Game Day

"I think Ben has a great personality for being a coach. He can be firm when he needs to, but he's also a super loving guy. And so, I think that he would be one to get out there and push the kids to be their best but also encourage them [and] not be a downer."
-Jessa Seewald

A few days ago, we shared a video showing footage of Ben Seewald's meeting with Arkansas HAWKS football coaches in preparation for an upcoming game. In the clip below, you'll watch Ben help the team out by assuming the role of assistant coach for the special teams unit.

    1. Yes, this is from last year. The videos show 2016 to be his first year, so this is 2017 for sure. Wonder why it was never shown during this past season on TV. And the H.A.W.K.S. website from this year does not show Ben as an assistant coach for 2018.

    2. Anon 10:20. There was no indication that Ben was ever a coach for the Hawks. I got the impression he was just there for the day with the film crew and was given the title of "assistant coach" for that day.

    3. Ben was given a paper with the players’ names on it so he knew who was on these specials teams. Even the boys were acting like he was a stranger. This was staged for the cameras. If Ben is serious about coaching sports that’s great; lots of young boys need positive male role models and he would excel at this but please don’t pretend for the show.

    4. Another one-time thing that TLC had to film.

    5. With such a large family and so much going on, I will never understand the reason behind all the staged footage. It seems to me like they are not as real on Count in On as they were on 19kac. They seem to have their guard way up. It is sad really. I miss 19kac so much. They were so raw and real about their faith and who they were. I sure miss that.

    6. Anon 3:03 I feel the same way you do about muse my the 19 kids show. I think the Duggar s are only doing the show now to have weddings and over the top honeymoons and huge gender reveal parties free by having TLC pay for all this expensive stuff by having it filmed. I don't think their hearts are in the show anymore and they seem extremely uncomfortable in front of the cameras. There was a purpose at one-time for Jim Bob and Michelle to do the show and they loved sharing their faith with everyone. That has all changed with this next generations and they are just doing it to make money and have vacations and special occasions paid for.

  2. I am a huge fan of Counting On. I have watch the Duggar's since they first began....So when will the new season begin???? Thank you for keeping us up to date.

    1. TLC has not announced the date yet, they also haven't announced dates for other shows on the channel. They believe they are about to change the schedules and timing again that the shows come on.

      Delete
    2. They haven't said yet, I am also waiting on a few more shows they haven't announced yet either :\

    3. I feel if they don't up the game on Counting On, it will be cancelled. I am sure they will get another season for John David's big wedding but who knows after that. All the staged parties are getting old. Time to just do special and check in from time to time. It is also not the same without the whole family. Another opt-in would be if they could find a new network. Seems like TLC has checked out and just throw material together in no order at all.

  3. As I am sure there will be comments made that won't count for anything, it's just people being a big bowl full of jelly but I want to congratulate Ben on what he's doing ^_^

    1. big bowl full of jelly?!?! What is that supposed to mean?

      Delete
    2. What's Ben doing?

      Delete
    3. Jelly means jealous. Why would people be jealous of Ben?

    4. Ben was mowing properties for Jim Bob, last anyone talked about "work." He was studying Bible stuff online at one point. Not sure what ever became of that.

I love watching videos of this family on YouTube. I just hate when people make mean comments on the YouTube videos about this family. It is good for Ben to coach a football team with a bunch of 9 or maybe 11 year old boys.

    1. I hate it when people make mean comments about a TV show, too. I've read comments like that from other people on other sites, too. Sometimes people post on more than one site, which is interesting.

    2. Where can I find current videos of the family on youtube? Do they have their own station?

    3. Someone please let me know how to find their youtube channel. I would love to watch newer clips of the family.

  5. Ben is going to be a great coach! He's very smart and can on a level with these kids. We need more leaders like them. The kids in this day and age are lost and need good guidance. It's not like it was when I was a kid. The world had problems but not this bad.

  6. Ben seems so nice, and good with kids.

  7. My Dad likes football a lot. I can't wait for my Dad to watch it on season 9 of counting on. I especially can't wait for season 9. I would like to have more then 14 episodes to watch on future seasons. I enjoy watching the show. Natasha B.

  8. Why do the Duggars attend all those college football games if they're clearly not even watching or understand what the game is?

    1. I think you got that mixed up with someone else on TLC? Maybe the Bates? The Duggars know all about football and played a few football games together on the show :)

      Delete
    2. Where do you get that?

      Delete
    3. That was my thought, too. Its fine if you aren't a football fan, but if you are going to wear the tshirts and go to the game, it is only natural to learn what a field goal is.

    4. The linked video on this post shows the girls saying they don’t understand football or know even the most basic details of the game.

  10. Ben is full of good intentions. I'm not sure qualified he is as a coach though. His playing experience seems to have been rather limited.

    1. Ben always seems to be on the outskirts of doing something great, but greatness hasn't come. Music/rap...programs with less fortunate children...ministering... When do you think he'll finally find what he wants to be as a grown-up and do it? I don't think taking care of rental property lawns is his life's calling.

    2. If you don't know Ben Seewald than you are not qualified to make that call. When it comes to anymore sports, coaches has to be put through several checks to even be put in that position or otherwise any serious of consequences will come back on the people who hired them in...

      Delete
    3. Oh yeah, I remember the rap thing! Yeah, I wish him to find his calling!

      Delete
    4. Oh no.. He should never ever ever rap again!! He need to find something permanent before they be popping out more babies!

