Felicity at the Aquarium

Yesterday was Felicity's milestone 1st birthday. Jinger and Jeremy, along with Jeremy's parents, took the little darling to the Aquarium of the Pacific to celebrate.

  1. Nothing Duggar is left in Jinger. Hope they get their own tv show as there are some rumours around.

    1. Might be a good thing that there is no duggar left in her since she is a vuolo

    2. I'm sure there is plenty of Duggar left in Jinger, her good heart, her faith, etc.

    3. Jinger indeed changed a lot. I remember when they were kids or teenagers, Jessa was always this sharp, brave, outspoken, while Jinger just had her face expressions. Now she was able to express herself in her new image, clothes, hair and so on.

    4. What precisely do you mean by your first sentence?

      Delete
    5. She may be a Voulu now but she'll also always be a Duggar. She's just a more mature and independent version :)

    6. I love the look of blonde hair with black eyebrows. It is so classy.

      Delete
    7. Blonde hair and black eyebrows is a dead giveaway that you tampered with what God gave you.

      Delete
    8. 11:14 - Not always. There are plenty of natural blondes with darker eyebrows.
Do you think that Jana has tampered with what God gave her since she dyed her hair brown?
I hope you haven't ever dyed, curled or straightened your hair, worn makeup or high heels, or brightened your teeth. If so, you're a hypocrite.

      Delete
    9. 11:14- By your reasoning, it follows that makeup is also tampering with what God gave you.

      Delete
    10. Of course makeup is tampering with how god made you. See also: the societal value of women shaving their armpits and legs.

    11. @6:00AM That's true. Which is why it doesn't make sense that some of the most fundamentalist girls are the ones who wear the most make-up. The whole message of the modesty sermon gets lost when the lector is standing there with tons of make-up on!

      Delete
    12. Any female that shaves her legs and underarms, wears makeup, changes her hairstyle, plucks her eyebrows or even wears spanks are altering what God gave them. Let Jinger have fun , she's pretty and young. You're only young once. It's a lot better then all the makeup the Duggars wear.

    13. The Bates and the Duggar girls have always been very much into their appearances. It's surprising that they are allowed to express themselves like this when everything else about their lives is so tightly controlled by parents. It's something that attracts boys, too. Mixed message there. Attract the other gender but don't touch them and vice versa. It must make for a lot of unnecessary temptation and confusion. Maybe Michelle had it right with those long prairie dresses and only stopped because of TV?

    14. 9:55. You’d have to pry my mascara and Bic shaver out of my cold, dead hands!

      Delete
    15. 9:59, I agree, it doesn’t make a lot of sense. I think wearing make-up is the one thing they have control of so some of them go a little overboard with it.

    They are a cute family.
I love how Jinger has created her own style and always looks so pretty

    2. I don't know what you mean 10:56. He's happily taking one mood photo after the other around LA and sharing them with the world. LA seems to fit his personality more than Laredo ever could or did.

    3. Sounds like someone is jealous!

      Delete
    4. How do you know "he looks unhappy"?

      Delete
    5. Jinger is a catch. She has good Christian values, she is not into drugs or drinking, and she brought Jeremy on TV. I'm sure Jeremy is happy.

      Delete
    6. 10:56, I know you are just trying to get a rise out of people. So I shouldn’t take the bait and comment, but I’m going to anyway because people like you irritate me. I’m sure Jinger is still the lovely woman that Jeremy married. Just because you change your style doesn’t mean it changes who you are as a person. It’s just ridiculous to say Jeremy “doesn’t look all that happy?” I really think if her husband didn’t like the changes in Jinger’s style, she wouldn’t go for it.

      Delete
    7. I see that too! I thought I was the only one and don’t want to say anything!

      Delete
    8. He looks extremely happy. They are both as individuals and together exploring style and they seem to enjoy it.

      Delete
    9. Why is she different, because she's wearing jeans?and why is he not happy because he's not grinning from ear to ear????

