Duggars Return in 27 Days

In just 27 days, the Duggars will return to TLC with new episodes of Counting On. The show left off in mid October with a detailed look at Joy and Austin Forsyth's wedding and a first look at Joseph and Kendra Duggar's nuptials.

Since the last season, Joe and Kendra, as well as Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo, have announced a pregnancy, and Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson have announced a courtship.

Are you looking forward to the new season?

  1. Of course, but what about Jim Bob and Michelle, they are the ones I'd like to see at home with their children that are still there.

    1. They are on counting on once in awhile..the show counting on is focused mainly on their kids and their spouses except for josh and derrick

    2. I would like to see them too. The way the show is now it's only target audience is early 20 year olds which is why I dont watch it. A lot of us were closer to Michelle and Jim Bob's age and alittle younger so the spin off show has nothing for our age.

    3. Jim Bob and Michelle and the others have been on almost every episode of Counting On. Haven't you noticed?

    4. I think what people are saying is the events of the show are all about weddings and courtship and pregnancies which is fine but it holds little interest for people not in that age group.

      Delete
    5. I would like to see more of all of them also.

    6. Those kids need and deserve to grow up off camera. They should be preparing for a real life - to earn an honest living through real work. Being followed by a camera, though lucrative, is not real work.

    7. I'd like to see Jim Bob and Michelle as well, but understand completely that they may want to keep the younger kids off tv.

    8. Cannot wait for the show to start. I hope we get more episodes. I think it's really sad that a whole family suffers from one incident. I also believe that it was handles the best way they could. What if it was one of your children? Would you want to ruin his life? No it's not "a boy thing", it's a young man with curiosity that he didn't know what to do. It was definitely wrong. But as a real Christian we know forgiveness is the very same thing God has done for us. So are we better than God that we only forgive what we pick and choose. I think not. If you don't want to watch the show then don't. Just quit trying to stop the rest of us our freedom to watch what we choose. That is not your place. God Bless the whole Digger family. I live in Chattanooga TH and would love to meet them. I know theta encourage my walk with the Lord. Jim and Michelle please contact me for a lunch if you're close to Chattanooga. You are a blessing.

    9. I agree. Being Christian does not mean that we are perfect. It means that we recognize our need for a Savior. When you become a Christian you 'jump in the washing machine'. The Duggar son whose problems were exposed so publicly is imperfect - just as we all are.

  5. I don't watch it. All the pregnancy and wedding storylines bore me. I like to watch what is happening with the other Duggars, too. However, I do still follow the Duggar happenings on this blog for quick updates.

    1. It's nothing but pregnancies and weddings right now...

    2. Anon @ 8:21 Thats not going to change anytime soon, what else have they got? No one is off to college/trade school, on a gap year travelling, starting a new career or business venture, just the same old same old, only the family members change each time, but the story stays the same!

      Delete
    3. They'll still try to make it sound exciting. Look at John David flying! Look at (any one of the boys) fixing and selling cars! Look at the girls shopping and decorating! Let's talk about brothers and sisters but not give away who might be courting! Same stuff as every other season.

      Delete
    4. Maybe Jed or Jer will go to school, or start their own business. That would be cool to watch.

    5. If you don't like it; don't watch it. That will solve the issues you perceive.

    6. 3:21- Ratings matter. If enough people take your advice and stop watching altogether, the show will be cancelled.

      Delete
    7. Anon @ 3:21 Many loyal fans are starting to tire of the same format being used over and over again. If everyone gets tired of it and stops watching as you suggest the viewing figures will fall and the show will get cancelled, that will also solve the perceived issues!

  6. YES! I hope to see more of the entire family, miss 19 kids and counting!

  7. I'm so much looking forward to "Counting On". I enjoy the pictures and videos on the blog, but seeing the Duggar family on television is even better...Jane

  8. I'm looking forward to it only if they start keeping up with current events. I don't want to see old news, silly questions, wedding preps for weddings that are long over (and already aired), pregnancy announcements for babies already born, etc. etc. They'd do better having a 2-hour special twice a year instead of weekly installments of nothing but old footage and commercials for other programs on TLC (which the Duggars shouldn't be allowed to watch).

    1. The TLC producers seem to be just phoning it in any more. Their hearts aren't in it, and it shows.

    2. Best idea is a few specials here and there. Just not enough interesting material when it's so repetitive in content.

  9. It is okay, just not the same without Anna. Miss her and the children.

    1. Me too! And I also can't wait to see Jinger sparkle now that she's pregnant. Somehow I thought her eyes weren't matching her smile last season. And the birth of baby Forsyth! Yay!

