A few months ago, Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo and their two girls traveled back to Arkansas to spend time with family, with a brief stop in Dallas to visit Justin and Claire. On their first day in Arkansas, Jinger met up with her mom and sisters for a girls day, while Jeremy--with Evangeline in tow--went to work with Austin. The video that the Vuolos posted (link below) includes Abbie, Kendra, and Lauren, whose appearances on social media are limited.

Why is it OK for Jinger to tape and post other people's kids, but nobody's allowed to post hers?
ReplyDeletePerhaps she got permission? Was the video from a public place like a restaurant? You risk your image in public. Why are you in their business? They don’t need others mad on their behalf. Did the tabloid get permission to post the images from Jinger? They all raise the kids different and have different concerns about publicity.

Delete@July 6th, 3:23pm. As friends of the Duggars, Lily & Ellie have probably promised the various Duggar family members that they won't share any information without having permission to do so. Thus, Lily & Ellie can't update the birthday list without breaking a promise. I would also love to see a more accurate birthday list, but I appreciate that Lily & Ellie are sticking to whatever promise they made to the Duggars.

DeleteJinger's book was actually mostly positive toward her parents and family. She spoke highly of her parents but explained why--to her, specifically--Gothard's teachings were harmful. I feel she stopped short of directly saying her parents were wrong in following it. She gave at least one example of when her parents pointed her in the right direction despite Gothard's rules, and overall emphasized that she appreciated her upbringing but as she got older realized that a lot of Gothard's "additions" didn't actually follow the Bible. I don't know if her parents read it or not, but she made a pretty good case of why some of the teachings were wrong so hopefully they learned something from it. But she spoke highly of them so I doubt there was much of a rift as a result of it. And given how many of the girls were wearing pants in the photo from the girls' day, I think a lot of them agree with her!
DeleteI found Jinger's book to be highly respectful of her parents. She has found true freedom in Jesus Christ and is compelled to speak up, especially to set the record straight on what was said in the book she "authored" with her sisters. The Bible commands the Church (the body of Christ) to share the TRUE Gospel, not man-made Gothard rules, and that is what she has tried to do. I give her a lot of credit.

ReplyDeleteKendra did have a boy last year. Lauren did have a baby (probably a boy) earlier this year. That video was filmed late winter/very early spring. You can tell by the trees.

DeleteCan you imagine the Bates daughters writing books and appearing all over tv and then in a documentary about how they were raised in a cult and how terrorized they were all the time and then posting a video showing themselves visiting the family like they didn't say these things. There is no accountability for their actions. Them Bates kids not only would never do this to their family, neither would the siblings put up with it if one of the Bates kids lost their minds and caused all this hate online that the Duggar family is getting. The nerve of them 2 girls! They are really full of themselves! Gil and Kelly get respect because they don't tolerate that kind of disrespect.

DeleteA couple differences - first, Gil is still on the board of the IBLP. I keep hoping he's there to help steer it to a better place and bring some sense to it, but I'm probably wrong on that. Second, the Bates didn't really have the same sort of explosive, family-destroying controversy that probably made it a little easier to step out and explain that some things clearly didn't go according to plan. Like, that fact was already pretty obvious based on Josh, so taking a further step to explain where some of the things went wrong wasn't as huge as it would be for the Bates. In fact, I think Jinger was actually very gentle on her parents in the book and probably felt like she was even defending them and explaining why they did what they did at the time. Finally, I tend to think the Bates figured out sooner to loosen the reins on their kids from those rules and regulations to keep them from rebelling to the same degree. They've showed a lot more physical contact with future spouses, and dressed in pants for years. They never seemed quite as rigidly "programmed" as the Duggars, to be honest, so I think it's a very different situation.

They got to see the world, had huge celebrations for birthdays and holidays and weddings. They got them involved in ministries and taught them how to serve God and others. They lived in a huge beautiful home and had a small store size pantry filled to the brim with food. Because of the way they were raised and the amount of children in the family they became a household name. People including myself were inspired by their wholesome lifestyle. That wasn't easy for the parents to raise them that way. They were in a stricter type denomination where modesty and integrity and a love for God and others was a priority which isn't a bad thing considering how most people are raising their kids. Then they grew up and two of the girls clearly got around a lot of worldly type people and decided to rebel against the parents and all that they use to believe in. After all the dishonor and now the horrible things being said about their parents in the media they think its ok to make money off of what they did. If they feared their Dad so much they would never have done this to him. I don't think he was mean, I think he might have spoiled them too much. Try pulling this stuff with Gil Bates or my Dad. lol. We are loyal to our parents.

Significantly greater chance of genetic defects before that age - new study just out - safest years are 23 to 32.
DeleteLooked at some of that study. The lead investigator “assumes” that below the age of 23, defects are related to lifestyle such as alcohol, smoking and drugs. While that would make sense I’m always a bit doubtful about research with assumptions.
