Statement from Josh Duggar

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.
Psalm 118:8

It grieves us to share the following statements from the Duggar family:

Statement from Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar:
Please see the statement below from our son Josh regarding recent media stories about him. When we learned of this late last night our hearts were broken. As we continue to place our trust in God we ask for your prayers for Josh, Anna, our grandchildren and our entire family.

Statement from Josh Duggar:
I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have been unfaithful to my wife.

I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him.

I have brought hurt and a reproach to my family, close friends and the fans of our show with my actions.

The last few years, while publicly stating I was fighting against immorality in our country I was hiding my own personal failures.

As I am learning the hard way, we have the freedom to choose our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences. I deeply regret all the hurt I have caused so many by being such a bad example.

I humbly ask for your forgiveness. Please pray for my precious wife Anna and our family during this time.

Josh Duggar

  1. Sending prayers for your entire family NONE of us are perfect we ALL sin but our god is an awsome god full of forgiveness. What sadden me is that the media is on a witch hunt and they have targeted your family because of your belief in god. Just know that you do have lots of support i love your family and what you stand for . Praying that god gives you all the strength you need during this time. Trish

  2. It's wrong but not unforgivable. Nobody is beyond redemption. Trust in the Lord for you not because your family does and how u were brought up. I've been there. My prayers to the Duggars. No one is perfect hence the reason why Jesus died on the cross.

  6. Josh you will make it through this only if you completely surrender to Jesus. Strongholds are impossible to break without Jesus intervention. Praying for you and all those effected by this.

  8. Its nice to hear directly from Josh admitting his sins. I pray for Anna. May God help her to deal with this bomb she has been handed.

  9. When Josh's problems he had as a teenager came out, I thought he was probably hiding other things. Sometimes, it's very sad to be wrong. I just hope Anna is smart enough to get herself and the kids out safely while she still can.

  10. I was so hoping this was not true....my heart is broken for you all. I will pray for your family & for the Lords forgiveness for Josh along with Strength for Anna

  11. Of course I will pray for Anna and the entire family. I am angry with Josh. Very angry. This just goes to show how satan comes in and latches onto a soul and keeps tempting them till all is distroyed for them. I am so very sorry this is happening to Anna and his family. I am glad that the Lord has brought this sin out into the light of day. Now, maybe Josh has a chance to find true forgiveness from the Lord, himself , his spouse and extended family members. God bless that entire family

  12. We were so close of getting a spinoff show of Jessa And Jill, things were finally looking up, now all is lost forever, no more ever again, Josh hit the nail in the coffin.Im so upset and selfishly so, I wanted my family back. Its like a death all over again. Why should the rest of this family have to suffer yet again.I literally feel sick , my stomach hurts and tears yet again.I cant even imagine the media storm that is coming their way, they say the second wave is usually bigger than the first.I will however pray for Anna and her family and the Duggar siblings...as they are innocent in all this mess.

  13. I'm sorry, but after hearing this news about Josh, I think TLC made the right decision to cancel 19 Kids and Counting.

  14. Life is short. Too short to not love the Lord and your wife and kids. If they forgive you, accept it, but keep that pain you feel next to you the rest of your life so that you never forget how it feels, and let it remind you daily of the trade you made.

  15. Oh dear family, you are missed and have been prayed for. May God heal Josh and Anna and their family through His dear Christ. This has been for these young people the most difficult for all are looking on. Jesus said to the crowd..."let him who has no sin cast the first stone".

  17. Really sad that he didn't repent of all of this when the molestation scandal came out. Instead he continued to hide his sexual sins from his family. That was his chance to come clean to his family (not the public) and ask for accountability and help. Instead he thought he could hide it and continue on. How truly sad for his wife and children. He needs serious help before he completely self restricts and takes his family down with him. I don't have much sympathy for Josh but have to a for his wife and kids and extended family. We all want our children to grow up and be great adults and he, well...just isn't.

  18. I have been asking for God to help you and your family. I do not know the details, nor do I wish to know them. God is our judge, not me.

  19. I, as a Christian, am commanded not to judge you or the Duggar family for anything that you have done or may do. While this is a heartbreaking blow to your family, it is understandable that we are sinners and are not perfect. My prayer is for you and your family to know peace during these turbulent times and as God to heal your family. You can recover from this. I believe that you have a strong foundation and this can b repaired. Much love to you all Duggars.

