Seewald Family Photo

How adorable is this photo of Jessa (Duggar) Seewald, Ben Seewald, and Baby Seewald? The newest addition to the Seewald and Duggar families was born on Thursday night, weighing 9 lbs 11 oz and measuring 21 1/4 inches long. The proud parents still have yet to announce the name they have chosen for their son, but rest assured we will post it to our blog as soon as they reveal it. More photos are available on the Seewalds' website.

  2. Why is the background behind them all white? It looks like a picture screen or magazine green screen. It is wavy and doesn't look like a normal wall.

    1. They are hiding the fact that they are in a hospital. Mom was rushed to the hospital with extensive vaginal bleeding as they attempted a home birth.

    2. It's a sheet in the hospital ♡

    3. There was a lovely picture of them in hospital, but the picture showed a small piece of Jessa's arm so it wasn't modest enough and was replaced by the white sheet picture.

  20. Who still needs to know that Jessa was a Duggar? I think you'd have to be bunkered underground to not know that. So Jessa Seewald is probably sufficient. Just my honest opinion, don't post it if you feel it's derogatory. Also, I'm a little weary of the drawn out secrecy of their sons name & who's pregnant & what are they having. He's adorable. They look like a happy family but enough with the reveal games.

  21. Why did they put that sheet there
Do they not want us to see that she's at the hospital?

    1. I was wondering the same thing ... I read that she had to be taken to a hospital after giving birth because she was bleeding a lot ... Hope she is better now :/

      Delete
    2. Well, she didn't want to give birth in a hospital or go to the hospital. Maybe they just didn't want their first family photo to show that they were there. They might not want to look back and remember the bad about it.

      Delete
    3. Good question. I was wondering what kind of birth they chose too... but Jessa and Ben are more private about things than Jill, so maybe they'll never tell. It's their business... but I AM interested.

      Delete
    4. Additional pictures that are posted on the Seewalds' website seem to indicate that it was a home birth. Wherever he was welcomed into this beautiful world, he is a blessed addition to this wonderful family. May God bless you, your sister in Christ, Kristin. ✞

    5. The most important thing here is that they have a healthy baby, not whether it was a home or a hospital birth.

      Delete
    6. OF COURSE that's the most important thing, but that doesn't make me less interested to know how the birth went.

      Delete
  22. That is probably just a partition wall. You are looking too much into this photo. It is just a photo of a new family in a hospital

  29. From what I can see on the Seewalds' Website, it was a home birth and everyone looks happy! I could be mistaken but - Maybe they just wanted a backdrop for their first family portrait. I'm sure this is just one of many. It's so fun to see were the Duggar/Dillard/Seewald grandchildren get their looks from. They all have their unique traits. Congratulations Ben and Jessa!

    ReplyDelete
  30. It is a homemade backdrop.

  31. Why do you still have a question mark where the baby photo should be?

  32. Congratulations Ben and Jessa, on the birth of your beautiful bouncing baby boy.
Thank the Lord for a safe delivery and for a speedy recovery for mum.
Children are a blessing from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is his reward. May
this baby be more than a blessing to his family and to all this his life touches, now
    and in the future.
May Father, The Most High God, our wonderful creator be with you, guide, bless, keep and protect you and all of your family.
Lots of love and best wishes from across the pond.

  33. The baby was born at home but jessa may have had to go to the hospital afterwards. 9lbs 11oz is huge for a first time baby. I wish ladies wouldn't have first babies at home. You don't really know how your body is going to handle labor and delivery. I just think it's a risk to mom and baby that doesn't have to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Now you need to update the thing again! I think israel and meredith need new pictures up there too. Please tell us when you find out the new babys name!!!

  35. Jessa looks very tired but I love the picture. So cute. I can't believe how much hair the baby has!! Can't wait to hear his beautiful name.

    3. Where did you read that

  37. I wonder if they thought the baby was going to be a girl so they didn't have a boy's name chosen and that's why they're taking so long to release it. That's the only logical explanation I can think of!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think they just want some privacy. They want their son and his name to be just theirs for a little while before everyone has to know.

  38. So glad you and your baby are fine. You look so frail. Please look at this experience and realize...no more home birth attempts. Your life and that of your baby's is not worth giving birth at home for a sense of pride.

    1. In the UK the benefits of home births and midwife led care are well documented, it is more relaxing for the mother etc. It should surely be about providing expectant mothers with a choice of birthing options most comfortable to them and safe for the baby. Home births are not considered a dangerous option, which is what I infer from the post above.

      Delete
    2. She does not look "frail". She just finished labor and giving birth, which is basically equivalent to running back to back marathons, and is extremely tired. This would be the case no matter where she delivered. I posted this before.....we should not start the home birth vs hospital birth debate again. This is Jessa and Ben's decision ONLY.

      Delete
    3. I wish everyone would leave the decision making choices of the Duggar birthing options to them and stay out of it.I for one am getting so tired of all the opinions... Why do people feel it's their place to always nitpic, can't y'all just be happy for them and just let them be.There is a beautiful life to be celebrated and the way he got here doesnt matter...what does matter is that he and his lovely mother are safe, happy and healthy☺CONGRADULATIONS SEEWALDS!

  39. @AnonymousWhat a beautiful first family photograph. Despite all she has been through physically, Jessa still looks beautiful! The baby is so cute, he looks like his grandpa! Whoever took this photograph did a great job! The sheet backdrop and their gray clothing puts the focus on this beautiful young family without the distractions of the hospital environment.