      Delete
    10. Anon 10.56. I don’t think it’s a particularly good photo of Jeremy tbf. I’m know Jinger has changed a great deal since marriage, but I’m sure a lot of this is to do with Jeremy. I certainly don’t think she would dress so differently if he didn’t like it. Not everyone of these 19 children of JB & Michelle could be expected to totally follow all their rules on conservative dressing, there is always going to be some who branch out a little, & I don’t think Jinger will be anywhere near the last. I love her style, & I think they seem a happy, loving family. Everyone can take a photo every now & then, where they don’t look so great, maybe the sun was annoying him, could be anything. I don’t think he looks unhappy, more, just a bit tired. Most probably due to the move & his new study commitments.

      Delete
    11. Not sure what you are implying. Jeremy always looks happy to me.

    12. How many of us have honestly never changed in some way when we grew up and left home? I didn't strictly adhere to my upbringing in some ways. Some things I did because I had to, but now that I'm not under parental authority, I'm free to make my own choices. Same for anyone else.

      Delete
    13. You cannot make such a judgement based on one photo. You shouldn't be so judgemental period.

      Delete
    14. I think Jeremy is "happy" as long as Jinger continues to be his biggest cheerleader and follow through with how he wants things. No baby of his is going to wear thrift clothes or hand me downs. Plus he's not going to have a woman on his arm who does not "dress the part". As a professional soccer player he's not going to run around with someone in long skirts and shapeless tops. This probably won't get published because it's too frank and full of truth. But Jeremy is not the "typical" Duggar husband (jeans, tee shirts, no style, etc). Sorry guys but can't beat around the truth.

      Delete
    15. I personally think they both changed. Jeremy was once a Pastor of a Church and seemed so happy doing that. Jinger use to dress conservative and stood out from the world. Now Jeremy is on a reality show, left his Church with a woman who looks like any other woman in LA with blue streaks in her hair. Yeah I would say they have both changed drastically. LOL

      Delete
    16. One photograph is not a an accurate gauge of someone's level of happiness. If it were, we'd all be diagnosed as miserable. I've never been photogenic and my eyes are usually half closed!

      Delete
    17. I absolutely agree with you 12:35. You speak the truth and I'm glad it was published. Jeremy is super focused on selfies and publicity photos, where he and Jinger and Felicity have to be wearing the right things and looking the right way. He may have missed his calling in life to be an ad model. He sure likes doing that now.

      Delete
    18. Anon 12:35 Jeremy was a Pastor when he met Jinger. We never even heard of him unless someone was an avid soccer fan. If a woman has to totally reinvent herself and change so much about herself to be "on the arm of her husband", then she has made a serious error in judgement. As far as the other Duggar husbands having no style?, I think that was rude and I also think that they don't have a problem with vanity or being a people pleaser, wanting everyone to look at their newest flashy style of the day. That shows they are mature and secure in who they are and aren't worried about the opinions of man. Good for them.

      Delete
    19. Totally agree, 7:07! No way can anyone make any kind of judgment from one photo!!

      Delete
    20. Jinger and Jeremy changed together, and from what Jeremy previously said, he was never on board with the strict clothing rules that the Duggar choose to follow. They look like a very happy couple to me, enjoying life in a new city with their lovely little girl :)

      Delete
    21. I think Jeremy dresses and styles Jinger like an employee or an ornament. If you have feedback on the hair, clothes, etc., I think you can direct those to Jeremy. He did say his favorite thing about her was her meekness.

      Delete
    22. Honestly I think she changed BECAUSE OF Jeremy. They both love fashion and they're building a life for themselves where they can enjoy that too.
They seem to be perfectly fine.

      Delete
    23. I thought love of fashion or adornment was warned against in the Bible!

      Delete
    24. Jeremy is a very stylish man, even at the beginning Jessa was mentioning that she met him first and thought she should tell Jinger because she thought Jinger will like such a nicely dressed guy. So now this stylish guy is on TV, he gets a lot of attention on instagram. I'm sure he is very happy.

      Delete
    25. Anon 11:26 I don't think Jessa ever thought that her sister would move so far away from her and radically change the way she dresses and looks. I'm so happy that my family who are all close stayed around each other. Our kids go to school together, and we get to attend functions together and go to Church together. Being close to your family makes all the difference in life.

      Delete
    26. 2:06. If the Duggars aren’t concerned about opinions or attention, why do they have a TV show and do business with tabloids?

