    2. Truett is one of the trendier names in the Tru- family (True, Truman etc), which was used for 92 boys in the US last year. Truett is deeply associated with the Baptist church in the Southern USA due to former leader George Truett.

    5. Wow....judge much? I think it's polite not to give your opinion on a baby name you don't care for. I've learned through the years that kids end up being called nick names....I saw they referred to him as True.

    6. You can actually do a google search for any name if you are really curious about it. Baby name sites will give you the meaning and the rank of that name of all the baby names used in certain years.

    1. A TV show is not something that's good for anyone, especially when non-consenting minor children are involved.

    2. @11:19AM: I agree with you. Katey seems to have a fun-loving personality, and it is a shame that fans of Counting On will not have an opportunity to get to know her better.

  10. I just found the video and I'm watching it as I type this. Congratulations Jed and Katy on the birth of your son.😃❤️👶🏼 Absolutely love the unique name you both picked. Now I know she opted for a hospital birth rather than a home birth like most of the Duggar ladies and to be induced rather than naturally go into labor .

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. She was induced on her due date most likely because the baby was getting pretty large. Glad she put safety first.

      Delete
    2. Me too. Part 2 was put on today. Going to watch it tomorrow.

      Delete
    3. Congratulations! Such a cute baby. So glad she went to the hospital and used common sense. Nothing against home births, for some people they're great. I think the Duggars did home births just for the ratings.

      Delete
    4. 3:00 PM - Going over due doesn't always mean something is wrong though. These days they take the babies to early.

      Delete
    5. @3pm- 8lbs is not large, and they would have had no way of knowing how big the baby was before birth. Ultrasounds do not accurately measure weight, nor is there any other way to accurately measure weight. Inducing for size would be a medically baseless thing to do, and, in fact, the induction itself would be riskier.

      Delete
    6. I'm glad to see a Duggar lady trust modern medicine when it comes to giving birth, especially for the first time. Usually mother's do not choose to get induced, doctors do. Congratulations to you both!

      Delete
    7. @11:00 Perhaps she had other issues which the doctor felt made birth necessary...they did not disclose the reason she was induced....usually there must be a medical reason before 41 weeks.

      Delete
    8. 2:32 AM - Some women like the natural way and not using epidural. It's not always a trust issue, it's that they want to feel it. Personally I would not want to do it that way but that's me.

    1. A lot of parents do this. I hope you do this to everyone else.

      Delete
    2. Anon 6:15. If a lot of people do it, that makes it good/healthy/normal? There is plenty of time for social media. Enjoy those newborn moments instead of staring at your phone.

      Delete
    3. Only one person can hold the baby at a time. Most families have distant family members and social media gives them a chance to share the news and of course pictures.

      Delete
    4. 10:59 AM - Be sure to remind your family and friends that do this on FB :)

  16. Congratulations on your beautiful son. I lifeguarded for several years when I was young and one of our regular swimmers was a little boy named Truist. His mother named him that because she said she always wanted him to tell the truth-to walk in truth. He was kind, inclusive and a great helper. I remember him well and I knew many many kids. May this baby bring you much joy. Praying for your health and happiness as a family.

  19. So excited for Jed and Katey to welcome little Truett. I’m thinking the baby is named after
    Truett Cathy, the founder of
    Chick-fil-A!

  23. He pinched her on the cheek, said she was "all about the food," and told her she was wearing a tarp? Wow.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Really? Then I won't waste my time on the video.

      Delete
    2. He only made the tarp comment because her hospital gown was about 3 times to big. About the food comment, Katey was told nothing to eat after midnight, she was hungry and didn't know how long her labor would last. I would want to be "all about the food" too if there was a possibility I could be in labor for hours and hours with nothing to eat. She needed to eat to keep her energy up. I wish people would stop making mountains out of mole hills.

      Delete
    3. The first gown they put her in was much too large...the tarp comment was not about her size. Every couple has things they tease each other about, I highly doubt that Jed would be hurtful towards his wife intentionally. He was a fabulous birth coach...very encouraging.

