Happy Monday! We have been faithfully blogging about the Duggar family for six-and-a-half years, and we have enjoyed every minute of it. We are incredibly honored and humbled to have hundreds of thousands of readers from across the globe, with a total pageview count of 128 million.
Those who follow my (Ellie's) blog (NashvilleWife.com) know that I am struggling with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I really appreciate all the prayers, well wishes, and advice.
To prevent my condition from worsening, I will be taking a two-week blogging break. During that time, I will still be in the loop, and if there are any big Duggar announcements to be made, I will write a quick post.
In the meantime, I have pre-scheduled ten posts, which means there will be a new one up almost every day, so be sure to check the blog regularly. I am praying that this break will put me on the road to recovery, and I look forward to returning in a couple weeks.
Please feel free to e-mail me at DuggarFamilyBlog@gmail.com if anything comes up during my break. Thank you for being such loyal readers!

ReplyDeletePraying that you feel better and that this break is the recovery that you need. Carpal tunnel is no fun! :)
ReplyDeleteEllie... sending prayers for thorough healing and to be pain-free! We greatly appreciate your service to the Duggar family and all of us as well! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to feeling better mrs Ellie!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon. I went thru a similar problem with my right wrist years ago. Never got better til I had surgery (which I was hoping to avoid) and then rehab, which worked wonders. Shouldn't have been scared of the surgery or put it off. Live & learn. Will miss the discussions here, so hurry back.
ReplyDeletesorry to hear about the carpal tunnel syndrome you are suffering with. you will be in my prayers. i also want to thank you for helping keep us duggar fans in the loop. i bet it takes a lot of your time and energy. it is very much appreciated! God Bless!
ReplyDeleteI have the same condition, but if I write I take my time writing it & pace it,it's not a race to get whatever out there, that needs a rush job on it,if I do this it doesn't bother me a bit patience is the key thing.
ReplyDeleteI hope you heal soon. It's so difficult when physical disabilities prevent you from doing what you love to do. I, for one, so appreciate your diligent, responsible blogging. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI have struggled with carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow for the last 15 years. At one point, it became so unbearable that I was wearing a wrist splint and I was in pain all the time. But then I found a really good massage therapist who was able to go in deep and release some really tight knots that had formed--in my arm and in the shoulder. Wow! I cannot tell you what relief that brought. Additionally, I found that two motions in particular flare mine up (almost instantly!): stirring with the rotating/upward motion (instead I hold a spoon with my whole fist and stir with my upper arm), and the twisting motion of opening a jar (my husband bought me an electric an opener and one of those jar straps for regular twist off lids). I still have to be careful, but those things helped immensely. I hope you can find some relief also; I know all too well how painful it can be. (Years ago, I also heard of a simple surgery where they make a small incision in the dr's office and just cut the tendon--sounds kind of scary, and it is hard to find someone who will do it, but apparently it brings excellent results, with very little recovery time ... much better than the traditional carpal syndrome surgery).
ReplyDeleteI hope you will feel better soon, Ellie! You've been wonderful handling this blog!
ReplyDeletePlease feel better soon! I've enjoyed your blog over the years and wish you well.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for your recovery Ellie ! I hope the break does you the world of good :-)
ReplyDeleteyou need to have surgery Ellie for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. and then you will be fine. My friend had same problem and after surgery she had 3 weeks recovery that was in 1999 and now she does not have and problems.
ReplyDeletePraying for you.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself and thank you for your dedication to all your readers and the Duggar's.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon! God bless.
ReplyDeleteMay GOD watch over you during this absence and I pray HIS Heavy healing upon you.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope you feel better soon! Have you tried an Ergonomic Keyboard for your computer? I was having the same trouble years ago with a job that required a lot of typing. A friend recommended this type of keyboard for my desktop (laptops are terrible for the wrists so I stick with the old desktop :) I had never heard of one and they do take a little getting used to but it helped SO much and provides much needed support and proper angling for your hand position. Hope this helps! Thank you for all do you to produce positive factual info about the Duggars!
ReplyDeleteOne other bit of advice....Try taking 500 mg of Tumeric per day (available in vitamin/supplement sections at most pharmacies)It works wonders to reduce inflamation and has greatly helped with pain in my wrists and knees. Learned about it from a local family physician and many people I've talked to said it worked for them too. Takes about 2 weeks to start working but when you stop taking it you can tell a big difference in return of symptoms
ReplyDeleteCould you also just take in tumeric through adding it to food?
DeleteCareful with that supplement. Talk to your doctor first. Also check into source of the turmeric (note spelling), possible interactions, side effects, and proper dosage for you. Not everyone can take this, and not every source of turmeric is considered clean/safe.
DeleteYes. I believe as. It's affect may be a little watered down but I'm not sure.
DeleteTurmeric comes from the root of the Curcuma longa plant and has a tough brown skin and a deep orange flesh. Turmeric has long been used as a powerful anti-inflammatory in both the Chinese and Indian systems of medicine. Turmeric was traditionally called "Indian saffron" because of its deep yellow-orange color and has been used throughout history as a condiment, healing remedy and textile dye
DeleteTurmeric as a supplement can cause stomach problems and bleeding problems, and can be trouble for diabetics. Please don't start without checking with your doctor.
DeleteSo sorry to hear of your carpal tunnel issues. I hope the rest will heal your problem!
ReplyDeletePraying for you!
ReplyDeleteEllie: We will be praying for you. Thank you for keeping us informed. Have a blessed week.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon Ellie. Prayers for you xxx
ReplyDeleteSo sorry Elli, I am praying that you will get some relief soon! Also there is a computer program called Dragon that will let you make verbal computer entries and you can pretty much stop typing whic is probably much of the cause of the carpal tunnel. Feel better soon!
ReplyDeletePraying for your healing!
ReplyDeleteHave a good rest, Ellie! I hope you went/are going to see a doctor, because as much as rest is good, only a proper diagnosis can solve the problem. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe speech recognition software is something for you? I use nuance dragon naturally speaking premium. You can see on youtube how it works
ReplyDeleteBless you
ReplyDeleteMy aunt had the same issues with her hands. After surgery she is fine. She has not had an issue for five years now.
ReplyDeleteI healed my same problem following e-cises in the Pain Free and Health Through motion books by Pete Egoscue. Do an internet search "egoscue carpal tunnel" It might help you. Thank you for all you do.
ReplyDeleteAwe, thats is no fun, I had surgery for that too. Im sure doing all these blogs has been pretty rough on them. Thanks for all of your hard work, you will be in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is always worried that he will end up dealing with CTS someday. We hope not!
ReplyDeleteI know this must be a very difficult time, so be strong! You've got a very supportive base of readers. :)
