And "lean not on your own understanding" can also mean to lean not on your parents' understanding and their ways of doing things. Our church, home and school created a "chord of three strands that is not easily broken." We also raised our now adult and married children in the same way - no regrets! My husband has two sisters who home schooled. Their children are socially awkward and quite immature. We have noticed that most of their circle of home schooled friends are also so immature compared to nonhomeschooled children. They do not seem to to able to think for themselves, but are very caught up in following rules that have been indoctrinated into them by their parents since childhood. They are so protected that it actually stunts their ability to mature and often pick up their parent's weaknesses. Kids need to make some mistakes on their own in order to learn from them. They also had difficulty getting into college because they could not pass the entrance exams or score well on SAT's. They attended community college (only college they could get in to) and took 3 1/2 years to complete a 2 year program. In our state, when students graduate from community college, they are automatically accepted into the state university - no matter what their GPA is. This was the only way these homeschoolers could get into a 4 year college. Despite the comment mentioned above, all colleges are NOT "begging" homeschoolers to go to their school. My children said that they could easily pick out the homeschoolers in college - they were the wild and immature ones or the socially awkward ones.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6925412444274057427.post-70383199927461646622014-01-27T19:19:15.555-06:002014-01-27T19:19:15.555-06:00@AnonymousDo your homework, before thou speaketh o...@AnonymousDo your homework, before thou speaketh of what you do not know.:•}Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6925412444274057427.post-13755770589958143522013-12-01T09:22:08.001-06:002013-12-01T09:22:08.001-06:00I think it is absolutely pathetic that these child...I think it is absolutely pathetic that these children are not given the opportunity to attend college. My kids got GED's to make a country change move easier as the country we are moving to recognizes a GED as an equal to a HS diploma. They both had 3.2 GPA's upon graduation and each completed their education a year early and were already using college textbooks in our homeschool! Only the USA seems to looks down on the GED as a lesser form of diploma. My kids were taking their tests with people much older who still had not passed the GED so it isn't as easy as many thing and they had no special prep because they were too young to take prep classes!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6925412444274057427.post-6828526339901535082013-11-17T15:55:14.186-06:002013-11-17T15:55:14.186-06:00@Stephanie from Virginia

Though born in the USA, as a military brat I grew up overseas until my last year in high school. My father sent me back to the USA to graduate from an American military boarding school. The school was fine, but the only thing which kept me going with no family there or after graduation was my faith in God and His promise that He would not put us into any situation which we could not overcome with Him. That was 42 years ago. Throughout these many years, through military actions, multiple jobs and layoffs, illnesses, and other life experiences, God has always provided exactly what I needed at the exact right moment. I may have liked Him to come through a little sooner for my personal comfort, but I have always had the faith that God would provide, and He has. Never let this world dictate what you should believe. Stand by God's Word and His Promises and He will be with you always.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
