Jill and Derick Welcome 3rd Son

Jill and Derick Dillard have announced the arrival of their third son! He came earlier than expected, but both he and Jill are doing well. The name and photo are on the Dillards' website.

  1. Good news. I heard his name is Frederick.

  2. Glad they are both doing well. I love how they incorporated his father and grandfather’s names in.

  3. Dark hair...so sweet🙂 Is he in the NICU? He was only a couple weeks early, much small than her older boys. Old fashioned name Frederick Michael...they referred to him as Freddie.

  4. Congratulations! So happy for your beautiful family to have a new addition. God bless you. 🙂

  5. At least they have the bigger house now and don't have to stack kids up like Jessa did.

    1. Stop trying to start stuff. There was nothing wrong with what Jessa did and in fact they remodel and are about to move in a new home. Sometimes you outgrow it. I grew up sharing one room with 2 other sisters. In this day and age with the increase prices, people are gonna have to downsize homes and with your attitude you will never make it. You need to be more realistic and prepare yourself.

      Delete
    2. Jessa obviously knew from her own childhood household that it's not a good idea to put boys and girls in the same bedroom. So I'm glad she moved out of that little house. It was about to become as crowded as the first Duggar house. You can't keep adding kids to a 2 br house. That's called being more realistic, 9:14.

      Delete
    3. I agree @9:14PM. I don't look down on Jessa for that. People should stop trying to pit the sisters against each other. This should be about Jill's good news not trying to take digs at Jessa. Anyway, congrats Jill.

    4. @9:14 I don't follow you. If you have a house and house prices are rising, then your house is also rising in value along with all the others. So why would you have to downsize? If you have to sell your house, you'll make that much more profit to spend on a new place. You should be able to get something the same size as what you had. Sell your house for $400,000, buy a $400,000 house the same size in the same market. If you relocate to another part of the country where house prices are lower than where you're moving from (moving to Oklahoma from California, for instance), then you'll really be in good shape and can get a bigger house than what you had.

    5. @9:14 Jessa should never have started putting Ivy in with the boys, especially after all that talk by her parents about household safety rules.

      Delete
    6. @2:31 pm - Are you implying that a 6- and a 5-year old boys would harm their 3-year old sister? Like, seriously, it's just ridiculous. They are all just kids.

      Delete
    7. @3:06 Michelle would never put a 6 and 5 yr. old boy in a bedroom with a 3 yr. old girl.

      Delete
    8. Wait a minute.... how did you all know that Jessa puts her daughters and sons in one room?

      Delete
    9. @6:52 Jessa said so and showed so. They had 2 bedrooms. Parents and newborn in one. All other kids in the other.

      Delete
    10. Jessa didn't do anything wrong. The kids was very young and obviously they are getting older so that's why they got a new house. Jessa also said she isn't going to raise her kids exactly like her parents. You guys are missing episodes.

      Delete
    11. These people on here are off the walls. Ya'll wouldn't like how I had to grew up. I had to share one room with a bunch of siblings. Jessa's kids are fine. They had it better than I did. Either you guys are trying to find something to pick at or bragging that you had your own room growing up just like these "I got a college degree and the Duggar's should have one too" people. Ya'll fake and wouldn't be acting like this in front of them in real life.

      Delete
    12. @7:19 I would certainly say my thoughts out loud to any Duggar if I encountered them in real life. My opinions are the same, whether I'm writing them or speaking them.

      Delete
    13. @10:56 I took the OP to mean that with the general high cost of living, more people will be looking to downsize in order to have lower house payments or pay cash for something smaller.

      Delete
    14. @July 21st: 6:52pm: My guess is that these posters are getting their information from the videos on Jessa's Youtube channel.

  6. Congratulations Jill & Derick. I love his name!!

  7. Yay! Congrats to the Dillards! Hoping for videos from them. A 3rd C-section; that brings out questions, but I know there's countries where, if a C-section is needed, the woman gets a tubal because they consider repeat C-sections and V-Bacs too dangerous. So, they're extra blessed.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @7:23 I had 3 c-sections and still kicking some 27 yrs later, I'm 62, so do the math. Jill will be just fine. And yes, there were medical reasons, and all is well.

      Delete
    2. She has problems delivering vaginally and her babies have both been breach in her past 2 pregnancies. I remember Israel's birth story on 19 Kids and Counting but sadly I didn't get to watch Samuel's on Counting On because our family stopped watching the Duggar's after the events happened cancelling the old show.

