Jill's New Haircut

Jill's hair before her new cut

Jill Dillard just made a drastic change to her appearance. She had a stylist take 14 inches off her hair and plans to donate it to an organization that makes wigs for individuals who have lost their hair. This is a big milestone for Jill, as she has never had that much taken off at one time. Have you ever donated your hair?

    1. You're right, she looks amazing and so radiant! Her old hair was dragging her down a lot, this is such a positive change! She really does look radiant.

    2. Much more current hairstyle looks good! The long hair looks like you live in the backcountry (IMO!!!). I'd love to see her get a part-time job at a child care center, CNA job at a nursing home, coffee shop, etc. Something to get out of the house and spread her wings a little! They could use the money and I think Derick would like her to have some outside interests like some of the Bates girls do (Josie-hair, Whitney-realtor)! Yay Jill.

    1. I am cancer survivor and k ow what's it is like to have little and no hair. My hisband for the first several years of our marriage would rutionly go his hair long and the. Donate it to locks of love. For me cause since the cancer I can't live with short hair. Its too much for me. I keep my hair long now.

    2. Her hair is not short. It is shorter but still long. Yes it is very nice!

  6. Jill looks like an attractive, modern young woman. I’m sure she is finding her new look very liberating. I’m glad she put aside her father’s silly preference for long hair and followed her own mind. Go Jill Go!!!!

    1. Having a preference for long hair is not silly. I love my hair long and I guarantee it is NOT a silly preference!

      Delete
    2. First of all technically her hair is still long. Second it isn't her fathers preference for long hair. It is a personal conviction of Michelle's that women should have long hair based off of how she interprets certain scripture verses. Third just because you disagree with someones opinion on something does not make it silly.

    3. Actually in one of the first specials when it was 14 kids and pregnant again Or 15 kids and counting , Jana Jill Jessa and Jinger specifically state that they keep their hair long bc that is thier fathers preference. That clip was shown when they filmed doing home perms and making their own laundry detergent

    4. i think the original poster was trying to say that because Jim Bob (or MIchelle) prefer long hair doesn’t mean the girls need to keep their hair that way. Personal preferences are fine but we have been told repeatedly that’s the way Jim Bob likes it. That’s what makes it “silly”.
Lighten up folks, these comments aren’t directed at you personally

      Delete
    5. 8:49...you are incorrect. Jim Bob expresses SEVERAL times on the show that he prefers the women and girls all keep their hair long.

    6. in one of the episodes years ago, the older girls were asked why they wear their hair long. first comment was our DAD prefers it long, then they said and we like it long. it is their fathers preference but those days are over. she looks great.

    7. I think it's bizarre that a father would want to control how long his daughter's hair is. Very controlling with no good reason.

  7. both her and her hair look good and healthy..so glad to see her

  8. Love the new look. Her new look frames her face and brings out her eyes and cheekbones. Love the way it brings out her natural beauty.

  12. Love it. It's a nice length for a young mother. Great that she's going to donate it. Some ot the others should think about cutting theirs .

    1. I agree. I think her hair looks much healthier now that all the split ends have been cut off.

  13. I think she looks much better with shorter hair. But I thought they were supposed to have long hair because the Bible says that women should have long hair.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I’ve never heard that before. What Bible verse are you referencing? I agree that she looks better with shorter hair.

      Delete
    2. Her her is still long by most people’s standards. It was just extremely long before.

      Delete
    3. It’s not that short. Besides, I’ve never figured out why scripture likes long hair. Why would anyone Interpreting God’s Word to us think that God is so narrow-minded as to tell women how long to wear their hair.

      Delete
    4. Her hair is still relatively long.

      Delete
    5. It’s like a medium length cut now.

      Delete
    6. Her hair is still long and it is a female hair style! That verse is talking about differentiating genders through dress and hair cuts. Women are to have long hair (nowhere does it say how many inches my own hair never gets beyond a certain length). Men are to have short hair. How long a lady wants her hair is a preference and like anything women's hair comes in all shapes and sizes! Now if she'd of gone out and shaved her head she'd be going against thar principle.

      Delete
    7. 12:25-her hair is still long. It is just shorter than what it was.

      Delete
    8. 4:38....1 Corinthians 11:15

      Delete
    9. You say men must have short hair? Didnt Jesus and many of his disciples have longer hair?

      Delete
    10. We don't have any photos of Jesus and His disciples, but since the Bible talks about men having shorter hair, we can probably assume theirs was an acceptable length.

      Delete
    11. How in the world would we know if Jesus and other men had long hair? Because that’s how artists imagine their hair?

      Delete
    12. 2:39, no where in the Bible does it say Jesus or any of his disciples had long hair, that’s just how it is depicted in movies and paintings.

      Delete
    13. 2;39 - it's in the bible before jesus. Hence, why many ignore that part as it was customs of the Jewish culture.

      Delete
    14. The Jewish men did not cut their hair because it was the practice of the Romans to cut their hair and sacrifice it to their pagan gods. So the Jewish men in contrast left their hair longer.

  14. Looks great! I’m guessing a big family announcement is coming soon 🙂

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Why? Does cutting hair mean you are pregnant?

      Delete
    2. Jill's hair cut isn't a sign that she's pregnant. Give her a break.

      Delete
    3. 12:31 get a life...not every Duggar is going to want to be pregnant Everytime they turn around....a hair cut is definitely not a symptom of pregnancy. Let these couples decide when and IF they want more children without pressure.

      Delete
    4. 12:21-that is ridiculous! I do not see how Jill cutting her hair would make you think she's going to have a big family announcement soon!