  10. I plan to watch it but am really hoping that TLC has stopped with all the repetitive flashbacks.

    3. Why not just not watch it?

    4. Good idea. Why not everyone not watch it?

    1. It'll probably be Josiah's. The only way I think TLC can get everyone to be excited about a wedding and all the prep, would be if it was for Jana.

  13. I am looking forward to it, but I'm afraid it will have too much repeat footage and not show all the things that have been going on while the show has been in hiatus.

  14. I don't have cable anymore, chose not to pay for that service anymore years ago. But I enjoy Ellie's blog. I very much miss hearing more about Michelle and Jim Bob and the kids living at home!

    1. Same with me. No cable. Too expensive for mainly garbage, imo. I loved the original show with the whole family. The last time I saw the show was Josie's birth.

  16. Yes, I am looking forward to it, but I still miss the format of the original show where Jim Bob and Michelle were featured, also.

  18. Love this family sooooo much, God bless them and all the people around them.

  19. Yes, looking forward to seeing Joy and Austin's baby. Also looking forward seeing all of the family. Glad to see Josiah found a wonderful girl. Hope to see Jinger, Jessa and all of their growing family.

  20. I can't wait! I do not have regular TV so I purchase the episodes on Amazon. Is there a cheaper way to see the show? It can get pricey on Amazon. Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  22. I am looking forward to seeing them. But I to would like to see more of Jason on down of the boys and Johannah on down of the girls and Tyler too. We don’t see the family all together much either. I mean everyone.

    1. They may be trying to give Tyler so privacy, so the other younger kids aren't in the show either so he doesn't feel kind of like an outcast. That's my guess at least.

      Delete
    2. The premise behind counting on is to focus only on the older kids. Not mom, dad and all the younger ones.

      Delete
    3. I would LOVE to see an episode about Tyler, but I don't think he would be permitted to answer the kinds of questions that would be interesting like, "How do you like being home schooled? How is it different from the kind of school you used to go to?" Also questions about his prior religious upbringing would be great to hear about. I'd like to know if he's in touch with Michelle's family, although I don't know how close the Duggars are to them. I think they had some episode years ago where they went to see her family.

      Delete
    4. Tyler is a child who deserves respect and privacy and doesn’t need to be put on display for the entertainment and curiousity of “fans”. His previous home life shouldn’t be used for TV ratings

      Delete
    5. @1:56 the Duggars have guardianship of Taylor, they have not adopted him. Asking those questions is being too intrusive. And why would you think he would answer how he really feels? No, better to give the young boy his privacy.

  25. I do look forward to the new season, however, I wish they would ditch TLC and move to another company like UP or something like that. There are so many other possibilities! For instance:

    Season 1
Episode 1- Planning for Joseph and Kendra’s wedding
Episode 2- Joseph and Kendra’s wedding 1 hour special
    Episode 3-Josiah and Lauren’s Courting proposal/Meet Lauren
Episode 4- Overview of all the other kids (who’s doing what, what grades, anything special the younger kids are doing)
Episode 5- Meet Josie Duggar (no more than 10 minutes of recaps of her birth, difficulties growing up, the rest focuses on what grade she’s in, her hobbies, her personality, what she wants to do when she grows up, what she likes to do with her friends, favorite songs, foods, etc.)
    Episode 6-Meet Jordyn Duggar
    Episode 7-Meet Jennifer Duggar
    Episode 8-Meet Johannah Duggar
    Episode 9- Meet Jackson Duggar
    Episode 10-Meet Justin Duggar
    Episode 11-Meet James Duggar
    Episode 12-Season Finale: Baby Forsyth

    Season 2
    Episode 1- Meet Baby Vuolo
    Episode 2- Meet Jason Duggar
    Episode 3- Meet Jeremiah Duggar
    Episode 4-Meet Jedidiah Duggar
Episode 5-Meet Joyanna Duggar/Baby Forsyth update (1 hour special)
    Episode 6-Meet Josiah Duggar
    Episode 7-Meet Joseph Duggar
    Episode 8-Meet Jinger Duggar
    Episode 9-Meet Jessa Duggar
    Episode 10-Meet Jill Duggar
    Episode 11-Josiah Duggar wedding proposal
Episode 12- Possibly Josiah Duggar’s wedding (1 hour special)

