Photos: Duggars and Bates in the Bahamas

A couple weeks ago, we shared a video message that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar filmed with Gil and Kelly Bates while on vacation in the Bahamas. The trip was in celebration of the Bates' 30-year wedding anniversary, and the four friends were flown to the island by pilot John-David Duggar.

Jim Bob said that he was pleasantly surprised when Michelle wanted to go parasailing. Below are a couple photos.

  1. Aww, looks like they are having a good time! Both set of parents are good role models. It's cool that John David flew them there!

    2. I don't know where you got your weather info, 8:21. The coldest day in December in the Bahamas was 73 degrees. The rest of the time, it was in the 80's, even the week before Christmas.

    2. These people are always on vacations anymore but the one who actually needs a vacation is Anna. Good grief every picture of her she is either hanging off of Joshs arm or has a baby on her hip surrounded by little children. We are Mothers and wives too but we still get away to relax and enjoy ourselves. All the Duggar girls have been on vacations together enjoying themselves but why Anna has to always be surrounded by people and kids is beyond me. She lives the way the Duggars use to live before all the money came in. Girl give yourself a break, the rest of them sure have no problem giving themselves a break.

  9. I love both families and hate that some people want to make comments and throw stones especially to the Duggars

    1. Oh I know what you mean about the throwing stones. It would be like saying you disapproved of someone else's lifestyle, or that their lifestyle didn't exist.

  11. They all look so relaxed. I think it's so important to make time for a married couple alone. Love Michelle's wind blown look!

  12. Jim Bob should never be surprised by Michelle...she is one brave, willing-to-try-anything, woman. She loves water skiing, skydiving, rollerskating backwards and now parasailing...she is one cool lady!!!!

  13. By flying the 4 of them out there together, they could orphan 38 kids if something went wrong. Not a choice I would make. But I’m glad to see they had a great time!

    1. And something did go wrong with a single-engine plane not too long afterwards. Costa Rica?

    2. I heard about the crash in Costa Rica that killed 6. I am sorry if I offend anyone, but I hardly trust commercial airlines. You could not pay me to get on one of those small private planes.

    3. The mortality rates are higher for driving a car than flying in an airplane. I guess you spend 24 hrs a day with your kids? A bit silly. Anything can happen anywhere.

    4. My father was a pilot of a small plane. He and my mother never flew together for just that reason.

    5. I don't even like getting on a commercial flight with my husband, for that same reason!

    6. You can't do a straight safety comparison between driving and flying a single-engine plane. They are two different vehicles, two different places. When something goes wrong in a car, there are safety systems that kick in, airbags, the vehicle starts out already on the ground, etc. When something goes wrong in a small plane, it's usually devastating.

    7. Not to mention how ell-documented it is that small planes break up terribly on impact. There are a more couples than you think who will not fly together on a small engine plane for the exact same reason.

  17. I love seeing the couples together. I miss 19 kids. Wish the Duggars would move to UP with the Bates so the whole family can be back on.
