The 3 Oldest Grandchildren

Michael Duggar, Mackynzie Duggar, Marcus Duggar
Michael Duggar, Mackynzie Duggar, Marcus Duggar

How long have you been following the Duggar family? Do you remember watching the birth of their first grandchild, Mackynzie, in 18 Kids and Counting "First GrandDuggar" in October 2009? In June 2011, Michael's arrival aired in 19 Kids and Counting "First Grandson." Two years later, Marcus' debut was caught on camera in "GrandDuggar Makes 3."

With that backstory, above is a new photo of Jim Bob and Michelle's three oldest grandchildren, ages 10, 8, and 6. It won't be long before they are learning to drive!

  3. It had better be good and long before they're learning to drive. I sure hope Arkansas doesn't let kids drive anything until they're much older, and that the Duggars don't let these kids behind any wheel before then. I know how rules like that are often bent around there.

    1. Why such a negative attitude? Arkansas law allows kids to get a learners permit at 14, intermediate license at 16, and full license at 18. So only 4 more years for Mckynzie.

      ok, boomer.

    3. I am sure our blog person was only referring to how quickly time flies by. I don’t think she literally meant that they were going to get behind the wheel soon.

    4. Whether or not I agree with the opinion of 6:13 is of no concern, but 6:02 remark is not on the behalf of this boomer which is a faithful reader of all 3 blogs. I am Proud to be a boomer. There's lots of folks that didn't make it to my age. No guarantee for any of us.

    5. You are so right @12:37. Boomers have more collective wisdom and life experience than any Millennial. What a shame that M's can't ever come up with any better retort than "OK." Who are the first ones the M's call when they have a problem? Boomer Mom & Dad, who usually have to open the checkbook to solve the problem! Face facts - Boomers can outspend M's, have more savings, and aren't saddled with student loan debt. We also control the House and the Senate. Pretty powerful generation, all told.

"OK Boomer" is a catchphrase and meme that gained popularity among young people in November 2019, used to dismiss or mock attitudes stereotypically attributed to the baby boomer generation.

    7. Agreed, Anon 6:02! OK, boomer it is! Driving rules aren't important. They are mostly silly. Only old people care about them. Great point (and nice, original putdown, too)

    8. I don't understand why your generation keeps trying to knock the Boomer generation with the "OK, Boomer" insult, 6:02. I've seen it several times in social media now and I find it callous and annoying. Every generation has something to offer this world. Stop thinking yours is the center of it.

    9. BOOMERS ROCK!!!!

      Delete
    10. @9:40 Boomers literally did and do rock. It's the generation that took music over from Bing Crosby and Benny Goodman and turned it into some of the greatest stuff ever written (Beatles, Stones, Who, etc.). If it weren't for Boomers, you'd still be grooving to The Andrews Sisters and Glenn Miller.

    1. That's not pants. That's jeggings or leggings under a dress. It's just leg coverings under the dress they'd normally wear. When we see Anna or any of her girls in true pants with a shorter t-shirt top, that will be headlines.

      Delete
    2. Wearing pants under a dress isn’t any more progressive then wearing leggings under a dress. I hope when they’re older the girls will be allowed to wear shirts with jeans like a normal kid.

    3. I think it is so sad that people are so happy when a member of a conservative family put on a pair of pants. Not that pants or skirts make a diffrence in the fre gift of salvation that our wonderful savior provided for us. However I do see it as a sign of weakness to those with worldly views. It is not a symbol of strength and independence, but rather a symbol that we are willing to concede and give over to worldly ideals. First we concede to trousers, next we give our children to the indoctrination of public schooling, next it will be pro-choice and advocating for murder. However I do agree these are leggings.

    4. Goodness, I admire the ones who have stuck to skirts. I think it shows that they are not ashamed to listen to their personal convictions.

    7. @7:07 No, the boys have pants on. Look how loose those are from the knees down. Look at how those leggings hug Mackynzie's legs. They are not pants. If they were pants, they'd have bunched up in her boots, the way her brother's green pants are bunched.

    8. @5:05 This whole idea that women should not wear "trousers" was made up by human beings. If you don't want to wear them, fine. But don't say that women who do are somehow weakminded. Furthermore, I was a public school teacher for over 35 years. I am very tired of people making broad, uncomplimentary generalizations about us.

      Delete
    9. Women and girls wearing pants has nothing to do with being conservative. To me pants are more modest than dresses or skirts, each to their own.

