  1. I feel so sorry for that poor baby girl.
I hope this is the last child Anna has with Josh.
May this baby be loved and have a good life.

    1. I am thankful that God is in the redeeming business, or none of us would be worthy of His grace. Jesus came to the world with a plan to bring mercy over judgement.

    2. If Anna has common sense this is her last child.

    4. Anon 9:15 I don't think anyone doubts for a second that God is in the redeeming business but what does that have to do with this situation? Josh isn't asking for forgiveness, he is denying that he did anything wrong and is accusing others of using his laptop to blame them and to let them take the punishment. His wife is surrounded by people who only encourage her and praise her for her ability to allow this kind of abuse in her and her children's life as if that is a sign that she is a Godly mother and wife. What kind of man could cause and then watch the brokenness of his wife and be ok with this? What would you say to your daughter if she was in this horrible situation? God in His mercy tells us clearly in His Word that we are free from any spouse that commits adultery let alone child pornography crimes. We don't win more favor or more love from God by allowing these crimes against ourselves and others to go on. If the abuser wants redemption from God THEY are responsible to ask and attain that from God, but that doesn't mean the people and children they abused have to stay any longer in the nightmare the abuser has created in their lives. They are Free and not under bondage to abuse. Remember Josh isn't asking for redemption, he is blaming others for his sins.

    5. In order to receive mercy from God, one has to be willing to honestly confront their sin and be repentant, not just say they are. Jesus didn't die a gruesome death on the cross, so that people could continue in their sin. Repentance is being sorrowfully broken over your sin and what it cost God and Jesus AND turning from that sin and going a different way. There's no redemption without repentance-it cost Jesus and God too much.

    6. 9:15 In the meantime, I'm thankful that we have a court system that will prosecute and incarcerate those who commit crimes against children.

    3. Anon 9.33. I agree the name seems somewhat inappropriate & a constant reminder to Anna of Josh’s misdemeanour. Also think the reveal of the birth was timed in the hope of gaining some sympathy & showing Josh as a family man just before his trial, when in fact the baby is almost a month old already. Well I’m sorry but nothing shows him in a good light, not even that beautiful innocent child. Let’s hope she has a good life & her father has little involvement. I also hope Anna eventually sees Josh for the monster he is & this is her last child with him. God bless this beautiful baby & may she be guided through life in all the right ways.

  8. Madyson Lily is a nice name, but a very surprising choice for Josh & Anna. I hope they considered the connection to Ashley Madison & how this connection will feel to Madyson once she's old enough to understand. I doubt she'll have any issue while she's a kid, since Madyson is a common enough name & she'll probably go by Maddy anyway. But I think the name choice places an unfair burden on little Madyson - she (obviously) had nothing to do with Josh's infidelity, but she's wearing the scarlet letter for him by sharing a name with the website.

    1. IMO, it just shows how her denial is real here. It almost seems like a joke. Don't they think that these kids might search the internet one day? This little girl is cursed with this name.

      Delete
    2. I agree with those who think the name is not appropriate given the circumstances. It's a tone deaf move on the parents' part and even with the spelling changed, that name will forever be associated with the huge transgression her father made and how he made it. Certainly there were other more appropriate M names to consider. When I first saw it I thought it was a fake announcement and that someone had hacked their account, that's how flabbergasted I was.

  15. It's tough to know what to say. I'm glad baby Madyson Lily is here and healthy, but it is a family going through unimaginable turmoil and crisis right now, and it's got to be really hard on Anna and new baby. Baby has probably been feeling the stress from inside the womb. There was a news story here a couple of weeks ago of a man sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison for possession of child porn, so hopefully Josh doesn't get 20 or 40 years. Prison for sure yes, but psychiatric help more than anything. He should never have unsupervised time with his children. There is very little chance that he'll ever be cured of such an addiction. Anna has a tough road ahead of her.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Madyson? Somehow substituting a y for an i doesn't detract from the awful association Josh has with a website of the same name. I cannot fathom what they were thinking in making this choice. Also, the timing of this announcement three weeks after the birth to coincide with the pretrial hearing tomorrow is suspect. Perhaps they think it will garner sympathy of some sort. If so, it only demonstrates that Josh has been taught well how to exploit his own children for personal advantage. My heart breaks for the kids. They didn't ask for this train wreck.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. When you take away that I and put a Y, it's not pronounced like Madison. Although some people do that to make a unique spelling for Madison, it's not actually pronounced Mady-son. It's different.

