is 25 weeks pregnant. The first photo shows Joy's current bump, and the second photo shows her bump when she was approximately the same number of weeks along with Gideon.

    5. Thanks Anon, but Life's still been rocky since November 2016. Took a few tumbles and now I'm barely climbing back up.

  6. I pray that this baby is born in a hospital after all the trauma of Joy’s previous pregnancies. She looks good and seems to be less heavy than the first time.

    1. Tbh though a at home or a birthing center is much better right now because of the virus.

    2. Gideon was born; n a hospital by C-section, and her second pregnancy ended before the baby was viable and also occurred in the hospital. I am pretty sure she will deliver in a hospital and may have another C-section if this baby is as large as Gideon or God forbid breach. She deserves a joyous birth experience with no complications this time.

    3. I feel the same way, 6:32. The Duggar home births have been scary to watch, especially Jessa's, with all the 911 calls for dangerous bleeding afterward. I wish these ladies would realize the risks they are taking, with their birthing track records.

      Delete
    4. The poor girl looks healthy albeit extremely tired.

    5. I wanted to go to the hospital where there were professionals and get all the help there was, right from the first twinge! With 2 lives at stake, it's no time to be sitting around the house trying to prove anything.

I wouldn't worry about the virus. Most hospitals are well aware of cleanliness and protective protocol, have limited visitors, and some have totally separate buildings for maternity. I've been to a big medical facility twice to have tests in the last month and I felt safer there than at the supermarket.

      Delete
    6. I hope she goes to the hospital for this birth. Joy is a poor candidate for home birth with her medical history. Also the family seems to prefer a lay midwife for their home births which have led to all sorts of problems and emergency runs to the hospital.

  8. Why is Gideon only wearing a shirt and a diaper? They should dress him more conservatively like their parents did. Goodness sake, half naked and exposed to the internet!

    3. How dare you. I don’t understand why comments sexualizing a toddler are ever allowed to be posted on this blog, it’s disgusting. If that’s really the way you think about children then you need to be in a jail.

      Delete
    4. Half naked, really? He's 2 for heaven's sake.

      Delete
    5. Oh no! A toddler in a t-shirt and diaper! How immodest! Sarcasm and rolling my eyes.

      Delete
    6. I know I don’t understand why people feel the need to post public pictures of their kids with no pants. It’s not even a cute newborn with a diaper but a two year old toddler.

      Delete
    7. You don't have a child do you? That's what toddlers do. Some of the other toddlers on the show done this too. It's perfectly normal. Even Amish babies/toddlers run around like this.

      Delete
    8. They may be potty training? I think modesty rules for toddlers are ridiculous.

      Delete
    9. He's a child. And his privates are covered. I really don't see the issue here.

    10. All I have to say is, REALLY!

    13. Did you know? Negativity shortens your lifespan.

      Delete
    14. Half naked? You make me laugh! This boy only shows some leg...

      Delete
    15. seriously people replying to the og’s comment need to chill out. Of course there is nothing wrong with toddlers just wearing a diaper with no pants. But why post a picture like that to the public? It’s not like this photo was just for family and friends, it was for the whole world to see.

      Delete
    16. @4:46 I can cite at least 2 studies that say the opposite - optimism shortens it and pessimism lengthens it. Negativity and pessimism create the drive that can compel people to live longer.

      Delete
    17. A lot of toddlers run around in just their diaper and shirt or just diaper and shorts without a shirt. Joy may be in the process of potty training. But I can bet a million dollars that If this were a girl Toddler in the Duggar home, she would be fully clothed. With full length leggings. All for safe guards of course.

      Delete
    18. Most potty training toddlers run around home with no pants!! Not a big deal. Pretty sure most parenting books recommend it. So don’t criticize joy, tell her she’s doing a great job as a mom and encourage her!!

    19. 1:56, you beat me to it with your response! Exactly what I was going to say.

    20. MO- I had two boys 18 months apart and I was lucky if I could keep any clothes on them! The boys were in our fenced-in backyard playing. There were 2 workers next door building a deck- I heard the men laughing so I looked out my kitchen window and my boys had put their bathing suites on top of their heads and were running around! :o)

      Delete
    21. 12:56, there are many studies that show being an optimist leads to a longer lifespan. I did find a few that say the opposite. I don’t think there is a hard & fast rule either way. One thing is for sure, optimists are much more fun to be around!

