Raw Footage of the Duggar Grandchildren

Meredith Duggar, Spurgeon Seewald, Gideon Forsyth, Henry Seewald

Are you missing the Duggars, now that the show is on break? If you are, Jana Duggar just shared a 15-minute video of raw footage that you can take a look at. A handful of the Duggar grandchildren are at the big house playing together, and Jana follows them around with a camera to catch some unedited moments (link below).

    6. Man, do y'all only do one thing? She can start a home decor company, have a greenhouse, and spend time with her nieces and nephews. Leave that woman alone.

    7. You all do alot of assuming it's ridiculous

      Delete
    8. You don't have to do any assuming. The Duggars show you themselves with their pictures and videos.

    9. Totally agree with you, 8:25. I think they're getting more and more trolls on this blog, and it's sad. I wouldn't expect people to agree with the Duggars 24-7, but a lot of them on here seem to enjoy thinking the worst of them. I'm sorry we can't put their lives under a microscope and weigh in with our assumptions.

    10. 4:03, what the people are assuming in this comment is all about Jana and has nothing to do with the video.

      Delete
    11. 8:11 Just because some people are not enamored with the Duggars does not mean they are "trolls". Try thinking about what they are saying and maybe you will realize that the Duggars are not quite the image they project. The Duggars don't mind the criticism because it is ATTENTION and that is what they need to keep going and keep the money coming in.

    12. "Troll" is name-calling and it should be banned. Calling someone a troll makes you no better than the person you're complaining about.

      Delete
    13. 3:19, true trolling is ugly behavior, which is why it gets the name troll. People who get their kicks out of stirring up trouble by purposely posting mean, inflammatory comments.

  2. I watched this video and they all seem like sweet children and it's nice they can spend time together. It was some indoor playground! I wonder if Jana is enlisted as a frequent baby sitter. Something I noticed that would drive be nuts is they handed out food and drinks without the benefit of having them sit down at a table. The kids were just walking around with dry cereal and burritos. There was food all over the floor.

    1. 4:49, I noticed that too about walking around. Plus no hand washing first. My mother's rule when I was growing up, and I hope every other mother's rule too, was that you washed your hands before eating. That's really important right now. Those kids were mingling and touching everything, and then handled and ate food with bare hands.

      Delete
    2. 4:49 and 9:15 Yes, there was food all over the floor. Did they wash their hands after they ate as well? I think it was Henry who went back and forth of the front door and put his hands on the blinds. Everything needs to be wiped off as well. All kids are going to make messes. But I think there needs to be some boundaries. If they could concentrate the eating around the table as much as possible, and wash hands before and after eating, it would make clean-up a lot easier, in addition to establishing good sanitary habits. It is going to take more time than the baby-sitting to clean-up. It probably isn't a good Idea for 5 year-olds to be sitting with their dirty feet on the kitchen counter. With that many grandkids 5 and under together at the same time, Michelle or some other adult needs to be there in addition to Jana. How does Jana assign jurisdictions to the the grandkids? Having said all that, it did look like they were having fun. Jordyn seems to be taking an interest in the piano.

    1. Houses where kids live are often very dirty. If one cleans it, just minutes later it looks just as bad as it did before. I have seven children and I clean or care for the children 15 hours a day and my house almost always looks messy/dirty unless I cleaned in that
particular area within the last 10 minutes. I am always impressed the Duggar house isn't worse than it is.

      Delete
    2. My entire house could be falling apart but my floors are always clean. I guess everyone has their "thing" and floors are mine. Why don't they all sit at the table together to eat? The child eating on the dirty floor mat just about did me in!

