3 Boys and 3 Girls

Mackynzie Duggar, Michael Duggar, Marcus Duggar, Meredith Duggar, Mason Duggar

Meredith Duggar, Mason Duggar

In November, Josh and Anna Duggar will have an even number of boys and girls. That’s right, baby number six is a sweet little girl!

Do you remember 10 years ago when Josh and Anna appeared on The Today Show with Meredith Vieira to find out the gender of their first child? They cut into a gender reveal cake, and the inside was pink. According to Anna, the cake was Grandma Duggar's idea, as she had heard about the then-new trend of gender reveal cakes and thought Josh and Anna should try it.

Josh and Anna were able to tell Grandma the exciting news of their sixth child's gender before she went home to be with the Lord almost two weeks ago.

Joy, Lauren, and Kendra are also due in November, so there might just be some more gender reveals coming soon.

  1. Awesome! I’m three for three right now with gender guesses. (I guessed all the Duggar girls would be having girls and that Amy would have a boy) We’ll have to wait and see about Joy, Kendra, and Lauren.

  2. It's nice that Josh and Anna will have three boys and three girls. I wonder if they will name her Mary after Josh's grandmother? Jane

    1. I was wondering the same thing. It would fit with their theme and be a nice way to honor Grandma Duggar

    2. What a lovely honour that would be, in memory of grandma Duggar, & if not as a first name at least incorporate it somewhere. It’s a very special connection to have for a child to share the name of a departed family member. My son shares my fathers name & my daughter shares my mother’s birthday & I feel it’s a nice way for both my children to feel close to the grandparents they never had the pleasure to meet.

    3. Anna said she was the last one due in November, so if one of the others has a girl they will probably beat her and use Mary first.

      Delete
    4. I think that nevertheless they will use it. Probably more of them will incorporate it in the name somehow.
If you think about it, Mason was born in September 2017 and they named him Mason Garrett. Then 9 months later, in June 2018, Joe and Kendra had a baby and they named him Garrett David. Just like Israel is Israel David. So they don't really have a problem repeating names. With Grandma Duggar especially, they will probably repeat it.
I'm excited anyway about this being the year of girls. After having a big disproportion (9 boys and 3 girls), they are evening out the numbers. :)

  3. This may be the "Year of the Girl". It would be fun if Joy, Kendra and Lauren all had girls.

YES congrats josh & Anna soon to be parents for baby number 6.

  4. I'll take a guess that Mary Michelle Duggar will be her name. :)

I already share a birthday with John Webster (Bates family member), maybe this will be the year I get to share a birthday with a Duggar family member.

    Congratulations.

    1. I really like the name Mary Michelle. What a great idea! I would definitely do that ☺️

      Delete
    2. I don't think they will "waste" 2 M names for just one child. :) They might want to use Michelle for another girl. Josh and Anna don't seem opposed to keep having kids while they can, so they will probably get to 10 kids or so.
What if they have three more girls? :P

    3. They call Meredith "Dithy" so they might go with Mary! I think it would be absolutely wonderful if they did.

    4. Yeah Joe, Josh, John, Josie and Joy sound sooo diferent

    2. I would like to see more of Anna and the kids. However, I think it's appropriate that Josh continues to stay off camera. Just putting Josh back on air as if nothing happened would ignore how incredibly wrong his actions were while discussing his teen years and infidelity would cause his family to have to rehash the past. It's ultimately unfair to those he hurt the most and would cause at lot criticism from the public that his sisters in particular don't deserve.

Anna is a wonderful mother and devoted wife, it's truly sad she has been through so much due to Josh's actions. I hope she and the kids are doing well. I also hope Josh has gotten the professional help he needs to walk down the right path.

    3. TLC said Josh is never coming back on, Anna is off by choice.

    4. It is better for Josh, Anna and their family that they live a quiet, normal live out of the glare of TV Cameras.

Those who truly care about the family should understand that.