      Delete
    22. Guess what my 15 month old son wears most days? Just a diaper. Why? Because he’s happiest that way.

      Delete
    23. How do you know what the babies wore when the cameras were off? Also, how do you know that was an all the time thing? You cannot judge someone based on ONE picture.

  9. No way would any of those girls have worn a t-shirt that tight when single. I'm done listening to any Duggar talk about modesty as if it applies to them.

    2. I wonder why the duggar women’s modesty standards change once they are pregnant. I understand they want to show off thier bump and not hide it. But it’s almost like the draw attention to their pregnant bodies on purpose. Like, hey, look at me! I’m being fruitful and multiplying! I wonder if they know that they can still lead men to have thoughts and desires that can’t be righteously fulfilled because they are drawing even more attention to every single curve of their body....

      Delete
    3. I remember them talking about "eye traps." How many are on that shirt? It may as well say "Look At My Bump."

      Delete
    4. Her shirt is fine. It looks tighter because it hugs her bump.

      Delete
    5. That's untrue. I am all about modesty and their shirts are not bad unless they was low cut and their bellies was sticking out. And anything you wear while pregnant is going to fit tight. Maternity tops are not flattering.

      Delete
    6. @Anon@8:52am: Surely, they will miss your encouraging words! (Sarcasm off)

      Delete
    7. It seems as though women of all classes and/or religions are wearing this type of shirt to show off their pregnancies. Not the way my generation (I'm 80) did it, but styles change. Joy, you look so happy and I am so glad this pregnancy is going well. I, too, hope you consider a hospital birth after what you went through with Gideon. By the way, you and Austin seem to be wonderful parents as Gideon always seems to be smiling. He is a good looking toddler!

    8. Old, old news. These girls have been wearing painted on tops while pregnant since day one.

      Delete
    9. Hello! Don't you get it? The reason for the very, tight shirt, is so Joy, can BEST DEFINE, the size,of her baby bump. Which is the MAIN reason for taking this pic. WITHOUT having to pull up her shirt and EXPOSE her BARE belly. Therefore MAINTAINING her modesty. YEEESSSHH!!! 🙄🤪

      Delete
    10. 8:52- You must've just started following them. The pregnant Duggar daughters have, for the most part, always worn the latest baby-bump enhancing, tight-fitting apparel. Nothing new here.

      Delete
    11. Not only is it tight, it has words on it that make you look.

      Delete
    12. I wish they would wear maternity clothes instead of stretching out regular clothes. Surely they can find and afford appropriate clothing at a thrift store and not have to break the bank.

      Delete
    13. What exactly is the point of showing the world how big your body is getting on any given day? If you eat a whole package of Oreos and a quart of ice cream, or if you have a big Thanksgiving meal, should you then don a tight t-shirt and take an "after" selfie? Wouldn't modest people prefer never to show body size? The whole "look how pregnant I am" selfie phenomenon is not being modest.

      Delete

  18. It's funny people calling out Joy for not being modest. Their t-shirts fit right. That's how they are suppose to be worn. Big t-shirt are used for night shirts. There are girls that wear their t-shirts so tight they look like little kids shirts with the chest sticking out and showing their belly button & wearing skirts so short that have their bum sticking out. Call out those girls. Not the girls that is actually wearing their clothes right lol.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I agree! Joy is wearing what I see a lot of other pregnant women wear now. Styles change. I would rather see a tighter shirt that isn’t low cut than the tents we wore years ago during pregnancy. They were so ugly!

      Delete
    2. How about we don’t call out any girls and choose for ourselves to dress the way that we see fit? You are only responsible for your own decisions, not anyone else’s.

      Delete
    3. The point here is that Joy and all her sisters and their mother made a HUGE DEAL about how "modestly" they dressed, and why. They wrote about it in their books. They talked about it on their TV shows. They got paid to be speakers at seminars about modest clothing. Yet here we go, get pregnant and all that modest clothing talk goes right out the window! You don't see anything unusual or worth commenting on about that??

      Delete
    4. Yes, and not only did they talk about wearing modest clothes when growing up, they also had to have their wedding dresses modified for modesty, and Michelle had to add that neck-high panel in her silver "fish scale" Mother of the Bride dress, remember that? But after the weddings are over and the pregnancies begin, they forget all about modesty. It makes no sense!

