'Counting On' Sneak Peek

We posted a summary of tonight's episode early this morning, and now we have a video to share. Jinger Duggar, Michelle Duggar, Jessa Seewald, Ben Seewald, and Spurgeon Seewald meet up with Jeremy Vuolo to catch a flight to Philadelphia. Derick Dillard, Ben, and Jeremy also share their thoughts on what it's like to court a Duggar gal.

Due to technical difficulties, we will be unable to write our recap until later in the week. Sorry about that! Thanks for understanding.

    1. Yes, I did too! That's what I was going to comment on as well. When Jill and Derick did a front hug at the airport when they were courting, it was a big no no. But Jinger and Jeremy have set slightly less rigid rules for themselves I guess, including front hugs? In the Bates family, Michaela and Brandon did front hugs too before they were engaged and no one ever reprimanded them. And the oldest son in the Bates family, Zach, admitted that he and Whitney kissed before they were married. So there are some rules that are made to be broken, lol!

    1. How else could TLC make the engagement trip last 3 episodes? Ep. 1: Jinger has trouble curling her hair and almost makes everyone late (for a plane that was delayed). Ep. 2: Everyone's planes are late but after dragging a baby around (why?) for 18 hours of travel, they make it. Ep. 3: Oh yes, that's right, we were going to show an engagement.

    2. This is your opinion,I disagree,it isnt boring to me.

    3. My humble opinion was that this was a very good episode and I liked the whole show! TLC did such a thorough job of interweaving the theme of courting rules from all the members then added was the current courtship stages and then included was a personal look at the remaining eligible guys right down to Jed an Jer from all the members points of view. WOW it was a thoughtful, carefully planed and executed and it was built on a meaningful theme that was well analyzed from their points of view. It was jus so well done and such a good show, simply putting it down as boring doesn't show appreciation for this meaningful episode that gave an in depth review, as well as getting to know each of the older guys well from their own and their families perspectives. So much was put into this exceptional episode, I loved it!

    4. The show featured John-David, Joseph, Josiah, Jedediah, Jeremiah, Joy-Anna all for whom there have been several requests in this blog's comments to be more in the programs. Personally I was not at all bored, this was an episode that was more like a talk show but it was really interesting and engaging too!

    5. I really enjoyed this episode! I told a friend who does not have access to the shows how exciting it was to see the older guys featured, and I feel like I know more about them now. We all know Jess & Jeremy get engaged and that will be exciting to watch next episode. They are such a cute couple.

    2. think these courting rules are out dated and over rated. its all really up to who chooses to date and without breaking any sort of lines towards each other. its called honor own self

    3. What's wrong with coming home and telling your parents you're engaged? That's how many girls do it, and it works. It was none of my parents' business who I was dating or how serious I was about a man. They trusted me, and if my heart got broken, then that was a valuable life lesson, too. It learned that it wasn't the end of the world if I broke up with someone. It only made me more sure of myself for the next time. The man I eventually picked, my parents loved like their own son. I don't know why the Duggars feel the need to guard their adult daughters so closely. Don't they trust them? Their sons don't have those rules.

      Delete
    4. 10:42, there's some good wisdom in what you're saying.

      Delete
    5. I think they trust their daughters but its the potential mates they dont know anything about and want to get to know them first. Telling your parents who you are courting or dating with a purpose, is a sign of respect towards your parents. Leaving them out of everything is saying that they arent important enough to be included in a very important part of your life.

  4. Very time consuming episode with little focus. Looking like TLC is dragging on content yet again.

    1. It was very focused, it did not stray at all until every thing and everyone was covered in a methodical way. The content was interesting ad supported the method. TLC did a perfect job! Where are the awards?

      Delete
    2. The awards are on someone else's bookshelf. This program will never win an Emmy for reality shows.

      Delete
  5. That show tonight was TOTAL repeats. Oh yes, and a plane trip. And more pointless conjecture about who might court what type of girl. Why did TLC think that was a worthwhile episode to air?? And then there were the commercials for other shows on TLC, which had to be bleeped. Lovely.

    1. Every show out there eventually takes the shows and assembles the footage into a montage. If we like a show eventually we will see the montage episodes. TLC did a good job of going this one a theme and getting to know the guys better and have everyone give their attention to everyone else in order.

    2. You seriously thought that sitting around guessing what color a wife's hair will be was TV worth watching, 2:04? Didn't that strike you as superficial when it comes to a spouse?

      Delete
    3. I agree. Not only super boring but almost felt like they were trying to advertise what the guys were looking for to get them relationships. It was kind of creepy. I have to say I've enjoyed getting to know John David more, he used to come off as kind of "off" but now I think he's just more reserved and has a dryer sense of humor. Also Jedidiah is adorable! Who would of thought? But otherwise yeah, you'd think with a new courtship they'd have a much more interesting season than they've shown so far.

      Delete
  6. Jinger and Jeremy heading to the NE was barely on the episode. It seemed like watching a rerun; little new material except for the "commercial featuring John David, Joe and Josiah" up for grabs for courtship-interested females. Please, give me a break here folks. This show is awful.

