TLC Considers a Duggar Series

The Duggar family was mentioned during the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter 2016 press tour, a two-week event that runs through January 19th in Pasadena, California.

The TCA, an organization that represents more than 220 professional journalists who cover television in the United States and Canada, holds two press tours annually in order to give its members the opportunity to interview and network with TV executives, producers, and actors.

As we announced in August, TLC's decision to cancel 19 Kids and Counting cost the network approximately $19 million.

Last Thursday at the press tour, TLC Executive Vice President and General Manager Nancy Daniels fielded questions about the possibility of bringing members of the Duggar family back to network programming.

"We just aired a three-part special before the holidays that did very well," said Daniels, confirming our report about the success of Jill & Jessa: Counting On. "The audience cares about these girls."

When asked if TLC plans to launch a full series featuring the married Duggar girls, Daniels' reply was promising: "We’re still talking and considering it, but we have not made a decision yet."

Would you like to watch an entire series of Jill & Jessa: Counting On? Click here to write a message to the Discovery Communications Viewer Relations team. Your comments matter.

  5. We don't have TV so we won't be able to watch and although I'd like to, I think that it would be better for the families and girls, husbands, children to have private lives. The wolves are looking for anything to exploit and destroy. :( D

    1. I, as a Christian, loved seeing the amazing Duggar family, and their strength of faith and family. However, I question whether bringing them back on TV, considering their handling of Josh's illeagle and immoral behavior, is a good example for non Christians. I'm honestly torn on whether this would praise God, or just cause harm to His name.

  21. There are so many things that can be learned from this family. They teach good family values in a world that has many flaws. Including the fact that their own family has struggles and faults just like any other family in America. I am looking forward to watching more episodes of the Duggar family.

  22. While I may not agree with your family's beliefs 100%, I find great value and encouragement from your television show. There are many things that your family and mine, despite our enormously different backgrounds, agree upon. I thoroughly enjoy watching your show. I thoroughly enjoy getting to know your family and learning about how you chose to run your household, manage your finances, and raise your children. I've learned that love and patience are key when it comes to raising children. I also appreciate the honesty and thoughtfulnes with which your family has addressed Josh's issues and transgressions publicly. In the recent mini-series, no one brushed these transgressions under the rug. In fact, family members expressed their honest disappointment in his behavior. I find this so real, so healthy, and so encouraging. No family is perfect. Yours happens to be in the spotlight as imperfections come to light. Anyhow, I just wanted to say that I hope your family continues to find a home on broadcast television, should they so choose. And I also wish everyone the best, especially Anna, as they continue along this journey of understanding and growth. Best of luck!

  23. Please, I would love to have the Duggars back on tv. I love and respect them so much. All of them. I understand not having Josh on but all of the others are great roll models for a hurting world. Josh has demons hes fighting and I pray for him. But, his family should not be punished because of his problems. Thats rxactly what satan wants. I love Michelle and Jim Bob, such kind people. Thanks. Praying I ll see some form of the Duggars on, soon.

  26. How about a series on Anna and Josh, if Anna would like to and if she stays with Josh. There are so many divorces these days that it would be nice to see HOW to mend and build up a relationship again. This would only happen if Anna agrees to go back to Josh. Also, this show would not be to criticize anyone but to show that you can go through tons and still get through things with your spouse.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Anna stated on TV that she will not divorce.

  28. The 19 million in charges that TLC mentions are restructuring charges - it's an accounting issue - restructuring charges are typically charges that are incurred in the short term to prevent losses in the long term. You could compare it to the cost of modernizing an outdated heating system in a home to prevent expenses down the road. You incur the costs and take the hit to prevent escalating expenses in the future. It should not be interpreted to mean that TLC will go belly up without the Duggars

What he did to his sisters, family, parents, and wife Anna was a real shame and unforgiving. Please don't punish the Duggars or Anna and her family because of Josh. Thank You

  33. You could do the whole entire family, minus Josh. He doesn't need anymore publicity then what he already has.

I think fame and fortune got to him.

  34. I personally don't understand why 19 Kids and counting can't be brought back with the exception that Josh Duggar not be part of the show. I can't understand why the rest of his family has to suffer for his bad decisions.