    2. 6:19- that doesn’t mean they can’t use it. Jessa and Ben don’t own that name. Also, Josh and Anna had Mason Garret on sep 2017 and Joe and Kendra had Garrett David on Jun 2018, so I don’t think they care

    7. Just like the rest of us large families do! We live simply, shop at thrift stores, and thank God for providing our every need! When you have boy stuff and girl stuff, you don't need much else that's new. Cloth diapers save money. And grocery stores like Aldis cut costs! It's really not too hard!

      Delete
    8. 10:21 - Jim Bob owns the car lot. Josh is the same as the sons who work in the family business. Some of the other Duggars work with him at the lot.
We don't see enough of Josh and Anna to see how they're really doing. Praying that Josh holds true to his vows to Anna and treats her and their children as they deserves to be treated.

      Delete
    9. Anon 2:25, do you enjoy living like this?

      Delete
    10. Cloth nappies may save money but that’s a n awful lot of extra work for the mum who is already busy with a large family. If there is one thing I would put money aside for it would be disposable nappies, they are a god send for people with large families.

      Delete
    11. And obviously they don't need college accounts for their kids.

    12. Y’all must live where it’s super cheap! I only have 1 child and in central Florida it’s nearly impossible just to find a 2 bedroom we can afford

    13. Real estate is cheap in central Florida compared to elsewhere! My friends just bought a 3br/2ba house that would have cost double that in most other places.

    15. Cloth diapers are a godsend for large families. We have 11, and cloth diapered. I mean, we’re already doing laundry, so...

      Delete
    16. @7:31 Everyone "lives off the government" in one way or the other. Tax breaks, tax deductions, claiming your Social Security and Medicare benefits (when you could deny taking them, leaving that money in the system), etc. In fact, wealthy families like the Duggars take full advantage of every tax break there is, including establishing a farm, a church, a corporation, whatever is the most beneficial at tax time. I'm tired of people claiming the Duggars "don't live off the government." They'd have to move to another planet to get away from interacting with the government's money in any way or benefiting from it somehow. And I guess you've never heard the term "working poor" - people who work but still need assistance. When we were in the military, we qualified for WIC. Now that's something that ought to make you upset, not paying our military men and women enough to keep food on their tables. Hey, I guess we were "living off the government" with our paychecks then too, come to think of it.

      Delete
    17. 5:10- Very well said! All those kids=many tax benefits. That is a form of government assistance!

      Delete
    18. Collecting Social Security as a retired person is NOT "living off the government"!! If you have worked all your life you have paid into that all your life! Believe me when I say to you that isn't any prize.

      Delete
    19. As someone who collects survivor benefits off of social security and still working part time I am NOT living off the government. That is money my husband paid into and money I am still paying into. Money I am entitled to. Why would anyone not accept it. It's our money.

      Delete
    20. Also, to add to my above statement except for 6 yrs when I stayed home with my daughter I have worked ALL my adult life.

      Delete
    21. No Lynne, you're mistaken. Over your lifetime, you get paid way more in Social Security checks and Medicare benefits than you will ever pay into them. Where do you think that extra money comes from that you didn't contribute? The government. Yes, others are paying into those programs at the same time, but that only makes up for part of it. Those programs are funded by trust funds, payroll taxes, and other tax revenue that the government collects. Paying into it while you work entitles you to be part of it later. But if people got back only the amount of money they ever paid into these programs, nothing more, they'd all be in big trouble.

  14. Why does everyone keep saying Mary? I get it’s Grandma Duggars name, but they have Meredith whom they call Meri. That would be weird even by Duggar standards. At least some of the Joe’s/Jo’s go by Siah and Hanni. You can’t have Meri and Mary.

    1. Hope that you're being sarcastic. That's such a sad statement. This children should all be encouraged to get a higher education and to break this cycle. There's nothing wrong with marriage and children, but when there's so much more out there in the world let them experience life and being wrong first.

      Delete
    2. Unfortunately, that's the cycle that happens so often with these families. The girls are pregnant at the same time their mothers are, and nobody encourages them to do it differently.