    3. This is rich. I'm on lunch break from my regular Friday deep cleaning of the house, and I saw this video. Now I don't feel so bad about the spots and dust I'm finding! What does Michelle do all day? Not clean, I guess. I spend the first hour or two after breakfast every day picking up, wiping, emptying the dishwasher, emptying trash, making beds, vacuuming, starting laundry, and generally getting the house in shape for the day. Friday is "maid day" (you're looking at the maid). I'm a homemaker and this is my job! I can't imagine letting the house get to the point that Michelle's house is in. Your house is your biggest investment and you need to show it respect by taking care of it. There are certainly enough people other than Michelle in that house who could get to work making the place clean. Ugh, I could not walk on those dirty floors with bare feet let alone let kids run around and eat sitting on the floor!

      Delete
    4. A house allowed to get in that condition is a sign of unhappiness and depression.

      Delete
    5. I could imagine that she is simply overwhelmed. The oldest children have all already moved out, the house is huge ... and we all know that 11 year olds cannot be expected to clean like an adult. That is not their job either. Help, yes, but Michelle remains responsible. That's why she is at home and that's why she is praised by everyone ;-)

      Delete
    6. You are all right, dirty house... ok now let’s look closely at all of us and judge each other for all of our shortcomings. I feel sooo good after a good session of pointing out the flaws of others. How about you?

      Delete
    7. A house in that condition is a sign of having lots of kids around. At our house we usually take bets at how long the kitchen floor will go without a spill after it has been mopped. Usually not long, and we only have 4 kids!

      Delete
    8. 9:44 You just pointed out the flaws of others there.

      Delete
    9. 9:46, I agree. The kitchen floor can look upswept 10 minutes after sweeping it!

      Delete
    10. @12:29 Then you sweep it again right away! I can clean and then feed the pets and have to clean again. I don't leave the mess there untouched.

      Delete
    11. No, I can't sweep it again right away if I'm off to my next chore and don't know someone has been in the kitchen while I'm in the laundry room or anywhere else in the house. If it were just me and pets, then sure. That would happen as you say.

I’m not really interested in whether they drink booze or homeschool, but the way they’ve handled themselves publicly is disappointing. It’s okay with me if they want to make changes as they age but don’t forget why people are interested in the first place and please be respectful

  13. Someone needs to clean that house! Toys and clutter are one thing but food and debris all over the floor? Where you walk with bare feet? Nasty, and an open invitation for bugs. Where is Michelle? Why isn't she doing the housework? Why aren't the all the kids pitching in? Their front door doesn't fit right either. You can see daylight between the doors. Where are all those family remodelers to fix it? Where is Jana "encouraging" them to get work done? I don't think anyone at the house cares, by the looks of it.

    1. They don't live in a museum, it's a home where kids play and make a mess like kids should do. I'm sure everything gets cleaned up afterwards and it's nice to see kids allowed to be kids. Having crumbs and tidbits of food fall to the floor would be the least of my concern. I would be happy seeing children having the time of their lives not worrying about children making some mess in a huge play room.

      Delete

    7. First of all, the children were adorable and I loved the way they played together. However, if you were babysitting my children and there was food multiple places on the floor (small enough for a toddler to choke on), toys and small toy parts everywhere (tripping, choking, cutting bare feet hazards), and letting my children eat on an entryway floor (or the countertops-when there are plenty of chairs at the table), you wouldn't be watching my children (family member or paid sitter). Some of the children are in the potty training stage-nobody needs that on their countertops. I also don't want you teaching or allowing my young children to walk around while they're eating (choking hazard because children get easily distracted). Doesn't anyone read those books your pediatrician gives you when you have a baby about safety hazards???

      Delete
    8. The Duggars don't need pediatrician books. They are the experts because they had so many kids, remember? You can feed your toothless baby pickles, prop their car seat on top of a stroller, let them put their tongue on a floor fan, let them climb on the kitchen counters, and let them eat food on the run.

      Delete
  14. That was nice of Jana to babysit for Joy, Anna and Jessa. It's probably only the millionth time she has babysat. Also I was impressed that Tyler made cheese burritos for all the kiddos. The clip of Michael and Josie cooking seemed out of place though and just randomly thrown in--who were they cooking for? I'm glad they are learning how to cook though.