      Delete
    2. Yes, a few days ago I submitted to this blog that the baby had been born weeks ago and that the Duggars were timing the birth announcement to take the attention away from Josh's trial. It looks like that was correct.
She's a beautiful, healthy baby. I hope Anna is recovering from the birth.
Unfortunately, the baby's name leaves a haunting reminder over this family. I hate to blame Anna because I believe she is innocent in all this but, honestly, what was she thinking??

      Delete
    3. The baby was not conceived to take attention away from the trial. They kept her birth private for a while because of people like you. Everything these Duggars do people think its a vendetta behind it.

      Delete
    4. First let me say, I'm grateful to God that the baby arrived safely and in good health (and trust Anna is healthy post-partum). I hope Anna is doing well and the children are adjusting well with the new baby. Secondly, they've had 21 days to announce her birth-they knew the pre-trial hearing was tomorrow. I'm just going to go ahead and call it a manipulation-distraction attempt on their part (God please forgive me if I'm wrong). But who does that? If they kept it a "secret" for 3 weeks, they could certainly have waited 3 more days to announce it, after the pre-trial hearing. If anyone thinks a judge or jury are going to go easier on Josh because of his children or because his wife has 6 children and a new baby at home to care for, they're sadly mistaken. Not sure what their motivation was or who may be advising them, but the timing isn't a good look.

    9. Maydson was the original spelling and than later it got switched to Madyson but people pronounced wrong and used it as variation for Madison which became more popular. Duggars are known to give their kids unique and sometimes weird names. It probably is like Maydson.

    8. 8:34, where do you get this knowledge? I googled the pronunciation and all I am seeing is that it is an alternate spelling to Madison. And even if it were pronounced differently, it still looks like Madison, which is bad enough. And pronouncing it like Mason, which they already have, is also a bad idea. The kids wouldn't know who was being called.

  30. She’s a beautiful baby as are all of Anna’s children. I have to admit that it seems a bit tone deaf to saddle her with that name when it’s the same name(different spelling) of the cheating site that Josh was involved with when they lived in D.C. Not sure whose idea it was but I hope she doesn’t get taunted in the future.

    2. 8:33 Yes it is, no matter how many times you post otherwise. And even if it was pronounced differently, that doesn't make it a better choice than Madison. The child would have to constantly correct people about the "correct" pronunciation, which will only add attention to Josh's connection to "Madison". There are so many other nice names they could have chosen and spared this child shame.

A lot of people even google searches will tell you it's a variant of Madison and originally it's not. People have used this variation for Madison. Sadly they ended up naming their kid Maid-Son. Not Madison. It's a feminine version of Mason except the girl version means obeying christ.

    3. If they wanted it pronounced "Maid-son", they should have spelled it "Maidson". Changing the "i" to "y" doesn't change the pronunciation at all. I'm baffled why they chose this name with lots of other "M" girls' names available.
I feel like Josh and Anna are thumbing their noses at our laws.

    4. I am something of a name nerd, so I went searching online for Madyson pronounced "maid-son" after reading you comment. I can't find anything for the name Madyson that says anything except it being a spelling variation of Madison. I did, however, find some occurrences of the name "Maydson" which would be pronounced "maid-son" as you suggest.
Josh & Anna's baby girl is named Madyson, not Maydson. The placement of the Y definitely affects the pronunciation. They also have a history of using Y's to make unique spellings for their girl names (Mackynzie, Maryella). So it's safe to guess that Madyson Duggar's name is being pronounced "Madison".

    5. I know right. People was to quick to jump but it's not technically their fault because people do use it as a variation for Madison and they don't know its not actually pronounced the same.

    10. I have been an elementary school librarian for 29 years. I have had at least 10 students named “Madyson” as a unique spelling of Madison - ALL pronounced like Madison!

      Delete
    11. To be honest any normal person would look at that name and pronounce it just as Madison, not Maid-y-son like you're so adamantly trying to prove.

      Delete
    12. Even if that's the case, that is not how 99% of the world is going to read it when they see it...not to mention this child is going to spend the rest of her life correcting people on the pronunciation of her name. Unfortunately, Madyson has been a widely used, commonly accepted "creative spelling" for Madison worldwide for years now. It's their child to name of course, but I really wish they would have named her Melody (meaning lyrical) or Mariana (meaning grace). Everyone who meets her is going to automatically call her Madison-how frustrating for her. Given the circumstances, that name is going to call to mind other things for most people, sadly enough- how awful for her.

