  2. Thank goodness Jinger is having a little girl. They need more girls in that family and Jinger & Jeremy will make great parents to a little girl....now pick a name that isn't weird.

    1. What you think is a weird name someone else could love Jean, how would you feel if someone bashed your name?

      Delete
    2. I agree 100%!!!

    3. I bet it she will have a cute name!

    4. I think that they would make great parents to a little boy as well...

    5. There are some beautiful italian girls names they could pick from and would go so well with their surname.

    6. Spurgeon is pretty weird. While I think parents should be able to call their children what they want they really need to consider how the child will feel about it in years to come (if it is very unusual) and how it can be shortened, Spurgey doesn't sound good under any circumstances even though he is very cute!

    7. Jean isn’t a weird name. I know many people with that name as their first or middle name.

    8. Right?? Isabelle is pretty, or Gabrielle.

  3. Yay!!!! So cool. Boys are wonderful - but it will be great to see another granddaughter join the family.
    Congratulations!!!

    1. Why do you think they would give their child a "weird" name? None of the other Duggars have done that with their children.

      Delete
    2. Jessa did. Both Spurgeon and Henry are weird names.

      Delete
    3. I think Spurgeon is a weird name regardless if was the LAST name of a minister or author. Sorry !!

      Delete
    4. Spurgeon is a pretty out there name!

      Delete
    5. 4:28- The favorability factor of any given name is strictly a matter of opinion.

      Delete
    6. The names Spurgeon and Wilberforce are not exactly on the top 100 of most popular baby names.

      Delete
    7. Jessa and Jill gave their first weird names.

      Delete
    8. How is Henry a weird name?

      Delete
    9. Henry is not a weird name! Spurgeon, on the other hand, is quite...different.

      Delete
    10. Henry is not at all odd--very royal. Spurgeon is different--named after Charles Spurgeon, an amazing evangelist, so I get why, but wish they'd used Charles LOL

    1. 3:23- Do you know the complete ancestry of each of them? Unless you do, it's quite a stretch to make any predictions of what their baby will look like.

      Delete
    2. She will be beautiful!

      Delete
    3. 12:37 - It's not a total stretch. Jinger and Jeremy both have some darker traits - hair, skin, eyes - which are dominant. They could be carrying some lighter recessive genes, but the likeliness that those would pair up in an offspring is lesser than the likeliness their child would inherit those dominant traits as well. It isn't off base to assume that a child will look something like its parents.

    4. And if she's a blonde, will there be talk?? I have dark-haired family members and I am naturally blonde. There's no explaining to do. I got some grandparent's coloring from way back on the family tree.

      Delete
    5. I was born with dark brown hair that turned blonde by itself when I became a teenager. Figure that one out!

      Delete
    6. My sister is the opposite of 4:29. She was born blond but darkened as she grew up. You never can tell what your genes will make happen.

  10. "Gender" does not rhyme with Jinger, Jinger.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Did I miss something? Nowhere does it say she thinks gender rhymes with her name..

      Delete
    2. It almost does, when you take into account their accent. They say "Ginder".

      Delete
    3. Lol it still doesn't rhyme 12:12

      Delete
    4. Haha! After close to 40 years of living in this country (having emigrated from a British Commonwealth country) I finally figured out that it is not so much an accent ("Ginder"), as the long pronunciation of the vowels. In other words, the "e" is always pronounced as in the word "peel", even if the word requires a short "e", as in "egg"; therefore, "egg" would be pronounced "igg", or more likely "aig". Likewise, "pizza" in the South, would be pronounced "pie-zza" (as in a piece of pie). I lived in Oklahoma for several years, and used to think this was just the accent; then after helping teach a phonics course one summer, it dawned on me that it was a mispronunciation of the vowels instead! Interesting topic, the origin of accents!

      Delete
    5. I was born and raised in the South and I have never heard pizza prounounced pie-zza.

      Delete
    6. 12:31, my mistake. You are right. After reading your comment, I thought about the fact that I was basing my interpretation on the way I would say "pie", and not how a Southerner would say it. I still think, though, that it has something to do with the vowel pronunciations. There may also be a Spanish influence, with the Southern states being closer to the Spanish-speaking countries, if you think about how the "e" is pronounced in Spanish. Maybe not. Just my musings..... not a professional linguist by any stretch!

  18. HOW EXCITING!!!! Made my day, so happy for everyone!

That baby girl will be dressed so cute with her Mother's flair for fashion! I so love little guys, but nothing like a baby girl in a dress with bows in her hair and different hairstyles all the time!

Jeremy is going to melt my heart the way he interacts with a baby version of beautiful Jinjer! Congratulations to this Godly couple and all the people who get to love this sweet new baby girl!

Can't wait to see Joe and Kendras little guy and see more Gideon! Such exciting times! My face hurts from my huge smile, ahhh! Thank you for sharing this wonderful surprise with us!=)

    1. Why should beauty and fashion should be the focal points for this child? There are more important things to parenting than how you dress and style a child's hair. It's a human being, not a doll. My wish for Jinger and Jeremy is that they raise a strong girl who can make her own decisions about everything.