    1. It’s sad that they always use paper plates when we know they have an industrial dishwasher that only takes a few minutes for a load.

      Delete
    2. 2:35: I don't think it's only about washing the dishes. First, it would be tons of dishes to even load into the machine - and then unload. But also, they started it in the times when there wwas no non-breakable dishes, so with kids it's always a possibility to have some dish/glass to get broken or chipped, and some kid getting cut or swallowing it all... Like, not safe.

      Delete
    3. @5:22 At what time in history were there no unbreakable dishes? We cleaned out my MIL's basement and came across her 1940's picnic basket complete with plastic plates. Tupperware dates back to the 40's too. Corelle is from the 70's. Plastic everything has been around since the 1930's. Lack of unbreakable dishes is not an excuse for the Duggars using paper and foam. Nor is having a lot of dishes to load and unload. There are lots of hands in that house to do the work that needs to be done.

      Delete
    4. Not to be rude, but we taught ours to take one thing at time and return it (exchange it) for another thing. It didn't hamper their creativity in the slightest and there was no overwhelming mess for the child to clean up when they were tired from playing (or for mom to clean up- LOL). Their friends did the same when they played at our house-not a big deal.

      Delete
    3. I'm continually amazed at how people seem to know they don't have Covid and can safely get together. These past few days should have proven differently. Everyone who went to the White House Rose Garden ceremony thought they were OK at the time...

      Delete
    4. 2:42: You are not taking into account the fact that people can be infectious, but are asymptomatic. You’re still taking a chance with your family members. If you go to work or school every day, the circle of potential exposure increases with each individual.

  19. Children deserve to live in private and not have their every move filmed for television, splashed across the public internet, and sold to tabloid magazines so their parents and grandparents can earn an easy buck. This isn’t cute; it’s exploitative. Parents have a responsibility to provide for their children, not the other way around.

    ReplyDelete

    1. They are not earning an easy buck with this footage,it was posted online to keep fans updated on the grandkids, lots of people post photos and videos on their social media and they don't get criticised, and they provide for their children with the salary their father brings home even if he is working for grandad,it's still a job, as for the reality show earnings nobody turns down easy money they can use for other things, would you turn down money you won at the lottery or betting machines,I think not.

    1. Great comment! Because of people behaving like the Duggars, rule-followers like us cannot see or hug friends or family. I have not hugged anyone in six months and do not know if I will ever see certain family members again, because they are elderly and may not be alive anymore when this is over. The longer people continue to break the rules, the longer we are all going to have to keep doing this.

      Delete
    2. So true @8:22. This is the first year ever I have not traveled to see family. Saw them last Christmas, and we've already decided we're not getting together this Christmas. We want to make it through this alive so we can be around to visit again in the future. Meanwhile, people think it's OK to travel, to go to bars, parties, rallies... They pay the price days later as the case numbers soar, making the rest of us have to hunker down harder. It's so irresponsible of some people.

  23. That was lunch? Melted cheese on a flour tortilla and dry cereal? That's as bad as the time Michelle served everyone plain noodles for lunch and claimed it was a good meal because "noodles have protein." No fruits, no vegetables, just a sip of kefir from a styrofoam cup and on your way.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. But that's been the case for years ... We really don't have to pretend that they are too poor for fresh vegetables and fruit. It always seems as if nobody wants to cook properly. It has to be fast, it has to be little work, a lot of convenience food and all of that on plastic plates, because it would be too strenuous to put it in the dishwasher ... A look at the favorite recipes shows that baking mixes and cans are the main ingredients. I will never understand

