Remember last week when we posted the video of the Duggars meeting Ray Comfort? As promised, the family met up with the famous evangelist on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial just yesterday to share the love of God. How exactly did they do that? By passing out $100 bills! Well, not real $100 bills; $100 bill tracts. To see a copy of the exact tracts that the Duggars distributed, click here.
Have you ever handed out and/or received a tract?
Our church does it every Saturday! And we love Ray Comfort's tracts:) I wish there was a video of the Duggars passing out tracts at the Lincoln Memorial...will you be posting a link to one?
ReplyDeleteYes, I remember when I went on a mission trip when I waas in 8th grade that I handed out some tracts.
ReplyDeleteI was really blessed by this experience and I am sure the Duggars are too!
cool i wish i can meet them again i wish they can stop by michigan to see me
ReplyDeleteWe love putting gospel tracts in grocery carts, inside bad theology books at the bookstore (lol), in the cash spot of self check-out lines, and always with our tip at the restaurant. Gotta tip generously when you're representing the gospel. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, we give our tracts regularly. It is a very effective gospel tool. It's not too intimidating for the giver or the recipient. Keep some in your purse or pocket, and in your car. You can put 2 on your neighboring cars in nearly any parking lot. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteYes. Our church publishes our own tracts. It's great. We have 7 different opportunities for people to come together to not only pass out tracts, but do what we call "soul-winning". We actually ask people about going to Heaven and share the Gospel with them. We also run buses on the weekend to pick people up for church. It's great!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I had one lying around the house and my friends tricked me into thinking it was one hundred dollars
ReplyDeleteWe're in DC until Sunday. Are you Duggars planning on doing any more touring around the city? Someone said they saw you going into the Holocaust Museum today.
ReplyDeleteHi Patti!
ReplyDeleteIf Living Waters releases a video clip, we will definitely post it. The ministry did say that they are planning on creating a DVD of the Duggars' experience. We will post more details as soon as we get them.
Blessings,
Lily and Ellie
I actually find offense with these $100 tracts from Ray Comfort. My brother-in-law is over enthusiastic about these tracts -- leaving them everywhere, (which actually is littering), and I just don't get why people think these are so effective. First of all, aren't they tricking people into thinking they found money somewhere, only to realize it's "just a tract". I would think that would make them more offended then turning them on to the hope found in Jesus. And secondly, what's the deal with the focus on lust on these tracts? Why not just mention more universal "sins" such as lying, stealing, gossiping, cheating, etc., without focusing and giving many sentences to lusting after women. This makes the tracts not really applicable to women and young kids and does make me wonder if Ray Comfort has a personal issue with this. I'm all for spreading the Gospel and reaching people for Christ -- even sharing tracts with them (that are well written), I just find these $100 bill tracts offensive.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @ 10:07pm....I know some people don't like others leaving witnessing tracts. I just wanna leave a tidbit on how "one of those tracts" changed my families life...
ReplyDeleteWe were having a bad family time...we tried everything within our family to solve a problem...one day at work I finally told myself, "This is in God's hands.." I went to check on the laundry and saw a tract....It had a little reminder that the church was starting a new ministry and the ministry was meeting for the 1st time to the public everyone invited. I kid you not it was the same exact ministry our family needed. I don't like going into details because of the privacy of my family....but you just never know who is gonna get saved and come to Christ and who needs help but has hit a brick
wall!
P.S. I still have that tract.
Really glad for the Duggars!
Hi there Duggar Family!
ReplyDeleteWhat an inspiration you all are!
Our church hit the streets every Saturday for a couple of hours & hand out tracts & share the gospel!
Today I had the opportunity to pray for a man to get filled with the Holy Ghost!I just love telling others about Jesus!

Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine that anyone is tricked by a $100 bill that's as big as your head or by the life-size million and trillion $ bills. There's no such thing as a million dollar bill and obviously not a trillion dollar bill.
Lust is mentioned on all the tracts, b/c it's something most everyone justifies, rather than viewing as sin. But the 7th commandment is about the sin of adultery and Jesus went a step further and said "If you look at a woman with lust, you commit adultery in your heart".
Why are some sins more acceptable to include in the gospel than others to you?
Well, I've also not had too successful a time related to tracts. Several times I've been handed one and then told that I'm going to hell. I found that offensive since the people didn't know me or my relationship with Christ.
ReplyDeleteLike Anonymous I also haven't found one, either given to me or that I have picked up, that has been more than eye-catching or clever. The message parts haven't been helpful for me, but I'm glad that others have had positive experiences related to them.
I think this is what turns some off from religion. The intentions are good but not the method. And what is meant by 'bad theology' books? How convenient TMZ was there. Someone had to call them. Some may disagree with me but I feel the Duggars have gotten away from their original motives for doing the show. If not for money, I think they enjoy the attention.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how you can ascertain the intentions of the Duggar's heart or their motives behind doing the show. Only God knows the motives of even our very own hearts and those are the ones we ought to be concerned with. I imagine the Duggars do the show with multiple motives and we should allow God to be the judge concerning them. My opinion about passing gospel tracts is that we should be sharing the gospel with every means and opportunity that God provides us with. Sharing the gospel and living the gospel should be our primary concerns in this life. Sometimes our brief encounters with lost people don't allow for us to know them well enough to speak into their lives but a tract is impersonal enough to overcome this barrier. Also, offense is not necessarily a good guage to determine the effectiveness of an instrument. The gospel has always offenses and will continue to offend no matter what means we use to share it. Those are my thoughts for what they're worth.
ReplyDeletebad theology books = books with theology not consistent with the Bible.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous I'm with you on the $100 tract. I would be annoyed to be handed that, if I were a non-Christian.