    1. Apparently the founder of Chik-Fil-A was a Truett

      Delete
    2. 2:06 PM - It's from Katey's family. I don't know where people are getting this accusation from.

      Delete
    3. 6:09, the founder of Chik-Fil-A was actually named Truett. Therefore, it’s not an accusation.

      Delete
    4. 2:30 PM - I highly doubt they named him after a restaurant founder.

      Delete
    5. 2:53, I didn’t say they did. Just responding to the 6:09 post in response to 2:06 post mentioning that the founder of Chik-Fil-A is named Truett. 2:06 never claimed they named the baby after him as 6:09 seems to be implying they said.

  31. Truett is such a cool name. I can't believe some of the people on here. I love to know what their mothers named them so I can pick at it in some way to make myself feel superior. I loved they picked a wonderful name from Katey's family.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Congratulations to the new parents. Good healthy size baby too! I love the name. I hope Katey is doing well and is taking proper care of herself. Where I am from we have a 2 month confinement period after giving birth with the help of a nanny. I always worry about the new mothers these days.

    ReplyDelete
  33. To those asking about the name... I would bet the baby is named after Southern Baptist preacher George W Truett. Baylor University's theological seminary is named after him as well.

He'll fit right in with cousins Spurgeon and Henry Wilberforce - also named after preachers.

    Replies
    1. I’m pretty sure it’s also a family name on Katey’s side of the family, so I would assume that’s where they got the name lol

  36. The baby is adorable, but what an unusual choice of a name! Can be compatible with a cousin of his Spurgeon :). Though founder of Chik-Fil-A was a Truett, so I quess there is a name like this.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Lol, it’s definitely a more common name than Spurgeon and sounds very nice. I think it works well at all ages too, unlike how some names sound more so for solely a baby or adult lol

  37. Congratulations! When will the new baby be added to the header?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Not the blog owners, but changing the header is always a major project given the number of people involved in this size family and trying to get current pictures of them all. Given that the blog owners also have families of their own and other obligations, it may be a bit. I'd also guess they're going to wait to make any header changes, given that Abbie just announced and Jill is due pretty soon (and there is likely other family news in the works as well with this size family). ;)

  39. The name Truett is primarily a gender-neutral name of English origin that means Dry Resinous Wood And River Bend.

Truett is originally an English surname.

  43. It think it's a nice name, I personally wouldn't use it for my kids but not my kid so not my choice. It's uncommon so he won't meet many with that name but I've never meet anyone else who has my name and I like it. Congratulations to the new momma and dad.

    1. @9:22 I saw that also. Doesn't the state of Arkansas test homeschool kids at the end of the school year to see if they're learning what they should be learning? Here in Pennsylvania they do. Maybe Truett can teach him he learns how to tell time. Congratulations!!! Also, glad to see a hospital birth.

      Delete
    2. I also noticed that.

    3. Not a lot of people do these days. Everything is digital. Just like they use tablets in school and barely do writing.

    4. @ 9:22 Maybe Truett can teach him, when he starts 1st grade.

    5. We're in sad shape if kids can't tell time on a clock or write their names. Whose fault is that? The kids or the teachers (parents)?

      Delete
    6. Several years ago I read that British schools were going to stop teaching how to read an analog clock.

    7. @2:51 my 10 year old grandson can tell time on any Clock,he learned in school.

  45. Congratulations Jedidiah and Katey Duggar on your beautiful precious baby Truett Oliver. I am very glad he is healthy. I prayed for a happy and healthy baby. In other words my dad and I really are missing the Duggars and extended family members. Also missing the Bates and extended family members. We really would like for there to be spinoffs of both shows. We are hoping and praying for sometime soon. Natasha b

    1. Both the Duggars and the Bates families deserve to have their privacy so they can deal with these issues in privacy, so they can all finally heal.
It's been a great long run, and none of them owe us to be on TV for longer than they desire to, especially at the expense of their well-beings.
Just follow them all on YouTube and let's all move on to a new chapter of Duggars and the Bates families!