    1. These negative comments speak more about the viewer than the show. Please TLC do not cater to viewers who make these kinds of comments and stop making great shows like this one.

      Delete
    2. Yes, but only girls with the right hair color and personality traits need apply! If unsure, watch the episode and be prepared to dye your hair so you fit the desired description. In other words, the qualities the producers asked about in a prospective mate were shallow and unimportant! Shame on them for thinking those questions were necessary!

      Delete
    3. TLC knows the show isn't great. They get the ratings right after the show airs. They know where they stand.

      Delete
    4. Positive and negative comments matter. It's all about ratings in TV land.

      Delete
    5. So agree with you; this episode was full of recaps!!! Enough!

      Delete
    6. I'm not sure what planet you've been on lol but it's no secret Counting On struggled for a 2nd season and was only renewed because of the courtship. Basically the Duggars had nothing going on last season except smirks when courtships were brought up and building tree houses. TLC basically said they needed fresh material before they'd renew. I'm not bringing that up to be ugly but to be honest, It's in TLCs interest to pay attention to what viewers want to see. I don't understand the people who are in denial and attack anyone who has a critique to make. I really want to see how the kids lives (especially the older ones) play out and it's not going to happen if TLC doesn't step up and do a better job of filming/ editing these episodes. The Duggars have given them fresh material now TLC needs to do something with it.

    7. When the Duggars are in public view and taking money for it we all have a right to way in. It was a boring redundant show. Doesn't mean we don't like the Duggars at all. Lighten up

  7. I noticed in the previews for next week's episode that Anna is pregnant. What a poor decision on their part and we all know now what they have been up to. Bad timing and just not what that couple needs right now...another child in an already unhappy family situation. Those two need to use their brains that God gave them.

She's not thinking clearly for herself and her children, and I wonder if she is receiving wise counsel -- not just "children are a blessing" counsel, but wise counsel for her particular situation.

    8. Omg anna is pregnant, that is awesome. I'm so happy 4 both josh & anna. I don't think it's a poor decision or bad timing at all 4 them 2 have another baby. I personally think it's sad that people like u judge the duggars so much. I guess it's 2 bad u can't move on & 4 give and 4 get, at least josh and anna can 4 give and 4 get & have moved on 2 happy, joyful stuff. U should do the same. Move on, stop dwelling on the past. None the less judge another's relationship. Congrats 2 josh & anna if u are truly expecting!!

    9. Well it is one way to pretend everything is OK again and not have to focus on what really hurts.

      Delete
    10. Oh my I hope not. Babies are not "fixers " of adultery. Being fertile doesn't equate to faithfulness. Josh has has so many issues with sexual deviancy. It has nothing to do with forgiveness. And..Anna should NEVER forget. There are children that need to be protected. Forgetting abuse only allows for it to continue. As a Christian forgiveness is a must...that does not mean forgetting, which leads to foolishness which is an open door for more "mistakes ".

      Delete
    11. There has been no pregnancy announcement. You are assuming that she is pregnant based on a brief clip of her. Perhaps she was bloated on that day or wearing a top that fell at an angle. She could even have a bit of a "mummy tummy" after having Meredith. This is completely normal. Maybe she really is pregnant. Who knows? No matter what, you should not spread rumors when there has been no formal announcement.

    1. Texas, do you think it's OK for a family (whom you obviously admire tremendously) to be appearing on such a network? If not, would you ever consider telling the network or the Duggars so?

    6. @Anonymous October 5, 2016 at 10:02 AM: I do admire the family very much and I think it is a very fluid situation. From my perspective it is a bit like God using Jonah in Niniva. TLC has become a very dark network Biblically speaking, the Duggars are the only light of Jesus on the network as far as I know. I would not willingly snuff out the only light amongst such darkness. At the end of the day the decision to move networks or cancel the show is between God and the Duggars, they should follow Him where He leads. The TLC network and TV in general needs more families like the Duggars so go out and show what being a Christian is really about. Not being perfect, but in our faults turning back to God and for those whom have wronged us forgiveness as we are forgiven by God. As for your last question, I have written kindly to TLC requesting some different commercials to be aired during 19 kids and counting on, but I focused on my thankfulness that they have kept the show on the air. I don't think it's my place to advise the Duggars on this or any matter unless addressed by them. Like I stated before this is between God and the Duggars.

      God bless

    7. I disagree - nobody is going to look for "light" among the shows in TLC's lineup. Ever wonder why the Duggars would even fit in there any more? Ever wonder why TLC keeps them?

      Delete
    8. @AnonymousOctober 10, 2016 at 2:21 PM

I’m sorry you disagree, but we have all been given by God the free will to choose our own thoughts and for that I am thankful.