      Delete
    5. It should be their choice so if they decide to have many many children that's their choice as well

    1. There is nothing wrong with waist length hair. It happens to be very pretty!

      Delete
    2. 4:32, it’s very pretty if you are able to maintain it. My hair currently goes down to my waist but I make sure to get trims to prevent split ends, and I just take care of it overall. Jill’s did look overgrown rather than stylish, and this haircut suits her much better.

      Delete
    3. Long hair is pretty 4:32, but only if it trimmed regularly and properly cared for. Before the haircut Jill's hair looked tired and dry....now it is healthy and shiny.

      Delete
    4. As long as you keep the ends trimmed, long hair can be beautiful. Overgrown is a subjective thing.

  48. Jill looks amazing, in fact I think she has not looked so happy in a long time. It’s nice she is branching out a bit with her hair & moving away from it being so very long (very difficult to look after with young kids). Good idea to donate her locks too, lots of people do that & my daughter donated 18 inches of her curly ginger locks when she had her hair cut shorter six months ago, she donated to a children’s cancer charity that makes wigs for cancer patients & apparently ginger hair is in very short supply. Maybe the fact Jill is super close with Amy now is rubbing off on her & she is becoming more trendy like Amy. I hope she keeps it up as she really does look great.

  51. Yes donated twice...her hair looks great! Has so much more life to it now!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I do like long hair in general, but Jill's "before" hair was too much. You can't style it, except maybe making a bun which is too heavy. Curling such long hair still keeps it too long. Right now she looks amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think it looks great either way. If you love long hair you shouldn’t worry about what other people think about it. People don’t have to all look alike.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Jinger needs to do this too. The last 6" of her hair is completely fried due to the blonde dye she used.

    1. Yes, you are right. Whoever did her color should have used a shade closer to her natural color, then it would not have been so harsh on her ends. In my opinion I still prefer her as a brunette though with maybe some copper highlights.

    2. I saw a picture of her hair the other day, and the ends looked really dried out. I don't think she did herself or her hair any favors with that color.

    3. Have it your way but don’t put that on ALL women. Some women look good in short or medium hair lengths. Many older women look like heads with super long hair.

      Delete
    5. I don’t see this in Scripture

    7. anon12:09 I think it's wonderful that everyone can have their own beliefs and opinions, as long as they aren't trying to infringe on the rights or beliefs of other people, or treat others as spiritually inferior.

      Delete
    8. I am not judging your choice and I am sure it looks great. However, you may want to consider that you aren't getting the full benefit of the longer hair if it's so long you always have to wear it up. Having hair going to the middle of your back or waist would make it easier to wear it down more often.

      Delete
    9. @12:09 How do you feel about women in the military and in service jobs where they can't have long hair because of either safety or upkeep? Should women give up those jobs and not help their fellow human beings, including every one of us here, so they can grow their hair instead? The idea of women needing long hair becomes rather useless in that context, doesn't it?

      Delete
    10. Women can have long hair in the military; it just has to be styled in such a way so that it is above the collar.S.

      Delete
    11. @ 501 women should not be in military

      Delete
    12. @12;09 If you wear your hair up all the time why have long hair, that kind of defeats the purpose. After a certain age long hair ages all woman. All the adult Duggar women could use a nice haircut.

    14. @9:06 Really? Women should not be in the military? Women have served in important roles in the military for over 100 years. Ever heard of military nurses? Women working in offices? Code breakers?

Women today are pilots, nurses, doctors, engineers, work in logistics...and even are in combat roles. They serve their country with honor; some have died for their country.

Your comment is disrespectful to the women and to the men in uniform.

    1. Why do some women think short hair is attractive? It is all a matter of opinion. I hate short hair on women, but everyone gets to make their own choices. I wear mine long because that is how I like it.

    3. 2:26- They think that they're honoring God by having long hair, kind of like how in some religions women cover their heads with a cap or scarf.

Michele is too old to have the length she does. She needs the length that her mother in law had. For all you ladies that have long hair if you keep it up why have it long? That defeats the purpose.

  66. Can someone please explain who started this myth that long hair causes a receding hair line and baldness

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It’s not a myth -entirely. Pulling hair back too tightly (easily done with long hair), and/or wearing lots of hairpins also easily done with long hair can cause a receding hairline and/or bald areas. Look up traction induced alopecia and friction induced alopecia.

      Delete
    2. 2:07, the statement in itself isn’t true, however, if your hair is very long and you wear it pulled back constantly to keep it out of the way, THAT can cause a receding hairline. Long hair is also more likely to attract dirt, get split ends, roots are more easily damaged, etc, and that can lead to bald spots.

      Delete
    3. I think it has more to do with hairstyles and products, not the length if hair. Regularly pulling your hair back too tight in a ponytail can cause hair breakage around the hairline. Over time, this can cause damage to the hair follicles. My hair stylist told me this years ago. When I was a kid, I wore long hair and braids and I had a problem with this. I’ve worn my hair short as an adult, so it’s not an issue. My daughter has long hair and at one time used dry shampoo a few times per week. She started noticing small bald patches and she was frightened by this. Her hair stylist told her to stop using the product and those spots grew back and she didn’t have any more problems.

      Delete
  67. Michelle's hair is colored and unhealthy, so she can't donate it. The organizations cannot accept it. I agree that she is need of a good condition and a large amount cut off. She and it will look a lot better at this point. Her ends are stringy and not attractive. This is not an insult on her but an observation and many see and she does not.

    ReplyDelete
  68. She looks great and happy snd years younger!!!!!! It was longnover do un my opinion. And so brave of her to do that much all at once!!!!! Michelle looked so nicecwhen they did a make over on her once before. That perm fried crunchy friz is not attractive on anybody.