  35. Personally I am not interested in seeing a show featuring 2-4 "normal" conservative couples on a regular basis. That is the life that most of us live. I found the Duggars interesting when they first aired because of the "16 kids" later growing to "19" and the challenges they faced with such a large family. It was interesting to see how they managed the regular day-to-day tasks. Let's face it, how many people have a commercial size kitchen and 4 washers and dryers?
However, following newlyweds and new parents would be a "boring show" its just regular life. I feel the Duggars girls have made their mark on "reality TV" and should be ready to move forward with their new lives and families. It's time for them to shut off the cameras and live their lives free from the public view. God will still be able to use them as He sees fit, but they are too young in their marriage and as parents to have to live under public criticism. Marriage and parenthood is challenging enough without displaying it for all to see and criticize.
Let's face it "reality TV" is nothing more than "cheap tv"- no actors, no studios, no sets, no nothing. And the killer part is the Duggars don't watch TV on a regular basis. Why put your life in public view and for what? Entertainment....sad.
Please move forward and enjoy each other and see where the Lord directs you.

  38. Why is this picture always used around the internet with Joseph with his arm around Jinger? I think that media should be more careful. With Josh's scandals and all, it's really not a good picture for publicity. None of the other brothers and sisters are sitting like that...

    1. I think you're reading too much into it. Siblings do that all the time and there's nothing inappropriate about it.

    2. Yeah. Maybe they are just close. Just because Josh was messed up doesn't mean its ok to judge the other boys like that. Josh's scandals are Josh's scandals not his brothers.

  43. I will continue to contact TLC asking for them to bring the Duggars back.It literally makes me sick to see people bashing the victims like when they criticize every single thing Jill is doing in Central America and her as a mother to Israel.I don't know how anyone could do that knowing what she had been through when she was younger.Thats just evil to me!

  44. Anything on the Duggars is better than 1/2 of what is on TLC now. Ilove seeing Jessa and Jill and family and also would like to see the others minus Josh. 48. Bring back the Duggar Family, but they have to be less controversial, like the Bates Family. The Bates Family does not march at anti-gay rallies, nor do they publicly support businesses that refuse to serve homosexuals. The Duggars became too political. They can demonstrate their religious beliefs by volunteering at food banks, at soup kitchens, at their Church, within their community, at prisons, at juvenile detention centers. They need to show that they've been educated to know now that transgender people are not pedophiles. They've made some disgusting accusations in the past, and they have to communicate to the public, before they're given another TV show, that they have learned from their past mistakes that they cannot broadcast erroneous and damaging information. People on TV have a moral responsibility to not perpetuate myths.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I would love it if they started back up with out Josh and just focus on the kids and the married life of Jill and Jessa and the hard live of poor Anna who is raising 4 children on her own, I can relate to Anna cause i raised 4 girls by myself and I know where she is at, doing it alone. But GOD WILL GIVE ANNA THE STREANTH TO RAISE HER 4 BABIES ALONE. GOD BLESS YOU ANNA YOU CAN DO IT.

  50. I am incredibly thankful for the entire Duggar family. I am confident that the family is on their knees seeking God's guidance on this issue. If it is in His plan, they will be back. The Duggar's have paid a price to share their lives and the one true God with the world, but I am confident they have and continue to count the cost because they have chosen to follow Him (Matt 19:21). He is worthy! "And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.' (Mark 16:15)." Continue running the race keeping your eyes firmly focused on Him...

  51. I don't feel that the way the family handled Josh's molestation of his sisters was a good example of Christian morals.I'm sorry, but I really don't.

  52. I miss this show. I hated to see what Josh's actions did to his family. Everybody has seen the pain that his actions has especially brought to his wife and children . But I still love to watch this family. There is NOBODY who have not made mistakes in their life. We are all imperfect. As a parent and a wife I hated to see the all the fall out. I hope all involved can heal . I loved watching the shows with the girls and their families. I liked seeing the some of the rest of the Duggars in the special.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I like the original show but I also liked the Jill & Jessa counting on show. I would like to see more shows on all the children either together or some what like the Jill & Jessa show. I think new shows would be good showing us how the children including the grandchildren are doing.

  54. Yes, there should be one, but it's not fair to focus only on the married Duggars. There are 16 unmarried Duggar kids plus Jim Bob and Michelle who have done nothing wrong. I'd love to see a show that features the entire family, but I understand if they want to leave Josh out of it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'm sorry, but I think the Duggars need to stop doing whatever they can to get back on TV. They will do anything for publicity, whether it's negative or positive. For them, it does really seem all about the money these days.