      Delete
    13. Why are you the only person who seems to know this alternate pronunciation?

    16. 8:43 You're really stretching it here and you can't change the obvious impression and association when people first see the name. If the spelling and pronunciation of Madyson requires a complicated explanation such as yours, It's a name that should be avoided under any circumstances. BTW, I looked up the name- it means "warrior" and it is pronounced Madison.

    17. If a lot of people tell you it's a version of Madison, what makes you think Josh and Anna didn't use it as a version of Madison? Besides, it's still only one letter away from the problematic Madison no matter how you pronounce it.

      Delete
    18. If the y came before the d then I would be inclined to agree. Doesn’t make sense otherwise.

      Delete
    19. Why does it matter what the origin was? What matters is how the parents choose to pronounce it, and as far as I know they did not include a pronunciation guide with the birth announcement. Therefore rather than correcting people, wait until we hear family saying the name.

  36. I would not have chosen the name Madyson given the connection Josh has with the website. I also wonder about the spelling with the Y getting confused with Maryella, and both beginning with letters M A. There are so many other good M names. Meghan, Morgan, Melissa, etc, etc. I had thought also of Millicent, meaning strength, with the nickname "Millie". It is also associated with the number 7. Having said that, this little girl will need lots of love. Hopefully, she will get it as well as a lot of support from her big family. All the best to her and may she have a wonderful life.

  41. There are so many lovely "M" names for girls. Why choose this one? And she was born a month before her father is going to trial for some very serious charges. Poor innocent baby doesn't deserve a name that is a constant reminder of Josh's past, and why would her parents want that either?

  42. What on earth? Has Anna lost her mind? She can't be thinking clearly to have chosen this name. And I can't imagine that Joshua would want it either. Why didn't anyone in their family help them see how wrong this is, since they apparently don't see it for themselves? It must be a fake name to get people talking and to get them to stop asking questions about the birth, with the trial coming up. That has to be it. I'll bet she has an entirely different name than this.

    1. 11:31 If they have announced a fake name, that is terrible. A very sick sense of humor!

    2. If this is a joke, it's cruel and makes them look like terrible people. And it certainly isn't going to get people to stop talking about the baby.

      Delete
    3. They posted a lie about their child to get people to STOP talking? What awesome parents.

      Delete
    4. I don't think they would have chosen Madyson for a fake name.

      Delete
    5. I doubt it's a "fake name". Who knows why they chose the name though. Bad vibes IMO

      Delete
    6. Or they could ask their kids how they wanted to name the new baby, and the kids came up with this name.

      Delete
    7. That would be bizarre.

  49. For the people saying it's pronounced differently than Madison, are you sure you're not confusing it with Maydson, which WOULD be pronounced like Maid-son. If it is actually pronounced that way, then they're sentencing their child to a lifetime of being called the wrong name, which I'm not sure is any better. Since it definitely looks like it has three distinct syllables, Mad-y-son, and looks like the similar name, it's definitely going to confuse people if that alternate pronunciation was their intention. I'm not sure I've ever heard of a silent Y in the middle of a word. I guess we'll hopefully find out at some point, but it sure looks like Mad-y-son to me! Wishing them all well, but definitely not ideal circumstances for newborn life!

  50. Wow. That's bad karma no matter how you slice it. I'm surprised that Anna was willing to go there.

  52. Posting her baby’s photo at the reading of the motions of her husbands CP trial and naming her baby after the website her husband used to cheat on her. I have lost every last bit of sympathy or respect I felt for Anna. Just wow!

And despite the die hards on here, I have been a fan from their docuseries days and continue to watch all the seasons of 19 kids and counting on and follow many of their instagrams, but if you all don’t think this is deplorable, you’re just as bad!!! Using their sweet newborn gift as vice to cover her daddy’s transgressions. Just wow!!!

  53. The psychogenealogist in me loves this one :-) The elephant in the room is getting bigger. The Ashley Madison episode was/is a trauma that runs through the whole family, hence the names Mason, Addison Renee (= reborn), and now "in-your-face" Madyson, but with a "y/why". Why this name for the baby? Because although all is done to put on a happy face in the family and especially Josh and Anna's family, the enormity of Josh's deeds can't but burst to the surface. The denial is as big as the Freudian slip.