      Delete
    3. It really depends on the reasoning behind the c-section and other factors. Some women can go on to still have more babies. That's between Derick, Jill and her doctor.

      Delete
    4. I’ve had five c-sections. She’s fine to have as many as she wants.

      Delete
    5. 4:50, everyone is different. 5 c-sections may not be fine for her. Unless you are her doctor it’s not up to you to declare that an unlimited amount of sections is just fine. There is a very real risk of uterine rupture after several sections.

      Delete
    6. When anyone has repeat abdominal surgeries scar tissue grows. Scar tissue is stiff and u yielding and can make future pregnancies very uncomfortable....I believe the recommended number is no more than three.

      Delete
    7. It depends on the woman. It's Jill's body, her choice :)

      Delete
  8. I know the name; but why do they add their long, creative reason of the name??? It seems the Duggars choose names and then maybe make-up the definition of the name. Wishing them the best.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's their blog and they can write whatever they want. It seems like you're making up a theory about what they wrote instead of believing why they chose that name.

      Delete
    2. I thought exactly the same thing... Beautiful baby!

      Delete
    3. Same here. Hope Frederick will get the chance to meet all his mom's family and the Duggar's can put aside their feud to celebrate this new grandson and nephew.

      Delete
    4. I read the name as a beautiful way of keeping a family naming tradition going. There's nothing made-up about it. It's a fact there is a Rick Dillard who didn't want to name his son "Junior" and came up with Derrick. Derrick Dillard wanted to name his son for himself and his father. He came up with Frederick. Those are FACTS.

      Delete
    5. It’s not the name; it’s their created meaning of the name.

      Delete
    6. I think I read Derricks fathers given name was Richard, not Rick (nick-name).

      Delete
    7. Alberta Rose - he is actually Derick (one "r"). So, really "de Rick" and all. Just "Fre" I think means in German "free", so would not it be then "free of Derick"? :) Whatever they want to name him, it's their baby. They were saying they could not come up with a name for sometime, so it's great that they picked the name and happy with it. The first two kids have "-el" in their names, so I was thinking maybe they'll continue with this, having like a Gabriel or Nathaniel... but again, it's their kid.

      Delete
    8. 6:52 Actually I noticed that, too, about ending in "el". Guess what. All the boys have a name ending in "el". Israel and Samuel have first names ending in "el". Frederick has a middle name ending in "el", Michael, the same middle name as his father, Derick. Jill and Derick did not mention it. Perhaps they did not even realize it.

      Delete
    9. All this about the name of a wee baby. He is their son, they get to name him and if they need a reason to pick that name ...that's also their decision. Celebrate the baby and leave it alone.

      Delete
    10. July 16, 6:52 the German word for "free" is "frei" not "fre"

      Delete
    11. Free in German means "frei". Fre isn't a German word. Don't interpret on things you create in your head. Smh.

      Delete
    12. I loved the explanation of the name! Rick to Derick to Frederick. Makes total sense -- really cute the way they did that.

  12. Congratulations to Jill,Derick, Israel and Samuel on the birth of Frederick Michael Dillard! Hope and pray that he is ok because by the looks of the picture on their blog,he must of had to receive some extra attention in the NICU with his breathing because he was wearing oxygen and wires. Can't wait for the full story on his birth whether on their blog or on their YouTube channel.

  13. Awe the name Is nice and great meaning behind it. He looks like his big brothers did when they were little... Birthday is day before Sam's and ON Uncle James.

  15. So precious! With that oxygen and mouth tube though, I hope he's ok? Healthy babies don't usually have those.

    1. I was wondering that myself. They did say that both he and Jill were doing well so maybe it’s just typical with a c-section?

      Delete
    2. Maybe because his lungs weren't fully developed because of being early?

      Delete
    3. Healthy babies do when they are born early lol.

      Delete
    4. Yeah. That seems a bit odd to me too. Maybe they'll explain it later on.

      Delete
    5. The baby was due at the end of July, they said, and born on the 7th, so he is like 3 weeks premature. Most probably lungs are not fully developed yet. But then, just 3 weeks is nothing, he should be breathing on his own, especially with this weight, over 7 lbs.

      Delete
    6. He is healthy but came 3 weeks early. That happens sometimes. I had a baby at 35 weeks and my baby had to be in the NICU for 1 week.