  63. I have emailed Discovery many times and even mailed a printed letter to Nancy Daniels asking them to put the Duggar's REALITY back on TLC. The are an awesome example of how to make good decisions despite when the reality around them is negative. They have walked through Josie's early birth and the devastation of losing Jubilee and they didn't jump out of the boat when the boat rocked - the stood firm and pressed closer into God. I am confident He has a destiny for Josh THROUGH this. He can reach many others who are currently trapped in similar struggles - they are all around us, trapped and addicted to pornography. In the Lord's hands, He can use Josh to deliver many.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Why are you so obsessed with getting them back on TV?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Why doesn't Josh agree to a sit down interview, talking about how he went down the wrong path even though his parents tried to raise him right. Take responsibility. Maybe he could help someone. I wouldn't want to see him profit from it, but maybe he would agree to do it in exchange for a donation to charity.

    1. Because he's in rehab right now? He and his family need some space and time to deal with things. Not everything should be shared with the public at least not at the moment. Just give them some time. If they want to discuss it further they will. But it the end of the day its their lives not ours and no matter how much we'd liked to know more there are somethings that they are not comfortable with and may not like to share. He hurt alot of people. Don't you think it would be hard to speak to the public about this whether it be him his wife or his parents? People need space and in our thirst for knowledge we may find out things we shouldn't know.

  87. Lots of companies prohibit TLC from airing their ads during duggar shows. They are not going to come back. Financially not an option for TLC.

    ReplyDelete
  88. The Entertainment Industry should stick to entertainment, NOT POLITICS. Millions of people are Christians, and like the fact that their kids can watch this show and not be confused, or freaked out by someone's crazy life style such as gender confusion. What has happened in this world, that good is called evil, and evil is called good? Why are whole families penalized, and all their viewers, because of one child's mistakes...? Mistakes I might add, that were in the past and dealt with and some that were unknown to the family. And why did they become known? Because a political group out to destroy goodness in the world decided they knew what was best for all people and committed a crime by opening up a closed file to the public? Where was the hand smack for what they did to this family? What's worse, TLC listened to them and condoned the actions of a group out to destroy a Christian nation so they can feel good about their twisted lives. If you ask me, it spoke volumes to me that you cancelled 19 kids, and merely one month later, aired I am Jazz...which by the way I refused to watch. I really lost alot of respect for TLC over this whole mess. TV Networks should stick to what they know best, ratings! Just think how you could have helped all of us in the audience and the family by walking us through their sorrow over a son's indiscretions and addictions. I don't see stations removing the INTERVENTION SHOWS, NO, they actually are doing a great work of teaching us what NOT to do....Wake up,,,a single group out there targeted these people; and TLC pulled the trigger. If you read the nasty posts placed on the Duggars pages by this evil political group and their trolls, you'd see more clearly how they hiss, and prod, and poke, and bully them, that's pure evil. Where is their tolerance? You missed a great chance to widen your audience with this family. If it weren't for The Little Couple, I would have completely turned off TLC, and that's a fact.

    1. That is solely your opinion,if you don't like the show then don"t watch but there are many many people like me who want the whole family back on. Thank God for His grace and forgiveness or we'd all be a mess!

  93. Yes, loved seeing the special with the girls and there family's! Please bring them back, it is fun to see them and the new little ones!!

  94. All the TLC shows that are being aired are mostly family's that are dwarfs (I have nothing against them) but TLC is not the same without the Duggars

    1. Yesss I agree!i mean Will and Zoey are great but it's not the same at all.I can't believe they were so quick to cancel the Duggars but they have a man with four wives and Meri Brown just had a very public affair and I could go on and on.They were treated very unfair!

      Delete
    2. The gorgeous Duggar girls who were Josh's victims have been through enough in their life! The last thing they need is for America to bash them! They say Jill abuses Israel what a joke!It makes me sick!People criticize everything they do!I cannot believe the lack of compassion!

    1. Yes I agree.i think they just followed what eachother did it's so ridiculous!I think the fans should get involved and TLC should go to the companies and ask for another chance.

  101. I would watch anything about the Duggers all of the Duggers, well maybe not Josh right now but God is his judge more than I am please bring them back or at least part of them

    ReplyDelete
  102. Love the Duggars!😘

    ReplyDelete
  103. More Duggars, less Kardashians. Period. Enough said. What the Duggars do for my soul is beyond the words I could type in a silly comment box. The world needs more good. Please bring back the Duggar Family. Pretty please with sugar on top...

