Jill: 'I See it as a Re-Victimization'

In part two of their interview with Megyn Kelly (video below), Jill and Jessa explain the shock and anger they felt when their juvenile records were released. As Jim Bob and Michelle said during their interview on Wednesday night, the Duggars believe there is a good chance that the media had an agenda. "I know that the tabloids that released this, they are used to exploiting women," says Jill. (Click here to watch part one of the interview.)

  1. This is amazing to me! Sam Adams (51) was a mayor of Portland Oregon was dating a boy that was underage! Did that make headlines???? Whoppi we can bring God into anything we want because we are all sinners we all fall short of the glory of God and we ALL need God! If the Duggars make anyone feel like you are doing something wrong....its not them doing! They are just living out the Bible and how it tells us to live our lives! There are those that believe and there will be those that dont! My prayer is more ppl come to saving faith thur all of this saddness.. May God be the glory!

  2. I too believe that you too were forced to come out and tell a story that happened to you as a child not forced by your family or parents but by those who had hidden agenda's hate your Christian values. the only thing I can think of is those without sin cast the fist stone. what josh did was wrong but he was a child too. I want your show back on air .I want to see you girls baby's being born. God Bless you all and good luck to you all . care my prayers are with you always where can we go to keep the show going

  4. I feel bad for the victims and the whole family, I'm not saying what Josh did was right, but it was so long ago. I'm mad at the fact that the information was just thrown out there, its not for them to release.

  5. The fact that the duggars have preached the gospel for these many years and reached out to an unsaved world is why they are being attacked. This is a war waged against God himself. The devil is cunning in turning the hearts of men into stone. God will prevail. He has allowed the duggars time to get His message out. What the unsaved don't understand is that this will not stop this family from reaching out to the lost. They will rally from this and carry on. No one can thwart the intentions of God.

  6. Holding your family up in prayer. The Lord has the victory and we know who has the stronghold on the media. Jill and Jessa sat through this interview with dignity and grace...what a testament to how this family holds on to the Lord in times of tribulation. This is an encouraging message to those who are going through struggles and to whom they can seek help from. Our help comes from the Lord.

  9. I definitely agree there is a media agenda and it's such a shame. How can anyone with half a heart see the pain these beautiful young women are going through now and not be filled with compassion for them? This information should NEVER have been released! Clearly they had forgiven Josh long ago and managed to move on with their lives. To have all of this made public all these many years later, especially at a time that should be the happiest of their lives as they are newly married and starting their own families is very cruel. I am praying for all of the Duggar family and pray they are encouraged to know that many people still greatly admire and support them. God bless you all and stay strong during this very rough time!

  10. My heart breaks for Jill, Jessa, and all of the victims - and their loved ones too. I am so sorry they were re-victimized by thoughtless, heartless human beings whose only interest was scandal, money, and selling their slanderous stories. May God forgive them for what they did - and what they are doing. And may God forgive the howling masses who have no concern for the victims - their only interest is in attacking this decent family. God Bless you Duggars! ♥

  11. Amazing strength shown by the girls and the Duggar family through all of this. I was completely shocked with the information, but I admire how they've handled the entire situation.

  12. I am so very sad for the girls. I thought it odd, however, that Jessa just stared at Jill while she was crying. Jessa displayed no emotion and did nothing to comfort Jill. Anyone else feel the same?

    3. Yes it was chilling. Sad really, poor Jill.

    4. To be honest, I have 2 older sisters. Like Jill, I'm very sensitive and cry the most easily, my middle sister is tenderhearted as well. However, our oldest sister is a social worker and has a personality like Jessa. She doesn't shed tears easily and is more like a bull in a China shop. Everyone deals with things differently. Jessa is eerily like my oldest sister. Sympathetic, but nothing seems to faze her. God made us all differently for a reason! We can't all be someone who cries at everything, but we can't all be stoic and fearless either.

    5. Jessa does get emotional, she cried at her parents and Jinger crying at her wedding yet Jill didn't shed a tear at hers. She may have been angry and thinks ng about what she was going to say next.

    6. This is jus Jessas personality. It was reference a season or so ago when she was courting Nen I do believe. It may have been Michelle or one of the other girls said she's very balck or white and not an emotional person whereas Jill is very tender hearted I think your reading too much into it.

      Delete
    7. I think Jessa was just trying to let Jill compose herself so that she could talk

      Delete
    8. People respond differently. Jessa has said in the past that Jill tends to be more emotional than the others. But anyone notice that Jessa's hands were anxiously clamped together on her lap the whole interview? Pretty sure that would be me too.

      Delete
    9. I believe Jessa's way of reacting is different than Jill's. She most likely feels like she needs to be the strong one.

  13. This whole issue is just wrong in so many ways!
It is so cruel and reopens wounds for these precious girls. It all came about 10 or 12 years ago. It violated so many not even involved because those who are in far worse situations will now hesitate or even stay quiet because they will fear the breach of confidentiality! There had to be a vindictive reason and a vindictive agenda behind this! These girls and the whole family really need every prayer we can pray for them! The only good in all of this is that God will prevail and He promises that what has been meant for evil will be used for good. Our God reigns!

