Josiah and Lauren have been engaged for about three months, although the official wedding date has not been made public. Below is a photo of the couple enjoying a picnic on a beautiful summer night, accompanied by Lauren's little brothers. Aren't they cute?

They're engaged and STILL need chaperones? Yikes.
ReplyDeleteI know. Plus they’re little kids. I would find it very unromantic to have to watch little kids on a date
DeleteYou’re new...
DeleteHonesty I think that’s the best thing they could possibly do. I’d bring a soccer ball, give it to the little kids and tell them to go play so I could talk in private with my fiancé.
DeleteNot just watch little kids, but entertain your siblings on your date. It would be difficult to discuss anything serious, much less of a personal nature (spiritual or otherwise) with an audience. The problem with constant companionship is that the marriages tend to be a group project/event too. It's hard to go from the crowd to the intimacy of two (married and social).
DeleteI agree with Anon at 904AM. If I had to have a chaperone on a date, then I'd rather have some ykids who are young enough to find romance "gross" so that they're not that nosy, but old enough to send off with a soccer ball to, say, a field 100 feet away, so they can still see what you're doing, but far enough away that they don't hear any private conversations. I'm sure it's not as stressful as having parents or even older siblings around.
DeleteHowever I am not sure if this really is fair for young kids to be given the responsibility of chaperoning their older siblings.
I am pretty sure Si and Lauren have talked privately on the phone or chat on the Net, though. Jessa mentioned in the revised version of "Growing Up Duggar" that that she and Ben did have some unmonitored phone calls while they were courting. If JB let her daughter do that, I assume he'd let his son do it, too. (I know he monitored Derick and Jill's Skype sessions but that was BEFORE their courtship started).
7:35, I thought they said they read all their texts and listened in on all their calls? I could be wrong though.
DeleteI was sure that quote was on this very blog and I found it, it was posted on July 2, 2016:
DeleteJessa: "The day Ben and I started courting, we began our tradition of calling each other on the phone every night! These were such special times. We would talk about everything from how our day went, to what we had been learning from our Bible reading, and then just anything else that we wanted to talk about. These calls were not "chaperoned." They were private--just between the two of us."

To each their own, but missing out on those steamy dates as a teen and young adult should be a crime!
Delete2:06, teens don’t need to be going on “steamy” dates
Delete@7:35. It is not what Jim Bob allows but what Lauren's father allows.
DeleteSuper cute looking couple. Maybe they are waiting until Jinger has her baby and can travel. Maybe a September wedding?
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was thinking. With Joe and Kendra's baby due to arrive sometime in June and with Jinger's baby arriving sometime in July, maybe they want to wait till August or September to wed. Either way, congrats to the happy couple.
DeleteThis is so cute!
ReplyDeleteAnother wedding teaser. We know it won't be until after the 16th of June. Jim Bob and Michelle have speaking commitments during the first two weeks of June.
ReplyDeleteI think the wedding will be very soon. I think it will be after Kendra and Joes baby due date, but before Jingers. Lots of people have been seen arriving at the big house, so looks like the wedding shower might be this weekend!
ReplyDeleteThey should get some time alone. Do they really get to know eachother with a lot of people or little kids around?
ReplyDeleteYeah. Somehow babysitting Lauren's brothers doesn't seem like a date to me.
DeleteHer parents should watch the kids and give the couple privacy.
ReplyDeleteTime 6:22PM Sun 6/3/18
DeleteFirst off that sounds rude. Who are you to tell somebody's parents to watch their own kids. This is courtship they won't get privacy until their married as for now no. Still that is a rude comment yes you can make your own opinions. But Iam mad you made a comment like that.
Neddy, OPs comment wasn’t rude
DeleteNeddy, it’s not like you to be a “Negative Neddy.” I have always felt uplifted by your positive comments. OP’s comment wasn’t even rude. Please bring back “Nice Neddy.” ♥️
DeletePerhaps they choose their chaperones.😁
DeleteWedding is the last weekend in June I'd say.
ReplyDeleteJinger won’t be able to travel then, too close to her due date. I think we’re looking at an August wedding?
DeleteTime 2:31PM
ReplyDeleteAWW so cute.