    ReplyDelete
  104. I am among those who believe that true care for the Duggar children means they should not return to the spotlight but have the time and healing they need privately to grow up, learn about life, work, love, marriage, faith and seek true direction from God for their lives. This reality TV stuff has affected their family negatively in my opinion and I don't think they should go back to filming full time. I would expect their mother and father would be praying ceaselessly on this and giving them wise counsel... But recently I've struggled to understand what exactly Michelle and Jim Bob are chasing - God's will or theirs?

    ReplyDelete
  105. Please bring the Duggars back in 2016!!This was the only show I was watching! The fans miss them greatly! The people that have been watching them for almost a decade have watched the kids grow

    ReplyDelete
  106. Maybe the dedicated Duggar fans should do what the people that hate them do and boycott watching all of their channels especially TLC unless they bring them back.I mean we won't be missing much at all.TLC is not the same or watchable now that the Duggars are gone.

    ReplyDelete
  107. DUGGAR FANS: we should take action like the people that were for getting the show cancelled did.Like all of us contacting TLC asking them to bring them back, contacting advertisers, making Facebook pages to bring the show back. There is a lot we could do to help.I really think if enough do this it can really make a difference!I have watched this wonderful family for about a decade now and fans,we know the Duggars character and what great people they are.We know they do NOT have hate in their heart! These are people that don't follow the show that are twisting or drastically exaggerating things the Duggars have said and done. The child abuse claims are just ridiculous too! This is the only show I can think of that was positive all of the time and it was such a comfort for me.I cannot stand the swearing and sex and vulgarity on other shows.Even just the negetive drama on other shows. It can be so depressing.I always felt positive after watching the Duggars.I miss them so much!

  108. TLC has jazz a little boy that lives as a girl Kate gosselin got more fame once her husband Jon had an affair we have kody brown with four wives meri brown who had a very public affair honey boo boo was cancelled because it was so gross and had no viewers either!it was on its way out anyways!

  115. Oh, I so wish this will happen. I hardly watch any TV, but the Duggars were one of my favorites. Please bring them back.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I get so mad when I read gossip articles with people bashing this entire family (including the victims)for what one person did. These people are insane and don't know their facts!Anyone who followed this show every week would know the Duggars are great and it's so vile to call them abusers! It infuriates me!its a small group of spiteful hateful people!what this family went through was tragic! They don't need to be criticized for every single thing they do!!!

  117. Yes,absolutely,I would love seeing the Duggars on TV again. It's a pleasure watching a show about a family that gets along & encourages one another. I hope all the family will be featured.

    ReplyDelete
  118. These TLC shows are a family favorite and the Duggars have clearly been a blessing to many in many ways. TLC is holding them to a standard of being a perfect family but evidently that is not reality. I want the Duggars back with their mistakes and corrections and all!

    ReplyDelete
  119. I voted before stating I would LOVE to have the Duggars back on TV. I completely missed Jessa having the baby because the program did NOT record as it was set up to do. AND, of course, there are no reruns now of their shows to catch. Lois in Kansas

    ReplyDelete
  120. There is room for variety, we have all sorts of programming, unfortunately most of it is not child friendly or Christian friendly...seriously folks we need more quality programming and the Duggar show is just that, it was entertaining and interesting to watch. What goes on is a persons private life should not dictate if people get a show .In that case...if you want to get real, how many people in the entertainment industry have completely different personas than what we see...I'll answer that ..MOST OF THEM! So what gives...why are they any different?Just sayin.I could care less what they do in their private life.To me they are fascinating, thats what drew me in the first place, then i grew to care and love them.

  121. I am surprised to see all these comments about how the viewers are penalized because the show was taken off. About how much they want to see the show again. About how unfair it is for the fans. But very few people seem to concerned about what is best for the Duggars. Don't you think they might need this privacy? Don't you think it could be helpful for them to be able to deal with this without cameras following them to show their pain to the world? You seem to forget it is not just a TV show for your entertainment. It's their life. And don't tell me they need the show. No one needs to be on tv. Maybe they want to, but they don't need it. And they should be smart enough to realize it.

