Hi blog readers! We hope you are all doing well. We wanted to jump on to highlight a video that Jill and Derick Dillard recently uploaded to their YouTube channel. Their YouTube videos are few and far between, so you definitely won't want to miss this one. It is a "day in the life" video, narrated by Jill. In it, they reveal that they are homeschooling Israel Dillard, who just turned 10, and Samuel Dillard, who turns eight in July. Freddy Dillard will be three years old in July.

I am so disappointed to hear that they went back to homeschooling!
ReplyDeleteDon't criticize homeschooling! I do it and I have a very smart and socialized kid. It IS possible you know...
DeleteAbsolutely! Homeschooling is a huge blessing!
DeleteGlad to see the Dillard's doing well. I was surprised to hear they had gone to home schooling, funny she didn't explain the reason. I laughed when she said, " this angle isn't very flattering...no I'm not pregnant". Bust days for their family.
ReplyDeleteBusy, organized family..nice to see the boys doing swimming lessons. . Looks like the boys are super disciplined, to follow along with learning through the homeschooling videos. Headphones great idea to keep focused. I’m sure there are many homeschool groups in your area to enjoy for field trips and other social outlets.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how you can go out for a run/walk yet you have to go to the chiro because you're still suffering from the car accident. Seems you'd avoid pounding pavement if you were in that condition. Seems you'd be at an ortho doc and PT instead. I wonder if the insurance company of the person who rear-ended them is watching that video?
ReplyDeleteOh my, how critical. I was in a serious accident years ago, and besides PT I continued to walk regularly, as advised by the doctor.
Delete@2:32 It's true that some people "inflate" injuries and doctor visits when someone else's insurance company is paying the claims. Yet when the doctors aren't looking, they do whatever they want. Not saying Jill is pulling this, but it sure looks odd that they're out running around yet say they still need doctor visits and adjustments. Jill should have explained better.
DeleteWIISH YOU WOULD UP DATE ALL THE PHOTOS NAMES BIRTHDAYS ANNIVERSARIES AND NUMBER COUNT ON KIDS PLUS GRANDKIDS AS WELL AS PETS HOBBIES AND TRUE LOCATIONS - yes it seems like I am yelling but I wanted seem!!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget Ellie has her own blog and the Bates and 3 little ones be patient with her please. She can see it without the capital letters too.
DeleteNot sure what you mean by true locations, but if it's where they live or take the kids, for their personal safety I don't think that should be shared. Not all people have good intentions unfortunately.
DeleteThere is only so much room for the header at the top of the page....the family has kind of outgrown it. Perhaps a photo page makes more sense.
DeleteIs that how home schooling is done these days?
ReplyDeleteThe beauty of homeschooling is the parents get the freedom to decide what is best for their family in that given timeframe!
DeleteNo, only the lazy parents put their children in front of videos all day.
Delete@11:04 I'm sure Jill is hands on for some of their lessons. Kind of unfair to judge by a quick peek at their daily routine.
Delete11:04. It’s been said that lazy parents drop their kids off at public school, and don’t put any effort to plan for their child’s daily learning. It’s a matter of opinion, for sure. Who said they were in front of a computer all day? I observed one of the children using rulers on the floor to apparently solve math problems. The learning time in front of the computer is equal to the learning time kids would have with the teacher explaining the lessons and the school kids will get their computer and complete lessons.
Delete@SCz That is a double-edged sword. It can also give parents the "freedom" to neglect a lot of the curriculum that would be otherwise taught at public school. I'm not talking about anything political or "woke" or what have you. I'm talking about certain subjects or areas of study that parents could omit if they weren't interested. For instance, my own parents would never have thought to expose me to a certain science subject that rapidly sparked my interest and led to my college study, title, and job, the way public school did. My parents were not interested in science themselves and didn't have the physical resources the school had to teach it (specialized classrooms, labs, machinery, textbooks, mentors, etc.). This is why people have to question homeschooling sometimes. Is it really best? Are you really putting your child on his her OWN right track (not yours)? I've watched Duggar homeschooling from the get-go, and am now watching the outcome of it. It seems to prepare boys to operate heavy equipment or to sell real estate and cars, and prepare girls to marry and produce children. I certainly hope Jill breaks that pattern with her boys, for the sake of everyone's future.
DeleteJill indicated that this was a typical day "in the life"..included swim lessons, schooling etc., but I didn't see any mention made about shower/bath time. Do these people not bathe every day? If a typical day, why was Derrick home and not at work at work at the office? I am sorry to see that they switched to homeschooling. It seemed that Israel thoroughly enjoyed being in school with his classmates. Am I wrong? Please explain. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteDerick recently changed jobs. Maybe that's it. Depends on when this was filmed.
Delete@7:12 Perhaps because you don't need to see them bathing? I'm sure they take showers
DeleteIt's all their choice. The videos or pictures were a sampling from more than one day.
DeleteNot being snarky but if you gave everyone a day in your life would you share that you had a shower or bath?
DeleteFor most of the Duggar girls, doing their hair and makeup daily is a big thing, so you'd think that might have been mentioned. They've vlogged it many times. Plus most families pop kids in the tub after supper and before bedtime. Maybe they thought swimming counted as a bath?
Delete9:31,good point. Lol 🙃
DeleteI, for certain, would not SHOW baths, etc. but bath time/shower time would be mentioned as part of their typical day. Derrick left the DA's office? Is he in private practice now or solo practice? Anyone know? I wish him good luck with his endeavors.
ReplyDeleteToo bad they went back to homeschooling. It's more convenient for Jill, of course - no getting up early, no dropping kids at school, no packing lunches... But also they might not agree with what is taught to kids in school. Arkansas is quite conservative,. but still you can't control everything that is put in your kid's head.
ReplyDeleteHa. Homeschool moms spend a lot of time being involved with their kids' education. And still have to get them up and ready for the day. And drive them to field trips and music lessons and parks and libraries and friends' homes. And make them lunch every day. And keep up with a house and laundry and paying bills and sometimes working another job themselves. It's not "convenient."
DeleteIt takes a well organized, disciplined bright mother to home school..obviously Jill and Derrick are up to it. One nice thing about homeschooling is it doesn’t have a time assignment, allowing some teaching for after dinner. Derrick has a degree in business, being an accountant, as well as receiving another degree and becoming a lawyer, he is overly qualified to teach his boys math and science classes, and high tech lessons. He is much more qualified than the average teacher.