      Delete
    2. Ha - it will be interesting to see if the baby's allowed to wear shorts and pants, or if she's in leggings under dresses until she's married. Josh's girls are.

      Delete
    3. Not too strong! Don't want to raise your daughter to be a feminazi...got enough of those in the world and they are the most unhappy 'women'

      Delete
    4. Love baby girl dresses!!

      Delete
    5. Oh, my goodness. If my strong girl made her own decisions about everything, she'd be eating jelly beans for breakfast and screaming at people when she didn't like what they were doing.

      Delete
    6. I think society has finally moved on from huge Gerber Daisy flowers in their babies hair, yasssss!. I tried that with my first daughter 8 years ago and it felt so unnatural. I felt like a pitiful trend follower. So I didn’t do it again. I like my girls with nothing in their hair, not even headbands. I can see their beautiful face and not be distracted.

      Delete
    7. Feminazi is a made-up word by people seeking to diminish women's rights. Nazis killed the Jewish and others in WWII. Feminists believe in the social and political equality of the sexes. And as a proud feminist myself, let me assure you, when I wake every day not dependent on a daddy or husband to give me a home, food, vehicle, clothing, or savings, I am anything but "unhappy." Best of luck to you.

      Delete
    8. 5:16 -- I totally agree. It was so much fun to dress my little girl up like a living doll. Now she's a teenager, and I miss those days.

      Delete
    9. 1:24 I'm fairly certain the comment was referring to a girl growing up to be a strong woman, capable of making her own decisions and not relying on a man to support her- not a child demanding jelly beans for breakfast.

      Delete
    10. 1:11- Feminazi? Somehow, I don't think encouraging daughters to grow up to be self-sufficient and able to think for themselves is such a radical idea, or something that leads to a life of unhappiness.

  31. What a nice surprise! But why do they keep to use the term "gender"? I thought they do not believe in the concept of "genders" at all? If so they should just use the right term which is "sex".

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They do believe in genders, just that there are only two (spoiler alert, they’re right)

    2. Hi anonymous 1:52, isn't it wonderful that in the world there are millions of different people with billions of differing opinions? We are fortunate enough to be able to get to know different people every day if we take the time and make effort. Just wanted to reply because I don't agree but I'd love to hear more about your opinion any way! What do you think of people that are born intersex with BOTH genders? God did not make a mistake with them so that's why I disagree about there only being 2 genders. Have a great day and feel free to write me back :)

  35. Jill and Jessa must be so envious of Jinger being married to an actual pastor instead of a pretend one.

    3. Isn't Derrick supposed to be a pastor or a "MIT" (missionary in training"?

      Delete
    4. True. Especially since he's able to buy her a big beautiful home. Definitely works out to marry an older guy who has it together.

      Delete
    5. I'm not sure Jeremy bought Jinger their home. Hopefully she was able to keep at least some of the money from the book she wrote with her sisters, and it's possible they negotiated their own agreement with TLC and/or on the many magazine features. Those earnings would be all thanks to Jinger.

      Delete
    6. What are Jeremy's qualifications and training? I don't recall ever hearing them divulged here.

      Delete
    7. His daddy was a pastor, and he reads a lot of books.

    10. Marrying an older established guy worked for Jinger. That doesn't mean that's the only model of marriage that works. Marrying young and "growing up together" does work for many couples too. (I know statistically it's less likely to work out, but that's not the same as "all doomed to end in divorce or miserable".)

  36. So happy for them, a precious little girl, she will be the most loved baby, with two of the best parents. Jinger looks so amazing, the picture of health, god bless her and Jermey.

  44. My, my, my, everyone sure does worry about the Duggar money!!! Leave it alone!!

    1. Did you give Derick money? Wouldn't you wonder how your donation was used, if you intended it to be for those less fortunate in other countries or for a mission? It's kind of like that. This money was from viewers who back the show that pays the money.

      Delete
    2. A big difference between directly handing money to someone (or the online equivalent) and watching a TV show. The money the show makes, pays not only the Duggars but a lot of people who work for TLC. So if one of them held an "extravagant" baby shower then they're fair game too for judgement as well?

What about other Reality TV shows, or even non-reality TV shows or movies? Do you make a habit of wondering how all the people who make a living out of the media industry spend their earnings?

Also, the show is NOT the only source of income for the Duggars or Vuolos.

  45. We "wear" our names forever - for the most part.
We girls get to change our last names, but rarely do we change our first names. . . . then there is that whole "nickname" thing, which I do not like.
They will give their precious girl a lovely name, I doubt it will be a "J" name in this case, butyou never know if they have a son - men like to name their sons after them. IMO

  46. Yes! So nice they are having a girl blessing and sweet for the family... had such a boy boom.