    2. Was it lunch? I thought it was just a little snack.

  25. I enjoyed watching this clip. I saw some crumbs on the floor and couldn’t help but laugh because I knew so many people would complain about the cleanliness but as a mother of 6 with another due next month I know all too well that crumbs on the floor is normal when you have little ones walking all over. I laughed when I read the comment about having all the toddlers sit at the table for a snack. It’s hard enough to keep one toddler at the table long enough to eat but when cousins are around they don’t have time for snack at the table.. they want to eat and play! This family is criticized so much over petty things. How is it that not a single person mentioned the dog mauling Bambi in the background? Lol! My dogs have been know to catch some wildlife in their youth, now they are just too old to care about a deer on our property.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I grew up in a large family and have kids of my own. No one was ever allowed to walk around with food, even the toddlers. The table was for eating. I guess you do what works for you. However, food dropped on the floor waiting for people to step in it is not my jam. As a mother, in order for me to maintain sanity, I need to have at least two things- clean hair and a clean floor, preferably at the same time.

      Delete
    2. That is only a matter of upbringing. I grew up with a lot of siblings myself, there were often numerous cousins and friends visiting, and we all managed to sit at the table while eating. There was no discussion at all, we all knew the rules, and for the youngest there were adults who made sure that it worked. It is so often emphasized how well brought up the Duggar children are (which I by no means deny) - but they definitely hardly have an eating culture (polystyrene plates ...).

      Delete
    3. I managed to get my kids to sit at the table. When they were young it wasn't for very long but they had to learn. It helped when we took them out to eat. It's dangerous to let them run around a restaurant.

      Delete
    4. Why would you let little kids eat and play at the same time? Not only does it make a mess with fallout on the floor and sticky fingers touching toys, but there's the potential for choking when kids are laughing and running around with food. My own kids always sat at a table while eating, regardless of whether or not we had other children visiting. It isn't that hard.

      Delete
    5. As an aunt to 6 nephews and their mother babysat for another mom as well, it is very possible to gently and patiently teach your toddlers to sit and stay at the table, but you've got to be committed to doing it and consistent. There's also a big difference between crumbs and quite a bit of food visibly strewn all over the living room and dining room floor with an adult and 3 other older children present who could be cleaning it up, let's be honest. I did notice the dog outside (and was tensely waiting for the children to notice the dog outside). It looked like a real deer; I was hoping it was a stuffed toy. ;)

      Delete
    6. Crumbs all over the floor is only normal if you let your kids run around with food. When my kids were toddlers, they understood that eating was done at the table, not during playtime. When they went to preschool and public school, this was also the standard. I was a primary teacher for many years before retirement. My students ate their snacks at their desks or tables, no exceptions.

      Delete
    7. I was not allowed to have a cup of anything outside of the kitchen. All liquids were consumed there. As a toddler, I had to sit on the floor in front of the refrigerator with my cup. I actually enjoyed doing it, and I remember resting my back on the cool metal of the fridge door. There was nothing as refreshing in the summer as a drink of cold water in an aluminum cup. Remember those?

      Delete
    8. Wait, the dog was shaking around a deer carcass? Ewwww

      Delete
    9. Yes, I remember the aluminum cups. For a treat, we would have a little bit of Kool-aid or pop. Only a little bit, no seconds.
There were no sippee-cups. Kids went straight from a bottle to a cup. I think that's why we had to eat and drink only in the kitchen.

    10. Well guys.. I’m the original poster and while I see everyone’s point of view I’d like to defend that when we are eating as a family (dinner during the week and all meals on the weekends) my children all sit at the table. When we go out to eat, they all sit very beautifully and we are commented very often on how well behaved our large family is in public. When we are home and the kids want snacks I am not at all strict about where they eat (to an extent of course, no eating in the bedrooms). I keep an eye on them and we clean up but I guess you could say I am a much more laidback mom. After the first 2 kids I’ve definitely eased up! We keep order in our home (you have to with so many kids 13 down to newborn), but when daddy is at work and the older kids are at school the little ones definitely get to be more relaxed with mommy! 😁👍

  27. Bless my dear beloved mother in law. Before she passed, she said that if she had known that the dust would continue to return, she would not have worried about it so much. I am sure that the home is kept relatively clean and find it so funny that this is what is noticed and not the happiness of the children.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It's nice to see the kids, but I hope it was not happening very often. The kids were running wild, and had no direction. Even Spurgeon said "It's silly" as to some other kid was doing. Total chaos, and in the end Tyler was making for them burritos and they were eating it anywhere they could, instead of just sitting down at the table... Like convenient of course that Jessa, Joy, Anna could just drop the kids at the "big house", but was it Jana watching them? How often?