    Season 3
Episode 1-Potentially another Duggar wedding or baby episode
    Episode 2-Meet Jana Duggar
    Episode 3-Meet John David Duggar
Episode 4-Meet Dad and Mom Duggar
    Episode 5-Meet Grandma Duggar
Episode 6- How it works-grocery shopping for a large crowd
Episode 7-How it works-laundry for a large crowd
Episode 8-How it works-school for a large crowd
Episode 9-How it works-cooking for a large crowd
Episode 10-How it works-travel for a large crowd
    Episode 11-Question and Answer Session
Episode 12-Potentially another Duggar wedding or baby episode

Other seasons could be: Meet the spouse episode (one episode per spouse to meet Anna, Derick, Jeremy, Ben, Austin, Kendra, Lauren; learn some history about them, favorite moments in their lives, their favorite hobbies, their personalities, their goals/what they’re working towards), Meet the grandchildren episodes (one per grandchild), day-in-the-life episodes of each child, special outings (instances where maybe the Duggars go on a already planned trip), more question and answer episodes, special milestones for each of the children (driver’s licenses/permits, braces, birthdays, first jobs, etc). There are SO many possibilities, and limiting it to just rehash, wedding episodes, and every once in a while, a birth, just gets old. But, I am looking forward to the show, just wish they would rename their show and start over! 😉

    1. We've seen most of that stuff already.

      Delete
    2. Personally, I wouldn't like that.

      Delete
    3. Why do we need to "meet" the kids? Honestly, I find the older kids and their lives more interesting.

      Delete
    4. 19 kids and counting ended....that’s what you are describing here. There were some issues surrounding all that stuff a couple years ago that prompted the cancellation of the show, while some of us love the Dugger family and understand what it means to forgive and move forward television shows need sponsors and sponsors are slower to forgive. I’m with you, less old news, more info on the activities of other siblings and how about what it’s like for JB and Michelle to have less kids at home.

    5. 1. They can't just decide to move to another network. Another network has to want them first.
      2. Filling up an entire episode of air time by highlighting just one person would be a tall order. None of them are that capitvating or newsworthy- just saying.
      3. Their early shows already covered how they manage the laundry, shopping, homeschooling, cooking and traveling.
      4. The Duggars' claim to fame is their large number. That's it. Individually, they are as ordinary as you or I.
      5. All good things must come to an end... even TV shows.

      Delete
    6. This sounds much better than just weddings/wedding prep and births.

      Delete
    7. Agree @9:03. A special, every once in awhile, would be a better approach.

      Delete
    8. @ 9:03 PM - My thoughts exactly. And, I can't see how an episode featuring one child would keep the attention of the viewers.

      Delete
    9. I think there should just be the occasional special about someone getting married or having a child or something special like that, not an entire season leading up to it. I think this would be a better approach for them, particularly since they don't seem to be focusing on the younger children at all. I know that isn't how their brand works, but they should consider it.

      Delete
    10. I think these are good ideas. We know that the teens & up all work (we've seen glimpses of flying & construction & car repair) so it would be nice to see what they all do. Obviously, the family wants to keep mostly private and that is their choice but it makes them less interesting since we know so little about them.

      Delete
    11. Sorry but watching a show about the hobbies and likes/dislikes of Josie, Jordyn et al doesn’t sound entertaining to me. I teach elementary school and that’s not what I want to see when I sit down to watch a tv show

      Delete
    12. Not saying I don’t enjoy the show now, because I do, very much. However, it wouldn’t be “meeting” the children like it was the first time, but would be meeting them now that they’re older. Josie isn’t the tiny 1lb preemie we met in the first show. She’s most definitely got her own personality, hobbies, enjoyments, and adventures, and a skilled producer could absolutely captivate many people’s attention with focusing on one person. Though of course not everyone would find it interesting, I’m sure there are others who would be far more captivated by getting to catch up on the other children instead of watching reruns. And, just as their children change as they grow, no doubt their chores have changed as well. Jessa and Jinger don’t do the laundry any more. Joy and Jill don’t do the cooking any more. Jessa isn’t home to help with the schooling. Of course, not everyone would like it that way just as not everyone enjoys the show the way it currently is. Just my puny two cents worth! 😊

  26. Yes! I keep feeling Joy and austin are going to name their baby Landon John if a boy and if a girl Morgan Laura.

    1. I doubt they'll use John since Joys brother is John David.

  27. Its going to be old news. We've already seen Kendra's etc wedding and it's going to be wedding prep, a wedding we have already seen and maybe an announcment of Joys pregnancy. Why can't they keep it current or their going to lose fans

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yes, I am looking forward to it. I like to see the wedding prep and also to get to know the new spouse to be a bit through that process. Of course I like all the Duggar news too. I hope the episodes do not repeat the news too much. Eileen