  20. Jim Bob and Michelle- it's unfortunate that the affairs of your family are put on "BLAST", for all the world to gossip about. It's the people with insecurities in their own lives, that feel the need to persecute the wrongdoings of others. That, and, they have nothing better to do than throw stones upon others. This note is actually for your whole family, and I could care less about the backlash my comments receive. I am a Mother myself, and a Single one at that. We love our children unconditionally. Everybody makes mistakes...PERIOD. This does not excuse the wrongdoings of our children, but it is their safety net throughout life, knowing that NOTHING they do will lessen the love we have for them. Josh made mistakes, and I am by no means minimizing them, nor sweeping them under the carpet. But Josh is not my son, therefore, I have no right to judge him based on his past mistakes/failures. What I want to say is, regardless of whether he is a child or Adult, he needs your support. Every child makes mistakes. Not every parent has to ensure their personal laundry being aired throughout the nation. If I were in Arkansas, I'd love to stand outside your home with a microphone and say all the things I'm sure your folks have been so gracious to refrain from saying to all the media mongers. I would take pleasure in challenging each and every one of them to respect your privacy and focus their energy on publicizing positive news and not "a piece of gossip to fuel their fire". All your children are good people, and don't deserve to be judged by people who have no clue about who they really are. I say, start slinging the mud back, bc you've been gracious long enough. TLC made their decision, you folks have alot of supporters. Stand behind your family 100% and fight back. Josh is human, and the scrutiny he is receiving is absolutely ridiculous. I'd love to tell them all where to go!

  23. Josh may have done wrong by wife but his parents are still to blame for his upbringing in such a cult of a life...Mom and Dad were so into their selves about seeing how may children they could have and Jim Bob needs some counseling in my opinion...

  24. Josh, I sincerely hope you get the help you need, I was shocked when I learned you have been on the cheaters site, you are a Father of four beautiful babies and you have a wonderful faithful wife...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anna needs our prayers now more than ever, y'all. As a woman whose husband was unfaithful, I know it can be easy to blame yourself for your husband's transgressions. Anna, sweetie, it is NOT your fault. You are beautiful. You are loving. You are a wonderful child of God. Josh's sins are not a result of anything you did or did not do.

  26. Dear Josh! None of us are perfect and it is only through God's grace and mercy that we are saved through faith and have His forgiveness. Praying that God will bring healing to you and your family! God be with you all at this time.

  27. Don't worry about the haters, you still have plenty of supporters. Only Jesus Christ himself was perfect. How we deal with mistakes we have made that go public shows our true character, and your is still in tact. Smile because God still loves you.

  28. I love the Dugger family. I pray for them every day. If Josh actually did this, then it is time to get him professional help. A minister may help some and is important to help give comfort and spiritual support but I mean someone who is trained to deal with mental illness and sexual addiction. I think it's time. I'll continue to pray for Anna, the children, Josh and all of you.

  29. You are all in our prayers. Our family is encouraged by your readiness to lean on the Lord for guidance and forgiveness. 31. Before any of you pass Judgement. Please realise that he is NOT alone in his battle. This problem is an epidemic amongst fellow Christians. Even Pastors and Elders have been known to confess to the same struggle. This does not, however make it right or okay. Josh is responsible for his own sin and choices. NOT Anna, NOT his parents. The battle to overcome this type of sin is only won when the person is treated with love, support, patience, understanding and healthy boundaries and accountability is put in place. To react with anger, accusation, etc may only fuel the issue. This type of issue will take YEARS to see some headway in healing. Throw MORE support on the Duggar's, not less. And look to Jesus for your source of joy He will NEVER let you down. But man will. You Have my back Josh and Anna.#TeamDuggar

  34. This is so sad. And disheartening. And incredibly difficult. Praying for everybody, but I honestly hope Josh gets *real* counseling this time. God has given us intelligence in many areas. Just as it would be irresponsible to have a serious illness and just pray about it without seeking medical help, it is irresponsible to have a psychological/behavioral disorder and not seek professional help.

  35. i am so sorry for what is going on in your family...many families are going through very hard things like you and God is trying to get all of us "Spotless" He is coming back for His spotless Bride...we are all having to get out houses in order. we are praying with you and you are still an inspiration to many.