    7. It’s not even the need of July yet.

I'm sure the people who posted right after Sam was born saying Jill had a hysterectomy and how upsetting that must have been for her ( and you all know who you are) are feeling rather foolish now. And if anyone thinks I'm making this up, check the posts from several years ago after Sam was born.

    1. Oh, my goodness. I'd forgotten about that ridiculous rumor-spreading. You're right!

      Delete
    2. I actually remember that rumor, it was so stupid! Though her first picture with Sam were quite sad looking, maybe she was tired or just sad that Sam was in NICU for some reason (that still was not explained).

      Delete
    3. I remember that. I felt like I was reading a tabloid with all the ridiculous comments that were made. I'm so glad all the spreaders of false information were wrong. I am waiting to see what outlandish comments are going to be made this time. I will pour a cup of coffee and read. 😆

    4. Reminds me of all the false information spread that the 2020 election was fraudulent.

    5. If Jill wouldn't had put out there sad sad comments, pictures and biblical scriptures without any explanation people wouldn't had thought the worse.

      Delete
    6. Which goes to show you not to believe every rumor you hear especially about the Duggars. They be debunk time and time again. Wait for them to come out with a interview / statement. That's what a lot of people have learned the past 10 years.

      Delete
    7. Well, Jill did rather feed that speculation with the stuff she posted after Sam's birth. Never did understand why she did that.

    8. 4:19 PM - That was 2 years ago. Get over it. Both parties have done a horrible job.

  20. Hope her younger siblings are taking notes…all adults should be financially independent from their parents.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's not the siblings who need to take notes. It's the parents. If you don't encourage your kids to get higher education and well-paying careers of their own, they're always going to have to turn to you for some sort of help (job, house, childcare, etc.). I think it's a way parents control their adult children, which isn't right.

      Delete
    2. Perhaps in your social circle. In some social circles multi-generational living is the norm, not the exception. As someone who may have financially independent at 19 but was definitely not emotionally prepared, I had a very confusing seven years before finally meeting someone who didn't take advantage of me. I envy Christian young adults who are able to live at home with their parents.

      Delete
    3. We don't know their situations and Michelle has stated that once they are married, they are out on their own. But being part of a family business is completely different. People only get mad because they think they had the job handed to them. That's jealousy baby. There is nothing wrong with helping your children some but if you expect them to get a good education, you will have to help them along the way, right? A part time job is not going to help them get to a good college and get a great career. And pushing them into something they might not want to do can lead to trouble down the road. I seen it first hand. So be careful parenting that way. You may end up losing kids.

      Delete
    4. @2:26 PM - Are you going to help pay to make your children have a good education and college? What if you child doesn't want to do what you want to do? Clearly you are not a parent. You have a lot to learn lol.

      Delete
    5. @ 6:16 It's a parent's job to give their children good examples growing up. That includes showing them what it takes to support yourself as an adult, without family help. That also means paying for their education or helping them get loans or scholarships. Not everyone leaves college in debt you know. A young person can also sign up for the military and get trained and a college degree while getting paid. Society is not going to be able to function in the future without college-educated children. The world doesn't need more used car salesmen, it needs more people with training and education to fill skilled or degreed jobs.

      Delete
    6. @9:45AM Are you saying Jill's younger siblings should marry someone that has a college education and gets a job?

      Delete
    7. 10:36 AM - You mean the world doesn't need more people living their dreams? How sad. A good example is to let your child do the career they dream of doing even if that's not what you agree with. And maybe their career choice won't work out but you also have to teach your kids failure. You obviously are not a parent if you actually believe that. I think what's wrong with this world is parents are forcing their child to live out their own dreams through them. How selfish.

      Delete
    8. @6:16 Actually, I would think that the poster is a parent. Are you? Children who are brought up knowing that they are EXPECTED to obtain a college education usually do. The parents have impressed on their child the importance of an education and have been putting money aside to help their child when the time comes. These parents take their responsibility seriously. They also teach by example.

      Delete
    9. Well you can raise your kids however you want and be a great example but they have their own lives to live and their own dreams.

