  1. Aww,they sure are delighted with their newborn you can tell, and as I suspected they gave her an old fashioned and uncommon name like Felicity,I like the name Evangeline, she looks just like Jeremy, well that usually happens when the first looks like one parent the second looks like the other and Felicity looks like mom except for dad's eyes, she's a beauty!

  2. Congratulations to Jinger, Jeremy,
and big sister, Felicity! Welcome Evangeline Jo to this crazy world.

Well, I had the "Jo" correct, not knowing Jeremy's middle name was Joseph. I thought Amelia Jo might be her name. I wonder if they will call her Vangie for short.

  4. What a beautiful name! I've always liked it, though it isn't very common.

  5. So exciting! Just curious if anyone knows why they chose the name that they did? Since so many people guessed the name Evangeline in the comments of a recent blog post, just wondering if I missed something that everyone knew already?

    1. They were asked about names in the Us weekly interview, but they didn't say much. Just that they had met a young girl with the name, and I think they said it was an uncommon name.

  7. What sort of nickname is Evangeline going to morph into, if Felicity turned into Lissy? Line? Vannie? Evan?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Vajojo? That’s a nice nick name. Rhymes with their last name.

      Delete
    2. Lissy is quite common for Felicity. For Evangeline it's usually Eve, Evie. Maybe Angie. Some go with Gigi. But then Jinger's name sounds very similar to Gigi, I think they might not want call the baby like this. Probably Evie.

    3. A friend’s daughter is a Evangeline but she’s called Evie.

      Delete
    4. Anon 10.55. How about shortened to Eva or Evie ? Or even Lena ? It really depends on what her parents feel suit her as a shortened version. Evangeline is a beautiful name but I know what you mean about it getting shortened into something. Both my children have short names & still get called other versions. My son is Scott but often gets Scotty, & my daughter Emma is always called Em by her brother. So it doesn’t seem to matter how short a name you have it can still be shortened. The new baby is gorgeous though & I hope Jinger is fit & well. She certainly looks like a happy healthy mummy.

      Delete
    5. Often people use the nickname Lena

      Delete
    6. In Greece, they shorten it to 'Evi'.

      Delete
    7. I'm thinking it won't be Evie since that is the name Joy's daughter Evelyn is going by. Maybe Eva or Vangie or Lena.

      Delete
    8. I think they’ll call her angie

      Delete
    9. @ 9:06. Please..., no. Not at good nickname.

      Delete
    10. Maybe Leelee for Evangeline, so it would be Leelee and Lissy

      Delete
    11. Not sure they'll call her Evie since Joy and Austin call little Evelyn "Evie"

      Delete
    12. Evie, Evy, and Ivy!!!

      Delete
    13. Why give your child a long name if you're only going to shorten it all the time?

      Delete
    14. Because the longer names are prettier. The world would be boring with only nicknames. My child has a long name and we use it.

      Delete
    15. @12:57. I could not agree more! I hate whrn people name their kids something awful and use a cute nickname. I don’t understand why they won’t just use the cute nickname. For example, Josie was named Josie instead of Josephine. Josie is way better.

  8. She's as cute as can be. Congratulations!πŸ’ŸπŸ’ŸπŸ’Ÿ

  12. Evangeline Jo... how precious! Welcome, little girl!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Sorry don’t like the name

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Not a fan of it either. They're bound to shorten it to something else because no parent is going to use all 4 syllables all the time, especially not when in a hurry and calling for a kid.

      Delete
    2. I don't like the name either. It's bigger than she is. It'll take her ages to learn to spell it.

      Delete
    3. I like one or two syllable names.

      Delete
    4. I use my daughter's full name every time. She does not have a shortened version and never has. That's completely absurd to say no parent will actually use their child's real name.

      Delete
    5. I like "Evangeline" a lot, but "Jo" ruins the charm of it. The two names don't go well together. She sure is a pretty baby, though.

      Delete
    6. 11:34, I agree.

      Delete
    7. I agree, Debbie. I'm not a fan of boring middle names, and especially when it doesn't match the feel of the first name.

      Delete
    8. Oh i know. It is beyond awful. They will probably try and use Evie or something like that. So then why not just have named her Evie? That is a huge pet peeve. Why name a baby something terrible and call it something better?