  37. Josh please don't allow the enemy to do what he dose best still, kill, and destroy for this to will pass, put on the full armor of God and stand deflect the fiery darts of the wicked one, no one is prefect no not one of us. now is the time for you to repent, fast and pray nothing is to hard for our God keep your eye's on him and his words in your mouth daily I you remember how you got to this point a look to the hills from which your help comes from be ye not transformed to this word I love and miss the Duggar family.. God be with you.

  38. I guess this shows them to be human like the rest of us, with human failings. They have never professed otherwise. My heart truly goes out to the whole family but especially to Anna. They need support and I'm sure they'll find it during this difficult time. Perhaps one day they will be able to share how they were able to cope because they are, by no means, the only family who has had to deal with this type of problem.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I am honestly having a hard time processing this. I'm truly saddened to hear this and I will be spending a great deal of time praying to the good Lord!

  40. My statement is for Anna, I know the pain your going through. Feeling like your not good enough, not sexy enough. I went through the same emotions when I learned my husband was unfaithful. But as a Christian we struggle with our own worth because someone who says loves us chooses to find pleasure with someone else. Keep in mind that Jesus forgave us, and we have to decide if we can forgive them. In my case I chose to forgive. Our greatest power as a Christian is forgiveness. My prayer for you is that the Comforter ( the spirit of our Lord ) will give you peace in this hard time. Your heart feels broken but our Almighty Lord will heal your broken heart. And I want you to know I love you and your precious kids. I wish I could take you in my arms and let you know there are people who care. Not the media that chooses to destroy people for money. Sexual immorality is so strong in our nation, People use it for money and doesn't care who it hurts. My sweet Anna you will get through this; just your eyes on the Lord.

Love never fails!!! thanks

A family that is like the rest of us, sinners that try to do the right thing for others' to see, its just millions are watching yall, and I feel so bad for you, cause a Mom and Dad can pray, and do all they know to do, but kids grow up and are out in the world. Josh CAN overcome this sin, He must give it all to God, 100%. Its another addiction that MILLIONS in this world fight everyday. Josh has to be accountable, and YES He has hurt all of us christians but more than that, its hurt the UNCHRISTIANS of the world. God Bless this family.

  50. God wrote a statement to us all,
I am the LORD thy God
Thou shalt have no other gods
    No graven images or likenesses
Not take the LORD's name in vain
    Remember the sabbath day
Honour thy father and thy mother
    Thou shalt not kill
    Thou shalt not commit adultery
    Thou shalt not steal
Thou shalt not bear false witness
    Thou shalt not covet
John the Baptist confirmed God meant it with the message baptism of repentance
    for the forgiveness of sins.
Jesus knew nobody could keep these so he taught mercy, and repentance.....and we are
given the grace of a new covenant with God the Father through the blood of Jesus.

  52. Dear Duggar Family, I just wanted to let you know that I'm praying for you all through this time! May God strengthen you! I know you all are a true family of God and I believe He will take you through. Though in this world it maybe hard yet in Jesus we can go on and win every battle that rises against us. And soon we will be standing before our Lord Jesus and here Him say "well done though good and faithful servants". May we all just keep pressing on through mistakes and finally when we reach that other side enjoy meeting all those true believers that stood for Christ kept pressing on trusting in the blood of Christ! What a day that will be when we meet each other on that other shore! May God richly bless and strength you all!

  53. I was sort of on his side through the previous scandal but I have to say now that I believe Josh is really sick. I read his profile from that website. It was terrible, made my heart feel so dark. For his family's sake I hope that he and Anna divorce and that she takes the kids. Everyone deserves forgiveness but people also deserve healthy relationships. I would not want his influence to be had on any young children, even his own.

Please Duggar family get Josh the help he needs to save his family. My prayers are with you too Anna, stay strong during this tough time. Wish nothing but the best for you all.

  61. I was so deeply saddened to learn of this recent issue with Josh, I have signed petitions for the Duggars to come back on tv, I have prayed and posting my feelings of forgiveness and love!! Jesus died on the cross to forgive our sins because HE knew we were not and could not be perfect. This is a tough one for me, because I left my husband of 43 years because he is cheating, I staid with him for 6 six years after finding out, while he still staid at his girlfriends four nights a week, and went on 2 week vacations or 3 every year with her. Finally almost a year ago , I left him and the city to begin a new life!! I could not handle it any more!!! But Anna I pray you and Josh can work it out and seek GOD'S help and support and guidance!! I love you both and if JESUS could forgive the ones who nailed HIM to the cross, then I can find forgiveness for you Josh!!! There were other severe problems with my marriage also, long, long , long before the cheating!!! I will always love him and I just recently after a year of leaving him, starting to forgive him and his girlfriend and not longer have resentment towards them!!! I will continue to pray for both of you and your entire family!!! ALL MY LOVE AND PRAYERS GO WITH YOU!!!