  40. They put it there because she had a home birth so they probably wanted the background to be solid like it is and look more professional than a background of your bedroom or something else. Congrats superrrr excited for you both your going to making amazing parents!!! (:

  47. Such a sweet photo. Jessa looks exhausted but happy new mommy! Congrats to the family.
Now please enough with the suspense, what is the baby's name?? :)

  48. Hey rachel. Johnson Jessa duggar how is baby

  49. Thankfully Mom and baby are doing well.
In response to UK poster in UK the standards are very high for midwives and home births.
There is no US comparison unless it is a RN midwife. The lay midwifes are not nursing trained. There are many complications that can arise in seconds. In this case the main thing is both baby and mom will be ok.

    ReplyDelete
  50. People keep saying why have a home birth ans how dangerous it is, etc. Well, I have a friend in the Netherlands and the only time insurance will pay for a hospital birth is if there is a medical emergency. Otherwise, you have to pay. So majority of babies are born at home. Now, if a mother has excessive tearing, they can transport to hospital and insurance pays. Otherwise, no. In the case of my friend, she had to go to the hospital for bleeding following her second child's birth. Her third gave her no issues.

As Americans we've become so spoiled. Why have unnecessary bills? There's a difference between hospital follow up for tearing and outrageous bills for healthy delivery. Their next birth could be easy as anything in the comfort of their own home. Who knows.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think ot was very selfish to risk the baby's well being by attempting a home birth.....why not go to a birthing clinic with the assistance of a midwife?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Lovely new family!

  57. Adorable family photo of the Seewald's. Looking forward to hearing the baby's name.

    ReplyDelete
  58. The above photo is obviously photoshopped. I don't think any of them were together for that picture. I am pretty sure that three separate images were pasted together as one. The image of the baby looks like it was taken from the one were JB and M are holding him while the lighting on Jessa's and Ben's faces are completely different showing they are not together for that picture. This was released when all the chatter about the 911 call came out and I think it was an attempt to cover up the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  59. No they aren't trying to alienate their fans, just trying to tease them so that we will follow them ,out of suspense. I think they are waiting for the tv special for the reveal, so everyone will be sure to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Such a darling baby! So happy everyone is doing well. The family does NOT owe the public any information beyond that which they wish to give. However, they appear to want publicity on their own terms which seem financially driven. And that's fine, but they should be up front and honest that this is their family's way of making a living.

    ReplyDelete
  61. This is NOT a family that wants privacy. If you wanted privacy, you would not be posting pics of every phase of pregnancy and a video of the baby moving in utero. Don't get me wrong, all of these are truly awe inspiring, but MOST families either don't post them or post them to their closest family and friends. I agree that the first few days of a baby's life should focus on family bonding, not having a People photo shoot team invade your privacy.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I can wait for the name because i respect that they are just regular people. Also, Do not believe or read anything in these anti-Christian websites or magazines. They had absolutely t the delivery trauma when she was still pregnant. I love that picture of Jessa holding the magazine with the delivery headline while her belly was big!! If something is not on here or the Seewald family site, and you click it, you are encouraging them to make up info for your attention.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Maybe they changed their minds. My SIL took the full 3 weeks allowed to name one of hers. She is in Canada and have 21 days to name a child. Another one took 10. My #4 kid didn't have a name for 2 days and my husband's youngest sister was a week before they settled on a name and she never got a middle name.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Actually, several recent large studies have shown that home births are 2 to 3 times more dangerous for the child than hospital births.

    ReplyDelete
  65. So, why are Ben and Jessa waiting to share his name? Can't think of the right one? Or are they trying to be mysterious? Either way; it seems rediculius.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Are 'mom & baby' REALLY both doing well?

    ReplyDelete
  67. I think delaying the baby name announcement only alienates fans -- at least it has for me.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Guys, both Jessa and Jill could have died while having their beautiful baby boys. Luckily, they didn't, but it's still scary to hear about.
Jill had a 70 HOUR LABOR and then a C-section!!
Jessa had a alright home birth labor, but she lost a lot of blood and Michelle had to call 911 for a ambulance. Pray for these two wonderful ladies and pray that they don't have anymore scary childbirth experiences.

  69. This is getting ridiculous... What is going on?!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Congratulations! So happy for them, but wish they would release more details as the lack of information and scary tabloid articles have me worried about Jessa! Also, why the delay on the name release? Is it for money? I hope not!

  73. When will they announce the name?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Why all the secrecy and dramatics around the name reveal. It's just bizarre.

    ReplyDelete
  75. With everything that's been said I don't know what's the truth I just want to know that she's OK If that's all you people let us know please do that just even thatThis is just really strange how this is all planned outI hope to god she's OK

    ReplyDelete
  76. Oh Jessa he is so beautiful. You look greatmy 3rd sister weighed exactly that much.
God bless you and Ben you're both going to great parents. Wait what's his name ? :):):)

    ReplyDelete
  77. Jessa looks almost uncomfortable, is she sitting on a bed? And why the white sheet was put behind them? Was it taken at a hospital? I just don[t get it why it had to be a home birth while she had a huge belly and it was obvious that the baby will be big, and she is quite small herself... Why put yourself in danger? Same about Jill.

    ReplyDelete
  78. This nonsense with the name and the $$$$ involved has made our family decision- we are finished with the Duggar's and Seewalds.

    ReplyDelete
  79. @AnonymousAn abbreviation of the word congratulations.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I have watched the show for the very beginning. I am very worried about Jessa's health. Also, this is ridiculous waiting for a name!

    ReplyDelete
  81. They didn't want their first kiss to be in public either. Not trying to be rude, but people are entitled to privacy. Being a public person doesn't mean everything has to be public all the time. Just knowing the baby is here and okay is sufficient for me here and now, but that's me.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Is Jessa okay? Is she still in the hospital?
