I don't agree with the negative comments.. A wedding is an exciting time in any family and yes it does take over and the show is reflective of this, but we get to share in their excitement, which is lovely. I am sure we will see them return to their everyday lives., wedding or not God is very much their focus.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6925412444274057427.post-22472232322497555672014-10-06T15:09:41.368-05:002014-10-06T15:09:41.368-05:00Can you plesae tell the exact type of the Pfaff Se...Can you plesae tell the exact type of the Pfaff Sewing machine Jana used to alter the dresses. Again she is a stranger, they are 3 and 5, it's two minutes of the entire time she was there she was there, and it was nap time. Looked to be overdue for it. I'm glad you have mealtime down to science and strangers compliment your kids. Your kids deserve the compliments. Another interesting thing is the duggar larger family eats buffet style. None of the kids have to take all the choices. And mIchelle admits on camera a group that large isn't going to share a love for the same food. Every family does it different. So long as they don't starve it's fine. kmshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01791551228094642235noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6925412444274057427.post-86480735710547072822014-10-03T14:33:10.828-05:002014-10-03T14:33:10.828-05:00Obviously I touched a nerve with a couple posters ...Obviously I touched a nerve with a couple posters about little ones learning to appreciate the food set before them. I did NOT say this is what YOU should do, it's what WE do. First, I did not mean 4 bites of the same food. Four bites from the whole plate. We as parents, are teaching our children to also consider the person who took their time to cook for them, to show appreciation. Four bites off your plate is not a lot to ask for, IMO. Small Children usually get close to full after that amount anyway. I've had a lot of mentor moms along the way and at our church MOMS meetings is where I first heard of instilling this dinner time character in our children. It has worked for us. We get many compliments on our boys for their table manners. So you want to call me ridiculous? I didn't say Anna and Josh SHOULD do this. What I stated is what we DO. Next time I'll write a story in detail so you won't misunderstand. :-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6925412444274057427.post-63187109587963367982014-10-03T08:28:11.324-05:002014-10-03T08:28:11.324-05:00Anon 14. We saw 30 seconds of their not looking at the person talking to them. You noticed the kid was tired right and went right to a nap right after they were done putting food on a stick that had been prediced ahead of time. And then they ate a full dinner right after they got up from the nap? I don't think it was really dinner time. I think they we're pushing a dinner on them for filming purposes just after their nap. Not at their typical dinner. Then add all the newness of so many foods in the span of hours and they are not going to be all smiles all the time. I am glad the kids are allowed to be seen as real kids and not performing. It's in fact more encouraging. kmshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01791551228094642235noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6925412444274057427.post-65155323276688537052014-10-03T08:04:36.821-05:002014-10-03T08:04:36.821-05:00The Duggar shows and books are so good! All in all...The Duggar shows and books are so good! All in all they are treasure troves of valuable real life information. I am very grateful to have these, as they are wonderful reference and source books for living. One can not go through this material without feeling up beat, happy, and joyful! The Duggars do give the encouragement in living they say that they hope to do when they make public presentations. I appreciate them so much. There is always something to take away and apply to my life, and many challenges and levels of challenges are found there. I might come away from a show and praise my children more. But then what about their example of teaching purity children in relationships, that is much, much more challenging. There is just so much in their lives to learn to do. Jim Bob and Michelle are remarkable people in how they have lived. These lessons in living and examples really are helpful to others. (Also I would like to add that persons leading others through social support jobs such as help others to achieve community living could gleen many ideas on living fully in the community from the Duggar's lives.) A big bouquet to all the Duggars (and all the families' families too).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6925412444274057427.post-36455709274293344642014-10-02T23:27:27.864-05:002014-10-02T23:27:27.864-05:00@Marilyn yaeger

In hind sight if Jessa did not do a college course and is just now following Jill's lead then I think the Duggars should learn from that experience. Will Jinger and Joy be trying to find their niche and take a course soon? Those late teen early twenties years before marrying are a good time for that. Maybe there will more of an emphasis on sharing some of the other developmental steps in the children's new seasons yet. However I do not want to undermine the Duggars focus on serious courting relationships and good intentions for establishing strong relationships that are sealed in a good marriage. That is definitely something of value to share with the world that I know I did not get right myself.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6925412444274057427.post-77655841715729799422014-10-02T15:13:59.001-05:002014-10-02T15:13:59.001-05:00Helping a sibling with their special projects does...Helping a sibling with their special projects does give one a good feeling of having been a support in them achieving their goals. I think she just has to consider portion size, especially for the children. Mackenzie and Michael were given adult sized portions, Marcus' portions seems more realistic. I am sure they do not force their children to eat more than they desire, but you could end up throwing out a lot of food. It is also less overwhelming for a child trying out new food, to have less on the plate. Another trick is to use a smaller plate. They are a very sweet family and it must feel very odd having fans like me observing the details of their lives and comment on their portion-sizes! I certainly could not stand in spotlight! Yikes! Michaels favorite veggie is broccoli according to the farmers market video. I'd say they were doing fine. Don't forget all those foods were new to the kids. I don't recall all the duggar adults eating four bites of every food available to them on their Asian trip. I recall dad not pleased about the food from Nepal. Jill wasn't looking forward to eating it again. Why must a four year old be so much more flexible to something the adults in their lives shy away from, trying several bites of new and strange foods. The adults had made comments about the strange foods. I am glad they were nasty to the kids about it. Just to throw it out there but 1 in 88 kids have autism. Not that these children are at risk for being diagnosed many kids go undiagnosed until 4, even older. Especially kids not in a school or day care. One of the difficulties is looking a person in the eyes when they are being spoken to. And even realize they are being spoken to. Not all such behavior by little kids is because parents haven't taught them, but because they have an actual diagnosis of a challenge that makes things like looking into ones face difficult or impossible. And food aversions and the spectrum also go hand in hand. It is hard to understand the fear and discomfort of the texture, visual appearance, smells that these children experience. I hope parents wouldn't be so domineering that later they feel awful finding out their child had autism and that it wasn't willful disobedience they were reacting to. I hope none of your children face such a challenge. Besides parents know only to introduce one new food at a meal and not a mess of them. It's setting up the child to fail. It's too much pressure. You don't stress out a kid who is hungry at a meal with almost nothing familiar.