  62. I was so disappointed to hear this news. I was one of the many people who defended Josh when the first story came out. However, I do not regret giving Josh the benefit of the doubt and I hope I am always a person that believes the best about people until it is proven otherwise. I will pray for this family but my #1 concern right now is for Josh's soul. You can not live a life of ongoing sin if you are a Christian.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I am a supporter of the Duggars. That said, Josh needs to be in a treatment facility and get the help he needs. He needs to be away from his children and his siblings! Anna needs to get away from him. No more media outlets no more asking for public forgiveness for being "caught"! What tremendous damage he has done to his wife and children, family and siblings, community, conservative Christians. The list goes on and on and on.

  77. Oh Josh, did you not know your sin would find you out? You must know about God's law of sewing and reaping. I know we are all sinners in some way, but I am so grieved you allowed yourself to fall into the devil's trap. Yet that being said, David was an adulterer and he was still a man after God's own heart because he repented. deeply grieved over his own sin. The death of his son, the child of his adultery, was part of his punishment. God will forgive, but he seldom removes the consequences of sin.

  99. It's just so sad. Sad that he was doing this to his wife and family. Sad for his parents and siblings. Sad he felt the need to have this double life. I just can't help but wonder if the stringent sexual rules for the family helped contribute to this, you know the forbidden fruit thing. Don't get me wrong I am all for saving sex for marriage but no kissing or even hugging? Or looking down when a woman not dressed modestly appears. I think all the avoiding makes it hard to control urges rather than learning to deal with and control them.

I will pray for Anna, the parents the children and even Josh.

  100. Hi,
Wow, I would never have expected that. Just keep in mind,Josh, that the "God will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way of escape, the ye may be able to bear it." 1 Cor 10:13
People mess up. It's sin nature. Josh messed up like so manyother human beings, but because the Lord forgave us, we need to extend that same grace to Josh and forgive him. Yes, he hurt his wife, family, and many loyal fans, but God love it when his children beg him for forgiveness so that He can show us that redeeming love.
Look, I'm pretty much 15, and if I can realize that, please, just extend a little grace and don't leave rude comments!

  101. We all have made mistakes throughout our lives, some big some small. God has a plan through all of this. Sometimes we need to be brought to our knees In order to get back on the path God has for us. We need to remember what Jesus would have done in this situation. He would have forgivin Josh. Many prays to Ana & his parents and siblings. I truly miss the show.

  102. Oh! And I forgot to mention in my previous comment.

I forgive you Josh. Cry out to Jesus, "You that are weak and heavy laden and I will give thee rest"

  103. It's not me who needs to forgive you. But I truly believe that Jesus Christ does forgive you. Most of us don't have our personal lives all over the media. I can't imagine how youfeel today. Actually in a very strange way, this makes you all more real to me. No one's life is perfect and neither are they. God will bless you again. My heart felt sympathy to Anna. May she be blessed with kindness and understanding.

  104. JOSH I pray you seek deliverance ministry to get free from this stronghold on your life, I'm sure you have tried to stop on your own. JESUS cast out unclean spirits, you can get free. It could be a generational thing from 100th of generations ago. Let it end with your repentence. ANNA, my heart it's breaking with yours. Know you are the best wife and mom, this does not reflect on you, it's Josh alone who is responsible. You will get thru this. Prayers for all of you.

  105. I'm sorry for your struggles, but humans are fallible. I hope that one day you all can find a network that isn't afraid to put the show back on the air. "Reality" includes the good and bad. 107. I will pray for your wife Anna and your children. Dealing with an unfaithful husband is the worst pain there is. God teaches forgiveness. The one you need to beg for forgiveness is your wife.

  108. I love your family, but this is a horrible thing to do to your wife! I have been cheated on by my ex and once a cheater always! I'm praying for Anna and her children.