  14. Prayers continue to go out to this family! May God pour down his blessings upon them and give them peace. This interview was very well done. I hope everyone will watch it and see the truth.

  15. That's just Jessa's personality - to look on emotion objectively.

    ReplyDelete
  16. On second thought… maybe Jessa had been coached not to show too much emotion?

  17. Stand firm in your faith Duggar family. God will see you through. Fellow Christians support you and pray for you.

  18. My heart really hurts for these girls and I think they are incredibly brave for speaking out about it all. I was hurt physically and mentally by my brother when I was much younger and I cannot imagine what it would be like to have that splashed on the front page of every newspaper and magazine in the country. They put their trust in the system and it failed them big time, yet no one seems to be focusing on the fact that they have essentially just re-victimised these girls. I am so glad they said that forgiveness and trust are not the same thing, it took me far longer to trust my brother than it did to forgive him. My thoughts and prayers are with the family

yes I totally agree. the reason the Duggars are being attacked so severely at this time is because they are powerful force to reach people for Christ. They have reached millions of people with the gospel, and Satan is threatened. He is using all his lies to silence those who are the real deal. I pray every day for the Duggar family - first that they will not be discouraged and second that they will know they are loved by far more people than the few loud voices who are judging them, and third that this unjust persecution will soon end and their lives can return to normal. I can testify personally, that the family has influenced my family showing us by example what it means to live as a follower of Jesus Christ. God has a plan in this, though we don't understand. He will work all this for His purpose. Hang in there, and pray always that we will not be divided or shaken by the father of all lies.

  20. Don't know where to ask this...but I am concerned for Josh losing his job. Is he going to go back to selling cars?? With 4 kids, he will need to do something. Especially if their show doesn't come back on. I mean he won't even get royalty rights from repeats since they pulled the show. So sad. This family is a great loving family. I will miss them. I will miss seeing Josh and Anna's really cute kids too.

  21. I think that is Jessa's nature. Remember, "If they don't like them (bridesmaid dresses), they can wear them anyway."

    1. She was actually just joking when she said that. What she said seriously was "if they don't like them, they can find their own dress. I would hope they choose to wear what I picked out but...."

  22. I truly feel for this family, no one should have put this out there for the world to see, all they did was hurt the victims all over again. niow they have to relive this all over again. josh wasnt some 25 year old when this was done he was a teenager. not that that will ever be a excuse but people are making him out to be someone who did this in his 30's.. i am so sorry for the girls who this was done to but they forgive and tired to forget. so i hope who ever brought this to life is proud of them self because you brought those girls the pain right back to them and this u should be ashamed for.

If I remember correctly from an episode, Jessa has said she isn't a very emotional person.. She is a black and white type of person and doesn't candy coat or anything. So I think what she did (didn't do for Jill) was completely normal for her. Jessa and Jill are two completely different people and where Jill is compassionate, loving, emotional, and wears her heart on her sleeve, Jessa is not.. She is a lot more guarded. So to me, I didn't find it at all strange.. They are both dealing with the same situation completely different. Just my two cents.. I love this family and I feel so bad for them.. I stood by them even before the two interviews where given.. I knew this family enough through the years to know that the hogwash the media was slinging wasn't even half the truth.. Good Bless.

  24. I thought Jessa would reach out to Jill when she was crying, didn't really understand her just sitting there. it was so awkward, at least she could have held her hand out, it was very chilling..

  26. I couldn't watch the clip. It's just too upsetting what the media has done. I sent an email to In Touch Weekly. I held back what I would have said had I not been a Christian but I did let them know they were re-victimizing those girls all over again. I also told them not to respond back because they have nothing to say that I want to hear. I can't help wondering if they just laugh at the hate mail they get for posting that information on their website.

  27. They both looked completely stunned when asked about the other victim outside of their family. We are praying for her as well!!

  28. So wrong to put these girls through this, it is also a danger to girls who may be being victimized now and see that this kind of thing was not kept private after going to authorities!

    ReplyDelete
  29. @AnonymousMy thought, also. Why wasn't she comforting her sister.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The girls did not have to talk to Megyan Kelly. They chose to be interviewed. Sometimes it is best to be quiet. A lot of people do not know the family or show. They did not know the victims, until they were interviewed.

  31. I think that the Duggar family is going through an extremely hard time right now there business should have stayed between there family and nobody else.. they have all forgiven him and...nobody should dwell on anyone's past, especially if they don't have a perfect past! I think God has used there family as an example that nobody is perfect and everyone sins and makes mistakes but also that we should forgive! God bless the Duggar family

    ReplyDelete
  32. The Duggar family is going through a lot at this time...I think there business should have stayed between them, it wasn't anyone's place to tell and they already forgave Josh I think God used this family as an example to show that you shouldn't dwell on someone's past, you should forgive and I'm sure this family takes all the rude comments at heart...it's not fair for all of these kids to go through hateful words because of there family's PAST. I also think this got out because this family lives off of the bible and they love God and I think some people were jealous or didn't like it but that shouldn't change anything about there love for God
    God bless the Duggar family

  33. Jessa handles emotions differently. She was not cold towards Jill, quite the contrary, she knows her sister. Jessa probably realized that if she acknowledged Jill's tears at that time, then Jill would break down even more. She sat back and gave Jill what she needed: time to compose herself. The big deal in this situation is that someone(s) thought it was ok to release this information knowing that it would harm these young women. That is horrible.