      Delete
  14. Congratulations! Mouthful of a name though!

  15. Such good news!!! Evangeline is another unique name. Beautiful baby.

  22. I really like the name! Two "E"-named Duggar granddaughters this year! Evelyn and Evangeline. I wonder how they are going to call her. They call Felicity Lissy. Would Evangeline be Evy too (like Evelyn) or maybe GiGi?

    1. I had also thought of Lina as a nickname: Lissy and lina. Eva is too close to Evy. I think the best nickname, though, is Angel. She is angel, a rainbow baby that was born in the City of Angels. That makes the meaning of the name very special.

    1. I guessed it too! Like the angel in the name for Los Angeles

      Delete
    2. I did not guess it. But I think the nickname Angel, as suggested by another blogger would be a perfect one. Angel from Los Angeles and also Angel being she is a Rainbow baby, an angel from heaven. An added benefit would be that Angel would not be confused with Evy Mae nor Ivy Jane.

    7. At 945, the family wasn't "complete" until the baby was born, but now that she's here the family is complete. That's the way I took it. A family doesn't feel complete when the mother's carrying the child, but when the baby is born it is complete. Fuzzyferet

    8. That's not the way I took it. A lot of families are complete with no children at all. You don't need children to complete anything.

  33. Evangeline is a gorgeous name! A little too close to cousin Evelyn for me (especially since both forms tend to use the same nickname), but happy for them, none the less!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well Evangeline could go into nicknames like “Eva”, “Ang”, or “Angeline”, where as Evelyn could just be “Eve”, or “Evie”. I’m sure the two sis’ will discuss it, so their daughters don’t have the same nicknames

      Delete
    2. I think Vangie is cute, as well as unique, as a nickname.

      Delete
    3. Why would they need to discuss what they call their children? I would be deeply offended and furious if my sibling wanted to come to agreements about what we were going to call our children. They are different people. Why should one person get to determine what someone else names theirs?

      Delete
    4. I mean, in the siblings, Joy-Anna and Johanna are practically the same name. So I’m sure they are fine with Evelyn and Evangeline.

      Delete
  34. Just curious why sometimes the couples wait several days to announce the birth? Totally their choice of course, just wondered if there was a reason?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Probably because they are busy recovering!

      Delete
    2. They may wait until they’re home from the hospital to prevent attention

      Delete
    3. Time after birth to come home and then have a photo shoot and sell the pics and story to a magazine.

      Delete
    4. I assume this is because they want to be sure to tell their family and friends in person first, so that they don’t have to read about it online instead of from them.

      Delete
    5. Probably to make sure that they have a change to tell family and friends themselves instead of them having to read about it online.

      Delete
    6. I would also wait a couple of days! I don’t want TLC busting through my door the second right after I had a baby and want an interview and pictures of me.

      Delete
    7. Family was there so I'm sure family knew the moment it happened.

      Delete
    8. They wait to take photos to go with the announcement. And or if they sell the exclusive to a magazine they’re obligated to wait. Perhaps the TLC announcement required they wait too.

Both of our daughters love God, are now beautiful Mothers. We have 3 granddaughters and 1 grandson.

God blesses our lives with the most prized possesion we could ever be gifted on earth, our children!

I think baby Evangeline could become nicknamed Eva. So cute, girl cousins; Ivy, Evy, Eva
(however, I could see Jeremy calling her, "Angel".

All I can say is Jeremy, hang on! My husband is an all "girl" daddy.
The joke in our home was; there is no PMS in our home, it was "DMS".

    "Dad
    Must
    Suffer"

Their "Daddy" adored having girls. They played sports and our November 22nd baby went on to be All American in collegiate volleyball.

I shared my story to encourage you to enjoy every second of every day with your children! They grow up so quickly.

I would like to thank both Jeremy and Jinger for sharing your children with us! Such sweet, and precious, memories are brought back watching your Family for those of us that are now "empty nesters"!

      Delete
    3. @8:20 Agree. It's also heartbreaking to see all the children who are incarcerated or have some sort of life-long emotional problems. Nobody ever talks about them when talking about these "blessings" but they're here and their parents have to deal with it. Some parents are able to cope but some aren't.

