The wait is almost over. Season 8 of 19 Kids and Counting premieres on Tuesday, April 1st. (Don't worry, this is not an April Fool's joke.) Click here to see promo photos.

April 1, 9PM EST/8PM CST
A Duggar Says Yes
When Ben and Jessa's courtship becomes official, the Duggar boys put Ben to the test. Later, the tables are turned on Jessa when she visits Ben's hometown. The whole family reflects on what it means that a Duggar daughter may soon be leaving the nest.

Season 8 Summary
Life can get busy with a brood of 19, but the Duggars always make sure to celebrate the special moments in their super-sized family. And there's plenty to celebrate in the eighth season of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting.  In the premiere episode, the Duggars make an exciting announcement - Jessa and Ben are courting! Dating with the intent of marriage, Jessa and Ben refrain from kissing or holding hands and always have a chaperone on dates, phone calls and even text messages. Now that their courtship is official, the Duggar boys put Ben to the test, making sure he's ready to take care of their sister. Later, the tables are turned when Jessa visits Ben's hometown and gets hit with some serious questions during a double date with Ben's parents. And the whole family reflects on what it means that a Duggar daughter may soon be leaving the nest. This 10-episode season of 19 Kids and Counting premieres April 1 at 9PM/8PM CST on TLC and airs Tuesdays in the same time slot through May.

This season will explore a changing family dynamic as the Duggar children continue to grow up, with many of the older kids considering courtships. The four eldest Duggar girls - Jana, Jill, Jessa and Jinger - announce that they have written a book, and the family attends Erin Bates' highly-anticipated wedding. Michelle spends one-on-one time with each of her children and the whole family visits Josh and Anna in Washington, DC. Throughout the season, cameras will check in on the DC-based Duggars, as Anna begins to homeschool her growing brood and the young family goes on a fun ski outing for a day. Two of the Duggars make a special trip to Nepal, and the youngest children prepare a surprise dinner theatre talent show for Jim Bob and Michelle.

  1. The previews focus almost entirely on the relationship between grown men and women according to the Duggars. Is this season going to be appropriate viewing for young children that don't see or need to know the difference yet?

  2. My mom asked one question. I have another one. Most of America lives on a daily set schedule living in a home. The Duggar's seem to be raising nomads. Are the Duggar children being harmed living out of a bus with no daily set schedule and believing they are different in that God may not call them to live out of a bus and to not have a regular job, which none of the adult Duggar children have. even Josh. And they express such support for the military yet none of them have stepped up to serve.

  3. Do these children realize they live in a bubble disconnected from the rest of the world?

  7. I'm looking forward to it, but wish there were a lot more than 10 seasons. I hope this doesn't mean the Duggars will be ending soon. I guess this teaches us to be happy for what we got.

  15. This family is doing it God's way. I also raised my daughter with God against the world's standard. She is 26, married and also saved her first kiss with her husband. They both work, live in a small apartment and are well aware of the world around them. No bubble!

  16. I agree with "Anonymous said...2" These eternal children do live in their "own world" courtesy of their parents and are disconnected from the world. None of them are allowed to run an errand alone. Their parents aren't doing them any favors with these extreme rules.

    1. Having children of my own and giving into peer pressure I had my children young. I think the Duggars are doing the right thing and try to do the same with my own children.

  19. @Anonymous@Anony. 1---I have thought that many times of past episodes! Plus, why is the show televised at 9:00p.m.? If the Duggars want it to be a family show; some of the content needs to be removed and the show should begin at 8:00. They may allow their children to stay up till 10:00 (no bus to catch for them the next morning!) at night; but most other parents like their children to be in bed by 9:00 on a school night (or earlier!).

  20. Have y'all heard about the tragedy in the Bates family? Chad and Erin were expecting a baby, but they had a miscarriage. Kelly wrote about it on the Bates family blog. Please say a prayer for them, and if you could ask your readers to as well, I'm sure the Bates would appreciate it. God Bless

  21. Josh and Anna held hands before they married. Why not Jessa and Sam?

  25. Here's a thought, I can't stand the Kardashians, so therefore, I don't watch there shows or visit sites that support them and then trash talk about them to their fans.So why do people who don't like the Duggars visit this site and comment on things that they no nothing about. If they do know about them then that would make them supporters, because who would waste time viewing or reading about someone they dislike, am I right? United we stand, Duggar strong!

  26. Anonymous 18,
The Duggar's aren't the ones who chose the time slot for 19 Kids. If you don't like it, talk to TLC about it. Besides, there are several different time zones in the US. TLC can't please everyone. :)

  27. im pretty sure since they dont own tlc they have no control of the time it is on. also why would you not want your children to see biblical relationships on tv rather than what they have on tv nowadays? also tv's have dvrs now.

    ReplyDelete
  28. just because you dont live "in the world" doesnt mean your not aware of what is around you. so, should you participate in the sin of the world so it may not seem your in a bubble?? that is truly a sad way of thinking. encouraging and teaching your children not to be a part of the world isnt keeping them from it but if you have raised them right and if they are being obedient to the Bible then they will choose to keep far far from this sinful world. as far as i can see watching them, the kids work and take college classes out in the world but choose to spend their time back home... nothing wrong with that. children who actually grow up to love their families and grow up still serving the Lord in these times...'magin that!

  29. I love the Duggars and so do my children. It's not very often that I can find a show that helps to explain the values I'm trying to teach them. So thank you Duggars for sharing your faith and love for each other and God.

  30. I like the Duggars, they're great! I wonder if I saw them when I was young if I would have done things differently. The Duggars challenge, encourage, give joy, provide a kind of friendship relationship with the world, all while maintaining their lives. The children's lives are working out nicely. It is frankly an error to say the children are in a bubble...they go out of their comfort zone and expose themselves to participate and make a positive difference .A review of shows would prove this.