    5. 11:21- There is nothing to indicate that Ben is coaching, other than this past one-time opportunity.

      Delete
    6. 11:21- Ben was volunteering. He may have had to go through a criminal background check, but there's nothing to indicate this venture is long-term. In fact, this was filmed quite awhile ago. It's odd that there would be no current updates as to his status as a coach with this organization. His name is not mentioned on their website.

  11. I agree. The seasons of Counting On are so short. There has to be lots more to cover. Actually, many of us love watching the day to day activities as well as significant events.

    1. The Duggars must approve of the content and coverage, or they wouldn't be doing this.

    2. Yes, I agree with Anon 2:42 PM

  12. Why does Joy Anna wear the same gray sweater & scarf during every interview?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's her favorite outfit.

      Delete
    2. I think they do every interview for the entire season on the same day! Sit Joy and Austin on the couch for one long question and answer session, maybe 2 hours, and done for the season

      Delete
    3. I guess comfort. She's not that into fashion.

      Delete
    4. I believe all of the cast wear the same outfit for the season's interviews, so the show's editors can piece together different interviews for whatever episode they like without there being inconsistencies in the outfits.

  13. Makes me sad to see these young boys playing a sport that causes serious mental issues later in life. I wonder if the Duggars are familiar with CTE and all the horrible things that it does to a person. I can’t imagine they would like “contributing” to the development of this horrible brain disease.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ben seems like a very nice person but Counting On is getting really really boring.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I rather see more of Ben's activities with the community than courtship, engagement, weddings and babies. I honestly missed the whole season of counting on because nothing interesting was ther to watch!! Same old...... Same old......with this clip we could see there are a lot more interesting things than what we've been seen on every season lately!!

Go Ben!!! You can probably save the show and make it more interesting to watch if TLC would only pay attention 😔

    1. I agree, they are a good couple. All of them are, which is amazing, because I think of how many not-so-good matches I went through before finally finding my husband! He was my 4th match-up, but we've been married for 32 years now. My sister was luckier, she found her husband second match-up and married 20 years! My brother found his wife first time (although he's divorced now), my SIL found her husband first try (but divorced now), and my other BIL found his wife on the second try (but divorced now). The Duggars have a good vetting process, they find their match first time and stay married. Their secret is that they put God first!

      Delete
    2. 1:15- What do you define as a "match-up"? Were these courtships or something else? I dated different guys prior to gettting married. Some were more serious than others. Every single one of them were learning experiences for me and I have no regrets. On the oher hand, high school friends of mine who married their first beau right out of high school are almost all divorced now and on their second or third spouse, forty years later. My husband and I have been married for thirty years. I wish the best for the second generation Duggars, but none of them have been married long enough to come to the conclusion that they will stay married for the long haul.

      Delete
    3. I am 1:15PM: I'm just referring to number of serious boyfriends/girlfriends before marriage. The Duggars, like I said, must have a good vetting process, because they marry the first person, and the marriage lasts. No divorce. Statistically, the rest of society doesn't have that kind of success

  17. "Stay focused and do the right things!" Maybe Ben should be a little more specific when talking to kids. He looked pretty green and clueless on that field.

    1. Yeah. Sort of makes you wonder how much Ben knows about football. I got the impression he only saw the kids the day he was being filmed with them

  18. Not commenting specifically on this article as we are quite a bit behind in the UK & counting on has just started again with joe & kendra's wedding special, but this weeks episode was focussing on Ben & jessa's 3rd wedding anniversary & it made me realise just how much I have come to admire this young couple, especially Ben & his wonderful rapport with his boys. I remember years ago when they first started courting & many people thought they weren't a great match (I too wasn't sure about how keen Jess's was on Ben) but I must be honest they are the most well matched young couple & many much older people could take a leaf out their book as to how to show respect & love to each other. What a very nice guy Ben seems to be & they make a lovely couple with 2 very lovely boys.

  19. I have to wonder if TLC orchestrated this whole thing in order to have something to film. It gave the HAWKS organization some free publicity and gave Ben an opportunity to put himself out there as a "coach" for the day. Kind of reminds me of his dabbling with rap music for a short time. I feel sorry for Ben in some ways. While he seems to be a loving dad, he doesn't appear to have much direction in his life as far as a career. I thought this was a priority for JimBob when he screens potential mates for his daughters, that they are able to provide for them.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Honestly I wouldn't find it objectionable if Ben were just honest and was like - I'm excited to bring awareness to this great organization and I'm happy to get to help out. Why pretend the show isn't a factor, and be misleading about what they do all the time? It's very dishonest and makes them look bad.

      Delete
    2. Jim Bob gave Ben a job (mowing, taking care of his properties) from the get-go, so I guess in Jim Bob's mind, that was enough. But it won't support a growing family forever.

      Delete
    3. @3:38very well stated!

  20. 11:10- every episode is scripted by TLC. I think Ben and Jessa would do well to move away, they have so much potential.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Agree! All of these young couples need to truly “leave and cleave” and make their own way in the world. They are very much still anchored to their parents, with the exception of Jinger and Jeremy, and you can see how Jinger has blossomed since moving away.

      Delete
    2. I agree. The Duggars are totally ruled by the TV show. I don't think it's good thing for any of them. I can understand why Derrick wanted to break away from it.

      Delete
    3. @10:34 Jinger is still very much bound by the family's fundamentalist lifestyle. Don't think she left, left it all behind, and never looked back.