      Delete
    27. Anonymous 3:12 Most of the Duggar kids have stayed close to home and you’re right having family close is nice when possible....when you want to change your perspective on the world or you, putting some space between you and your family of origin may be necessary. We all deserve to seek and find our dreams even if it takes us across the globe from mom, dad and our siblings...Even though Jessa misses her sister I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t want Jinger or any of her sisters or brothers to sacrifice their own wishes dreams and identity to stay in their hometown.

  7. Definitely LA area can offer more entertainment and cultural options than Arkansas, for a child to grow up. I hope other family members will visit often.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Offering cultural options is one thing. Taking advantage of them is another. You can live in a culturally diverse place but keep to yourself or your same routine and never really experience what the area offers.

      Delete
    2. Many of my family’s best memories were of trips and vacations we took together. Likewise, some of my favorite episodes of 19 Kids and Counting were the ones where the Duggers exposed their family to all kinds of experiences in both foreign countries and close to home. It’s great to see the Dugger kids as adults offering those same experiences to their kids.

    4. They are better off in Texas.. especially in times such as these..

      Delete
    5. I'm not sure if you're implying that LA is a better environment for a child. If so, I'd say that there's more to a place than just providing entertainment or cultural options.

      Delete
    6. @7:26 Yes, I remember when the Duggars exposed their family to those experiences. We saw them making faces at unfamiliar food, trying to bother a palace guard, putting on clothes they thought were funny, and speaking Spanish to someone in Japan. Just because you're exposed to something doesn't mean you appreciate it or absorb it. A child needs the right kind of guidance and encouragement from their parents when visiting a new place, but the Duggars didn't provide that. Every time they were abroad, it was clear that they weren't going to fit in, weren't going to understand and appreciate the culture, and wanted to get back to Arkansas pronto. Why would LA be any different? It's a foreign land to Jinger.

      Delete
    7. Anon 10:51. So true. I don't think any of the Duggar kids really were given an introduction to the place they visited. Mostly they went to IBLP conferences with JB and Michelle and didn't make much of an effort to learn about or appreciate the culture of the place they visited. Then there were the honeymoon trips were it was obvious they were totally at a loss and had to be guided around by the TV crew.

      Delete
    8. Anon 8:31. Piles of garbage strewn around? What are you talking about? The city has trash pick up like any other city does and there aren't piles of garbage laying around everywhere. I've been to LA many times and never saw anything like that.

      Delete
    9. Anon 8:31. If you don't like LA, don't go there. But there's no reason to come on a blog and make these kinds of false statements.

      Delete
    10. Anon 8:23. Such times as these? Really. Reminds me of when year 2000 rolled in. The office where I worked made one of the managers go in and flush the toilets in the office on New Year's Day because there was a persistent rumor that they wouldn't work when it was 2000. lol

    15. Anon @ 12:24 PM: They were feeling at a loss on honeymoons and had to be guided by the TV crew??? Each couple that was shown on a honeymoon really ENJOYED themselves, wheereever they were - in Paris, Greece, Australia or Switzerland. They did more than any average American newlyweds could experience and afford, and I think you might be just jealous that nobody paid for your honeymoon.

      Delete
    16. @11:36 Those honeymoons and the activities they did were all set up by TLC so the crew could film. The couples did things TLC wanted them to do. They were "working" honeymoons. I don't think anyone is jealous of having to take a big camera crew along on a honeymoon. That's supposed to be private time! Didn't some of the kids later take their own honeymoon trips, no cameras? Tells you how enjoyable the first honeymoon must have been with everyone filming you and having to do what you're told to do.

      Delete
    17. Anon 11:36. Why would anyone be "jealous" of a honeymoon in which you had a TV crew filming you and having tricks played on you like the sparkling water in Paris and the drindl in Austria. It isn't my idea of a honeymoon when you're working the whole time.

I think it’s best to space children in a way that allows parents to be the best they can be and kids to get what they need. What ever works for your family be it 1, 2 or 3+ years apart go for it.

    1. I think it was a pipe dream, said while in NYC once because it all seemed so magical compared to home. I don't think she was serious, or she would have left home after graduation and found her own way there. NYC is one of the coolest places on Earth, but that big city vibe is not for Duggars.

      Delete
    2. 10:54... not all Duggars have the same ideals and dreams. Just because they were raised in a small town doesn't mean a big city is a pipe dream or "not for them". She did things on her own time. Good for her, I say. (And NYC is a cool place but not enough to make someone want to change their entire life based on a "pipe dream" whim.)