Thank you for clearing up all the gossip. Adorable couple. God Bless!!!
ReplyDeleteMy guess- August . . .after Lauren and Jinger have their babies. Duggar weddings always include all siblings. . . whether it be in the wedding or attendance.
ReplyDeleteWISHING them much happiness.
Agree. Probably the first or second week of August.
DeleteDo you mean Kendra!
DeleteNo way will they wait until august. The new season starts at the end of july, so my bet will be june and the first episode will be the wedding. Next season they will show it back to front courtship, engagement, dress shopping and then wedding again, it has become the TLC Duggar programme formula.
DeleteI think it will be in June
ReplyDeleteI recon they're getting married this weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy bet is on tomorrow for the wedding. It is my wedding anniversary so it would be nice.
ReplyDeleteCongrats again on your engagement! I'm sure whenever the wedding is, will be simply wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteDid they have bachelor/bachelorette party yet?
ReplyDeleteAlso if Kendra's baby is due in 2 weeks, I doubt they would schedule a wedding for like a day before her due date. And also Michelle&JimBob are traveling to CA that weekend too. So maybe the following weekend? 23rd? Or 30th? Or next weekend, the 9h? They got engaged around March 5th, it's almost 3 months, usually Duggars have 3 months or even less.
Dear Josiah & Lauren
ReplyDeleteMy family & I love the show. We look forward to each new season coming. We can't wait for the wedding and honeymoon on the next season. Here are few names for your kids Jerica Nicole Duggar also Josiah Matthew Duggar jr.
It takes time and money to plan and execute a wedding. I don’t know what her families financial situation is or if TLC will contribute. We will see the wedding when it happens and I’m sure it will be lovely.
ReplyDeleteOmg.....she is stunning!
ReplyDeleteI think it’s really funny how all the Duggar children’s spouses look similar to themselves.
DeleteHow anyone can think Lauren looks like Josiah is beyond me. They look nothing alike. Plus, just look at stars and people that you know who are together. They often have similar characteristics. So, for those Duggars who married someone with similar features, it's perfectly natural they would be attracted to eachother.
DeleteI didn’t mean it in a bad name, just pointing it out. And Josiah and Lauren probably look the least alike of all the couples TBH. I think she looks similar to Anna Duggar though, but has a mouth that looks similar to Jill’s.
DeleteThey married young so she can look good.
Delete2:11, if you take care of yourself you can look good in your older years too
DeleteJosiah and Lauren look alike and seem to have similar personalities. Another great match like JoKen and Joystin so is this Josiren?
ReplyDeleteAll those names really don't lend themselves to being put together like that.
DeleteHahaha... I like the nicknames.
DeleteWow, I don't see any resemblance between them.
DeleteI don’t think they look the same, but I think their looks match up
DeleteI wouldn't blame them if they were trying to keep the wedding date as private as possible, because every time the Duggars open up with things, it seems to invite the general public's criticism. As a fan, though, I'm grateful that some of them are still willing to share details of their lives with us.
ReplyDeleteIt's not so much the comments as it is the fans that seem to think THEY need to go and stand outside the church and watch. The Duggars are wise not to give much notice of when and where the wedding will take place
DeleteThey keep all these wedding dates a secret, right up until the they post the first photos.
DeleteWholeheartedly agree Debbie.
DeleteWedding date known, wedding date not known, it doesn't matter. There will be pictures. There will be opinions. If they didn't want the comments, they wouldn't seek the publicity.
DeleteI have a feeling we're going to see wedding pictures soon. Like maybe in the next few days...Jane
ReplyDelete;)
DeleteMaybe they will have a longer engagement compared to the recent siblings. Regardless, they are in love and should do what makes them feel happy. Can't wait to tear up for your wedding, Si and Lauren. Many blessings on your upcoming nuptials!
ReplyDeleteOh sweet pic
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord, such a sweet couple!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear! Take your time kids!
ReplyDeleteJosiah has always been my favorite Duggar kid,,,,,,so wish them every happiness and blessings from God.
ReplyDeleteI don't see why the wedding date is such a secret. The Duggar weddings have been doing this for a while now. Don't see the need.
ReplyDeleteI think they do it to keep fans from showing up outside the church and gawking. The less notice, the fewer "looky lous".