    ReplyDelete

    1. That chaos is surprising, since Michelle was so proud of how she taught her children to sit down, stay on a blanket, and be quiet. Was it just talk?

    2. Michelle frightened her kids. But she did not learn them anything about the normal things, like cleaning and safety... So how on earth could her kids pass through those values? It's quite natural they can't do what they were not taught...

    5. So where was Michelle that day? Not teaching the grandkids to talk quietly, not jump off of things, and not run around while eating. Why does this generation get to run wild through the house?

    6. I don';t understand negative comments about Michelle. She bore 19 children, 98 of them are now married, 13 are official adults and the 14th is turning 18 just in a few weeks. She did her job, she created this family. Why her adult kids dump their kids in the main house - it is their responsibility, they probably count on younger siblings to take care of these kids.

    7. No one should regularly use your siblings as built in babysitters, nor should the siblings grow up being conditioned to be the babysitters.

  29. I think this video was like Jana's scream for help. It was 5 kind under 5 and then a few others who don't live there (Marcus, Michael) plus her younger sisters, the youngest is 10, who were all in her care at that point, and it seems to me it happens quite often. Who watches after five Anna's kids in general when she is busy with the 6th? The younger girls? When they do their own school then? I'm not critisizing Michelle, no. I'm thinking that maybe siblings could think of different way to care of their own kids than just dumping them on Jana.

    1. Agreed... I think Jana did this on purpose... Her only way to have a little bit influence on how people look at the Duggars... She wants them to see that the household is far from perfect.

  30. I love watching them interact in these videos, they seem a lot more relaxed than in the show. I loved the "superhero" jump.
Also, why are most comments on a video of children playing so negative?? The part of the house that was messy was the playroom. one thing I always liked about the Duggars was that they allow little kids to be rowdy and make a mess, we have only to see the old episodes of 19KAC to notice it. It's a huge blessing to grow up with adults that allow children to make messes when playing.

    1. I don't think anyone has a problem with the inevitable toy clutter. It's the walking around while eating and food on the floor that caught some attention. I also thought they could've made their play area safer by putting some padding on the tile floor around the slide, as well as the on the hard window ledge where they were jumping. It would put their infamous DIY skills to good use!

  32. Guys. For the love of Pete, it was obviously a fun, cousin party type of day. I’m sure it wasn’t the norm to be eating random snacks all over the house or throwing every single toy on the ground.

But even if it IS the norm, to be honest, I’d much rather those children be raised by people who were too busy loving them to clean every crumb, than by some nasty old bitties who spend their time making self-righteous judgment calls and complaining on Duggar blogs.

    3. @5:46 Correcting people? That's a stretch, considering most of what the critics have to say is obviously true.

    4. 5:46; Correcting people is being judgemental. It means you think you found flaws with what they said. It's your judgement of that.

    5. Well said October 2nd @4:59. I would rather see children playing happily than fussing over a mess. Which by the way, I'm sure they helped clean by having a race as to who can clean the fastest or singing a clean up song. And I guarantee if the children were playing and there wasn't not one mess someone would criticize them.

      Delete
    6. @Oct 8 8:31 Why does it have to be one or the other? Why can't you have children happily playing in a clean place? By that I mean no food pieces and dirt and clutter that's not part of what you're playing with all over the floor. This is further proof that what we see on TV with the Duggars is not their real life. If you have one way you appear on TV and another way you are in real life, something is not right.