  109. When I first heard this, I really thought that this was just another attempt my the liberal media to bash the Duggars. When I heard it was true, I honestly cried for poor Anna. She's been through so much and now this! She truly deserves better but unfortunately, she won't get it. She has four children and is stuck with Josh. My heart just goes out to her for being put in this situation. To know that your husband spent $1000 on a website to commit adultery is almost beyond comprehension. I was hoping that they'd put the Duggars back on television but I honestly can't see it happening at this point and it's just so sad for me and my family.

  110. Josh, can you see the harm you have done to: our messages to non-believers; to your family's name; to your parents and their love for you; to Anna; to your children and lastly to yourself? Our Lord forgives, but society doesn't. And this time the reactions are going to be worse than the previous 'hair on fire' reactions. Even Christians feel betrayed. I am praying for everyone concerned. My family had a similar experience as yours and it was so painful. Shirley

  113. We can only teach our children. What they do after they become adults is totally on them. I now feel that Josh is a lost cause after learning this. I feel so bad for Anna and the children. I wouldn't blame her one bit if she kicked him out or left him. Cheating is unforgivable. Once a cheater always a cheater. You can only put up with their sins so much before you have to break free to save yourself and to save your children. Adultery is a reason for divorce in the bible and he cannot ever remarry since he's the cause but she can. Just because your forgive does not mean that he will regain your trust. Trust can take years to rebuild from something like this. He doesn't deserve any trust at all. If she is going to stay married then I'd say that he needs to give up ALL electronics including his phone, all credit cards and bank accounts. Give him so much cash each time he needs to buy something. He must show ALL receipts for purchases to prove where his cash went. He cannot go any where without a family member at all ever again. This is NOT fair to Anna, her children, or the rest of their family. My prayers go out to them. I've lost ALL faith in him as a Christian or even as a decent human being. We all make mistakes but the ones that he's chosen to make as a teenager and now as an adult are the worst.

  118. I used to have respect for the Duggars, but no more; especially when the pornography admission was deleted. I detest adultery and pornography. Pornography has destroyed many marriages; mine included. Yes, there is forgiveness for the offender, but trust is never regained. The consequences lasts for years, and it will affect Josh's children. I hope that Josh receives REAL counseling this time because he does have deep rooted issues. I am so sorry that Anna has to go through this publicly. I know she is deeply hurt. I have really enjoyed this blog, but I am finished with it. I hope there are no more scandals associated with this family, but when people put their lives on public display......There is grace and mercy and forgiveness through the shed Blood of Christ. Hopefully, this will be a turning point for Josh in his relationship with the LORD and his family; I feel bad that this had to be the catalyst, but what the devil meant for evil, the LORD will turn it for Josh's good. And I already know this will not be posted even though it is not derogatory or insulting; just the truth.

  119. My Greatest Heartache is for Anna & the 4 Babies.
I Pray GOD's Strength, Wisdom, Comfort, & Healing on them.

The Reason the teenage "inappropriate groping" minor-incident even re-surfaced,
was because Josh was hiding THIS Major, Covenant-Breaking, Behavior!
GOD Absolutely would have kept that minor-stuff buried in the past,
if the door had not been opened to Satan,
    by Josh's Meditating-on & Giving-in-to the
Lustful Temptations, that led to Infidelity.

Honestly Ticked-Off at Josh for doing this to Anna & those babies!
Also for Negatively Effecting his Whole Family with this!

I do Pray Josh Truly lets GOD help him be delivered.

    GOD can restore,
but Anna is under no obligation to stay where her Covenant was broken,
if she doesn't feel she can trust Josh to remain faithful.

GOD Bless Anna & the babies, & Help her to follow Your lead.
    GOD Bless All the Duggars.

  120. I hope that he is truly repentant and not solely because he was caught. That being said I think Anna should divorce him. Seeing as he has touted the grace of God as changing him before from the molestation scandal he still thought it was fine to continue in sin, and more sexual sin at that. While King David a man after Gods own heart also stumbled and was forgiven, I don't believe Anna should take him at his word any more and you can not live in marriage when you question everything the person says. He broke the vow and is released from hers according to scripture.

  121. we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of GOd, confessing this sin is the first step in healing. you have a long road ahead of you, but it's been nailed to the cross under HIS blood. doesn't make it easier for Anna or the family. but the family of God will still stand behind you lifting you up in prayer Josh and Anna. I know fear doesn't come from the Lord, but i feel as though i should say this, Josh you may feel horrible and hate yourself but please remember you are precious in HIS sight, you re priceless, Jesus gave his life for YOU. so many still care about you, we don't condone this sin but we love you. You need to realize this. WE know there is still hope, God's grace is still in reach for you. grab ahold of it and receive it. turn from your sin and sin no more. lifting you up in prayer.

