New parents Jessa and Ben Seewald will appear on this week's cover of PEOPLE Magazine, available on newsstands Friday.

The Seewalds still have yet to decide what they will call their little boy, telling the news outlet that they want to choose a name with meaning that will suit their son for the rest of his life.

The article includes exclusive photos of the family of three, as well as the details of Jessa's long labor that made her come close to requesting a transfer to the hospital and an epidural.

But the first-time mom powered through and successfully delivered Baby Seewald at home just before 7:00pm on Thursday. Jessa and Ben were the only ones who knew that their child was a boy, so you can imagine the excitement from both the Duggar and Seewald families when they found out the gender of the newest addition.

Immediately following the birth, the midwife became concerned about the amount of blood Jessa was losing, so Michelle called 911, and the new mom was taken to the emergency room for a blood transfusion. She had to leave her son for a short time, but Baby Seewald was soon brought to the hospital to join his mother.

Mom and baby are healthy, and the Seewalds are settling into life with a newborn. For more info, check out this week's issue of PEOPLE.

  1. Thank you so much for this update! Will you please post what's written in the PEOPLE article so we don't all have to buy the magazine to learn more? Thank you. :)

  2. Glad to know more of what happened. It's neat how nobody but Jessa and Ben knew about it being a boy.

  3. Happy for the Seawald family. Thankful Jessa and baby are healthy and well.
However, I am sure many of those that appreciate the faith of this family - would not be interested in reading People magazine. I find it sad that they release their important personal life moments in a way that seems motivated by money - and use outlets that many of those interested in their life - would not even purchase. We are "in" the world, but are not to be "of" the world.

  10. Does anyone else wonder why any of the Duggar's are openly associating with People Magazine? People threw them under the bus the first chance they could, yet they still associate with them? I wish they would stand up to this and NOT associate with the ungodly media! I get professing their faith, yet this points more to money and attention in my eyes then faith. Would love to hear other thoughts.

  13. It's disturbing that they have chosen People magazine through which to tell their story. Why not a Christian publication? People magazine is a trashy magazine. Would their family or the Duggars buy a People magazine? I would have doubted it but now makes me wonder.

  14. Naming a firstborn son is serious to alot of people. I know it was for us...my husband is a sole surviving heir- 4th generation. So we obviously had to ponder wether or not to make him a junior..but my husband wasn't a junior. We decided against that, but still wanted to give him a family name.. but my older brother had already claimed my Dad's name for his firstborn. We lucked out with "Markus" because my Dad's middle name is Mark and my husband's grandfather was Marcus. We swapped the C for a K, in order to honor both, and gave him my husband's first name as his middle. Jessa and Ben have so many family members. I'm sure they want to give their son a special name, without any repeats...and without slighting anyone. I kinda think they should just stick with Quincy.

  16. How about Jack Thomas for your baby's name. I think Jack is a strong name for a man.

    Miss your show,

  20. Awww, it was too bad she was talked out of transferring to the hospital during her labor. She could have avoided that whole scary ordeal and spent the whole time with her new baby. Instead she was separated from her baby for that very special first night together. Glad they are both doing well now, he's adorable! (the name- not so much)