  35. it's funny how everyone has a different take on this video. i had to rewatch it because i honestly missed seeing the food on the floor or a mess. what i saw was nearly 10 young children playing together and encouraging each other even though little marcus was having no part of it once he got up to jump lol. i saw how excited they were to see henry and spurgeon when they got there and i saw absolutely no one fighting over any toys or attention. jordyn was playing the piano, michael & josie were in the kitchen and tyler was kind enough to make the kids cheese burritos for lunch and jana encouraged them to thank him. if by lunch time, there was nothing on the floor and it was all cleaned up, i'd assume they either took naps early or never got the chance to play! let them play and be kids and dont worry about the floors or picking up until they're done playing or in bed

    1. I agree with you. When my children were younger I tried to keep the house clean and picked up and now I sometimes wish I hadn't worried about it so much and just enjoyed the moments because they grow up and those precious times are gone all too soon. The things that last are the values you instill and the memories you make together. I enjoyed seeing all the cousins playing together.

    2. Nostalgia is no reason to let your house and floors get to that point. Hand the kids brooms, get out the vacuum, put on some music, and make more memories together doing the chores.

    4. anon @ 11:11 - there is a woman sitting at the table at the 10:23 mark of this video that i'm pretty sure is michelle. since this video is obviously spliced together, you can only see her briefly

    5. I agree. I may be a little more uptight on certain things but they were enjoying themselves and that is what I noticed as well. I am not going to judge their upbringing on a little video of playgroup time with cousins. There is so much we don't know about this families day to day life but people think they have a complete picture from short videos. That's just not realistic. You can get a partial picture but you can't judge in total from clips like this. I know many people who let kids eat lunch or snacks away from a table. You may not like it but it's just they way many people do it. From what they have said in past I am sure that someone or several take turns sweeping.

  36. Instead of talking about a dirty house or a meal lacking good nutrition, we can talk about how Jill's picture on the front of the fridge has a paper plate over it. Watch the kefir drinking segment. Her picture is covered up!

    1. 10:34 Good catch! I imagine that they aren't allowed to show Jill or her family on their videos or TLC filming because the Dillards are not part of the Duggar family show any longer. Hopefully her picture is not covered up because she is "shunned".

  39. Ellie, I read all of your blogs and enjoy them very much. However, you say that you will not post any comments that are derogatory or insulting. Some of these comments about the state of the Duggar home are just that. I think you should reconsider what comments you post. Some go above "someone's opinion" to just plain rude. The Duggars are your friends, I think it's time to clean up some of the comments.

    1. If everything on this blog was nicey nice it would be very boring. After a few times of reading only sugar sweet things, Many readers would not be back. So, yes, actually, not-so-nice, and even rude comments keep things interesting.

    2. No, there should be no covering up of the truth or of truthful opinions. How you could watch that video and not see a messy house is beyond reason. Then if you're a fan, you know you've been told that the kids clean their assigned places in the house every day as part of the family teaching of discipline. You've seen the daily job chart and schedule. Of course those two things (messy house and job chart) would clash and of course it would cause comment. I don't know how you'd expect anyone to comment about that "sweetly." "Awww, look how precious all those crumbs are on the floor!" doesn't quite ring true.

    3. The only comments that really bother me are the ones complaining about the comments! The rest make for interesting reading.

    4. Rude is in the eye of the beholder. I don't know why some readers take the comments so personally. It's not about you, it's about a family who has chosen to be public. The easiest way to take care of this would be for the family to go private, but that's not going to happen.

  40. I don't know how I never noticed before that they have such a large, well-equipped playroom. I would have been so happy as a kid to have the slide and the trampoline. I was a little concerned, though, about the little ones running around with food while playing. It's a choking hazard and I find it gross to think of all those crumbs around the house.