      Delete
    10. 5:05, your comment is ludicrous. Are you seriously going to sit here and say that allowing your children to wear pants or go to public school in any way connects with abortion? Like what even. Also, there is nothing “worldly” about girls wearing pants. If you want to follow to follow cult like rules then you do that, but don’t EVER try to act like that makes you a better Christian. You need a serious heart check.

    13. April 21, 2020 at 8:30pm here Again. Just wanted to remind you all that pants for girls and women these days can come in all different kinds of fabrics. This however still doesn’t mean that she’s not wearing pants. Just because the pants aren’t bunched doesn’t mean she is still wearing pants. I actually wanted to say that I have a pair of pants just like hers and I wear them with a plain t shirt 👚 not a dress. She can wear a pair of pants however she likes, though if you’re going to wear a dress I recommend leggings underneath. You should be allowed to wear whatever you want. There shouldn’t be a code that says you should dress a certain way. You should be allowed to wear what ever makes you the most comfortable. Wear what ever makes you happy and what feels comfortable. #Freedom of Dress👖!!!

    14. @8:48 There's nothing wrong with changing previously held convictions. This often happens when presented with new information or evidence on something. I admire people who are willing to change and admit when they're wrong, or have learned something new that make a difference in their lives.

    15. @5:05- Fashion varies among cultures and over time. We also tend to wear what is practical. For me, living in a cold climate, I prefer to wear pants. You are free to wear dresses all the time if that's your thing, but don't disparage other women for not doing the same. It's certainly not a loving or Christian thing to do.

      Delete
    16. 5:05, I’ve been wearing pants my whole life & I've not had an abortion or murdered anyone. I also went to public school! I wonder how I escaped such a terrible fate?

    17. Hello April 21st, 2020 at 8:30pm here again. Just wanted to let you all know that what Mackynzie is wearing is considered pants. I have a pair of pants just like here and I don't wear them under dresses or skirts. I wear them with a plain T-shirt. Pants for women and girls today comes in all different kinds of fabrics. They don't have to be bounced in order to be considered pants. Pants can be pants even if they are not bounced. I honestly think all women or girls should be allowed to wear what they want weather that is pants or dress. I do however recommend that if you plan of wearing a dress or a skirt it's better to just wear a pair of legging underneath it instead of it. You should wear what ever makes you feel the most comfortable. #Freedom of Dress

    21. 5:05 & 10:34- Jill Duggar wears pants and her son is starting public school kindergarten. If you think of her as being weak-minded and on the "wrong side of life" as a result, I couldn't disagree more.

      Delete
    22. I understand 5:05 the point you are making. I sometimes stand here stunned at how so many people who have followed the Duggar s and were fans of theirs not only because of them being a large Christian family but also a family with very conservative values in lifestyle and dress and yet these same people seem so happy to see one of them change in those very values they once held to. I have seen people in my own life start making a little compromise here and then there until they found themselves on a path they never would have been had they held tight to their strong beliefs and convictions. They found themselves backsliding and in a mess. This doesn't happen overnight either, it's a slow process. Like the Lord says, "Its the little foxes that destroy the vine" bite by bite until it dies. I admire people who don't follow the world in dress code or lifestyle and I hold them in high esteem because that takes courage and strong conviction which are admirable characteristics. Praise God for folks who aren't willing to compromise!!

      Delete
    23. 10:34, wearing pants does not in any way add to an “accumulation of things” that are bad. Having a “greater than thou” attitude sure does though. I would check myself real quick if I were you.

    25. @10:34- I find the good or a godly presence in people in the way they treat others, especially when they think no one is paying attention. I don't look at whether a woman wears pants or not. I don't look at how or if someone follows some arbitrary rules that are primarily made up to appease church hierarchy or sanctimonious members. The many women who are on the front lines, selflessly treating COVID19 patients are likely wearing pants. I don't think a single one of them is weakminded for doing so.

      Delete
    3. 8:51, wearing pants with a shirt isn’t immodest. Why do you think it’s ok for the boys to but not the girls??

      Delete
    4. 6:12, it is okay for the girls to wear pants and shirts as well...but girls should be more careful in their modesty standards.

      Delete
    5. 8:36- Why is modesty more important for a woman than a man? Sounds like a double standard.

      Delete
    6. 11:01; modesty isn’t necessarily more important for women than men, but rather that women are more likely to struggle with modesty because fashion is usually more important to women than men:)

      Delete
    7. I don't have a struggle with modesty. Maybe others have a struggle with thinking thoughts they shouldn't be thinking when they look at clothing on a woman's body. That could include any clothing, you know.