  34. I'm angry. At first I blamed Josh and Michelle and Jim Bob. After watching the interviews, I see I was wrong. This whole thing is wrong, and evil. These people who illegally released these records and the news organizations that picked it up and twisted it should be held accountable for ruining Josh's life and victimizing the girls. Megan Kelly did a great job and I feel the anger she radiated. I'm praying that God will restore to the Duggars ten fold what the enemy has stolen. Come quickly Lord Jesus, and bring your justice.

  35. I think it's weird how they state that what Josh did was minimal but they refer as themselves as victims. How can they be victims if according to them nothing really happened. .....

    ReplyDelete
  36. Duggar Family...Josh,,your all loved....more than you could ever imagine.!..Believe it,,and go on..,,wherever or however that may be.

  37. I think what Jessa says absolutely correct "they felt no need to share this private inforamtion with people who were not part of the problem or the solution." There is no reason they should have ever had to feel like this is something they owed the public to disclose. Every single one of them were minors at the time and this should have never been released. The fact that Josh did come to his parents and tell them what he did showed that he wanted help for what he had done and he knew it was wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  38. If Jessa had have comforted Jill it might have made her cry more. I know that's what would have happened to me. She was just giving her time to regroup. They are wonderful girls that were forced to speak out to defend their family. If they come back on the air it will be wonderful, but if they don't it might be the best thing for the family getting away from the cruel comments! Praying for the whole family!!

  39. Huge supporter of the whole Duggar family!
What has been done to them is wrong and disgusting!!!
The past needs to stay there!!!
This was done and dealt with properly and there is absolutely no reason that this family is run through the mud for something so long ago!
They are now starting families of their own and shame on those who are now wrecking the most exciting time of their lives!
I have always loved watching you Duggars and I hope you feel the support from your many genuine fans who truly wish you many blessings!!!

  41. Jessa reminded me a lot of me actually when I'm with my sisters and one of them is working through something tough. My personality is to protect and be the strong one, and so I feel like I can't let down my guard. I'm also much more reserved. Doesn't mean I don't care. I stick right by my sisters and they know I'm supporting them 100%, I just can't emotionally comfort them like I wish I could sometimes. And like others have said, Jessa has said herself before that she is not the outwardly emotional type. And though I do cry from time to time, I never would in front of cameras in a million years. Nor would I have reached out to my sister with my hand. That's just not me.

  42. I don't know if the Duggars read this, but I wish they could hear my voice among the masses of Christians who love them dearly and are in awe of their handling not only of this situation today but of how they handled the situation 12 years ago. My heart is so heavy and sad they're having to go through this unprecedented attack, but I just hope they feel God's love through His people right now. My heart aches for Josh, who has claimed Christ's forgiveness, whose sin is washed away forever, and who has grown into such an honorable trustworthy man....this man now has to be reminded in such a hurtful, public way of sin that was cast far away so long ago. The poise and grace of Jill and Jessa absolutely BLEW my mind. When it ended, I said outloud, "Those girls ROCKED it!" I believe, like the Duggars, God will use this for good, even though certain people meant it for evil. But for now, I just wish I could hug each of them. Your family is shining more brightly than ever.

  43. I believe that some good will come out of this. While these young women may have had to go to therapy, it probably wasn't long. These young ladies forgave their brother and moved on with their lives. Sex abuse victims should learn from Jessa and Jill instead of talking about it forever in therapy.

  45. Girls you are so brave!!! This is all a twisted story to make it sound worse than it was just because of your faith. I have always loved your program and is not fear that television allows people getting drunk, using bad language, etc it is like is more acceptable than your program. Like they have never sin!!
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God!!! Praying for you all

  46. I am so upset over this. The mainstream media have been calling the Duggars every name under the sun....why? They dealt with a family problem that happen with the children when they were minors correctly (even the officials stated they did EVERYTHING right) yet the media have spun this in order to make this family look bad. The people who are the true problem is the trash magazine intouch who illegally obtaining info on minors from the police chief with an agenda to bring down a Christian family. The shock and outrage is totally misplaced. Typical in this sinful sick world. It is past time for the mainstream media to apologize to this family! Also past time for TLC to put this show back on!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. If you watch their show, you'll see all of them just sit by and listen intently when one's hurting. It's a respectful way of listening... When you touch someone in the middle of sharing, it can cause a moment of weakness. This family is very strong. I miss the show! The family always said their way of living works for them-- they havent pushed it on others. Should of been private he WAS NEVER CHARGED when 14 people! Juvenile records should be private-- josh's record wasnt even a record of offense. Not charged! Never should have come out. They should sue to teach the media involved a lesson. You go Duggars!