    4. Hit the nail on the head you guys. The Duggars always paint such a rosy picture about more babies coming but nobody ever talks about the problems children can have or bring on the family. Except for maybe Josh. Yeah it's all part of parenthood but why always pretend everything's wonderful when there are no guarantees?

    5. 8:20 There are way too many people on earth for God to be concerned with finding a good home for each of them. I think God would be a lot happier if people practiced birth control. Then he could go about finding a good home for each of them. It won’t be so overwhelming.

    2. I sincerely doubt it. My daughter has a complex name and had no difficulty learning it. No reason to dumb down a child's name because you don't have the patience to teach them correctly. The Duggars are most certainly not the only people with nicknames. That is absurd. The majority of people are not referred to by their full name. Naming them something shorter is ridiculous.

  56. Jinger and Joy-anna will probably be even closer, both having rainbow baby girls after miscarriages. The names of their girls sound similar Evelyn and Evangeline. If they both lived in Arkansas, they would probably be close, just like I expect Garrett and Gideon to be. They are also close in age and names both begin with G. Personally, I would stay away from Evy or Evie as a nickname for Evangeline. That may be too close. There would be cousins Evie, Evy and Ivy. I would get Evie and Evy mixed up, especially spellings.
But who knows what they call her. Another thought for a nickname is Lina. She and her sister would be Lissy and Lina. Some may confuse those though, too.

    3. I also saw that Michelle and one of the younger girls were there and wondered why, when Jeremy's parents were already there. That should have been enough, especially right now. Why did Michelle have to go? 1:12, it's all part of the birth story. Really shouldn't tell people what they can and can't talk about.

    4. Beats me why they ignored CDC recommendations and went there in the first place.

    5. This NEEDS to be brought up. I found out yesterday that someone I knew died of the virus. He lived in assisted living but was in OK health for his age otherwise, just wobbly from arthritis. Test came back positive and 2 days later he died. Never left the facility and they had no visitors, so someone on staff coming and going wasn't careful although they knew they worked with elderly and vulnerable. So seeing the Duggars continually travel and gather this year, around pregnant women and babies, is upsetting. What you want to do this year and what you should do are two different things, and some people absolutely do not have the discipline to do what's right and think of others. So now more grief, another person gone too soon. What happened to Jesus first, Others second, Yourself last? The Duggars do not practice what they preach.

  60. I think it’s a beautiful name. I don’t know why some people are putting the name down. How horrible to put down their choice of their babies name. We all have our different opinions on names, but I think everyone would agree it’s a beautiful name. I don’t think it would matter what they name her, everyone would have an opinion!

    1. Perhaps Jinger had the name Evangeline picked out long before Joy had Evelyn. I cannot see these girls being upset with their children’s names being close together. The more grandchildren that come along, the more common it’s going to become.

    2. Who cares? They can name their kids whatever they want.

  64. Congratulations to Jinger and Jeremy!! Glad that everyone is healthy and safe!! It would have been cool if baby Evangeline Jo would have been born on November 19 as she is the 19th grandbaby or even November 21 as Joy gave birth to Evelyn on August 21, but I'm more glad that everyone is healthy and safe!

  65. It’s so weird that Kendra has not announced her third child’s gender. in fact this whole pregnancy has been kept on the down low. Her others pregnancies have been more open with gender announcements and other details. All this hush hush makes me wonder whether she is actually faking her pregnancy for publicity. She did not even look pregnant at Addison’s birthday party.

    1. Kendra’s gender reveal event was waiting until after the announcement of Evangeline’s birth. They try not to get in front of each other’s spotlight. At some point they’ll have to stop this courtesy. Right now, for example, Justin can’t announce a wedding date until he has an estimated announcement date of Jed’s courtship, Jessa’s pregnancy announcement, Kendra’s due date, Jana’s store opening, Jackson’s graduation date, Anna’s pregnancy announcement, and Derrik’s book release date.

  66. Anyone know if TLC will do a quick birth show for the new baby and If so an air date.

  67. Nooooo. We don’t want a quick birth show. They’ll just add some footage and re-run it again in season 12. My remote’s fast forward button is plum wore out!

  70. I read that Joy-Anna and Jinger will both be calling their daughters Evy. I think it is a mistake, but of course it is not up to me. It will be very confusing.