      Delete
    3. @ 10:54 “that big city vibe is not for Duggars” than I guess it’s a good thing Jinger is a Vuolo. Watching the kids grow up I always thought Jinger would be the one to lean into her own life and build her own identity separate from her family of origin and I’m happy to see her doing just that. Jeremy saw Jinger’s heart, her love for the lord and her excitement for life beyond Arkansas. He saw it and is making her dreams come true.

    4. @11:42 Jinger is a Duggar. 100% Duggar DNA and upbringing. What's in a name?

      Delete
    5. @10:55PM Lots of people move to NYC to fulfill their dreams. Just not Duggars. Cannot imagine them in such a liberal city, no cows, no wide open spaces.

@11:42PM I think Jeremy is making Jeremy's dreams come true and Jinger is going along because she's the Mrs.

      Delete
    6. 5:50 Nobody's DNA is 100% any particular family. You are part of all the genes that have been handed down on both mother's and father's side. On each side are countless ancestors from different branches on the tree that have contributed. An example is that my full sister inherited more Norwegian on our dad's side than I did. I inherited more Swede on my mom's side than she did.

      Delete
    7. @ 11:42 I agree, she seems genuinely excited about this move and their new surroundings.

@11:11 Could it be that their dreams align? Some husbands and wives enjoy it when their spouses dreams come true, some would even say being part of my spouse achieving their goals would be a dream come true for me.

      Delete
    8. Anon 12:38. That's so true, especially here in the US. I do have a friend that is 100% Italian. Her father came here as a young boy and her mother was the daughter of Italian immigrants. My family has been here so many generations there's no telling what has slipped into my DNA.

      Delete
    9. You are 100% your parents' DNA. You can't have been made from anyone else's. It doesn't matter what mix of DNA that might be. We're NOT talking ethnicity, we're talking the strands of your parents' DNA and the genes that you inherited from them. Duggar DNA, in Jinger's case. She didn't acquire any Vuolo DNA in her genes because she got married. Do a paternity test on her and the results would be exactly what you think: 100% Duggar DNA, whatever that consists of. Add 100% Duggar raising, and Jinger is most certainly still a Duggar inside no matter how you look at it.

      Delete
    10. 4:03- You misunderstood a point that was trying to be made. No one was stating that Jinger has Vuolo DNA. Rather, the point was that you inherit 50% of your DNA from your father and 50% from your mother. They, in turn, inherited the same ratio from their parents.. and so on. It's possible to not inherit any DNA at all from a direct ancestor, strangely enough. In any event, Jinger is not 100% a Duggar, in that she has 50% of her mother's genes. Michelle married a Duggar, she wasn't born one. We are all products of the DNA handed down from our ancestors through our own parents on both sides.

    4. @11:06 Jeremy said he felt the Lord was leading them in this new direction, if that means a megachurch and or a tv show good for them. They are young, he is just beginning his career, being a pastor does not mean he has to settle for a small church in a small community. Nothing wrong with aiming for the stars as long as you are lead by the Lord.

    6. Anonymous 8:40 or could it be that people are reacting to the changes they are making? The Duggar’s and their kids have been part of some fans lives for many many years, when they change it can take a while for everyone else to catch up.

      Delete
    7. They're not all expected changes though, and certainly not in keeping with how they described their upbringing and their philosophy. Are they finding there's more money to be made by acting a different way? Or is it freedom, the kind the rest of the world enjoys, they're seeking one pair of pants, one pair of shorts, one sleeveless top, one piercing, one streaked hair style at a time? If so, there goes the original "Biblical principles/modest dresses" premise of the original show. What makes a person change like that? Were their childhoods too restrictive? Couldn't they keep that up as adults?

    3. Jeremy is NOT "liberal". If he was he wouldn't be attending the school he's going to. He just doesn't make Jinger comply with JB and Michelle's "dress code" that's all.

    4. When I think of Jeremy, the last word to come to mind is liberal.

    5. I’m happy Jinger is able to choose her wardrobe based on her own sense of style. She always looks stylish, beautiful and depending on your understanding of the word...modest. Here’s to the fabulous example of a modern Christian couple Jeremy and Jinger provide.