DeleteThey didn't keep Jill or Jessa's wedding dates secret, they supposedly tried to keep Jinger's a secret but the date got leaked and wedding crashers showed up. I think that's one reason Joy Anna and Joe's weddings were kept mum. I can see a need for security both from cray haters and overzealous fans. It's also likely requested or even required by whatever media outlet gets the exclusive, to avoid competing publications getting unauthorized access.
DeleteWe have gone to all the weddings, close friends of both families, and I wouldnt know a crasher if I had seen one. There are upwards of 1000 guests and while we do see some of the same friends, I truly dont recognize many other of the guests. Especially the new spouse extended family and friends.
DeleteThey have a long engagement for a Duggar. 3 months already? Usually it's 2.5 months, and I expected them to be married at the end of May, like 25-26th.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she wanted an outdoor wedding and they’re waiting for the weather to be nicer
DeleteNo complaints about the Duggars, but would love to see someone do something other than get married and have babies. Would love to hear of one of the adult children moving away from home and experiencing life on their own.
ReplyDeleteHaving babies is how the Duggar show got started in the first place. I doubt they have any plans to change the theme.
DeleteI always feel like we are playing a game of “guess the wedding date.” Why can’t they just say when the wedding is? Do they really think that we, the peons, will crash the wedding? I like the couple and wish them well, but the secrecy is not necessary.
ReplyDeletePeople did crash Jingers wedding. They took pictures and then posted them on the internet, so I understand them waiting to announce the date.
DeleteYou can always choose to "not play the game" and not let it bother you that you don't know the date. It's no skin off my nose if they want to keep the date a secret.
DeleteWho cares when they get married? What would be huge news would be a broken engagement involving a Duggar.
DeleteThere a 1000 people at the wedding. It is not really a private thing.
DeletePeople didn't crash the wedding. Paparazzi took photos of Jinger from a distance, outside. You can't stop people from being in a public area like a sidewalk or a roadway. The Duggars always put up curtain shielding, so if someone got a picture, it's the fault of whoever put up the curtains wrong. The wedding dates have always been leaked by family friends posting travel plans or pictures of the invitations. It hasn't caused a problem at the wedding.
DeleteI hope Michelle and Jim Bob don't listen to their phone calls and read their e-mails and text messages. Years ago Michelle said they did that to their children. Hopefully she's discontinued that practice with her adult children still living at home.
ReplyDeleteThe people who "leak" pictures are not friends, they are disgusting.
ReplyDeleteMany if not most people post pictures of their lives on social media. It's not "leaking;" it's living their life. If the Duggars and their betrothed are somehow so important that their every move needs to be kept secret, they ought to stay inside and never associate with anyone.
DeleteThe people who leaked wedding invitation photos were obviously invited to the wedding and considered friends. Maybe the Duggars should cut back the guest list if they need to keep things under control.
DeleteWill Lauren be attending college this fall?
ReplyDeleteI doubt that's in the cards for her.
DeleteNo, she'll more likely be going to the obstetrician.
DeleteYou know the answer to that is no, and you are obviously trolling. If you don’t like the Duggars life style then don’t come onto their site.
DeleteNo she is a housewife
DeleteI love watching the Duggars, but it just seems wrong to me to go from a kiss to the the 'vavavoom' withing 24 hours. There's beauty (and love) in having 3 to six months of discovering eachother between the first kiss and the actual business. Don't you think? I just don't understand why they are stricter than the bible
ReplyDeleteActually, most people in the Bible didn't even "court", their parents chose their spouses for them in arranged marriages. There are some exceptions to that, such as Ruth and Boaz, but they were both widowers and not under anyone's authority at the time. Many of them didn't even meet until the wedding day.
DeleteAnd while many of the Duggars have short courtships, AFAIK all of the courtships started only after some kind of "getting to know you" period that happened off-camera.
While some cynics seem to suspect this, I doubt Jim Bob just told his daughters one day "I've chosen this young man to court and marry you, so pretend to like him for the sake of the TV show that's made us so much money you never have to work a day in your life".
I agree with you, it seems unlikely that Jim Bob would set this up because the couples do really seem to love each other
ReplyDelete