      Delete
    8. 11:27; Yes it could include any clothing I agree. But ladies can still do their part by not purposely wearing clothing that will clearly and easily make others look twice or encourage people to think those thoughts. As the Bible says we are not to be a stumbling block.

      Delete
    9. @8:50 So women should wear potato sacks so as not to become stumbling blocks for someone who can't control their thoughts? Don't look if you don't want to see. If you do see, control yourself and your actions. Most people are capable of doing that. The ones who aren't have problems that more modest clothing is not going to solve. Don't parents like the Duggars teach their children to respect others, including all women?

      Delete
    10. 5:03; No, of course women shouldn’t wear potato sacks, women’s clothing should look feminine but not outlandish. The point you seem to be implying is that people like the Duggar’s are taught to respect others(yes)-but specifically women?? Well we can also put our focus on the women instead, they should just as well be respecting the men. Respecting that yes men should have self control in their thoughts, but women can easily influence that. They can either encourage or discourage those thoughts. When they understand this, respect this, and do their part-then they can truly say they had absolutely no part in the thoughts men might be having. Most people have a different idea of what this might look like, and if your modesty standards are different from mine, that’s totally fine.

    4. 12:42, you haven't seen any video footage of Prince William's wife Kate? She is a great example of the poise of royalty.

      Delete
    5. Anon 12.42. The poise of royalty just references how all the female royal family members carry themselves with such dignity. They are careful to be modest when getting in & out of cars so as not to show too much flesh, & have a sense of grace about them. Mackenzie always comes across in the same light to me. It’s just a personal opinion I have but she reminds me very much of a European royal.

      Delete
    6. Anon 10.36. I could not agree with you more about william’s wife Kate. I don’t know if you have seen lady Louise Windsor lately as well, she is taking on more royal duties now she is 16, but she has the same graceful dignity, she is prince Edward’s daughter.

      Delete
    7. The comment is about the way Mackenzie carries herself. My Moma used to say her mother-in-law was the most regal person she had ever seen. My Grandmother was tall with very staight posture and moved gracefully. Me, I move like a bull in a china shop!

    8. LOL 929 PM - I’m certain Pr Georges’ parents and Grandfather will vigorously discourage the prospect of an American bride based on the current drama with Megxit. And Mackynzie’s parents and grandparents will vigorously discourage her marriage to the future head of the Church of England which is quite a bit more liberal than the Baptists. :)

      Delete
    9. @11:14 Add to that, Prince George will one day will be King George. It is one thing for Prince Harry who will not inherit the throne to marry an American, it is another thing for the heir to the throne. And even with Prince Harry, it was assumed that his wife would take out British citizenship. She is obviously not going to do that.
Not only is there the problem with religion but there is citizenship (imagine the Queen Consort not being British) and education. Prince George will have the best education opportunities Britain can offer, given his future role. Maskynzie is being home schooled.

I do not understand the fascination Americans have with the Royal Family. You watch too much Hollywood romances.

      Delete
    10. It’s so bizarre to me that anyone would ever think she would have an opportunity to meet the British prince someday much less marry him.
Many of the Duggar fans seem to think they’re much more well known across the world than they really are.

    1. They never did what could be called dating. Josh spoke to her father in January 2008 and got permission to get to know her better. But Anna had given a promise not to court or get engaged before her 20th birthday, which wasn't until June of that year. So nothing you could call dating when on before the day Josh proposed on Anna's 20th birthday. Most of the relationship consisted of Josh talking to her father or Josh and Anna having very closely chaperoned time together, limited because of the distance between Florida and Arkansas. By the time Josh expressed interest in Anna that January, it was a done deal on his part and her father's part, so all they had to do was talk Anna into it. And she said yes on her 20th birthday in June. All this was explained on the episodes.

They hired a sky writer to say whether girl or boy on baby # 2 they name him Michael.
They went to church and Mr. Jim the sound man handed a paper to the Paster. The Paster called on Josh and Anna and asked if they knew Mr. Jim? Anna said yes they knew him. I became curious and started watching a few episodes on YouTube (back then I was still a student and had plenty of free time ;-)). Through the Duggars I also found out about the Bates family. I've been following both families ever since thorough reading Ellie's blogs and watching episodes that are available on YouTube. That's crazy. I cannot even tell why I'm so interested in them. I don't live their lifestyle and I can't talk about them to anybody because nobody knows them over here. Still, I always get excited when I read about a new courtship/engagement/baby anouncment on here :)