  54. I was just in complete shock with their name choice. I don’t know how they could have possibly thought that this made any sense at all. That poor sweet baby girl. There are so many other names. Megan, Melissa, Moriah, Miranda, Melia, Matilda, Margaret, Maizey, Marlena, Melody, Molly, Maren, Marissa, Mercy, Macey, Marley, Mindy, Mildred, Morgan, Melanie, Maria, Marcia, Maven, Mirina, Milly, Maelyn, Misti, Maude, Meisha, Mona, Mia.

  56. What?!?! They seriously named her that?? Why would they do that?! Poor baby girl!

  57. Omgosh! You guys live in a pool of toxicity!! Drop the name association!!
The name is beautiful!! The baby is beautiful!! And...CONGRATULATIONS to the Duggar family!!!

  58. Even if the name is pronounced different from Madison, people are going to call her Madison because of the spelling. If they wanted to call her Maid-son like someone said, why didn't they spell it w/o the "y" where it is, or spell it Maydson, Maedson, or even maidson; spell it like it sounds?

  59. Thank-you Lily and Ellie for posting this. Congratulations and love for the birth of this beautiful innocent child. To all those who posted negative and critical comments, shame on you. You make your choices and let them make theirs. Josh made bad choices and he must face the consequences but Madyson Lily is an innocent child and should not be burdened by the sins of the father.

  60. CONGRATULATIONS ANNA!! ON YOUR PERCIOUS NEW BABY:) Such a beautiful name;) Many prayers are being said for you! We all love you and pray for the best 💙

  61. The original name Madyson is pronounced like May-d-son. It's wasn't a variation of Madison until people started making it that way. Madyson was the girl version of Mason. For short it's pronounce like Made. I know it's confusing and really it should be spelled Maydson. It would make a lot more sense and people wouldn't had used Madyson as a variation. I am assuming the original is what they are going for and not Madison.

  62. Maybe she's taking a name that before was tied to so much sadness and turning it into something that brings her joy and peace. Anna is so great at taking a bad situation and turning it into something beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  63. No matter how they pronounce her name, one has to wonder WHY???

    ReplyDelete
  64. No, no. It’s not Madison as in Ashley Madison. It’s MadYson. The “y” makes it really different so people don’t confuse it with Josh’s Madison connection.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Why would they be so cruel as to name that beautiful, innocent child Madyson?

  66. Sweet little baby…so innocent in this mess.
I’ve been curious as to where Anna’s parents have been and are they emotionally supporting her/grandchildren? What does her father think of Josh now (so giddy to have his daughter marry a Duggar way back)?

  67. While I understand everyone’s comments about the child’s name… just remember as you’re making your comments… this little girl who will (God willing) grow up into a young woman and possibly run across this blog and your comments… just keep that in mind. If you truly feel for her, show it by remaining as respectful as possible. She is a human being, regardless of her parents, her dads actions etc. She is a baby girl who has a whole life ahead of her… just like the rest of us.

  68. Congratulations to Anna and family. Love the name, Madyson. Did you negative comments look up the meaning of Madyson?

    Origin:British
    Popularity:3002
    Meaning:son of the mighty warrior
Madyson as a gir's name has English origins. The meaning of Madyson is "son of the mighty warrior". Is related to the name Madison.

Regardless of the scandal, from years ago, this is Anna and Joshua's child. Anna didn't need to display any news, she probably had to because of Jim Bob announcing running for State.

  69. Congratulations to the family! I am glad to hear that both Mom and baby are doing well.

  70. Love the name Madyson lily, but it doesn't really belong in their family, considering Josh's past behaviours.

  71. Thank you Lily and Ellie for sharing this news. Despite the circumstances and uncertain future for Josh,I hope Maddy will get to know her father whether her dad goes to jail or not. Hope Josh got to be present for his daughter's birth and support Anna while she was in labor. Was it another home birth or did she opt for a hospital birth this time? Praying for the family and what's ahead for them with the trial and no matter what happens, may God's Will be done. Please share a few pictures of Maddy and her parents and siblings together on the blog. Sad that there was not a picture of her here on the blog and I don't have an Instagram account(or any social media account for that matter).