  122. Just sent a message to Discovery, thanks for the link...HOPING the Duggar family will be back on the air with a new inspirational show!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Yes yes yes! It would make me and so many others so happy to see this awesome family return. We love the girls, but would love to see the entire family (minus Josh, of course!)! Removing this show was such a mistake. I hope no relative of a TLC employee commits a crime because the TLC employee will probably get fired! That's what happened with the Duggars. ONE Duggar screwed up & the entire family got punished. So not fair. I would be more than thrilled if they return to tv! :)

  124. How would that work out with Jill and family being in Central America on the mission field?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They showed them in central America on counting on. I don't think it would be that difficult. They've filmed the Duggars annual mission trip before as well.

  125. The family was great to watch when they were first on tv but with all the drama that has happened in the past year, I think they've run their course. I would love to see another family featured instead.

    ReplyDelete
  126. If the Duggars want to be on TV, then I hope it happens for them

    ReplyDelete
  127. As said so many times before, but I must chime in....I loved the special and would like to see the whole family return. This show warms my heart. Keep Josh under wraps and it will be just great!

    ReplyDelete
  128. Yes. The Duggars know they're not perfect, that is why they need a savior. They just do their best day by day the way they should. Some not so much. I love the Duggars and so does God. I pray Josh is on his way to recovery. I pray for his wife and children and for their healing. Congrats to the Duggars for their perseverance and love.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Very sad news. The Duggar children need to be away from the tv screens. They've already gone through too much (except the first son). They need to be away from cameras to heal from all their longtime silent suffering.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Still praying for the family. Would love to have more. God Bless You All!

    ReplyDelete
  131. I really hope this happens. They need to get the junk off of the channel and bring things like the Duggars back.

  132. I would be thrilled and blessed to see the Duggar family on TLC again, that is if it is in God's plan for them. As many have already expressed, no family or individual is perfect. Unfortunately, when someone is in the "spot light" or professes that they are a CHRISTian, they are put under a microscope. And every little imperfection in their life is advertised and judged. We all can learn from one another and I personally have learned a lot from the imperfect but fogiven Duggar family. And I believe that EVERY single person is capable of doing what Josh did, of being a murderer, a thief, etc. We ALL are born with a sinful nature, its all about choice. Everyday we are faced with a bizzilion choices and we are ALL capable of making a life altering one. I pray for healing in their hearts and for trust, honor and hope to be restored to this CHRISTian family. If we want the Lord to forgive our sins, we must be willing to forgive as well. In the Lord's eyes, a sin is a sin. Whether it's being unfaithful to our spouse, sexual abuse or stealing a piece of gum from the store, a sin is a sin. There is no sin that is worse than another. With that being said, those who are passing judgement on Josh or his family, is not any different than Josh. Because a sin is a sin. We shouldn't waste valuable time that we are blessed with by judging and condemning, we should use the gift of time praying. Pray for Josh, pray for Anna, for their beautiful children and for the entire Duggar family. I can guarantee that everyone reading this has been spared from tragedy or such because of someone prayers. Thank you Duggar family for sharing your lives with millions of people and teaching us how to love, forgive, and trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not lean on our own understanding, but acknowledge His ways. (Proverbs 3:5,6) Thank you for your accountability for the wrong choices within your family and as showing us all how to love and forgiveness. May your family be gynormously blessed with restoration, strength and healing. God bless you.

  133. Bring it back the way it was. So they have 1son out of 19living children that made horrible choices. The girls seem more harmed by all the media Makeing up stuff then The situations that happend and they did get help, it's not Jim Bob and Michael's fault that the law enforcement swept it away so they had to deal with things The best way they could.

  134. I sure hope that TLC brings back this wonderful show and family. I really miss my Tuesday nights with the Duggars.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I would love to see this family back on TV, but maybe for just some short series of episodes at a time, so that they can live the rest of their lives away from the public eye. Josh has been forgiven by his family and by God, and they are learning to trust him again. We all could learn from this...not a single one of us is perfect. Everyone deserves a second chance! It is refreshing to see members of a family who truly love one another and who totally embrace their faith.

  136. love the Duggars, would like to see it re-aired on tlc

    ReplyDelete
  137. Would love for them to be back. I don't understand why they were taken off to begin with. If Josh was grown I could understand but he was 12 or 13. Still terrible but being that he was so young it should have been sealed. As far as the cheating it is also horrible but these days it seems to be happening more than not and you would have to cancel everything because in every show you have I'm pretty sure someone involved has been unfaithful some time or another. It's sad but it's the world we live in. Hope the show comes back.