      Delete
    3. Gosh let’s hope not. I personally would like to see a break in all these pregnancies with the young women. Maybe Mackenzie will break with this tradition & travel or go to college before she marries & has children, but regardless, just let her be a little girl until then. I know their belief system states to have as many children as god wants but I’m sure not all these girls will all want to go on getting married at 18-19 & having a baby every year. It’s like saying 5 generations of my male family line have all been in the military but my son didn’t want that path. I hope these girls are allowed to grow up & do whatever they want to do & we don’t see all the next generation popping out babies one after the other, it’s starting to wear a bit thin now that it’s all that this show is starting to be about. I keep watching as I’m forever hopeful every season that we will see other interesting things about this family but its becoming all about continual short courtships followed by weddings a few months down the line & a pregnancy announcement another few months in . . . There are so many Duggar children too that this could just go on & on & if it’s all TLC are going to show I think the programme will come to a stop sooner than you think as not everyone wants to watch the same thing series after series. It also starts to make me wonder are some of these courtships deliberately encouraged for the cameras & to keep the show going. It amazes me that these young people all fall in love after just talking to one another for a few short months, it’s no time to get to know each other. It’s possible it can happen once or twice, but it’s been the same with every single courtship, apart from the one Josiah had with Marjorie Jackson that didn’t work out. I for one am desperate to see more to their lives.

Duggar have sll kids names staring from J, but all have distinctive names. Joy-Anna might sound similar with Johannah, but they call them Joy and Johannah/Hannie. You can't make out much from Mary.

    1. While Madison is a lovely name, wouldn't it be kind of strange?

    1. They've already started with M names can't see them changing now.

    2. What if this ends up being their last baby? Then she would be the only one without an M name.

    3. They already have 5 Ms. They call them "our 5 Ms". They won't change the letter.

    4. Josh & Anna don't have M names. Maybe they should change to Mosh & Manna so they don't feel left out?

  62. Going to be the one dissenting vote likely, but not a fan of the name all the children with the same letter trend. Moms and dads think it's a bonding thing, family identity thing, etc. Most of the children I've known have found it to be more like "I'm part of a matched set-I can't really be my own person" kind of a thing. It may have been cute while they were younger and garnered the family attention (especially the mom and dad), but as the children grew into adulthood they felt like it prevented them from being seen as an individual, with their own distinct likes and dislikes, their own goals/dreams/plans...they were forever going to be perceived by others as just one of many.

    1. I think it makes it harder for the parent to yell out a name in a moment of frenzy. "Ma - Mi - Mo - Oh, whoever you are! Come here!" You know how it is when there are lots of kids and a parent stumbles on that.

    2. Anonymous @9:26- LOL! In our house we call that "roll call". My brother and his wife have six nephews and I hate when relatives refer to them collectively as "the boys". I doubt our nephews appreciate it either. Children and young adults deserve respect to; treating them like they're parts of a whole and trying to shape/mold them in the image of their older siblings is just wrong and pretty harmful to their self-esteem. They end up more like copies (in mannerisms, speech patterns, hobbies, likes/dislikes, clothing choices, life choices, partner choices, etc.), reflecting their siblings, instead of reflecting God's creativity in making them unique.

  63. I like the name Mary-Grace, as a sweet tribute to Grandma and the grace of God.

    1. You don't name your baby after the grace og God.

    2. One of my good friends named their baby Grace, as she came after a miscarriage...everyone who knew her found it quite appropriate as she genuinely loves the Lord and was deeply grateful.

  64. I hope they will coordinate between 4 girls in case they all have bay girls. They would not want to have 4 cousin girls born in the same month and be named by the same name.

  65. I'm so looking forward to finding what other girls are having, girls or boys, and then how they would name their kids. Maybe they will agree to give their babies middle names Mary, if it's girls.

  66. So that’s 3 girls, 3 boys and 1 child molester. Awesome!

  67. I'm excited for their sixth child! I feel so happy that it's going to be a girl! Plus, I have some baby name suggestions for them (Just to keep the M trend going anyway that is!)

    Mitzy Elizabeth
    Maisy Zoey
Marissa Rosemary & Maizy Zynnya just to name a few!:)
