The Duggars in a Movie!

Just a few days ago, Jim Bob Duggar brought some of his children to Albany, Georgia, to participate in the movie Courageous, made by the creators of Fireproof. The Duggars were runners in a 5K race that will be featured in the film.
"What they do with their movies is what we do with our show," said Josh Duggar. The Duggar family uses "19 Kids and Counting" to encourage others, just as Sherwood Films, the producers of Courageous, purposes to bring encouragement with their movies.  Make sure to watch for the Duggars in Courageous, in theaters in 2011.
Sherwood Films also produced Fireproof, Flywheel and Facing the Giants. Have you seen any of these movies? If so, what did you think of them?

  1. I own 2 of the movies: Fireproof and Facing the Giants. Interestingly, I watched both of them again very recently! I really like the movies produced by the Kendrick brothers - wonderful Christian values and great for all ages.

I also ordered Flywheel, and it should be arriving very soon. I cannot wait for Courageous to come out next year! I am following the Courageous FB page, and I saw Stephen Kendrick do a short interview with Jim Bob Duggar on there, which is how I found out about the Duggars' cameo appearance. :)

  2. We've seen and enjoyed all of the Sherwood films. They got increasingly better over time. ;)
My kids love Flywheel, and it is a great story, but definitely a B movie.

  3. Isn't Letters to God also by the same people?

  5. Simple Pleasures, Letters to God is not made by Sherwood Films, but it was made by a producer that did a lot of work with Sherwood on the sets of Facing the Giants and Fireproof.

  8. I've only seen "Facing the Giants" but I've seen it so many times, I I could recite it line for line along with the film. I love the message, the acting and the whole story.
I'm so pleased to see my 2nd favorite family (my own family is, of course, my 1st favorite family) will be on the silver screen (Hollywood's next, no doubt). This is a great Christian family and I hope they get all the recognition they deserve. I love this family so much!

I'm so happy to know that they are making a new one and even more excited about the subject.
It will be fun for us to watch and see if we can pick out some of the Duggar family. :-)

  10. I was fortunate enough to spend time on the set of Courageous the same time that the Duggar Family was there. I actually did an interview with Jim Bob for my website, christianmusicreview.org. You can see the video at:

I had the opportunity to hang out with Josh for most of the afternoon and I have to say that this family is humble and down to earth and it's amazing to see that they're just as genuine off camera as they are on.

  12. All the members of the Duggar family inspire me. The way all the children have been raised inspire me to raise my children with the same values in the future. Although I am only 21 I can only hope that with God's help I can raise an amazing family just like yours. "Modern Modest" is something I want to bring to my family in the future. Peace & Blessings.

  13. I live in Leesburg, Ga which is a small town outside of Albany. I missed seeing the Duggars when they were in town (because somehow I didn't get the memo that they were coming) but I love to watch their show. I hate that I missed seeing them. My 3yr old even loves to watch their show. I saw the show last night that showed them filming the movie here. It was neat seeing a small town like Albany on such a BIG show. I really admire Michele and Jim Bob for raising their children in such a christian environment. They have the most patience. They really took the verse in the bible that says patience is a virtue seriously. Michelle and Jim Bob thanks for being such an inspiration to other christian families.

  16. Saw Courageous yesterday. Saw one of the girls in the church scene. Did not know they were in the movie. I love your family and your show. It is one of the few shows I DVR for my children to watch. You family has inspired me to look deeper into what I thought was my faith. I have since learned that I was only 'going through the motions.' I wish I could live with your family for a week or two and learn first hand what we only get a glimpse of on TV. I am sure your family inspires more people to move into a closer relationship with the Lord.

I can't thank you enough for sharing your family with the world. You are a great inspiration.

  20. We own all of the movies (Flywheel,Facing the Giants,Fireproof) and our new movie which will be added to the collection! We are getting Courageous 1-17-12! And I am so EXCITED about the movie, and we went to see the movie October 1,2011 2 days after it came out and we did recognize the Duggar's at the funeral, and at the 5K race in the movie! I give that movie out of 10 a 9.9 they did really good, and I hope they make some more of them!

    God Bless,
    Becca Snead

  21. How did the duggars justify doing a movie where the women were defrauding the men by their dress. (according to duggar "standards")

  22. @Mrs.B @Mrs B -- I get the impression that the Duggars pray for God's wisdom about everything in their lives and go where HE leads.