  31. 19 kids doesn't come on till 11pm where I live. I wish it came on earlier. A lot of TLC shows that come on earlier or even during the day time I would not consider family friendly. I happy the Duggars are still on the air and 10 episodes is fine. The younger kids need structure and school time so they can't constantly film. It seems like since Josh got his job in DC the family is more politically active which also can't be filmed for TLC so we should be happy with the time the Duggars choose to let us see. They are obviously still filming since this blog has shown pictures just last week of filming during the book tour so that means there will be another season after this one.

  32. @SarahGee Sarah, you are so smart to suggest to dvr their show if it is not televised at a good time for one's whole family to watch at a reasonable hour. However, 8:00 is prime time family watching hour; it would just make sense to televise it then (also, advertisers would be targeting that population, as oppose to some of the commercials that run after 9:00). Content can be another issue. Interestingly, JimBob and Michelle speak of keeping everyone modest; yet have no problem speaking of their intimate life and Michelle's cycles!

  33. Lily and Ellie, It would be nice to update the cover photo on this website, have updated pics of the kids and beside jessa's add Ben next to her with a little heart showing they are courting. Let me know what you think! Other than that, I love your blog and enjoy reading it everyday! Have a nice week! From your favorite french reader living in the U.S.! :)

  36. The idea the Duggars live in a bubble - is maybe confusion about the Duggars adhering to principles that are based on the Bible. The Duggars are are 'out there' more than most families, but, where ever they are, what ever they do, with whom ever, they follow those internalized values. OR, maybe, the bubble idea - is an observation of the Kingdom of God.

His name is Ben. Also, each couple chooses their own rules for what they want to do. They might hold hands once they are engaged. There hasn't been an announcement if they were or not.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Josh and Anna did not hold hands until they were engaged!! So Jessa and Ben will choose if they want to hold hands or not when they get engaged!!!!

  40. His name is NOT sam!!! Its BEN!!!!!!

  41. Jessa is courting a young handsome man named Ben

  42. Are there any sneek peaks for the new season? I would really really like to see a sneak peak!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. As I recall Josh and Anna held hands after they were engaged, not during the courting phase.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Not worth dating a duggar girl to many rules and laws..duggars have no freedom at all, there not allowed to do anything..

    ReplyDelete
  45. I respect any choice of how a Duggar wants to conduct their courtship/engagement. It makes no difference to me (and I'm not sure why anyone of us cares) whether or not they hold hands pre or post engagement! Seems silly to discuss.

    ReplyDelete
  46. It is sometimes confusing but we never saw Josh court Anna on the show. The Duggar's did not have a regular weekly show when Josh & Anna courted. There also was the distance factor so their courting was over the phone more then in person. We first saw Anna when Josh was asking her to marry him so the subsequent episodes they were engaged. With Ben and Jessa we are seeing courting for the first time on the show. I'm glad that Jessa/Ben have chosen to be different then Josh and Anna and side hug during courting. I think courting rules should be up to the couple, not following rules in a book because not every relationship is the same.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh! I thought when you wrote "A Duggar Says Yes" you meant that Jessa and Ben were engaged! Oh well it will come soon enough!!!

  49. Re: cammie 48: That's just it. Seems to me that it's obvious that the adult children do NOT have a real choice in how they wish to conduct their relationships. What if Jessa, etc., chose to date traditionally, not include sex, of course, how would JimBob and Michelle react to that? I don't think they would allow it. That isn't having a choice. I really would like someone to ask the parents this question and get a real answer. I think they would be ostracized and the girls couldn't handle that. I'm not being disrespectful at all in this point of view, but I think it's fairly obvious that no real choice exists for any of them. Thank You

  51. I wish Michelle would stop talking about having more children and be an examole for women how to accept the fact that she is getting older and want ti show how to accept it for other women watching. A lot of women have problems when they are face with the fact that they arent young anymore. It seems.like she feels she needs to have.more babies in.order to feel useful. She.has yiung children that she can.spend.more time.with so they will have a specisl.bond with her. The.older children want to also.stsrt their lives as women too and if they are not.there to helo her how.is she.going to.do the book.signing and discussions she goes to. Also in a.commerical lately shows her and Jim going on a double date with Jessa and Ben.showing.off how romantic they are right.in.front.of.them saying you cant so.this.yet. it looks.like she.is.showing off. We.love.michelle. she is a role.model. i just hope she realizes that she.is closely.watched as a role.model and many women her age do face problems in getting older and it woukd be nice to see Michelle show them.how she can grow older gracefully. She will be.busy with.being a grandmother and raising the rest.od the younger children as she nears 50. She.has a wonderful.relationship with.Jim Bob to.show the world how two couples who.love.God can love.each.other as they grow old. I think.that would be a calling.on.it's own.

  52. totally agree with the last comment michelle should be example for older women and not wanting to keep having more babies in her late 40 and her older children should be an example for our younger generation but they cannot be because they never go outside the home and live real lives. how can they show christ love if they do not ever leave the house. these people do not live real lives. they do not hold real jobs expect for Josh. the girls do not. maybe john david does. please be real examples and not live in a bubble. christ called us to be a living example so if you say you live for him show it to others.

  53. I support the Duggar family. Even if they were not Christians, I would support a family who is raising healthy, happy, people to be good citizens, serve others, do community service and love and care for each other. They believe in caring for themselves without government and welfare support. Some people just can not stand anyone who is happy and having a wonderful life--the truth is the world hates people like this. May God bless the Duggar tribe and may it continue to increase.
