Duggar #9 Turns 20

On her last birthday, Joy-Anna Duggar was still in the friendship phase with Austin Forsyth (They announced their courtship on November 15th, 2016.) Now just 12 months later, Joy Duggar is Joy Forsyth, and she is about halfway through her first pregnancy. Joy and Austin Forsyth have not yet announced the gender of their baby. Happy 20th birthday, Joy!

  2. The timeline you presented actually makes me feel quite sad. Going through courtship, engagement, wedding, honeymoon, newlyweds and half a pregnancy within a year is intense to say the least. I hope she feels well, is happy to become a mom and feeling somewhat prepared for birth. Happy birthday Joy.

    1. Joy is doing what makes her happy

    2. I would imagine all that got a bit in her way when she was "helping with the children," as she said she planned to after graduation.

    3. You're feeling sad because you don't value the same things that Joy values. She sought the Lord's will on these decisions, and is happy with her choices. Do you really think it's appropriate to include your disapproval of her life choices in a happy birthday greeting?

    4. 11:23 - You're criticizing Joy because she got married, instead of living at home to help with your younger siblings? Just curious - are you also one of the people who criticizes Jana for doing that exact thing instead of moving out?

    5. Geez folks, calm down. The OP said that going through all those things in a year was intense. That is a ton of emotional events to pack into 365 days. Quite frankly no one on this blog knows if this is what makes JoyAnna happy or not.

    6. These Duggar darlings are prepared well for that life she chose...how many average teenagers these days are mature and capable enough to handle it...she is doing just fine...Im so proud of her, i have watched this little tomboy grow and mature into an exemplary young woman.HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOY JOY, may your day be blessed 😇👼

    7. everyone is criticizing 11:23 for stating her OPINION. it has been an intense year for Joy, but she is young, doing what she wants, and most likely can handle stress way better than SOME older people can. Now that I'm pushing 60, I get overwhelmed quicker and easier than I USED to. Now that I'm older, I find I am starting to get set in my ways and like routine. PERHAPS this is where 11:23 is voicing her opinion from. I don't know. All I know is this is supposed to be a happy blog and comment section, but now it is starting to read like yahoo comments with people attacking each other because they have different opinions.

    8. I agree that it is sad as well. Most of the 20-year-olds that I know are in college and/or working. They enjoy dating or being single, they travel around Europe, and go to the gym. Joy went right from being at home to being married and pregnant. She never got to enjoy being a typical teenager and 20-something.

    9. Joy made a point of stating on camera that she was planning to help around the house, since she was finished with her schooling. Austin was probably already on the horizon at that point, so she must have known what her real goal was going to be. Yet she wouldn't say it.

    10. Those are major life changes all within a very short period of time. Realistically, she probably didn't realize all that she signed up for in just a few months time. Marriage and babies are pushed at a very rapid speed in this family. Why the rush?

    11. 8:49. I’m 63 and feel the opposite. I think I’m more adept at rolling with the punches and have learned not to sweat the small stuff, as I tended to do in my youth. I wish Joy the best, but the path she’s taken would not have appealed to me at that age. Whatever works for you- There’s no one formula for happiness.

    1. So should Jill and Jessa send some of their boys back? What an odd comment.

    2. God knows each child before they're born, and He has a plan for each person. He decides whether each will be a boy or girl. If it were up to me, I would have had more girls, but God gave us 4 boys and one girl. That's not "too many boys" (and how can two be too many?), that's just what God's plan for our family was.

    3. You can never have too many boys. It bothers me how some people put a gender over the other. I have one girl and four boys. And I count it a blessing to be able to raise my daughter and four boys. And I'd be happy if God gave us another boy.

    4. 8:20- I'm trying to understand your logic. Why would God care if you'd had more girls, or five children instead of six? I think that's the fundamental problem with explaining all that happens as being the plan of an omnipotent power: Everything is ultimately his/her fault, because he/she planned it all, even the morally indefensible and most heinous of acts. If God truly gave us free will, it stands to reason that He also has left us all at the mercy of time, chance and our own choices.

    5. I agree with Jennifer. There are all these grandsons and not enough granddaughters. Who is going to be doing the laundry, cooking, cleaning and childcare in these homes?

      Delete
    6. I do not think that God (if there is one) has anything to do with "giving" people babies, or with the gender of babies. If God sends babies why doesn't he (or she) make all babies perfect. Who sends the ones with birth defects??

      Delete
    7. 12:54, maybe the parents could handle the household duties? Or how about this novel idea; the boys could help with the housework! My son can cook and do the laundry and it hasn't affected his masculinity.

    8. As a woman who has tried her entire marriage (a little over ten years) to become pregnant and whom, along with her husband, lost their only baby, we would be thrilled with all boys. I am the second of four girls, and one of them passed away when I was eight. My parents' following baby was their fourth girl, who has been a treasure to our family. My parents were never unhappy with not having any sons. My husband and I would give anything to have our son back here with us and to have more children, whether they be all boys, all girls, or a combination of both. Please think about that next time you think it's important to have more boys ♂️ or more girls ♀️. Losing my sister and my son has always made me realize that a healthy, happy baby is what matters most. With love and peace, your sister in Christ, Kristin. ❤️✝️