  42. I'd like to respond to those who think letting kids run around and play with food is ok. In my experience, it's a whole lot less clean up work in the long run if you establish some hard and fast rules regarding eating and playtime, even for toddlers. It doesn't mean you have to be obsessive about having a prestine house at all times or not allowing some toy clutter. It also doesn't mean you hinder their fun or miss out on precious moments. It just means you have more precious moments to enjoy, because you're not having to clean up crumbs, spills, and other debris from the floor and sticky toys.
Like some other posters, I'm curious about the dog and what looks to be a deer carcass. I'm reminded of a tragic situation with one of our dogs years ago. He'd come across a deer carcass in the woods and feasted generously on it. He ended up getting bloat from it few hours later and died quickly before we could even get him to the vet. As a side note, if a dog is running down and killing deer, even on your own property, it would be a misdemeanor/fine in my state. I guess Arkansas must be lax in that department.

  45. It boggles my mind that some people here complain about the Duggars use of paper when when some here probably:
Use paper coffee filters instead of permanent ones
Paper towels instead of cloth towel
Disposable feminine products instead of washable pads.
    Kleenex instead of a hanky
Will probably be carving pumpkins that will end up in the landfill
    And the list goes on.

    ReplyDelete

    1. My coffee maker doesn't have with a permanent filter. It has a plastic basket you have to line. I use unbleached bamboo filters. I throw everything in the compost bin, filter and all.

My cats throw up and produce other stuff you'd never want to clean up with a cloth towel. For our health, I must use paper. Paper decomposes.

For years when first married I didn't have a washer so I had to pay $$ to do loads of laundry. Of course I used disposable feminine products.

Kleenex are safer than hankies, especially now. Kleenex made anti-viral tissues for a reason - hankies can transmit germs. Kleenex break down in landfills. Heck, they break down if you blow hard enough!

Pumpkins are bio-degradable and compost-able. We've always left ours out for the squirrels and other critters to eat. You can also take your pumpkins to a farm or a zoo for the animals there.

Sorry, not one of your examples makes it OK for a family the size of the Duggars to use nothing but paper plates and STYROFOAM cups. Styrofoam has been banned in the restaurant industry for good reason. It's the worst kind of servingware you can have! It never decomposes, it just breaks up into a million little globs of foam that can end up in the oceans. The ocean floor is now covered with a layer of plastic particles - I just heard that on the news. We've polluted this planet terribly and the Duggars are leading the way.

    2. The things you mention don't hold a candle to the amount of waste when a family as large as the Duggars is using paper/plastic dinnerware for every single meal. This is the same family that filmed how frugal they were by making their own laundry soap and their own mantra has been, "Buy used and save the difference." I think people are simply mindboggled by the contradictions that are so common coming from this family. My own kids are grown, but even when they were still at home, we always washed our dishes. Paper plates were for picnics.

      Delete
    3. Maybe it's because we envision the mountain of disposable dinnerware created with every meal by this enormous family. Somehow, the one or two paper coffee filters my small family uses each day and our pumpkins that end up as compost aren't an issue for me. And yes, we use cloth towels instead of paper and actually wash dishes.

      Delete
    4. There's no way the average family generates as much trash as the Duggars do, even if we used paper everything. The Duggars make so much trash that they have to have their own dumpster! I have one trash can. They have no excuse for not using real dishes and stop using those foam plates and cups. I've seen their stash of them in the pantry. It's been there since they first moved in and they keep replenishing it.

  48. If restaurants which serve hundreds of meals every day can use real dishes, utensils and drinking glasses, so can this family. They were GIVEN 2 of the very same industrial dish washers that these restaurants use. They wash and sterilize dishes etc, in less than 2 minutes. It boggles the mind at the unnecessary amount of paper products this family uses. There really is no excuse for it. They should respond to this.

  49. Just let the dog in the house after playtime and all the food mess will get cleaned up. That’s what our family did. Actually we tried to mostly let the kids play and eat on the front porch. The neighborhood dogs helped our dog clean up. Ha ha. I could write a book about easy ways to raise kids! They’re all grown now and employing some of our techniques.

    1. Sadly, the Duggars don't let their dogs or cats into the house. They have said so. What's the point of having pets if you treat them like part-time family members? I've never seen a heated or air-conditioned place for these outdoor pets to stay comfortable, so there's that too.