It isn’t about whether or not they will be looking for a light in the darkness, but whether or not they see it and accept it. No one living in darkness can ignore the light, whether or not they accept it as truth is a choice they must make. As a Christian I have made my choice and know the consequences of my devotion to Christ as I am sure do the Duggars also. The bible says we will be hated and persecuted because Christ was hated and persecuted. However, that does not change what we have been charged to do, which is to spread the good news of Christ’s Resurrection.

As for your second question, we as Christians do not fit in this world, because we are no longer of this world. I choose to think on how God can use us as pieces that do not fit the puzzle of this world. Pray for those who find a comfortable place here on earth. Luke 9:23 - “Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”

I know why TLC keeps them on air and it isn’t a surprise to anyone, wealth and attention. Hate is profitable today. TLC isn’t keeping the Duggars around because they like them or because they believe in their message of Jesus. The Duggars profession of Biblical truths create millions of magazine articles, interviews, facebook, twitter and other social media posts. Keeping the Duggars on air is profitable for TLC that's what matters to them. What matters to me is that God can, has, and is using the show for good. I wear a ring on my right hand with a verse that applies here. The will of man isn’t important because nothing will stop the Will of God. TLC and their motives are mute points. 2 Timothy 2:3-4 - “Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.”

Your questions seem to be focused on such negativity as if you crave divisiveness and drama. Do not dwell on the things that are not good and do not spend your time thinking on things you cannot change.

      God bless you

    1. I enjoy seeing it too, but the Duggars believe marriage is the end all, cure all. Joy, Jeremiah, and Jed all said they were so happy to be done with school, but they only finishes (their) high school! Now they all sit back and wait to get married. Which is fine, but why not do some things before then? What if it's Gods plan that they dont get married until 35? Are they going to stay at home with their parents until then just waiting? I would like to see some of them be allowed to go out into society and pursue their interests...not just working within the family or for their dad. Yes, there are some evil people out in society, but there are good ones, too! And they have so much to offer.

  14. Awful, boring episode. How'd you like to be one of the boys' wives and someday look back at last night's episode...only to find out that your husband really preferred someone blonde, country, shy, and stylish? Very bad of TLC to make them go on record stating that stuff. Relationships are not something to play around with like that. The kids shouldn't even be guessing at future wives' attributes. They should have been true to themselves, looked in the camera, and said, "I will love whoever the Lord brings to me and places in my heart. The rest is not important." Now that would have been TV worth watching. Not all that giggly stuff last night. What has happened to this show? It's gone right down the drain, where it needs to go.

  18. When I posted earlier about Anna being pregnant and what a bad decision it was at this time, please understand that I believe this child, who is on the way, is completely innocent and deserves to be welcomed and loved. Another child shouldn't have been "ordered up" when there is so much unhappiness, many issues to be resolved and stress in the household. There is plenty of time for that in the future if Josh and Anna work things out where they BOTH have an agreement about what lifestyles they both wish to continue to live and have reached a compromise. Anna isn't 28 years old yet and this is her 6th pregnancy already. Just not good thinking.

    1. I don't know if Anna is pregnant or not. People have been saying that since last December. These women don't wear tight fitting shirts, so sometimes their blousy shirts can make them appear pregnant. If she is pregnant, I seriously doubt they were trying. If you don't use birth control, then you may get pregnant even when you are not trying. My sister got pregnant three times while on birth control, so even if they were using some kind of birth control, none of them are 100 percent effective.

  20. I liked tonight's episode. You got to really see the boys a little closer up. I never realized that Josiah is such a funny guy. And Jeremiah, at only 17, seems to be pretty mature with some of his answers. All the boys tend to be thinking things out rather than giving the "expected" answers

  21. I was expecting to find this a ho-hum episode like most of their recap episodes are, but I loved that they showed older flashbacks that we haven't seen in a while. It was also nice to see the older guys featured after seeing the girls so much.

  22. If a couple is committed to remaining chaste until after the wedding, one would assume they have the strength of character to monitor themselves. I would have felt like a teenager had my husband and I been followed around by parents and siblings prior to our marriage. We had known each other a long time and lived together before our wedding. It worked for us as we've been happily married for 26 years!

  27. Sorry to say this, but I agree with the majority that this episode was too repetitive. I mean, seriously?, asking every brother what hair color they would prefer. If you fall in love with someone I'm pretty sure they could have rainbow colored hair & it wouldn't matter. Lastly, I'm awfully tired of the sidestepping & avoiding any shots or references to Josh. If we're truly supposed to forgive, how does this support that? Let's move on & enough w' the flashbacks for a whole show. Give us some current goings on.

  29. I enjoy watching the show each week, but two things have really caught my attention. First is that Jinger has gotten REALLY thin this season. I understand wanting to look nice for her guy, but she needs to take her health into consideration. There's nothing wrong with being healthy-looking. But her arms are soooo thin. I hope she's careful. The second thing is I wish she would hold back on her eye makeup. She's such a pretty girl and her eyes look so dark and overdone. After watching all of the flashbacks, I was sad to see how much makeup she wears now. I have no problems with makeup, but I think the more natural she looks the better.