  138. I am confused as to why the comments section is so quiet, when all Duggar supporters have been here saying, "his sins were of his youth, do we not all have sins from our past?" What, now, do we use to defend Josh? Do we cast him aside and support his family, making him the outcast, thrown to the wolves, left to be the scapegoat while we blindly continue to support the family and their fight to stop others from acting immoral?

Before, I could not reasonably say that Josh should be condemned for the sins of his youth. Yes, I worried about his mental state and his need for true counseling. Multiple sexual offenses against young victims cannot be prayed away. Yes, God can be there to support them through terrible times, but multiple offenses requires real, ongoing help. But did I think a man's life should be ruined because of something he did as a teenager? No, I was willing to say, "this man made a terrible mistake as a young man--maybe even a child, in maturity." That was giving him the benefit of the doubt, despite the atrocious nature of his acts.

The real problem all along had been that this family put themselves in the public eye. That this family stood on a pedestal to judge others. Josh worked for an organization who sought to pass judgment on how others lived their lives. I was not surprised at the vitriol this family faced. They put themselves in a position to be knocked down and they, unfortunately, had skeletons filling their closets.

People on this site argued, "let them handle this privately, as it's a private matter." Yet, these people seemed to have forgotten that this family was paid generously to be in the public eye. Regardless of when Josh had harmed children, they were ripe for the judgment of society, and they asked for it. Conveniently, though, when the tables turned, they wanted privacy.

You can justify all day long that the family had long handled the situation of molestation. But now--how do you justify Josh's actions?

    ReplyDelete
  139. Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Every Christian should remember these words. None of us can live a perfect and sinless life. Only Jesus Christ lived a perfect life for us. I wonder how many of those who hate Josh Duggar would like all of their secret sins laid bare for the world to see. Would they like to have all of these people combing over their life to find any sin that they committed in the past or are committing now? Would they like reporters swarming them and their family? His family has been through absolute hell the last couple months. Josh has the weight of knowing it was his sin that has caused so much pain and loss. Josh is a sinner. We may not struggle with this particular sin, but we all do sin. Josh is also one redeemed by the blood of Christ. He is not a Christian because he is perfect and without blame, nor are we. Josh is a Christian because Jesus came to seek and save the lost and to save him from his sin. We all need saving from our sin. We are seeing so many people say he was a terrible hypocrite for teaching and fighting for Christian family values while he was miserably failing to live up to those values. Newsflash- we all fail miserably. We need Jesus. The media is quick and gleeful to pint out these things in Christians. They do not feel the need to point them out in other people they admire, even if it is the very same sin. We cannot expect people who do not know Christ to show mercy to someone who is asking forgiveness. However, we should expect Christians to know how to do this. What of some of the Christians that have been commenting on this and declaring that Josh is not a true Christian because he has sinned again? I read a post from a Christian who said that Jesus told the women at the well to go and sin no more. This Christian felt that they could forgive one sin, but not any more after that. They used this verse as justification. That is taking the Bible out of context and twisting its meaning. Christians are sinners! The Bible says so. What about Paul who said this: For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.
So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin. (Romans 7:14-25 ESV)
Even Paul was a sinner! Does this mean he was no longer a Christian? Of course not! Perhaps we have made this Christian family, the Duggars, into a sort of idol. We have held them up and admired them and forgot that they were human and sinful like we are. You can see from Josh's statement that he is very ashamed. Shouldn't we Christians rejoice that he has repented and asked for forgiveness? Or would we have the angels do all of the rejoicing in Heaven because we are too smug for that?

Our family is praying for the whole Duggar family and for all families who are in need of mercy. Do not despair. Cling to Christ, the One Who died and rose for you that you might live in Him!