  72. It doesn't matter if they pronounce it Maid-son...it is WAY too close to "Madison" considering their history. Why even go there? Think of that poor child's future. No matter what Josh and Anna's explanation is in regards to the name, Madyson is still often pronounced "Madison."

    ReplyDelete

    1. No, it's about what the name meaning actually is and of course people are going to link it to Madison just to berate them. They would had found something wrong with the name Morgan too.

  73. Very pretty name, though a strange choice in this particular situation. Maybe they let the kids pick the name? That would explain it. The name has "y", same as Mackynzie and Maryella. But why Lily? They usually use Grace, Hope, Faith for middle names. Or something meaningful. Lily could be really just their kids choice.

    1. Lily means purity and innocence. Maybe they are trying to say something with that.

    2. Lily is most likely an honor name for Anna's mom Lillie Suzette (she goes by Suzette).

  74. Wonderful baby made it safe and is healthy. This name was not on my list of guesses but Madyson Lily is an okay name in general (personally i would not have chosen it in Anna's situation; no matter how it is pronounced).

  75. You know, I didn't make the connection until I read these comments. People who follow closely probably noticed but I don't think everyone will notice or remember Ashley Madison. As for Anna, I have wondered how much she knew beyond there is a scandal and someone is claiming Josh cheated on her. Congratulayions on a healthy baby girl!

    1. Someone is claiming he cheated? He was exposed as an Ashley Madison website player! People use it for one reason only... to hook up! Furthermore, Josh admitted to his infidelity and addiction to P once he was found out!

      Delete
    2. Josh was outed as an Ashley Madison subscriber, along with many others. He admitted to betraying Anna. I she wasn't fully aware of this, she's got her head buried deeper in the sand than I thought and there's little hope of digging her out.

  77. I am not baffled by the name, I am baffled by how many people in the world think they named the child Madyson (as in Madison) when in reality its pronounced like Madeson. It's suppose to be a feminine version of Mason but MADE-SON to me still sounds masculine. So yeah, if you or a daughter is name Madyson (pronounced like Madison), you are actually originally Madeson. A lot of people don't know that's suppose to be the original way to pronounce. I hope that is what Anna's intention was for this.

    ReplyDelete

    1. After you have a conversation with Anna about the pronunciation of this child's name, please come back and let us know how she pronounces it. In the mean time Madyson still definitely sounds like Madison.

      Delete
    2. I could understand MADE-son if it were spelled Madyson, with the Y before the D. But it is not. It is Madyson, and that is like Madison. Phonetics.

      Delete
    3. Guess what, names change over time and language is fluid. And unless you personally know how they are pronouncing her name, your point may be moot.

      Delete
    4. Continuing to post this theory isn't going to convince us that somehow this is ok. People DO use Madyson as an alternate spelling for Madison, people ARE going to think of the unfortunate connection when they see her name. Period.

      Delete
    5. Just because it was the original pronunciation does not mean that is how people use it today.

      Delete
    6. Please share the source of this knowledge. Thanks

    7. I'm baffled as to why you are going to such lengths to defend the name. Madyson or Madison, it is like a glaring neon reminder of Josh's cheating. You're having a hard time convincing anyone of this Made-son pronunciation. A quick Google search says you're wrong.

      Delete
    8. I did some name research yesterday after seeing a similar comment. I believe you are thinking of the name Maydson. Very similar, but the placement of the Y definitely changes the pronunciation. Josh & Anna's baby girl is Madyson, not Maydson. They also have a history of using extra Y's to make unique spellings for their girl names (Mackynzie, Maryella) without that changing the pronunciation. It's safe to guess that baby Madyson's name is being pronounced like Madison.

      Delete
    9. I am baffled by not understanding that parents choose the spelling AND pronunciation of a child's name. If Josh and Anna chose Made-son, then that's how it's pronounced. If they chose Mad-i-son, then that's how it's pronounced. Have you heard them audibly pronounce the child's name? Besides, just because one way was the original way does not mean that is how it is always going to be pronounced. I think you have made your point with all the posts, now listen to what others are saying about how Madyson can be and is pronounced a different way.

      Delete
  78. You guys this might not actually be pronounced Madison. Google has a rep of putting meanings behind names that are not even true. It's probably like Maydeson. I know a few women with that name. I don't think they be that stupid to name their daughter Madison. Who knows... Maydeson Lily actually sounds prettier. Madison Lily sounds like a medicine company.