      Delete
    5. 11:25 - beautifully said. Let’s not call out any women for their choices. There is too much body-shaming.

      Delete
    6. @11:25 It would be easy to do that if the women involved didn't make such a big deal about how modestly they dress and then give us endless examples of the opposite.

      Delete
    7. To me it’s creepy that people are attempting to sexualize a pregnancy bump and claim the current pregnancy fashion is immodest. The neckline is high, she’s wearing a skirt, and she’s pregnant.

  19. GOOD GRIEF... EVERY BABY IS LIKE THIS WHEN SMALL AND IF YOU SAY YOURS WEREN'T YOUR A LIAR. AND KEEP YOUR NEGATIVE COMMENTS TO YOURSELF. THE LAST THING SHE NEEDS TO STRESS ABOUT IS RUDE COMMENTS. THERE ARE PICTURES ON INTERNET WITH KIDS IN BATH TUB. PRETTY NASTY FOR NOT EVEN WANTING YOUR NAME OUT. AND IF YOU FIND THIS OFFENSIVE I HAVE TO WONDER WHERE YOUR MIND IS.

    1. I believe that remark above was more of a comment on how every Duggar child is usually kept modest with legs covered from birth on. This was a notable exception, and a move to being more worldly, as you point out the internet shows.

      Delete
    2. Anon 10:52. a toddler wearing a T-shirt and a diaper is "worldly"? Are you serious?

      Delete
    3. A diaper and t shirt on a toddler running around his house is a move to being more worldly? I'm a Christian and wear skirts everyday, but I have to disagree with that one.

    3. That and "prego" grate on my nerves.

      Delete
    4. What would you call it?

      Delete
    5. Years ago, we used to call it "expecting" a baby. Sometimes we would say a woman was "pregnant", never "prego" or "baby bump".
I'm not a fan of the skin tight shirts that the Duggar women wear when they're pregnant but that's their choice.
Joy is so very proud of her "bump" but frankly, that is her "job"-repetitive reproduction. She doesn't have college credits or a degree and she doesn't have a vocational/technical education that would give her a sense of pride and accomplishment, Joy's "job" is being pregnant and having babies. While that's laudible, it involves a different set of goals in her life.
I am a teacher, married, and mother of 3 teens.
I wish Joy and Austin all the best.

  25. Joy has stated that she enjoys being pregnant and is proud of her belly. While I personally don't see wearing skin tight shirts as "modest" if she wants to wear them so what? Obviously the Duggars have moved away from the their original "brand" of being frugal and modest now that they are established fixtures on TLC.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If they've moved away from their original "brand" then it's time to drop the pretense. Pull the books, pull the videos, stop talking about modesty, and let everyone know how and why you changed your mind. How about some transparency in that department.

  27. I'm so happy for Joy and Austin that this pregnancy is going well. While I'm not a fan of tight shirts leaving little to the imagination (pregnant or not), I hope everything continues going well for them and this little one.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I don’t understand all this talk about them not being modest when they’re pregnant. What’s wrong with wearing a shirt that fits? Would you rather they wear a sack and try to hide their bellies? Do you think there is something shameful about a pregnant body? The Duggar girls have always worn modest clothes that fit and are sometimes form fitting. The only time I can remember people complaining about their clothes when not pregnant, besides the unforgivable sin of Jinger and Jill wearing pants, was when Lauren wore a dress that *gasp* showed that she actually has a waist that is smaller than her bust and hips! They never show cleavage, never show midriffs, never show upper thighs. They barely show clavicles and shoulders. Did you think their wedding dresses were too tight? They definitely showed off curves! Their standards have not changed. Some people just seem offended by pregnancy.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 11:24- I doubt anyone is offended by pregnancy, just some of the contradictory things the Duggars do. For instance, why is a form fitting top acceptable, but wearing a pair of jeans is not? I also don't buy the argument that pants are for men only. Fashion changes with the times and across cultures. Perhaps we should all go back to wearing robes and even the playing field.

      Delete
    2. Thank you 11:24! I was thinking the same thing!

  29. I'm so happy for Joy that she is now (when I write this) probably like 26-27 weeks already. One thing I still want to mention is why Duggar women like wearing tight shirts during pregnancy while there are so many wonderful maternity dresses!