      Delete
    10. 6:58 Nobody is "forcing" children. You know as well as I do that there are plenty of "dream" jobs out there after you graduate from college or a training program. When you or your family members get sick, aren't you glad that there are a lot of people whose dream job was in the medical field? What if there was a generation who all decided, with their parents' blessing, that they didn't want to do anything like that, didn't want college, didn't want to do any training beyond a high school education? Where would society be? Doctors, nurses, dentists, teachers, pilots, veterinarians, lawyers, accountants, engineers, you name it, the list is endless - all require higher education and we ALL depend on those people being there to help us. Or do you want everyone to encourage their kids to flip hamburgers for the rest of their lives at their local dream fast food restaurant? Wouldn't help much if you got a toothache or your air conditioner broke or your dog got sick. Ask any little kid what they want to be when they grow up. The answer will not be "someone with no education." I don't know any parent, myself included, who pushed their child into a particular field. By high school, most kids knew what they were interested in studying in college and at least set out to do that.

      Delete
    11. Dear 6:58, how is it "selfish" for any parent to want their children to be able to support themselves with a well-paying job? Life is expensive, in case you haven't noticed. No parent wants their kid to learn that by being a "failure." You are obviously not a parent if you actually believe that.

      Delete
    12. 12:19 PM - It is when the parent is forcing them or even pressuring them to take a career path they don't want to do for money or for own personal reasons.

      Delete
    13. @6:58 Not a parent! Do not make me laugh. I am not only a parent but a grandparent ( in my 70s)! My children all went to university and grad school. They all are working at their dream jobs, professionals making comfortable incomes and very happy in their lives. They are contributing members of our society. We (my husband and myself) encouraged our children to pursue post-secondary educations. We made sure that they were able to pursue their dreams with our financial support, whatever those dreams were. It WAS their choice. Parental expectations and more important, the example parents set are very critical in a child pursuing post-secondary education.

      Delete
    14. @6:58 - does life always have to involve career and training? Have you ever thought that Jill Duggar for years now is a stay-at-home mother and that seems to be her dream? She married a man who pursues education and career to support his family, while she lives in support of this man and their children.

    3. This is why people don’t want to show their children online, because of strangers demanding to see their kids.

    4. We DON'T need updates on this family. If they don't want to share that's their choice.

    5. I am not 3:51, but my guess is that 3:51's comment was referring to two specific rumors. The first rumor is that Lauren & Josiah, have welcomed a second child to their family. The second rumor is that Kendra & Joe, have welcomed a fourth child to their family.

      Delete
    6. Who demanded to see their kids? Updates are not demands for photos. Updates mean update the lists.

    1. He was born early but that doesn't mean he is unhealthy.

      Delete
    2. My twins were born prematurely and perfectly healthy but they also required oxygen and feeding tubes. C section babies are not squeezed through the birth canal so their lungs may need a little extra help. Preemies can lack the coordination to suck, swallow and breathe at the same time so they get a feeding tube for nutrition. Mine started on a bottle after one day but it took over 2 weeks before they were able to take all feeds by mouth.

      Delete
    3. 2:52 "healthy" means "no need for medical intervention".

      Delete
    4. Huh okay, that's interesting. I am an identical twin, my sis and I were born via c-section 2 weeks early, we were 6 pounds a piece, and we didn't need oxygen or a feeding tube. Was concerned for Frederick as 7 pounds is a whole pound more then we were. Perhaps I'm just paranoid what with so many babies being born ill or stillborn lately around the country.

      Delete
    5. When the baby is a few weeks early, the lungs did not have time to develop. That's why usually they need help. In some cases they don't or for at least not very long. I think you should pick up a book and properly educate yourself. It does not mean the baby is unhealthy.

      Delete
    6. @7:07 Having lungs that are not fully developed is an "unhealthy" condition. My education taught me this.

      Delete
    7. 11:24 AM - Depending on the circumstances and what's causing it. In Jill's case being a few weeks off, it doesn't mean the baby is unhealthy. What is unhealthy is conditions like what happened with Josie.

      Delete
    8. 11:24, not being fully developed doesn't mean unhealthy. It means TIME is required.

  30. Jill must enjoy this baby very much. After she had her first son in 2015, the Josh's story came up, Jill had to give interviews, and eventually the couple just left on a mission, to avoid all that scandal. Then in 2017, Sam was born, then a conflict between Derick and the family arose. Then Derick was not working for a year, then went back to school, no money. Now seems like Dillard's life stabilized - Derick finished school, got a job. They were able to sell their house for $100K more than they bought it, moved into a bigger house. And now the baby came when everything is good and stable. No conflicts, no money issues.