  143. First I would like to state how wrong it is for the Duggar family to not be permitted to continue sharing their lives with those of us who love them and miss their encouragement as we all try to raise our families and serve God. I also for bad for Josh being persecuted by the media and for his having to resign from his job. I was also so happy to read about the newest precious little gift (Meredith) that was added to their family. My feelings for the entire Duggar family which naturally includes Anna have not changed. However, having said that, I cannot begin to put into words how sad I feel for Anna and her 4 children. She married him knowing his past, and believed in the man she thought she had married. It deeply saddens me to think how she must be feeling knowing that her entire married life has been a lie!! She is a wonderful wife and mother, and while she was going through all the morning sickness, aches & pains of carrying a child, and then the pain of giving birth, he was cheating on her!! I'm sure that Anna will stand by her man, but he DOES NOT deserve her!! I'm not even going down the "Pornography" road, because that is disgusting on so many other levels! I pray that none of his viewings had to do with children!
In closing, I'll keep Anna, her 4 precious babies and the entire Duggar family in my prayers. I'll have to try to find it in my heart to pray for Josh, but not yet!!

Our hearts are broken along with yours. Sadly, sin affects all of us and none of us are immune. I stand with you in prayer for Josh and his precious family. We, as parents, raise our children Biblically, but must always remember everyone on this earth makes their own choices regardless of the consequences. Satan roams this earth seeking those he can destroy. Praying for each of you and especially Josh as he moves forward.

I truly believe God does not expect us to judge the sinner, but pray for sincere repentance and restoration.

  168. I think you are only sorry Josh because you got caught. I find it amazing that You had attended the Bates wedding with Anna. How could you face all those devout christians ? I don't know how Anna can overlook all that you have done and trust you. It makes me winder.....

  169. My heart breaks for you all. Prayers for precious Anna and the children. I pray that Anna is wrapped in the precious arms of Jesus and can find comfort in His unfailing love. Prayers that the media will grant her some solace as she grieves this tremendous burden.

  170. Enough already. Y'all have WAY too many skeletons dancing in your closets. As a Christian, I will continue to pray for the entire family. But PLEASE, extricate yourselves from social media and get HELP! Anna, it is time for you to GO! God does not want this for you. PLEASE believe this!

  172. Anna,
So many are praying for you. You are not alone. The Lord is with you and many wives have lived through such betrayals. Spouses make bad choices but that is NOT YOUR shame. As someone who has lived through infidelity, (and it is an epidemic), please know that it is not a poor reflection on you! You are an amazing woman and everyone loves you and thinks the world of you and your beautiful children. May God grant you the strength to persevere during this difficult time and may you know that He and so so many, love your and admire the wonderful woman you are.

  174. I truthfully don't know how to react to this except to say that my heart breaks for your family. As if you haven't already been through enough! Joshua - how did your life go so horribly wrong? Or better yet, how did you allow it to go so horribly wrong! I sincerely hope you now realize that you need professional psychological help. You have had the constant love and support of your family in spite of everything, but it is now time for you to own up to all the pain you have caused them and become a real man! Not some unfaithful, faithless shell. You are the one that must take the first steps and you must accept the consequences of the wrongs you have committed. I sincerely pray that your marriage survives this horrible thing for the sake of your children, but only if you truly make amends. The best thing a man can do for his children is love their mother. You have not done that and have failed Anna, your children and your marriage. My heart breaks for Anna and your children as well as the rest of your family. I know nobody is perfect but I honestly never expected anything like this from anyone in the Duggar family. All I can do is pray for all of you.

  175. I pray for all of you whenever I think of you. Something I felt I should say, do with it what you want.
King David was a man with many flaws, but he always turned back to God and repented. God said "he was a man after God's own heart".
Abraham doubted God's provision. We still live with some of his consequences, but God called him a friend. Josh, God loves you. You can be great too.

  176. When Jesus sees you Josh, He sees you through His blood. He loves you so, and your actions are not unforgivable. He is your loving father and wants you to have truth in your inward parts. Except for Gods Grace and mercy we are all lost. Let Him fill you and be your all in all. He will heal and restore and help you. His mercy saves us from our own judgments we set up, that's one of the millions of ways He is good. Don't be overwhelmed to the point of despair. Rely on His precious atonement for you. You are not rejected, you are accepted in the Beloved. Let Him do a thorough and complete work. Your best days are ahead. I believe the Lord wanted me to tell you this.

  177. Josh you are forgiven by God, forgive yourself and healing will come. Anna forgiveness is a choice. Forgive by faith, minute by minute if you have to. God will help you get through this. Focus on him and he will guide you through the tough times. Keep your eyes on Jesus not what people are saying about you. Remember Jesus too was criticized, but he ignored it and fulfilled his calling. You will get through this. You 2 are stronger together than apart. Psalms 138:8 says
"The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands." KJV.

