Bontrager/Bowers Double Wedding

Those who have been long-time readers of our blog have likely been acquainted with the Bontragers, close friends of the Duggars who tour the country playing gospel and bluegrass music. This year, parents Marlin and Rebecca Bontrager watched three of their children tie the knot...all in the same weekend!

On Friday, September 1st, the family threw a double wedding for Carson Bontrager, then 21, and Joshua Bontrager, 20, at the Bontrager farm. And to make the special day even more unique, the brides were sisters! Carson married Carolina Bowers, and Joshua married Cassidy Bowers in a ceremony and reception attended by nearly 1,000 guests.

The following day, Mitchell Bontrager, 25, married his sweetheart, Bryn Leppert. And a few days before the big wedding weekend, Chelsy Bontrager, the oldest of Marlin and Rebecca's 10 children, said yes to boyfriend John Maxwell's proposal, which means the family is already planning another wedding!

Below are photos from the Bontrager/Bowers double wedding, many of which include the Duggars.

  6. I never heard of this family before until now I heard of double weddings before I seen It on the fictional world of TV. But the photo of the Bontrager brothers get married by 2 sisters at the same. So nice to see a photo of the Duggar family.

  8. Why info on this family or the Bates on the Duggar site? With a family as big as the Duggars surly there is something to report from the Duggars. Miss them (well miss Jim Bob and Michelle - the older children seem to be going in a worldly direction). I will no longer watch the family on TLC even if they are put back on the network because of the TLC's discrimination of Christians but I hope Jim Bob and Michelle and the little kids come back to another network. Please more info on the parents, grandmother, and little kids - would prefer this blog focus more on these Duggars - just my opinion.

    1. I am a Christian. I do not feel that tlc discriminates against Christians.

    2. They put this info on the Duggar's page, because it's an event that the Duggars attended (see the pictures). Most people would find these "behind-the-scenes" pictures interesting.

    3. How is TLC discriminating against Christians? After how many years of having the Duggars on their network? Maybe the Duggars pushed too many of TLC's buttons, ever think of that?

    4. Betty TLC does not discriminate against Christians. My employer doesn’t discriminate against any legally protected group or religion, but if I went on Twitter and named a coworker by name and said controversial things about a specific individual and their life choices I would be fired. The Duggars have always been able to state their beliefs, they have done so without shaming or naming specific individuals. Views can be expressed without causing harm to others or verbally bashing, bullying or shaming.

    5. I personally liked this post. And it's fun to see the pictures of Josie, especially the last two...so it's still about the Duggars in a way. :)

    4. I seem to remember reading somewhere at the time of this wedding that Jimbob and Michelle attended but Josie was the only child that went with them, maybe I am wrong. Perhaps the admin know?

    1. What fun, Whispering Pines! By the way, I love your moniker! Pine trees are among my favorite, and whispering pines evokes a lovely picture of pine trees softly swaying in a gentle breeze! Guess I'm waxing poetic... ha!

  12. I wonder if the Duggars will go to the Maxwell/Bontrager wedding. They know both families - the Maxwells longer than the Bontragers.

  15. I love the giant white tent at the wedding, it adds a gorgeous touch. Might also help with wind protection? A cool idea to keep in mind, although renting them might be expensive

    1. I don't think those tents are as expensive as you might think. :)