    6. Stylish clothes don't make you more of a Christian than anyone else.

    7. @3:53- I think we need to remember that the Vuolo's, as as well as any TV "reality" celebrities, only let the public see what they want them to see. Their image is pretty much painted through social media posts, scripted TV episodes and magazine articles. I would not hold any of them up as examples of good Christians or people. Also, just because someone is a pastor is no guarantee that they are leading a life worthy of admiration or praise.

    8. I think people are putting a lot on Jeremy when it's Jinge r who has radically changed her dress style, hair style and color etc. Jeremy hasn't changed how he dresses or styles his hair and it's not Jeremy spending all kinds of money on clothes and accessories, it's Jinger doing that. Jeremy hasn't changed, Jinger changed. He is clearly the one who is more conservative and you can tell because of the way he carries himself. Most men would start to become a little concerned if their wife started becoming real materialistic like Jinger has and Jeremy might be one of them men and I'm thinking he probably is a little concerned about it being a Pastor like he is. Vanity destroys meakness.

    9. Just because Jeremy is a pastor does not mean he is immune from being vain enough to want his wife to dress a certain way and spend a lot money on her appearance. I'm not saying that he is, just that being a pastor does not make you some kind of saint.

    10. I'm thinking most Pastors wouldn't want their wife walking around in tight clothes with dyed blond hair with pink and blue streaks through it. He doesn't dress like her and his family doesn't dress like her. It's Jinger doing that not Jeremy.

    11. Jeremy probably wants a more normal looking wife. There's nothing wrong with women wearing pants, shorts or short sleeve or sleeveless tops. Jinger and I believe Jill both have mother in laws that dress like normal woman, so they can see that there's nothing wrong with it. The Dugger girls look ridiculous with pants then a dress over it. Also, how modest are they when they wear skin tight shirts when they are pregnant. You can actually see their belly buttons.

    12. Anon 6:30 You act like the Duggar girls dressed so abnormal when in fact most of us thought that was one of the most endearing characteristic of their family. It was refreshing to see a family that wasn't a clone of the world but rather stood out for the right reasons.

  25. What a lovely present for Felicity's 1st birthday :)
Pinger's hair color seems to have taken an odd turn, but maybe it's just the picture ? I loved her natural color, so rich and shiny... The Duggar girls in general are blessed with amazing hair anyway !

  26. Yes. Let your kids put their hands on the glass of the displays. The staff loves cleaning handprints off it.

    1. I worked at a museum as a tour guide for 3 years. Every day we got to clean the display glass at least twice to get the hand prints off. It was just part of the job.

    2. They'll be cleaning off all the other kids' fingerprints anyway. What's one more set?

    3. Oh my gosh! I'm sure employees at the aquarium loved seeing the picture of Felicity looking at the exhibits with so much interest. And, I'm sure she's not the only child who puts her hands on the glass.

When you look at both Jeremy's and Jinger's upbringing, it seems to me they have a strong faith in God. I think there's a lot of assumption going on in some of these unkind remarks. Good for Jeremy wanting to finish his education in the seminary; he doesn't have to want a megachurch. Most of the Methodist pastors I know and have known have been educated in the seminary. Few of them went to megachurches; most of them are serving churches in small to large districts and some are missionaries. I think that there mission fields everywhere; even in California. I think they're a fine young couple who love each other and their daughter.

    4. I worked at a museum too and the worst things were parents who wouldn't stop their kids from touching things, running amok, and pounding on glass cases.

  27. If Felicity gets used to going to the aquarium and Disneyland, she's not going to want to go to Silver Dollar City with her cousins.

    2. That's a weird comment... why wouldn't she? I used to go to DisneyWorld as a kid and I also went to small county fairs and the lake and the aquarium and friends' homes and trips abroad etc etc etc. Just because I've been to France doesn't mean I don't want to go to a small town 30 mins away from home. One has nothing to do with the other.

  28. Maybe it's Jeremy who picks out Jinger's clothes? Maybe he goes shopping with her and she's nota allowed to pick out her own stuff? Ii would think Jeremy, who is all in to appearance, would want Jinger to dress more stylish and so she does. Nothing wrong with her outfits. She looked awful before she married. Look at the difference. Nothing shows that shouldn't show.

    1. Or maybe she chooses her own clothes now that her daddy doesn't do it for her.