  179. "Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is scandalized, and I am not on fire? If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things that concern my infirmity.

And he said to me: My grace is sufficient for thee; for power is made perfect in infirmity. Gladly therefore will I glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may dwell in me." (2 Cor. 11:29-30 & 12:9)

Let us all more perfectly turn to God. Josh, Jim Bob, and Michelle you encourage us by your humility.

  181. I pray Josh seeks Christian counseling not only for himself but for Anna also. Asking for forgiveness is the first step, living by God's laws aren't always easy, we stumble and fall, it's just harder when your in the public eye all the time and Satan is always there to help you fail. Just remember our God is mightier and bigger and He will protect His children when we choose to follow Him. Good luck Josh with your journey back to Him.

  182. By draging this up time after time, the media has hurt these girls more then letting it remain in the past. What good has it done to go over and over it. It was a bad thing that happen years ago and to my understanding was dealt with between all partys concered. Help was gotten for all and by digging it up now and over and over again it is like pouring salt on a wound. People change, people grow up. What has been confessed and God has forgiven is not our place to keep judging and rehashing for what seems to be the love of the media and some very sadistic people who love dirt.

  183. Josh, what you have done is wrong. You already know that, but I'm not sure you really understand how much. You have wronged your wife and children. Sir, it is time to man up and see a therapist. You must figure out what is going on in your brain. God loves us and forgives us, but He also requires us to do our part. If you hope to ever have any chance of happiness and peace on Earth, you owe it first to yourself, and then to Anna and your little ones to do some of the hardest work you will ever do. I will pray for you and your little family and for your entire family at large.

  184. It pains me to hear this news. While the world cheers for divorce, I want to encourage you to turn from evil, and stand by your wife. And for her in hurt and pain work towards healing your marriage. Marriage is a struggle worth fighting for. It only continues to break more hearts to head for divorce. Especially the hearts of those children.

  185. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Be strong and give it all to the Lord. He created you and He will heal you and your family.

  186. In prayer. So sorry. He cannot fail who has never tried. The just man falleth seven times and riseth back up. God never uses a man greatly until he hurts him deeply.

  187. Praying for the entire family. I'm dealing with infidelity right now myself. It's devastating and so very painful, God is a loving, merciful God. I pray Josh gets the correct help for the addiction and the entire family can heal, rebuild trust and recover. My heart and prayers go out to everyone. I'm sorry you have to deal with all of this in the public eye. May Our Lord give you His peace and strength to endure. Keep fighting the good fight.

  188. Praying for Anna. Her hurt is beyond any emotional hurt. May she overtime know that this sin is not against her but God. And that her anger and madness turn to sadness of heart. Sadness for you Josh and your distance from the Lord. You have come to a bad place and all of our hearts break for each of you. Your sons and daughters will fight the same battles someday. Be courageous and strong. Only with the Lord Jesus's help can you ever change. Daily you must walk with Him. We plead for you and your young family. Do it for the Lord and he will NOT fail you. And secondly for the magnificent women he has given YOU to care for! And lastly your children and their children.... STOP the demonic enemy in it's track. You can still be used for the Lords' plans. Don't write yourself off yet. Ask for His help. Only thru him Josh only thru him.

  189. It is painful to hear the news today. But, it only exposes how evil the enemy is and how weak our flesh is. I will pray for you Josh, Anna and your families as I always do. I hope and pray that you will continue to be a witness for Christ and not just with your mouths, but in your heart.

  190. Your family has been in the prayers of so many people. I was hoping that the latest news wasn't true. We are saddened by the sinfulness that so easily besets us all. Yet, we have a hope and a future through Jesus Christ! Praise be to God, in His infinite wisdom, mercy, and love for us! So if we confess our sins, then He forgives us. 1 John 1:9. Praying for His transforming love to touch your heart and mind, Josh, and give you the strength and ability to change what you could not change on your own. May you have peace and assurance that you are forgiven and that healing can take place. God can work things for good. Praying for you all. I sure miss seeing your family!

  191. My heart is breaking for you and with you Anna. Praying that the Lord will give you peace in this time and cover your family from others and what they have to say. I know God will see you through this hard time and my heart breaks for you and having to be in this situation!

  192. Man, I hate this. I can stand by him for the wrongs he did when he was younger. But standing by him with this when it is going to hurt his wife and kids so bad makes it really hard...
