Joseph Duggar Released on Bond

Joseph Duggar was extradited to Florida over the weekend and then released on bond following a hearing this morning. In addition to setting Joseph's bond at $600,000, the judge also ordered him to have no unsupervised visits with minors and to return to court on April 20th. He also must refrain from contacting his victim. KARK news out of Little Rock, Arkansas, uploaded a video of Joseph's remote court appearance

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar released a short statement via their family spokesperson, in which they say that they are heartbroken.

  1. I use to love watching the Duggar family on TLC when they first came on television. But now this family is really starting to disgust me, their true colors are now showing. If Joseph is found guilty I hope they put him away for a long time.

    1. Joe supposedly "confessed" to someone in the victim's family so I don't know why there would be a trial. If that's true, then aj udge would just hand down a sentence. Guess we'll see what happens next.

    2. They will find him guilty, because he made incriminating statements on the phone to the victims father and the detective, and his own wife.

    3. Everyone is entitled to a fair trial. The lawyer may try to throw out that admission of guilt over the phone. Depends on how it was handled, it he had been read his rights, if he knew he was being taped, if he knew there was someone else on the line and so on. He's changed his plea to not guilty.

  2. Heartbroken, but never sorry, never responsible, never introspective, never wrong.

  3. Are they sure this is a good idea? I sure don't!

  4. Released on bond, have NO contact with minors, can't leave the state of Florida. What a sad life. You reap what you sow. Unfortunately, this is the best it'll be for the rest of his life.

    1. @2:30 He can and did leave Florida that afternoon. Wasted no time having Jim Bob take him home. His contact with minors is to be supervised. Nobody in court said who that supervision could or couldn't be so the sky's the limit.

  5. Yes, they are so heart broken that they couldn't wait to bail him out and return him to the streets.

    1. 6:55 I agree with you. It's not a good look but what did you expect.

    2. @6:55am I believe they are very heartbroken! Do think parents that are HEARTBROKEN over their son breaking the law by his evil sinful actions should turn their back on their son? I would hope that if you are a parent you would never turn your back on your child.

  6. I can just imagine who his "supervisors" will be around minor children.

    1. That''s a bit scary as no one pays any attention to what he's DOING.

    2. It will have to go through the court who will be his supervisors.

  7. What a fine time for the Duggars to ask for privacy. I recall when they wanted you to watch their TV shows, buy all their books, read their blogs, attend the camps where they were speaking, pay to hear their daughters give talks, and buy all the products their daughters get paid to use. Now they want privacy. OK. I'm not sure how you have it both ways though.

  8. I am extremely disappointed in Florida. What happened to their “strictest” laws in the nation regarding CSA? This is totally a slap in the face to all child victims.

    1. Patience, 9:33. He is not on trial yet. He's "innocent until proven guilty" and there was nothing to keep him from being released on bond. First time offender, non-violent crime, no threat to public (in the court's eyes at this point) - all sorts of reasons why bond is granted. Bond was set high, but obviously it was no obstacle. He was also given no-contact orders. If he violates those, there goes being out on bond. I know it's frustrating to see people walk out of jail before trial, but those are the rules. Let's see what happens next. He's not off the hook. He could still find out what Florida's laws are all about.

    2. 4:27. I dare say child CSA is, in fact, a violent crime. CSA is one of the most violent crimes anyone can commit.

    3. There is no greater act of violence against a child than CSA. This release on bond is an abomination.

  9. Praying for the entire extended family. We raised 10 children, 5 bio and 5 adopted from foster care. We have experienced much heartache from some of our children. We raised them in a godly home. My husband is a pastor. We gave all of them love, teaching, and every opportunity to follow the Lord Jesus and walk with Him. Some chose to live for God; others chose the wrong path. That does not make us bad parents. Each person answers to God for their actions and choices. Society wants to place blame on the parents, but the individual is responsible for his or her actions once they are adults. Will continue to pray for the young victim and all others touched by what has happened.

    1. I don't know if this was a remark to say it doesn't mean Joseph's parents are bad. They most certainly are as they bailed him out. He confessed to a lot of people already since he was jailed.

    2. @11:35am So true, I agree! If an adult child chooses to do wrong, it is NOT the parents fault and I would add it is NOT their siblings fault either. Judge a person by their own deeds not by what their child or sibling has done!

    3. 11:35 As a parent and grandparent, I get that there are no guarantees when it comes to parenting, whether you're religious or not. However, it's the stunning level of Duggar hypocrisy that is a glaring problem for many of us. They presented themselves on a reality show as a perfect god-fearing family and this was AFTER Josh was first caught fondling his sisters. (The Megan Kelly interview was a desperate attempt to minimize what he'd done and put the victims on the hot-seat, while Josh himself was present.) Josh then went on to have a huge family of his own and even did a stint as a spokesperson for the Family Research Council, preaching to others about traditional family values. He was then caught in the Ashley Madison scandal, and then later convicted of possessing CASM material. To no one's surprise, his dad has worked feverishly to get him off. Fortunately, it didn't pay off and the justice system is holding him accountable. Now, another Duggar son has been charged. No doubt, Jim Bob will do the same for Joseph.

  10. 11:35 Thank you for sharing your true painful life experiences . I don’t think people understand that children can all be raised in a Godly home, yet choices as teenagers or adults can vary …children aren’t puppets, they make their own choices. I can count on my one hand how many children from Godly family.. pastors, singers who have murdered family members this last year, that I know of. With 19 kids, let’s concentrate on the successful ones, who are going through heartbreak with this latest revelation.

    2. @4:01 What are you saying, that as parents you should throw up your hands, keep claiming that your home was godly, and do nothing when your teenage or adult children are troubled? I can't count on both hands how many kids do the worst things imaginable after parents have given up trying. It's in the news daily.

  11. This is unacceptable. That Florida judge has no business on the bench. And if I had a son that did and confessed to what he did, he would be sitting in jail. This is messed up.

    1. 4:46. You must not be following the news.. we have many illegals who have committed murder, rape, etc. and are let out in some states(California one) with no bail. They should not even be in the country and few return to court to face justice or be deported. Posting a $600,000.00 bail is high, in any standard.

  12. Surely Jim Bob and Michelle can do better than that statement. Joe's victim needs justice not lip service from them. Why don't they see to that?

  13. Duggars still bailing out their kids.

  14. Should this blog still be called The Duggar family “fan” blog? I think they’ve lost a lot of their fans, for good reason. I think it’s more like The Duggar family curiosity blog at this point

  15. So.. where is Joseph staying now? Can’t be at big house will so many minor children in and out there. Almost all of the married siblings have minor children. Will he stay in his own home alone or will Kendra move back in with him?
