And they were gracious to pose for a picture with my husband and I. The program was informativee about SWAN and included performances from some of the students and a talk from a VIP from the local public school. Our table was sponsored by a local business so I am sure what we paid went fully to the organization. These kind of fund-raising events are popular in our area. <br />Except for the beginning prayer, no mention was made of faith, God, etc., that I remember. They work in the public schools after all. I imagine that the people who volunteer with the students are making a difference in the lives of the students they work with.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6925412444274057427.post-18545884470074229702017-11-12T20:45:59.135-06:002017-11-12T20:45:59.135-06:00See there is someone saying mean things about chri...See there is someone saying mean things about christains but I don't hear tlc defending themAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6925412444274057427.post-67819644805081932532017-11-12T11:52:52.496-06:002017-11-12T11:52:52.496-06:00I think what these two are doing is fantastic. Eve...I think what these two are doing is fantastic. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions on anything debatable so I feel inclined to share my thoughts. Who cares if this charity isn't super huge? All other charities and/or foundations had to start where they are too; at the beginning & at the bottom. Some become overnight successes where others are a work in progress. For the smaller ones, it takes a great deal of time, money, effort & passion for it to grow. I think it's wonderful that Jeremy and Jinger flew out to assist and support Jeremy's mom with this endeavor. Furthermore I think it's brilliant that they used their celebrity status to come meet them. What's so bad about that? Many probably attended the function because they were interested in the topic yet some probably went just to see them in person. Either way, money is being collected & donated from all and the attendees got to experience first hand the mission and goal of this program. I see it as a win-win situation. It actually saddens me to read the negative remarks about something that is created to help children/people. I could be wrong but the negative comments are probably coming from the community of ppl who dislike the Duggars. I myself have always liked them. After watching their very first televised show, I was hooked. I think all of them are an inspiration & instead of judging the family on their faults or mistakes, we should support and thank them for the good that they do. In their own way, they are trying to make the world a better place, and that comforts and makes me happy. To end my long ole rant, first.... this is my first time ever posting to a community online (I usually just read; have never commented until right now). And last, I would appreciate not having any "hate" responses regarding my personal opinion about the family in general. That has been vocalized all over the place for the past couple of years & the topic at hand should be kudos to the Vuolo's for all of their hard work, determination & love for a program created to assist children. I hope it thrives & can can make a hard life worth living. Thanks for listening & to whoever is reading this, have a blessed and awesome day :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6925412444274057427.post-47400112327876143052017-11-11T19:27:30.938-06:002017-11-11T19:27:30.938-06:00Actually, this charity is far more limited to a sm...Actually, this charity is far more limited to a small select group than world-wide outreaches like Smaritan's Purse or Compassion International. I seriously doubt it. So many people who watch the show seem to feel they have the right to criticize what they do with the money they are paid for the show, books, etc. They are giving their time and we don't know what else to contribute to an organization they feel strongly about. Why do you feel that it is necessary to tear down what they are doing because it does not "fit" your efforts or endeavors with whatever you choose to support. There are many organizations that need help & support. Find yours, focus on what you can do and be thankful you can make a difference. Stop the negativity. Being kind is such a joy. When I was reading your post what came to mind is something like the Big Brother and Big Sister program where the children are given a young adult to spend time with and be mentored by. They form lifelong bonds with their mentors in most cases and have most of all they have someone who has come along side of them to help them maneuver through all the hurts and struggles of having a parent or parents who are incarcerated.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
